Obama acknowledges decline of US dominance
You can read his musings or you can read the book.
Implicitly acknowledging the decline of American dominance, Barack Obama on Sunday said the US was no longer in a position to "meet the rest of the world economically on our terms".

Speaking at a town hall meeting in Mumbai, he said, "I do think that one of the challenges that we are going face in the US, at a time when we are still recovering from the financial crisis is, how do we respond to some of the challenges of globalisation? The fact of the matter is that for most of my lifetime and I'll turn 50 next year - the US was such an enormously dominant economic power, we were such a large market, our industry, our technology, our manufacturing was so significant that we always met the rest of the world economically on our terms. And now because of the incredible rise of India and China and Brazil and other countries, the US remains the largest economy and the largest market, but there is real competition."

#1  China will be more and more difficult as they believe their power grows. Thomas Sowell has it right. We should declare bankruptcy then our largest creditor China will hear a big sucking sound. Then this"we always met the rest of the world economically on our terms" Our terms?. In his mind we are a great evil empire. We have helped the world many times but will China?. I think not.

Personally, I've always believed he favours Gaius more than Augustulus.

US debt hits all-time record $14 trillion
[Iran Press TV] US government debt has ballooned to an all-time record of more than $14 trillion, which is $45,300 for each and every US citizen if divided equally.

The US Congress must now decide whether to lift the debt limit or cut spending, although some political analysts say the real debt level is much higher than the announced figure, a Press TV correspondent reported from Washington.

US President Barack B.O. Obama has urged Congress to pass a bill allowing an increase of the debt limit to help protect the US economy.

However,
The infamous However...
the Republicans say there is too much money being spent on various programs.

After the Republicans won the majority of seats in the House of Representatives in the November election, they announced that one of their major objectives would be to cut spending.

The Democrats want the debt ceiling to be raised because they say the government programs are necessary. They contend that in the period when the US is coming out of recession, cutting some of these spending initiatives would significantly slow down economic growth.

With the Republicans in control of the House and the Democrats in control of the Senate, political analysts predict some levels of concessions over the issue.

In 2006, when Obama was a senator, Republicans wanted to raise the national debt ceiling. At that time, Obama argued that it was a sign of "leadership's failure" that the debt ceiling was being raised and was a sign that the US government could not pay its own bills and was dependent on financial assistance from foreign countries to finance former President George W. Bush's reckless fiscal policies.

Most experts say the debt ceiling cannot be raised until Democrats and Republicans reach an agreement on lowering federal deficit spending, reallocating funding for various programs, and making other spending cuts.

#1  Do an image search for "bush crosshairs" and you'll see a lot of folks in the crosshairs - bin Laden, Saddam, GOP, and - of course - Sarah Palin.

I remember the outrage when Bush was - no, wait - that was freedom of speech, calling for the President to be wacked.

#3  Journalistic legalities mandate that news reports refer to Loughner as the "alleged" gunman. However, oddly enough, contemporary journalistic ethics doesn't constrain personal accusations of outside motivation. Ironicly this message of "shared responsibility" has proven to influence the sense of victimization amongst the unbalanced. And it isn't just the media and politicians that exploit this process. You can bet the shooter's lawyer has already tailored their "Devil made me do it" defense.
(Feel free to replace the name Devil with Palin or the like.)

#4  Lies and distortions.

The Socialist MFM machine thinks repeating the lie, the lies will eventually stick to the polulace. It will only for the weak minded sheeple. But the lies will not stick for those of the populace has the knowledge of the real truth.

#5  Unfortunately a lot of people really do think that Sarah Palin said 'I can see Russia from my house'....
Also believe that the KKK was a right-wing organization, that Republicans backed slavery, the democrats were behind the Civil Rights Act, Nazi = Conservative, etc....
How often has the media changed the meaning of a word (examples: Hacker, Gay, etc...)

#6  Like OMG I went to a site weather underground and it asks for my zip then totally puts a crosshair on me !!oneone1

If a person looks like it as messaging, the point is to influence the opinion not only of those who are more or less neutral/undecided but also their own ranks, that is if you leave we will do this to you too. Also a prime time for bigwigs to peacock and evaluate position and influence, charge level of words and phrases.

The challenge is that there cannot be effective counters to the narrative, even one can destroy the entire effort. Pictures of applause calls on the gameboard, a mature discussion of the shooter's influence such as why talk about banning the theoretical influence of unlistened to pundits without first talking about the concrete influences of his favorite books collection, friendly fire from those turned off by the ugliness and/or obviousness, and some other things.

And IMHO the Phelps group is a modern product of the KKK movement in lawfare form, tyrany supporting organization who threatens people, has all the behavior of a hate group, should be investigated for tax evasion, stalks and marks individuals, and for whatever reason supports (and runs for office as) democrat.

#7  I'd mention who pioneered this particular propaganda technique (hint: they had the word Socialist in their name), but I'd end up invoking Godwin's Law.
