Lately I've noticed a mushroom-like growth of microbreweries in Israel
Caracas (AFP) - Venezuela said Tuesday it is conducting military exercises in the eastern part of the country, a move neighboring Guyana denounced as an "extraordinary escalation" of an ongoing border dispute.
Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez said the troop buildup, which Guyana had noticed with concern, was an "operational deployment exercise."
He said Venezuelans could rest assured "because we are really preparing ourselves ... even with all the fronts we face today," alluding to simultaneous border tensions with Guyana and Colombia.
Guyana's President David Granger said his cabinet was meeting with military and police chiefs to craft a response to Venezuela's movement of naval vessels and ground forces in the area.
Venezuela has been pressing claims to Guyana's Essequibo region, which encompasses two-thirds of the former British colony, since Exxon Mobil discovered oil in disputed waters off its coast earlier this year. Exxon will not let Venezuela have it.

If they miss the sounds of artillery, they can visit Michigan NG Camp Grayling, where they have an annual amateur artillery display, not to mention the occasional wild shot that takes out a vacation cottage down range.

If you are used to living in burned-out buildings and are accustomed to neighborhoods that look like they were shelled, there is a lot of prime real estate in the Motor City.

[DAWN] HYDERABAD: A undertrial prisoner (UTP) of the Hyderabad central jail was beaten to death by another UTP over some petty issue early on Monday, jail police said.
Jail Superintendent Zia-ur-Rehman said that a fight took place at the security ward No-8 of the jail between two UTPs -- Altaf Khaskheli, 20, son of Foto Khaskheli, and Aqeel Baloch, 19, son of Mohammad Umar -- over some petty matter.
He said Altaf was maimed and taken to jail hospital for treatment from where chief medical officer Ahmed Ali Zardari referred him to the Liaquat University Hospital (LUH) Hyderabad.
Altaf succumbed to some head injuries at the LUH, he said, adding that he was facing trial in two cases registered against him at the Town cop shoppe, Mirpurkhas.
He was a resident of Mirpurkhas.
