Russian oligarch? No it's Zuckerberg testifying before congress without oath
[Breitbart] When Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg takes the stand before a joint congressional panel on Tuesday, he will not be under oath, Breitbart News has learned. But he will be required by federal statute to tell the truth, and if he lies he could face serious legal consequences.

A senior Senate GOP aide helping organize the joint Senate Judiciary Committee and Senate Commerce Committee hearing told Breitbart News that it is standard practice not to swear witnesses like this in under oath. But they are required by law to tell the truth, the aide says.

"He won’t be under oath, but he is under legal obligation to tell the truth," the Senate aide told Breitbart News of Zuckerberg.

The Senate hearing, the first of two appearances Zuckerberg will make before Congress this week, begins at 2:15 p.m. ET on Capitol Hill. Judiciary Committee chairman Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) will begin by explaining how the joint committee hearing will operate, then opening statements will be made by Senate Commerce Committee chairman Sen. John Thune (R-SD), Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Grassley, and Commerce Committee ranking member Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL).

Zuckerberg himself will deliver a five-minute statement as well; then the hearing will be open to committee members for questioning the highly controversial Facebook CEO and founder.

‘My mistake, I’m sorry,’ Facebook’s Zuckerberg to tell Congress
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg will accept responsibility for the social network’s failure to protect private data and prevent manipulation of the platform, according to testimony released on the eve of his first Congressional appearance.

"We didn’t take a broad enough view of our responsibility, and that was a big mistake. It was my mistake, and I’m sorry," Zuckerberg said in his written testimony released by a House of Representatives panel.

"I started Facebook, I run it, and I’m responsible for what happens here." Zuckerberg is to testify before senators on Tuesday, and a House panel on Wednesday.

#1  What's the over under on the average length of time it will take for a pol to actually ask a question?

I'm figuring 4.5 minutes which should make the hearing last at least 3 months.

#2  It's too bad Congress probably won't say what is really necessary: "Mark, you will certainly be very sorry".

Tennessee college senior defends posing for graduation picture with gun in her waistband
[FOX] A Tennessee college senior is sticking to her guns after posting a graduation photo in which she stares wistfully off-camera while lifting her "Women for Trump" t-shirt to expose a firearm in her waistband.

Despite receiving what she called a surprising "amount of hate" on social media, Brenna Spencer, 22, says she has no regrets.

"I know the Tennessee state gun codes .... I carry everywhere that I’m allowed to carry," the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga student said in an interview.

On Twitter, where Spencer's profile states that "political correctness offends me," she posted the provocative photo with the caption: "I don’t take normal college graduation photos..."

Afghanistan
Man kills 3 members of his own family in Jalalabad city
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] A man has killed three members of his own family in Jalalabad city, the historic provincial capital of eastern Nangahrar, in what appears to be a brutal murder incident involving domestic violence.

The provincial government media office in a statement said the incident took place late on Sunday night in the vicinity of the 5th police district of the city after a man identified as Abdul Haq, brutally murdered his wife, his mother-in-law, and father-in-law.

The statement further added that Haq is originally a resident of Shirzad district and the brutal killing apparently had links with domestic violence.

According to the governor’s office in Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..

by police and has confessed that the three individuals were rubbed out by a pistol.

Africa Subsaharan
'Sulking' Mugabe and Wife Grace 'Refuse to Vacate State House'
[All Africa] Former Zim-bob-we president Bob Muggsy Mugabe
Nonagenarian President-for-Life of Zim-bob-we who turned the former Breadbasket of Africa into the African Basket Case. Dumped in November 2017 when the Missus decided she wanted to be president, and opposed heer might against Crocodile Mnangawa Important safety tip: If your opponent goes by the name Crocodile andf your title is Shopper in Chief let him win....
still has the keys to an official residence more than four months after he was forced to retire, a spokesperson has claimed.

George Charamba, who was Mugabe's spokesperson and is now the spokesperson for new president Emmerson Mnangagwa, told the privately-owned Standard newspaper on Sunday: "Someone is not telling the country that the former president still holds the keys for that house."

Residential side
Charamba's comments come after claims that laptops stored by the former first family in haulage containers at Zim-bob-we House - the 'residential' wing of State House in central Harare - have gone missing.

Said Charamba: "[Mnangagwa] hasn't set foot at Zim-bob-we House but how do you keep the keys to the property when there is someone who must come in?"

Mugabe, 94, was persuaded to retire last November after a military takeover. He had been in power for 37 years.

'Sulking' Mugabe
The independent Daily News reported last week that "sulking" Mugabe and his wife Grace "are refusing to remove their property, including furniture and other valuables, from State House."

That's despite the fact that the former first family actually hadn't lived in Zim-bob-we House since they moved permanently to their private Blue Roof residence in northern Harare 12 years ago.

The State House building that Zim-bob-weans see on TV is the place for formal receptions - but the presidential living quarters are understood to be in Zim-bob-we House.

Nigeria: Eight Shot Dead At Drinking Spot in Plateau Village
When there’s no Boko Haram or Fulani herders terrorizing the locals, they have to find their amusements in other ways.
[All Africa] No fewer than eight persons have been rubbed out in Nding village, Fang district of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State by unknown button men.

An eyewitness, Mr. Barnabas Rwang, who confirmed the attack to journalists, said it happened in the late hours of Sunday when some people were "relaxing at a drinking spot".

He said the attackers swooped on the spot and opened fire on the people killing six on the spot, while another two died among the injured victims that were rushed to Plateau Specialist Hospital, Jos on Monday morning.

The drinking spot, THISDAY gathered, always played host to illegal miners, who on returning from the mining activities stayed back to cool off.

Rwang said the attackers took advantage of the open relaxation spot to open fire on their victims, adding that the community has been under threat of attacks in recent days.

Britain
NHS hospital bans sugar from its meals to tackle staff obesity
[Guardian] A hospital in Manchester has become the first in Britain to ban sugar from its restaurant in an attempt to tackle growing concerns about obesity among NHS staff.

Tameside hospital has removed all added sugar from the meals it prepares for visitors and health service workers, and taken sugary snacks and fizzy drinks off its menu. The only drinks visitors can buy are tea, coffee, milk and water.

The move has been welcomed by campaigners, who are urging other hospitals to follow suit.

"This is long overdue and I believe it just takes one hospital to make this move and all the others should follow, and I hope they will. The Department of Health ... seems to be really slow on the uptake and are only just now thinking about banning sugary drinks from hospitals. But it’s sugar in food that is so important. I just think [Tameside’s plan] is excellent and I wish them well," said Tam Fry, chair of the National Obesity Forum.

Bad hospital food is not just a problem for patients ‐ it affects NHS staff too

Steve Morton, from Public Health England North West, said: "It’s fantastic to see one of our local hospital trusts taking such encouraging steps to tackle the country’s obesity problem. Large employers can set a great example by encouraging their staff to think about their health by opting for healthier food and restricting less healthy options such as sugary snacks and fizzy drinks."

Government
Military Set for Cyber Attacks on Foreign Infrastructure
[Free Beacon] American military cyber warriors are ready to shut critical infrastructures in China and Russia during a future conflict by conducting cyber intrusions into their networks, according to the general set to lead Cyber Command.

Both China and Russia have been detected conducting similar cyber battlefield reconnaissance against the U.S. networks used to control critical infrastructure in the United States, including electric grids, transportation, financial, and other critical systems.

U.S. military plans for similar cyber attacks on foreign infrastructure was disclosed last month in a little-noticed written Senate testimony from Army Lt. Gen. Paul Nakasone, nominee for the dual positions of commander of Cyber Command and director of the National Security Agency.

Nakasone stated in advance policy questions posed by the Senate Intelligence Committee that cyber attacks against infrastructure networks are a "critical vulnerability in the nation's armor" that poses a significant danger to U.S. security.

"We face a challenging and volatile threat environment, and cyber threats to our national security interests and critical infrastructure rank at the top of the list," he said.

Home Front: Culture Wars
Dem VA Governor Vetoes Bill Banning Sanctuary Cities
[Townhall] Well, it shouldn’t be a shocker, but it’s still absurd. Virginia’s Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam vetoed a bill that would’ve banned localities from adopting so-called sanctuary city measures, which shields illegal aliens from deportation if they report crimes. That was the selling pitch, by the way. What it has become is a safe space for people who shouldn’t be here, coupled with local authorities inhibiting the enforcement of federal immigration laws. Northam tried to pass that off as the reason for his veto, saying it’s unfair to pass off the costs of immigration enforcement to local police. Virginia Republicans say that the bill merely stated that no locality could adopt ordinances that interfere with the enforcement of federal immigration laws (via WaPo):
