Suicide Bombers Target NE Nigeria in Boko Haram 'Fight-Back'
[AnNahar] Two exploding trollop female suicide bombers blew themselves up in northeast Nigeria
... a particularly crimson stretch of Islam's bloody border...
, shortly after another bomber killed four at a displaced persons' camp, an emergency services official said on Thursday.

The failed mission at Mandarari village, near the town of Konduga in Borno state, and the successful attack just outside the state capital, Maiduguri, both came after ramped-up military action against Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
Islamists.

Nigeria's military announced in late 2016 that it had cleared the jihadists' Sambisa Forest stronghold but they are said to have since returned.

The head of the Borno state emergency management agency, Ahmed Satomi, said soldiers and civilian militia intercepted two women at Mandarari at about 9:00 pm (2000 GMT) on Wednesday.

"The women detonated their explosives, killing themselves, having realised they had been uncovered," he told AFP.

About 45 minutes earlier, a male suicide bomber scaled a rear fence at the Dalori camp on the outskirts of Maiduguri and went kaboom!. As well as the four who died, 44 were maimed.

Shortly afterwards, a exploding trollop female suicide bomber detonated her explosives outside the camp, killing only herself, said Idris Garga, head of Nigeria's National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in the northeast.

Satomi told AFP: "The failed suicide kaboom (at Mandarari) and the one at Dalori IDP camp are clearly the work of Boko Haram.

"They are trying to hit back as a result of the pressure the military has exerted on them in the current military operations against them in Sambisa forest.

"This is why we emphasised the need for people to be vigilant and keep an eye on strange faces coming into their communities as Boko Haram forces of Evil are trying to attack civilian targets in response to the losses they suffer in the hands of the military."

The conflict, which began in 2009, has killed at least 20,000 and left more than 2.6 million others homeless.

According to pro-government media, the Southern Resistance forces seized several areas inside the al-Silo District of the Tai’z Governorate.

Furthermore, the Saudi-led Coalition also heavily bombarded the Houthi defenses at the mountains overlooking the al-Silo District in
a bid to clear the area of anti-government forces.

Since their tiff with the Saleh loyalists, the Houthi forces have lost a large portion of the Ta’iz Governorate, as the former has abandoned several areas in favor of the UAE-backed Southern Resistance.

Russia Says Killed IS Member Plotting Election Attack
[AnNahar] Russia's FSB security agency said Thursday it had killed an Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
jihadist in the provincial city of Nizhny Novgorod as he was plotting an attack during next month's presidential polls.

The FSB said the man "was ready to carry out a sabotage and terrorist attack on the day of presidential elections" on March 18 when Vladimir Putin
...Second and fourth President and sixth of the Russian Federation and the first to remain sober. Putin is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from polonium poisoning. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to Putin. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead...
is expected to win a fourth Kremlin term.

The man resisted arrest and was "neutralised," the FSB said in a statement, while state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
showed footage of the man's dead body lying in what appears to be a garage scattered with hub caps and boxes.

Security forces said they found a powerful homemade bomb as well as firearms and ammunition during the raid in the large industrial city around 400 kilometres (250 miles) east of Moscow.

The agency said it had information the man was a citizen of one of the countries neighbouring Russia, without giving further details.

Another jihadist from Islamic State (IS) was killed by police in the same city in October 2016, the hard boy group said.

In that incident, police rubbed out two gunnies in a car in an operation in which two coppers were maimed. IS said they were attacking a military base, but claimed only one of the pair was a member.

Four Migrants Critical after Being Shot in Calais Brawl
[AnNahar] Four teenaged migrants colonists were at death's door Thursday after being shot during a huge brawl in the French port of Calais involving a hundred Afghans and Eritrea
...is run by the People's Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ), with about the amounts of democracy and justice you'd expect from a party with that name. National elections have been periodically scheduled and cancelled; none have ever been held in the country. The president, Isaias Afewerki, has been in office since independence in 1993 and will probably die there of old age...
ns armed with sticks and stones, local authorities said.

The four Eritreans aged between 16 and 18 were taken to hospital, the local prosecutor's office said, addng at least 13 more people were maimed, suffering "blows from iron bars".

It was not immediately clear who fired the bullets.

The nearly two-hour fight broke out on the southern outskirts of Calais among migrants colonists who had been queuing for food handouts.

A second fight then broke out at an industrial site around five kilometers (three miles away), with more than a hundred Eritreans fighting about 20 Afghans, prosecutors said.

"Police intervened to protect the Afghan migrants colonists faced with 150 to 200 Eritrean migrants colonists," the local prefecture said, adding that security reinforcements were being deployed in the area.

French Interior Minister Gerard Collomb tweeted he would be heading to the area by helicopter and could stay overnight.

"After today's serious incidents I shall be heading for Calais tonight to take stock of the situation with the prefect, the mayor and local players," including police, Collomb tweeted.

The notorious Jungle camp in Calais, once home to some 10,000 people hoping to make it to Britannia, was demolished in 2016, but hundreds of migrants colonists remain in the port city seeking to stow away on England-bound trucks.

A judicial source equated Thursday's unrest with that 2015, when the camp was created.

Those left in the area, most of them young Africans and Afghan men, have been living rough in the woods and clash regularly with police, who clear their encampments and stop them from setting up roadblocks in a bid to slow passing trucks.

Grim living conditions have led to regular confrontations between migrants colonists of different nationalities, and five people were shot in a fight between rival Afghan groups last November.

Charities working with migrants colonists in the area say around 800 are currently living in Calais, while local authorities put the numbers at 550 to 600.

Last month President Emmanuel Macron vowed zero tolerance for camps like the "Jungle" and secured a new border security deal which will see Britannia pay more to stop migrants colonists trying to reach its shores.

Macron has said he wants to step up expulsions of economic migrants colonists while speeding up waiting times for asylum applications -- an approach he touts as mixing "humanity" and "efficiency."

But his tougher line has earned criticism from some of his allies, with his former senior aide Jean Pisano-Ferry among those signing a hard-hitting open letter claiming Macron risked betraying his image as a humanist.

Turkish-backed rebels uncover YPG tunnel system in north Afrin
[ALMASDARNEWS] Ottoman Turkish-backed rebels from the so-called Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
(FSA) have fully captured the town of Bulbul on Thursday, in the far north of the northern Syrian district of Afrin, after driving the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) out of the area after heavy festivities.

Pictures released by the FSA Lions of Islam show a web of underground tunnels that allegedly reaches all the way into Ottoman Turkish territory. The tunnel system was uncovered after an earlier offensive by the rebel forces in which they captured a strategic YPG hilltop military base overlooking Bulbul town.

Because of the rugged terrain of the Syrian-Ottoman Turkish borderlands, and because of most towns generally lying at the foot of hillsides, the FSA rebels and Ottoman Turkish military forces generally focus on taking hilly territory first, as the surrounding towns generally tend to fall soon afterwards.

The FSA is a foreign-backed and self-professed "moderate" Syrian rebel organization, that has been active in the war since its very beginning. While its importance in the Syrian conflict had been waning to a point of near irrelevance for a long time, the direct involvement of Ottoman Turkish forces as part of "Operation Olive Branch" has seen a resurgence of FSA offensives with backing from Ankara.

3 Turkish Soldiers Killed in PKK Attacks in Iraq, Turkey
[AnNahar] Three Ottoman Turkish soldiers were killed on Thursday in two separate attacks by Kurdish gunnies in northern Iraq and in southeastern The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire....
, the military said.

Two other soldiers were maimed after the attack by the "separatist terrorist organization" -- Turkey's official term for the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in northern Iraq, the army said in a statement.

The PKK is blacklisted as a terror organization by Ankara and its Western allies.

Meanwhile,
...back at the saw mill, Scarface Al had tied Little Nell to the log and was about to turn on the buzz saw...
in an earlier attack, one soldier was killed and five were maimed after an attack near a military base in the Cukurca district of Hakkari province.

Earlier Ottoman Turkish media reported two Ottoman Turkish soldiers were killed in an attack in Hakkari's Semdinli district -- which appeared to be a separate incident -- blamed on the PKK launching a missile from northern Iraq. But the army did not refer to this attack in its statements.

The deaths come a day after the army said one Ottoman Turkish soldier was killed in an attack in the eastern province of Agri.

Following the collapse of a two-year ceasefire in 2015, fighting has intensified between Ottoman Turkish security forces and the PKK in the southeast.

The Ottoman Turkish military regularly conducts air raids against PKK gunnies who have bases in the Qandil mountain area of Iraq.

Ottoman Turkish ground troops also sometimes stage incursions into the area.

Ankara on January 20 launched a cross-border operation in northern Syria against a Syrian Kurdish militia which Ankara says is a "terrorist" offshoot of the PKK.

Baghdad Bomb & Bullet Bulletin: tribals clash, 5 passers by kaboomed
Seven people killed, injured in tribal dispute east of Baghdad

Baghdad (Iraqinews.com) – Seven people were killed and injured Thursday in a tribal dispute in eastern Baghdad, a security source was quoted as saying.

Speaking to Baghdad Today, the source said, “One person was killed and six others were injured in an armed dispute in al-Fadiliya area, east of Baghdad.”

“Security forces intervened and arrested one of those involved in the fighting,” the source said, adding that the dead body was moved to the forensic medicine department, while the injured were carried to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Iraq’s government and non-governmental organizations have launched many initiatives over the past period to persuade rival tribesmen to sign petitions to stop their fighting, which claims the lives of several people daily.

The country’s chieftains were also urged to intervene to put an end to tribal disputes through forcing tribesmen to hand over their weapons to the Iraqi army.

Tribal struggles are weakening efforts to reconstruct the country following the defeat of Islamic State.

Settler indicted for attempting to run over Palestinian
Making them live by their own rules.
[IsraelTimes] 25-year-old Beitar Illit resident also rammed into a different man with his shopping cart upon identifying him as Paleostinian

An Israeli settler was indicted on hate crime charges Thursday for a series of attacks on Paleostinians, including attempting to run over a Paleostinian street cleaner with his car late last month.

The five-count indictment against the 25-year-old Beitar Illit resident ‐ identified only as Haim Asher Cohen ‐ included charges for racially-motivated assault, attempted aggravated assault and deliberately damaging Paleostinian property.

The charges surrounding the attempted car attack were not listed as racially motivated, though court filings indicated Cohen was motivated by anti-Arab sentiment. A court spokesperson said racial motivation cannot be appended to serious charges such as aggravated assault charges.

According to the Jerusalem District Attorney, Cohen drove up to a street cleaner and asked him "What’s going on?" in an attempt to identify the man’s nationality.

When the worker responded confusedly, the assailant concluded that the man was of Arab origin. At that point, he backed up his car and then sped toward the Paleostinian.

The worker managed to jump out of the way, but the defendant backed up and tried to hit him a second time, but instead hit a garbage dumpster.

The Paleostinian was not hurt. He filed a complaint with police later in the day and, following a police investigation, Cohen was jugged
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
the next day.

During his questioning, the suspect confessed to five other unsolved instances of violence and vandalism within a short period of time targeting Paleostinians or their vehicles in Beitar Illit.

According to the indictment, the defendant went to a grocery store in the ultra-Orthodox settlement southwest of Jerusalem. When he overheard a Paleostinian employee speaking in Arabic to a colleague, he rushed at him with his shopping cart, hitting the worker in the back of the leg.

Later that night, the defendant drove to a separate grocery store in the community where he once worked. After parking his car, he identified a vehicle that belonged to a Paleostinian and proceeded to smash its windshield, side mirrors and headlights.

In a separate occasion at the same parking lot, the suspect used a screwdriver to puncture holes in three tires of another vehicle he identified as belonging to a Paleostinian, the indictment said.

Reports: Israel bombed Islamic State positions in southern Syria
[IsraelTimes] Opposition media claims Israel fired surface-to-surface missiles at terror group positions during rebel offensive

Syrian media reported that Israel targeted several positions belonging to an Islamic State

group affiliate in southern Syrian on Thursday.

The alleged Arclight airstrikes were said to have taken place during an offensive by rebel groups against the Islamic State-affiliated group, known as the Khalid ibn al-Walid Army, in the area around the city of Daraa.

Zaman Al Wasl, a pro-rebel outlet, quoted local activists as saying the "Israeli Air Force has been pounding [Islamic State] bastions" during the attack.

Additional Syrian opposition outlets specified that four surface-to-surface missiles were launched at Khalid ibn al-Walid Army positions.

This could not be immediately verified.

The Israeli military does not comment on reports of its alleged activities in Syria.

Israel has maintained a public policy of limited intervention in the Syrian civil war.

The prime minister and senior defense officials have said that the country only takes action in Syria when a "red line" is crossed, generally meaning in retaliation to deliberate or accidental attacks on Israel from southern Syria or when advanced weapons are being transferred to the Iran-backed Hezbollah terrorist group.

There have, however, been reports of additional Israeli actions that do not appear to have been in response to a violated "red line."

Last October, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that Israel conducted airstrikes against the Khalid ibn al-Walid Army, killing 10 people, including two women believed to be the wives of fighters from the faction.

The Observatory offered no evidence that Israel carried out the strike. It relies on a network of sources inside Syria, and says it determines whose planes carry out raids according to type, location, flight patterns, and munitions used.

In November 2016, Israel’s army said it had targeted members of the Yarmouk Martyrs
...a rebel group in southern Syria. They gained attention when they abducted 21 Filipino UN soldiers in early March 2013, releasing them on 10 March 2013. The group has been accused by other Syrian rebel groups of being affiliated with the Islamic State, which it denies. Their leader is Abo Ali al-Baridi, who denies they're takfiris. They just want to apply God’s rule and Sharia. They have been attacked by al-Nusra and other groups allied with it, probably because they're so pious...
Brigade after they fired at an Israeli soldier in the Golan Heights.

The Khalid ibn al-Walid Army was formed in May 2016, and is an alliance of several jihadist groups, the largest of them the Yarmouk Martyrs Brigade, which was listed by Washington as a terrorist group.
