State of the Union Speech - Already Forgotten
People's Republic of Los Angeles, January 26, 2011--Before Paul Ryan could give the appropriate State of the Union address, America had to sit through over an hour of Barack Obama.

At this point giving him the benefit of the doubt is a futile exercise. People will praise his civility, but he is the master at being polite while completely discounting other opinions.

His 2011 speech was 45% platitudes, 30% bromides, 25% meanderings, and 5% general nonsense.

For those who point out this adds up to 105%, I have two responses.

1) I went to public schools, which do not deserve another dollar until teachers unions are decertified.

2) This is Obamaworld. The numbers add up just because he said so. That is his healthcare plan in a nutshell and everything else he is trying to do.

Mr. Obama offered a substanceless speech that will be forgotten by yesterday.

I stayed for his speech, the adult response by Congressman Paul Ryan, and another response by Tea Party favorite Congressman Michele Bachmann.

With multiple televisions going at once, I stayed for the analysis by CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News analysts. Lastly, I observed focus groups and exit polls involving ordinary Americans.

So unlike President Obama, my comprehensive remarks are substantive.

He stated that there were "one million private sector jobs created last year."

Totally false.

Then he got into the heart of his speech. For those not paying attention the last two years, Barack Obama only cares about three things: healthcare, education, and the environment. Everything else is irrelevant to him. He is not interested in job creation.

His own words again outlined his three priorities that have never changed.

#1  I listened to his speech through the back of my head whilst getting the blood together. I had three thoughts that kept running through my mind:

1. We destroyed our manufacturing base to get rich in a post-industrial world by selling each other information and services. In 1996 health care was 7 percent of GDP. Today it's pushing 20 percent. We invented the PC and now we buy them from China, with the programming done in Bangalore.

2. Green jobs cost existing jobs in a ration > 1:1. If the Green Economy™ is so hot, why does the fossil fuels economy have to be destroyed before it blossoms?

3. If we'd wanted bipartisanship we would have voted for one from column A and one from column B.

#2  Brutally honest assessment of everything from everyone. Glad I read it.

It also really drove home the point that we cannot let this man lead us anymore past 2012. He is destroying this country and if he gets a second term, America falls.

#3  I liked the sarcasm from Legal Insurrection -
"A million points of trite."

That's the plan, we've known that from the beginning. I'm afraid, considering the stupidity of the GOP, that we are doomed to a 2nd term of this ass weasel. There are just too many people in this country that are weapons grade stupid.

#5  What I don't understand is why he needs a TOTUS for his speeches. They are all about the same.

#6  Because he has no long-term memory JohnQC.

He doesn't remember the promises he made (5 minutes after he makes them) doesn't remember what he says on video (and then denies it).

#7  A few thoughts on your thoughts, Fred:

In 1996 health care was 7 percent of GDP. Today it's pushing 20 percent.

In that time period the average age of the population has gone up about 10 years. So our health care costs would have gone up as a percentage of GDP anyway, if not so much.

If we'd wanted bipartisanship we would have voted for one from column A and one from column B.

President Obama, Vice President Palin. Not likely, but life certainly would have been very, very interesting for all involved.

It used to be like that at the beginning. The winner to the Presidency and the other guy took the Vice Presidency. An amendment changed that since people bitched about gridlock. Now people bitch about super partisanship.
