[NYPOST] A city in Wyoming has been overrun with an unprecedented homeless population that’s destroyed a vacant motel and has left hundreds of pounds of feces across the area, according to its mayor.
Mayor Bruce Knell detailed the destructive behavior of roughly 200 homeless people in Casper, WY. who have been creating a "mess" throughout the streets and parks, as well as a closed motel where squatters left millions in property damage.
"They destroyed everything," he told Cowboy State Daily. "It’s horrible."
Homeless people who squatted at the Econo Lodge motel caused more damage than the flooding that initially closed the business down, Knell reportedly said. The property was condemned by the city and the bank that owns the foreclosed business boarded it up.
"It was inhabitable, and it was unsafe," Knell told Cowboy State Daily.
Other homeless people are squatting in other abandoned properties in Casper that don’t have water or electricity.
The city council is considering the adoption of a new code to require suspected squatters to get written consent from a homeowner and setting limits on how long a person can camp on a property, no matter if they have permission.
"We know very well we cannot litigate our way or arrest our way out of the problem, but our police need some teeth to start dealing with the squatting," Knell told the outlet. "They’re just causing so many problems.

"In desperate times people do desperate things, and unfortunately we’re the ones left having to deal with it," he said.
Knell noted that the local homeless shelter is not the issue and instead laid blame on the homeless who have been kicked out of the shelter and those who can’t get in and then never leave Casper.
"There’s a certain part of the homeless population, whether substance abuse or mental illness, that is getting them to where they don’t want to conform to society’s rules," Knell told the outlet. "When they do that, they’re not allowed to go in the shelter, which means they’re just out and about in our community raising hell.
The mayor noted that the homeless population, along with homeless people along the West Coast, want a home they can call their own.

No they don't. Most are druggies or alcoholics. They do not want the responsibilities that go along with 'home' ownership. Do you see them squatting and cleaning the place up? Do you see them pay property taxes? /rhetorical questions

Was the 500 lbs all in one place? How did they weigh it? Did they have an accurate tare weight of the truck? Why did they not just use the toilets in the motel? Did the motel have really poor quality toilet paper?
So many questions.

When the water is turned off for a property, Super Hose, the toilets don’t flush.

Algerian officials claim that "multiple" warning shots were fired before its military directly shot at a group of jet skiers who had crossed over from Morocco, killing two of them.
The deadly encounter occurred Tuesday after five jet skiers drifted into Algeria territory while exploring the waters around the Moroccan resort town of Saidia.
"Given that the maritime border area is witnessing intense activity by drug smuggling gangs and organized crime, Coast Guard members fired warning shots," Algeria’s defense ministry said in a statement.
"After multiple attempts, shots were fired on a jet ski," officials added.
One of the survivors, Mohamed Kissi, disputed that account of the shooting that killed his 29-year-old brother Bilal and their 40-year-old friend Abdelali Mechouar.
"I did not hear any warning shots. I only heard gunshots directly that killed my brother Bilal," he said Sunday.

Another member of their group, Smail Snabi, was detained by the Algerian authorities, Kissi said — and Morocco’s National Human Rights Council claims he has already been sentenced to 18 months in jail.
Kissi said earlier that the group of friends had been approached by an Algerian government vessel after dark, and were fired upon even after seeing they were unarmed.
"We were low on fuel for the water scooters and were drifting. In the darkness, we found ourselves in Algerian waters," Kissi told local news site le360, according to SkyNews.
"We knew we were in Algeria because a black Algerian dinghy came towards us [and] fired at us," he recalled, the BBC reported.
"They arrested my other friend [Snabe]. Five bullets hit my brother and my friend. My other friend was hit by a bullet," he alleged.
Ismaïl Snabi had already been sentenced to 18 months in jail, according to Morocco’s National Human Rights Council
After the shooting, Kissi said he was forced to swim back toward Morocco before eventually being picked up by the navy.
The Kissi brothers and Snabi hold dual Moroccan and French citizenship, and Morocco’s National Human Rights Council had condemned the deadly shooting and ordered the release of Snabi.
Bilal’s bullet-ridden body was found by a fisherman and he was buried in Morocco on Wednesday.
Mechouar’s father said he is still waiting for his son’s body to be released by authorities so he can be properly buried.
"I appeal to Moroccan and Algerian authorities to reach an agreement to bring my son back to me to observe a proper funeral and burial for him," Mustafa Mechouar said.
Prosecutors in Morocco said they were investigating the "violent incident" and France’s Foreign Ministry said it was in touch with authorities in its former colony.

[GEO.TV] At least two people were killed and six others were maimed after a deadly shooting broke out in a parking lot of a wedding reception where two different wedding events were taking place, as people rushed to safe places to avoid injuries, local authorities said.
Police "said to stay in our vehicles. We could not leave the scene," the witness said.
A person who came to pick up a friend told AFP: "It was chaos, there was no general direction of where people were running, it was just everywhere."
"It was rapid shots, and then there was screaming, and then there was a pause, and then there were more shots, probably 15-16 more shots that I can recall," he said.
The fatal shooting started at 10:21pm Saturday (0221 GMT Sunday) in the parking lot of a south-end convention hall and the witness said that police "told us to stay in our vehicles, adding that we could not leave the scene."
Police officials in Ottawa confirmed that the fatalities were of two men, aged 26 and 29, both from Canada's largest city Toronto.

According to the police, Americans were among the six maimed but their lives were not in danger. Their identities were not immediately released.
"We are in the process of connecting the pieces of the puzzle," Martin Groulx, police inspector, told AFP about the ongoing investigation.
He said police had no sign for now to suggest the shooting was a hate crime "related to race or religious beliefs."
"But we do not eliminate this option," he added, specifying that the investigation had yet to determine a motive.
As of Sunday afternoon, no arrests had been made.
The two deaths from the shooting bring to 12 the number of homicides recorded in 2023 in Ottawa, Canada´s capital, which has a population of about one million.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday once again floated the idea of building a fence along the entire border with Jordan to prevent infiltrations into the country — an expensive undertaking that has made little progress in the past.
"We erected a fence on our southern border (with Egypt) and prevented the infiltration from there into Israel," Netanyahu posted on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter. "We thereby stopped more than a million infiltrators from Africa, who would have destroyed our country.
"Now we will erect a fence on our eastern border (with Jordan) and ensure that there will be no infiltration from there either," he added. "We will protect our borders, and we will protect our country!"
