Drunk driver's breath test frightens police
A 48-year-old Adelaide man has returned a blood alcohol level seven times over the legal limit, prompting police concerns for his health. A police spokesman said the man's car was stopped at suburban Rosewater on Friday night where he blew 0.368. "The reading was in fact so high police took the man to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital to have his condition checked by doctors," the spokesman said.

After being cleared, the man was charged with drink driving, driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle and driving while disqualified. He was bailed to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court at a later date.

#4  DO NOT try this at home.

If you're gonna go for the jackpot like that, you'd damn well better be at home because you'll most likely not be able to walk or even dial 911 if you need to.

Teens executed at school
Three teenagers were killed and one wounded when they were lined up against a wall in a school parking lot in New Jersey today and shot in the head, authorities said.

One female, Ofemi Hightower, and two males, Terrance Aeriel and Deshawn Harvey, were killed, said prosecutor's office spokesman Paul Loriquet, who did not know their ages. Aeriel's 19-year-old sister, Natasha, was in fair condition at a hospital this afternoon.

"All four were good kids," Mr Loriquet said. He said three of them had student identification from Delaware State University.

No-one has been arrested, and investigators have no information on a motive.

Mother cuts off 61-year-old son's allowance
A Sicilian mother took away her 61-year-old son's house keys, cut off his allowance and hauled him to the police station because he stayed out late. Tired of her son's misbehaviour, the pensioner in the central Sicilian city of Caltagirone turned to the police to "convince this blockhead" to behave properly, La Sicilia, one of Sicily's leading newspapers, reported on Thursday.

The son responded by saying his mother did not give him a big enough weekly allowance and did not know how to cook.
The son responded by saying his mother did not give him a big enough weekly allowance and did not know how to cook. "My son does not respect me, he doesn't tell me where he's going in the evenings and returns home late," the woman was quoted as saying. "He is never happy with the food I make and always complains. This can't go on."

Police helped the squabbling duo make up and the two returned home together, with the son's house keys and daily allowance restored. Most Italian men still live at home late into their 30s, enjoying their "mamma's" cooking, washing and ironing.

Southeast Asia
Harsh Police Discipline
Police chiefs in the Thai capital, Bangkok, have come up with a new way of punishing officers who break the rules - an eye-catching Hello Kitty armband.

The armband is large, bright pink and has a Hello Kitty motif with two hearts embroidered on it.

From today, officers who are late, park in the wrong place or commit other minor transgressions will have to wear it for several days.

The armband is designed to shame the wearer, police officials said.

"This is to help build discipline. We should not let small offences go unnoticed," Police Colonel Pongpat Chayapan told Reuters news agency.

"Guilty officers will be made to wear the armbands in the office for a few days, with instructions not to disclose their offences. Let people guess what they have done," he said.

Further offences would be dealt with using a more traditional disciplinary panel, he said.

The cartoon character Hello Kitty was first introduced by Japanese company Sanrio in 1974.

The cute round-faced cat has become an Asia-wide marketing phenomenon, with Hello Kitty products such as stationery, hair accessories and kitchen appliances available across the region.

#3  bigjim: Dogs are unclean to muslims. Think muslim taxi drivers turning down customers because they have a seeing eye dog, for example.
Posted by: gorb || 08/06/2007 17:04 Comments || Top||

#4  "Looking for a lost dog indicates the spread of a corrupt culture, which indirectly popularises keeping a dog at home, something that is completely foreign to the culture and Isamic tradition," said Tehran police spokesman, Mehdi Ahmadi.

Pause to consider just how utterly barren Islamic life must be:

No dogs for children to play with and learn about unconditional love and devotion.

Illiterate mothers who cannot read a bedtime story to their children or help teach them how to read a book.

No freedom of speech that permits healthy discussion and critical analysis of current events.

No freedom of religion that is so vital to a pluralistic society.

No graphic depiction of most living forms which curtails artistic creativity.

No public displays of affection that lend a romantic atmosphere to daily life.

No pork or other haram foods that widen the diet and variety of sustenance.

No beautiful or shapely women proudly strutting their stuff on the street.

No non-liturgical music to break up the monotony of constant religious worship.

No alcohol to unwind with and enhance convivial gatherings.

No co-ed intermingling that allows young people to refine their social skills.

The Muslim world is nothing short of a mental prison. It is abusive in the extreme and represents nothing less than a spiritual gulag.
