Kanye West - The Cost of School Books Is Too Damn High
Rare Kanye West trifecta in play - is this how he went broke?

#3  I am afraid I have to agree with Kanye. My daughter's math book is literally lined, 3-hole notebook paper that has the coursework copied onto it. It's about 1" thick and cost 60 bucks. Another book, also lined notebook paper, cost 200 but she was able to rent it for 100.

#4  P.S., both books were "written" by the teachers of the subjects.

#5  Kanye has always been a bit loose, probably insecurity and acceptance issues which were flipped opposite with the unexpected success of some mediocre and forgettable tracks, caused by people who at one time used school books, moved to the suburbs, had kids, and kids took their allowance to the CD shop and bought his album because it was rich white kid rap.

So after marrying the lilly whitest of white people, he is trying to shore up his ego with black creds and asinine statements, some more outrageous than others, and yes scores a hat trick here.

Mark my observations of the males surrounding the Cardassians - they invariably end up with mental problems. At best Kanye will end up an overweight alcoholic, or he just might hire a modern Viking to perform a boob eagle.

I must not help that his wife's height qualified her for official ambassador of the Lollypop Guild, and he matches perfectly...if not a little bit shorter. Now, I am not a tall person myself, well except overseas, but I also don't let my mind sweep my leg, as my call to duty involves crawling through a small hole which was in the middle of a blaze thirty minutes earlier, rather than in a suburban parent's basement playing video games and trying to talk gangsta.

#7  Kanye thinks the girl race car driver in Wreck it Ralph is based on him. Or something. His mental foundation is sand. He is the talent c-list of the character in Orgasmo who says, "I am Sancho."

Being absorbed into the Cardassian Empire will only exasperate his issues.

So yeah, perfect public office material.

#5  What's with the media outrage? A guy took a government loan, made no attempt to pay it back for 29 friggin' years, and the government finally sends some muscle to collect. 'Sounds fair to me. Try ignoring repayment of a loan from "Vito" down at the union hall for 29 years - and let us know how your kneecaps are healing up.

The entire loan issue is a two sided monster - the government did in fact inflate a huge bubble, and exploit the ignorance of a lot of fools who can see no father than "Gee, this looks like free money". But - there are also legions of former students who have made good, and yet have made no effort whatsoever to pay back their loans - based on a perception of "entitlement". Well, I have no problem with them doing timer in a federal pen somewhere, to reeducate them about the truth in regards to entitlement - that being juts s progressive fiction.

'The PTSD stems from this dirty work': new film documents regretful drone pilots
[The Guardian] Speaking at the Berlin film festival, documentarian Sonia Kennebeck discusses her Wim Wenders-produced film National Bird, which reveals widespread post-traumatic stress disorder among employees of the US's drone division.

We've all seen this film before: the grainy black-and-white shot with a crosshair on top. Dark blobs moving across the screen. Then, a pause, an explosion and dust. A few moments later you can make out the bodies. Sometimes you'll see the injured, dragging themselves out of the wreckage.
...followed by wild cheering, high-fives, and applause in the SCIF or Opns Center as the A-10 makes another pass, taking out the 'squirters' as they attempt to drag themselves off.
Whatever your take on drone warfare, watching video of a strike is an upsetting experience. Now a documentary, National Bird, seeks to describe the traumatic effect that planning and executing these strikes has had on some military personnel.

#4  “I asked them how many people in the trailer had addiction problems and they said: ‘Everybody. We had three domestic violence problems, we had two drink-driving problems, six people were alcoholics.’ And we’re talking about a group of 12 people in one trailer. And it’s typical, because you hear the same stories from clients in different trailers in different places. It’s the same story. Total dysfunction.”

Maybe they should sort out the working environment and personality disorder issues first, reversing the effect:cause paradigm.

I remember long hours sitting in the can subject to any number of environmental assaults. No sunlight, no air, ozone from the electronics, forced humidity to prevent static discharge, fumes from the diesel generator or heated plastic carpet and toner in the printers, unwashed BDU butt sweat and remnants of the sausage and cabbage or fish sauce the WO had for dinner. All of this plus the EMF bouncing about inside the shielded container that caused my fillings to spark. Add to that the periodic 'covert' surveillance and interviews of family, wife and girlfriend, landlord and neighbors by OSI and you generate a paranoid complex.

Of course the OPs choose to get fried, just for psychic relief, and that introduces socially undesirable problematic behavior.

Fighting dementia: Have sex, keep your mind sharp
[The Telegraph] London - Having more sex in later life could help stave off dementia, scientists believe.

Those aged over 50 who were still active in the bedroom had sharper cognitive function, a study found. They were better able to recall lists and recognise patterns, both of which are signs of a healthy brain.

The researchers suggest this could be because during sex we experience a release of hormones such as dopamine in the brain, which are linked to feelings of reward and promote memory and learning.

The findings could provide hope for the thousands of Britons at risk of developing dementia. There are currently around 850 000 people in the UK with the disease and numbers are expected to soar to a million over the next decade. The scientists, from Coventry University, quizzed more than 6 800 people aged 50 to 89 about their sex lives and then set mental tests.

The participants were played a list of ten words and then asked to recount them straight afterwards and again after a five-minute delay. They were also given a sequence of numbers with one missing and told to complete the pattern.

Men who were sexually active scored higher by 23 percent on the word tests and three percent on the number puzzles than those who were not, while sexually active women did better by 14 percent and two percent. Better performance was still seen even when factors such as age, wealth and levels of physical activity were taken into account, the journal Age and Ageing reports.

Pauline Brown, a psychosexual counsellor, said: "Any part of the body needs to be exercised to keep in good shape and because sex triggers so many changes in the brain it will inevitably help keep it agile and capable.
If you can't remember the last time, perhaps it's too late to start.

Cancer 'vaccine' remembers disease and fights it years later developed by scientists
[Telegraph] Researchers in immunotherapy trials engineer cells so they boost body's natural defences and stand guard for lifetime - acting effectively like vaccine.

A revolutionary new cancer treatment that remembers the disease and acts like a watchman to prevent it ever returning is being developed by scientists. Researchers are engineering immune cells so that they not only boost the body's own natural defences to fight tumours, but stand guard for a lifetime - acting effectively like a vaccine.

Scientists say it is like having a "living drug", which is constantly vigilant to the return of cancer and quickly removes it from the body.

Government
Admiral (Ret) James Lyons: How to further degrade military effectiveness
[Wash Times] When you want to take a country down, the first thing you do is weaken its military. That's why "sequestration" turned out to be the perfect storm for the Obama administration. It provided the legal basis -- actually, an excuse, as in "the budget made me do it" -- for the unilateral disarmament of our military forces. Consequently, our forces have been degraded to levels not seen since prior to World War II, and in the Navy's case, not since before World War I. It should be remembered that sequestration was an Obama administration initiative.

Compounding this disastrous situation, with all the instability and challenges we face throughout the world, our once-proud and uncontested military forces have also been subjected to debilitating social engineering directives. This is being done under the mantle of "diversity." These include the removal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"; forcing women into all combat roles, including our Special Forces and Navy SEALs; and the integration of "transgender" personnel into the military. None of these directives enhance readiness or capability. Of course, the restricted Rules of Engagement our soldiers are forced to observe is another factor leading to the destruction of our military capability and effectiveness, as well as adding to the unnecessary loss of military lives.

The net effect has been to not only undermine the moral fiber of our military, but to adversely affect unit integrity, cohesiveness and most importantly, the "will to win." We most recently saw an example of this with the capture of our two 47-foot heavily armed Riverine Command Boats in the Persian Gulf on Jan. 12 by two lightly armed Iranian center console craft. "Humiliation" describes it best. This was the darkest day for the U.S. Navy since the North Korean capture of the USS Pueblo.

Another directive that will adversely affect combat readiness and effectiveness is the recent Executive Order 13653, which directs all government agencies, including the Department of Defense, to prepare for the "impacts of climatic change." The department last issued a broad directive on climate change in July 2015. President Obama has once again declared that climate change is our No. 1 national security threat. There is no doubt Russia, China, Iran and ISIS will certainly reinforce that view.

Consequently, the Pentagon has ordered all commanders down to the tactical unit level to incorporate "climate change" into every aspect of military operations, including combat, intelligence and surveillance, exercises, testing, procurement and whole hosts of other related areas, which are ill-defined. Mind-boggling.

The undersecretary of defense for acquisition, technology and logistics wrote the directive, which was approved by the Deputy Secretary of Defense Robert O. Work. It is understood that this directive provides numerous orders to service secretaries and the Joint Chiefs of Staff on how the strategy to counter climate change is to be incorporated into current war plans, operational plans and operation orders. What the secretary should have already known is that our operational planners always factor in climate and prevailing seasonal weather conditions, including all aspects of terrain. The single objective is winning -- not satisfying some faculty-lounge, ill-conceived logic on debatable climate change.

What I like to ascribe as the "1000-Flag OWG/Global Navy", IIRC officially the "UN/Global Task Force".

"WE ARE ALL PEACEKEEPERS NOW", espec iff the USDOD is intended from now on to only be able to fight a "1-to-1-1/2" Ocean War", WHERE "OCEAN" IS INTERCHANGEABLE WID "REGION", + "WAR" WID "UN-APPROVED POLICE ACTION" INCLUD "COALITION OF THE WILLING".

And thus, little Virgina, we learn once again the background as to why a DE FACTO "WEAK-N-DECLINING" USA MAY USE ADVANCED/SUPER-TECHNOLOGY TO SINK = "CAPSIZE" GUAM + OTHER STRATEGIC PACIFIC ISLANDS LIKE THE PEARL HARBOR 1941 USN BB USS "OKLAHOMA" AS THE US UNILATERALLY RETREATS OR FALLS BACK FROM EAST ASIA-WESTPAC ACROSS THE PACIFIC TO HAWAII-EASTPAC + CONUS, IN ORDER TO DENY THE ISLAND'S MIL UTILITY TO CHINA + PLA ANDOR THE GLOBAL CALIPHATE, ESPEC THE FORMER.

"A2/AD" = "Anti-Access/Area-Denial" = YOU KNOW, CHINA + US "SHARING THE PACIFIC".

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Another court setback for DOJ on withholding Fast And Furious Docs
[Legal Insurrection] Last month, Judge Amy Berman Jackson of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, presiding in Committee On Oversight And Government Reform, United States House of Representatives v. Lynch (the "House Suit"), rejected the Justice Department's assertion of the "deliberative process privilege" to withhold around 10,000 Fast and Furious documents. Judge Jackson held that DOJ had waived the privilege by previously releasing a substantial amount of information about the same documents it then sought to withhold.

I discussed Judge Jackson's decision in more detail, here.

Kanye West To White People: '€˜Please Don't Comment On Black Music'
[Daily Caller] Kanye West went on a rant asking several "white publications" to stop commenting on black music.

In a series of tweets Monday night, the 38-year-old rapper said white people don't understand what it's like to have slaves as ancestors. "To Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, New York Times and any other white publication," West wrote on Twitter. "Please do not comment on black music anymore."

His recent financial difficulties may not be his only problem. Could it be that Mr. West needs to seek some professional medical help ?

#12  OK, I will comment. Duke, Count, Louie, Robinson, Charles and Cole were all great musicians. If you really wanna get out there so was Jimi Hendrix. So were Aretha Franklin and Dionne Warwick just so I don't get accused of being sexist. There has been a great deal of music composed and performed by black musicians. West just doesn't happen to be one of them. I admit I don't go out of my way to listen to him but recently at a convenience store they had him on the radio. Repetitive and annoying are the adjectives that come to mind. I hope I'm not just an old fogey I fear it's an indication of a society in decline.

Krauthamer: GOP Must Unite In Blocking Obama Pick
[Breitbart] Columnist Charles Krauthammer argued that the replacement of Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court is "the moment of his life" for Senate Majority Leader Senator Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY)44%, and that any obstructionism charges pale in comparison to what would happen if Scalia is replaced by a liberal justice on Monday's "Special Report" on the Fox News Channel.

Krauthammer stated, "The future of the court is at stake. The future of the Scalia legacy is at stake. Whatever the effects on the election, however much the Democrats play the obstructionism charge, it pales in comparison with what would happen if Scalia were replaced by say, another Elena Kagan."

He added, "I think this is the moment of his life for Mitch McConnell. He's the ultimate Senate tactician. He knows the rules. He knows how to get around things. This is purely a decision, a political decision, how best to turn this guy down, or girl down, whoever it is, and it could go one way or the other. But that's nothing but tactics. In the end the Republicans have to be absolutely united on the fact that they will not accept an Obama nominee one way or the other."

#1  Obama has the right - the responsibility - to make a timely nomination. The Senate has a responsibility to advise on that nominee, that is, to review his qualification and appropriateness for the position. Consider that the negotiation phase. They are under no obligation to consent to the nominee. The purpose of the procedure is to prevent 'extreme' appointees and force compromise. This pattern is repeated throughout the Constitution and demonstrates the extreme concern the founders had of concentration of power. (Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely.)

COULTER: 10 Million More Votes for Trump If GOP Senate Caves to Champ
[Breitbart] Speaking to host and Breitbart News Executive Chairman Stephen K. Bannon, Coulter said, "If this had happened a year ago ... we've seen how Republicans have behaved. They're utterly craven. They would probably pass, or Senate Republicans would confirm whomever Obama sends up. They'd ring their hands. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC)37% would be leading the charge, talking about how it's the President's right to decide. Now that Donald Trump has come on the scene, I think Washington Republicans may be starting to get the message. We're really ticked off at them."

Coulter added, "Look, if they let somebody go through, I mean, I think Trump is going to win anyway but it's just going to get him another ten million votes."

Turkey vows 'harsh reaction' as missiles hit Syria town
[REUTERS] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
warned Kurdish militia fighters in northern Syria on Monday they would face the "harshest reaction" if they tried to capture a town near the Turkish border, and accused Russia of a missile attack there that killed at least 14 civilians.

An offensive supported by Russian bombing and Iranian-backed Shi'ite militias has brought the Syrian army to within 25 km (15 miles) of Turkey's border. The Kurdish YPG militia has exploited the situation, seizing ground from Syrian rebels to extend its presence along the frontier.

Almost 50 non-combatants were killed when missiles hit at least five medical facilities and two schools in rebel-held areas of Syria on Monday, according to the United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
, which called the attacks a blatant violation of international laws.

At least 14 were killed in the town of Azaz, the last rebel stronghold before the border with Turkey, when missiles hit a children's hospital and a school sheltering refugees, a medic and two residents said.

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said a Russian missile had hit the buildings and that many civilians including children had been killed.

Turkey shelled YPG positions for a third day to try to stop its fighters seizing Azaz, just 8 km (5 miles) from the border. Ankara fears the Kurdish militia, backed by Russia, are trying to secure the last stretch of around 100 km (60 miles) along the Syrian border not already under its control.

"We will not allow Azaz to fall," Davutoglu told news hounds on his plane on the way to Ukraine.

YPG fighters would already have taken Azaz and Tal Rifaat further south had it not been for Turkish artillery firing at them over the weekend, he said.

Europe ends sanctions on Belarus, seeks better ties
[IN.REUTERS] The European Union

ended five years of sanctions against Belarus and its authoritarian President Alexander Lukashenko on Monday, citing improving human rights
One man's rights are another man's existential threat.
as the bloc seeks more friends in Russia's back yard.

A peaceful presidential election in October, the release of political prisoners and Lukashenko's role in holding Ukraine-Russia peace talks in Minsk have improved ties with the man who the United States once said runs Europe's last dictatorship.

"This decision is not taken under the illusion that Belarus is changing overnight," Germany's Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said, underlining what the European Union insists is its sober but constructive approach to the former soviet state.

Announcing its decision at a foreign ministers' meeting in Brussels, the European Union said it will maintain its arms embargo on Belarus and will keep sanctions for another year on four men suspected of being behind the disappearances of two opposition politicians, a businessman, and a journalist.

The sanctions -- on 170 people, including Lukashenko, and three companies -- were already lifted for four months at the end of October in a gesture to Lukashenko. Monday's decision means they will end definitively on March 1.

The European Union has pushed for democratic change in Belarus but is now shifting its approach to engage rather than isolate its neighbours in central and eastern Europe, as well as to counter what it sees as a newly aggressive Russia, which annexed Ukraine's Crimea peninsula in 2014.

IED blast in South Waziristan kills security man
PESHAWAR: One security personnel was killed and another sustained injuries in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Wana, a town in South Waziristan, security sources said.

An IED planted on the roadside struck a security forces’ vehicle in Talai area of South Waziristan, killing one security official. The injured was taken to Combined Military Hospital Peshawar for treatment. Security forces cordoned off the area after the explosion and started a search operation to apprehend suspects involved in the attack.

Homemade roadside bombs are a major weapon of militants who attack government forces in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and tribal districts. Pakistan’s army largely cleared militants from South Waziristan in a 2009 operation. Soldiers now are fighting militants in North Waziristan in operation Zarb-i-Azb that began in June 2014. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for Monday’s blast.

Soldier lightly hurt in clash with Palestinians near Ramallah
[IsraelTimes] 28 rioters said injured as IDF tries to disperse a protest in al-Am'ari refugee camp in the West Bank

An IDF soldier was lightly injured Monday morning during a clash with Paleostinians who threw rocks and homemade bombs at the troops outside of Ramallah, an army spokesperson said.

The troops were conducting "routine activities" in the area, near al-Am'ari refugee camp outside of Ramallah in the West Bank, the IDF said, when dozens of local Paleostinians began pelting them with homemade explosives and stones.

"The soldiers called for the demonstrators to stop the violence, using riot dispersal means," a spokesperson said.

As the demonstration persisted, the troops fired live rounds at "main instigators," the IDF said.

During the clash, 28 Paleostinians were maimed to varying degrees, some from tear gas inhalation and others from rubber bullet wounds, according to the Paleostinian Authority health ministry.

Israel Radio, citing Paleostinian sources, said five were maimed by live fire.

The maimed soldier was taken to Jerusalem's Shaare Zedek Medical Center for treatment, the army said.

Though many of the rioters expeditiously departed at a goodly pace shortly after the IDF switched to live-fire rounds, the demonstration continued into the afternoon.

The soldiers had been in the refugee camp in order to arrest an arms dealer named Ayman Abu Arab, who was not at home, according to the Paleostinian Ma'an news site.

Hezbollah Operates Air Defense Missiles against Zionist Warplanes: Israel
[ALMANAR.LB] The Zionist entity asserted that Hezbollah has obtained sophisticated Russian air defense systems after managing to transmit them from Syria to Leb despite the Israeli military measures to frustrate the smuggling operations.

The Lebanese newspaper, Al-Akhbar, quoted senior military sources in the Israeli army as saying that Hezbollah did operate the air defense missiles and direct the missiles towards the Zionist warplanes.

According to the same sources, Hezbollah is implicitly threatening "Israel" of downing its warplanes over the Lebanese airspace.

The Israeli sources noted that Hezbollah air defense technology is capable of detecting the Zionist jets, adding that the Zionist military pilots, who got accustomed to flying freely over Leb, are facing new challenges.

Since Russia started its military operations in Syria, Hezbollah commenced setting and directing his radars and air defense missiles, deployed in Leb, to track the Israeli jets, the Zionist sources pointed out.

Jordan's Muslim Brotherhood cuts ties to Egypt's parent group
[AlAhram] Jordan's branch of the Moslem Brüderbund has formally cut ties with the region-wide movement based in Egypt, a front man said Monday.

The decision is the latest setback for the wider Brotherhood, once seen as the main political beneficiary of the 2011 Arab Spring uprisings but hit hard in recent years by government crackdowns.

The Jordanian branch has undergone several splits over the past year, with breakaway groups emphasizing a domestic agenda.

The original core group decided late last week, in a meeting of its main decision-making body, or Shura Council, to change its bylaws and cut ties with the parent movement, said a front man, Moath Khawaldeh.

"On Thursday, the Shura Council met and amended the basic law, disconnecting the Moslem Brüderbund in Jordan from Egypt," he said.

Egypt's Brotherhood, from which ousted Islamist president Mohammed Morsi hails, is declared a terrorist organization in the country.

Khawaldeh said the decision is part of reform efforts ahead of internal elections next month.

Jordanian analyst Ibrahim Gharaibeh said he believes the core group came to see its parent movement as an increasing liability. "This led to political concerns (for the group) in Jordan and the group's ability to survive," he said.

Three relatively pragmatic groups have broken away from the more hawkish Brotherhood core group and its political arm, the Islamic Action Front

Terror attack on school was a prank, five students arrested
KARACHI: Initially reported as an act of terror, the attack on a private school in North Nazimabad area of the metropolis turned out to be a firecracker explosion by high-school students, with the police arresting five students on Monday over their alleged involvement in the incident.

According to DIG West Feroz Shah, five students of Educators campus-I in North Nazimabad were taken into custody after the investigation into the reported grenade attack revealed that the students brought firecrackers in a bid to play a prank, following the school administration's refusal to let them appear for upcoming examinations over non-payment of school fees.

"The police took one injured student into custody for investigation, since he was the only one injured in the incident and the student confessed that he and other students had bought firecrackers which exploded accidentally," said the DIG.

The incident was reported on Friday along with two other minor blasts, one at police station in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, and the other at girls’ college in Karimabad.

Arabia
UAE court gives four death sentence for supporting ISIS
[Al Arabiya] A top court in the United Arab Emirates on Sunday sentenced four men to death in absentia for joining the militant ISIS group, local media reported on Sunday.

The Dubai-based Gulf News said the four Emiratis whose ages ranged from 18 to 29, were found guilty for joining ISIS and fighting alongside the militant group’s members in Syria.

The official Emirates News Agency (WAM) said the death sentences were handed out by the Federal Supreme Court, headed by Judge Mohammed Al-Tunaiji, who issued a series of verdicts against six other defendants accused of supporting ISIS or the Iran-backed Houthi militia group in Yemen.

Judge Tunaiji gave three defendants a 10-year jail term each, two others received five-year in prison and one landed a three-year sentence. However, one was found not guilty.

WAM described the defendants as local Emirati nationals and others who hailed from Gulf and Arab countries.

They “were charged with travelling to join the terrorist organization [ISIS] after entering the territory of an Arab country and taking part in various activities of the organization,” WAM said.

The defendants were accused of “promoting the group at a public place, providing funds, managing a website to promote the organization’s ideas, and damaging the state’s reputation and prestige and insulting the state’s symbols,” it added.

Meanwhile, the three defendants – two Yemenis and one Omani - were found guilty for funding the Houthis and “providing them with chemicals, communication equipment, among other supplies,” Gulf News reported.

Abu Dhabi’s Federal Supreme Court does not allow international media access to such trials.

The sentences come after the trial of an Emirati man, claimed to be the local ISIS leader in the Gulf country in late January.

The United Arab Emirates is a member of the U.S.-led coalition that has been bombing ISIS since September 2014.

UAE authorities have enacted tougher anti-terror legislation, including harsher jail terms and even introducing the death penalty for crimes linked to religious hatred and “takfiri groups.”

[Dhaka Tribune] "Pak Khaleda, Pakistain-e chole ja," protesters belonging to the Awami League-led 14-party alliance chanted in Russel Square on Dhanmondi's road 32, on Monday afternoon.

The slogan meaning "Pak Khaleda, go back to Pakistain," is aimed at BNP Chairperson the loathesome Khaleda Zia
Three-term PM of Bangla, widow of deceased dictator Ziaur Rahman, head of the Bangla Nationalist Party, an apparent magnet for corruption ...
whose questioning of the number of Bangalees killed during the 1971 Liberation War has been widely criticised.

After forming a human chain at around 3:30pm leaders of the 14-party alliance, together with activists and supporters, spilled over into the streets at the busy intersection.

The rallies had been organised by the 14-party alliance to protest against Pakistain's "repeated attempts to interfere in Bangladesh's internal politics" and against Khaleda's remarks doubting the number of Bangalees martyred during the Liberation War.

Simultaneous rallies were held on Dhanmondi's road 27 and at 12 other points in the capital.

[DAWN] Armed forces from around 20 countries including Pakistain and Malaysia are gathering in northern Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
Sunday for "the largest, most important military manoeuvres" ever staged in the region, the official news agency SPA reported.

The "Thunder of the North" exercise involving ground, air, and naval forces sends a "clear message" that Riyadh and its allies "stand united in confronting all challenges and preserving peace and stability in the region", SPA said.

Saudi Arabia is currently leading a military campaign against Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...

Talks with Pakistan not conditional on Pathankot probe, says Indian envoy
[DAWN] Foreign secretary level talks between Pakistain and India are not conditional to the Pathankot airbase attack probe, said the Indian High Commissioner Gautam Bambawaly on Monday.

The Indian envoy also stated that India and Pakistain are in constant contact to hold foreign secretary level talks in the near future.

"I can not give any particular date for the secretary level talks, but foreign secretaries from both countries are in constant contact," explained the Indian envoy.

After a series of high-level contacts starting with an ice-breaking meeting in Gay Paree between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif

Around 50 dead as missiles hit medical centers and schools in Syrian towns
[REUTERS] About 50 non-combatants were killed when missiles hit five medical centers and two schools in rebel-held Syrian towns on Monday, the United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
and residents said.

The carnage occurred as Russian-backed Syrian troops intensified their push toward the rebel stronghold of Aleppo.

Fourteen people were killed in the town of Azaz near the Turkish border when missiles slammed into a school sheltering families fleeing the offensive and a children's hospital, two residents and a medic said.

Bombs also hit another refugee shelter south of the town and a convoy of trucks, another resident said.

"We have been moving scores of screaming children from the hospital," medic Juma Rahal said.

At least two children were killed and scores of people injured, he said.

Activists posted video online purporting to show the damaged hospital. Three crying babies lay in incubators in a ward littered with broken medical equipment. Rooters could not independently verify the video.

In a separate incident, missiles hit another hospital in the town of Marat Numan in Idlib province, in northwestern Syria, said the French president of the Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) charity, which was supporting the hospital.

"There were at least seven deaths among the personnel and the patients, and at least eight MSF personnel have disappeared, and we don't know if they are alive," Mego Terzian told Rooters.

Samarra's Sunnis fear displacement a decade after Iraq shrine attack
[REUTERS] Sunlight once again glints off the golden dome of one of Shi'ite Islam's holiest shrines, almost fully restored 10 years after suspected al Qaeda holy warriors blew it up in northern Iraq.

But as Shi'ite influence grows in Samarra, shops and homes around al-Askari shrine owned by residents of the mainly Sunni city have been shut, amidst fears of forced displacement and splintering of the area along sectarian lines.

The shrine's destruction on February 22, 2006 sparked a wave of Dire Revenge attacks that killed tens of thousand of people and plunged Iraq into a sectarian civil war. No one was injured in the bombing itself.

In the attack, gunnies in police uniforms burst into the shrine, tied up guards and planted explosives that brought down its 100-year-old dome, one of the Muslim world's biggest and best known. Another blast in 2007 destroyed two golden minarets.

Communal blood-letting has abated, but the Samarra residents' concerns reflect those of many in Iraq's Sunni minority, who fear expulsion from sensitive areas they say the ascendant Shi'ite majority wants to control.

Sunnis point to violence like last month's attacks in eastern Diyala province as proof they are still not safe more than a decade after the U.S.-led invasion that toppled Saddam Hussein, a Sunni from north of Samarra.

2016 Harry Reid allies to Team Clinton: Don't slam Nevada's caucus
[POLITICO] With five days to go until the Nevada caucuses -- once viewed as Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as America's Blond Eminence and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Elihu Root ...
's Western firewall -- Sen. Harry Reid
... the charismatic senator-for-life from Nevada, currently majority leader ...
and his allies are incensed at the maimed Democratic front-runner.
It's way too white, y'understand. They don't want it anyway. Uck. Yucky..
The campaign's recent assertion that Nevada is "still a state that is 80 percent white voters" -- in other words, a state that looks a lot like Bernie Sanders
...The only openly Socialist member of the U.S. Senate. Sanders was Representative-for-Life from Vermont until moving to the Senate for the rest of his life in 2006, assuming the seat vacated by Jim Jeffords...
' base -- is simply wrong, Reid allies claim. But more galling than that, they say, it undermines the entire rationale for the caucuses' existence: The state was pushed to the front of the election calendar eight years ago solely because Reid lobbied for better demographic representation than the overwhelmingly white early-voting states like Iowa and New Hampshire.

"Harry Reid pushed hard to move Nevada near the front of the primary calendar precisely because of its diversity," a source close to the Senate minority leader said last week after the Clinton team pushed the "white Nevada" narrative in a series of conferences calls to donors and politicians on the Hill, as well as in television interviews (Clinton operatives have since appeared to back off that argument).

Sindh Assembly approves Hindu Marriage Bill
[DAWN] For the first time in the country's history, marriage laws for millions of Hindus living in Sindh have been codified after the Sindh Assembly approved the Hindu Marriage Bill, 2016, on Monday.

Senior PPP leader and Sindh Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Nisar Ahmad Khuhro moved the bill in the provincial assembly which was later passed after a debate between the opposition and treasury benches.

The bride and groom cannot be less than 18 years, according to the text of the approved draft.

Married couples will be required to obtain a marriage registration certificate, while a couple can also face fines in case their marriage is not registered. The law can be applied retroactively to existing marriages.

Zoroastrians and Sikhs will also be able to register their marriages under the new law.

Hindus, despite being the second-largest religious minority group in Pakistain, with a population of 3.3 million, had no legal mechanism to register marriages.

Anti-Migrant Force Builds In Europe, Hurting Merkel's Quest
[HOSTED.AP.ORG] So where should the next impenetrable razor-wire border fence in Europe be built?

Hungary's right-wing Prime Minister Viktor Orban thinks he knows the best place - on Macedonia's and Bulgaria's borders with Greece - smack along the main immigration route from the Middle East to Western Europe. He says it's necessary because "Greece can't defend Europe from the south" against the large numbers of refugees pouring in, mainly from Syria and Iraq.

The plan is especially controversial because it effectively means eliminating Greece from the Schengen zone, Europe's 26-nation passport-free travel region that is considered one of the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
's most cherished achievements.

Orban's plan featured prominently Monday at a meeting in Prague of leaders from four nations in an informal gathering known as the Visegrad group: Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The Visegrad group, formed 25 years ago to further the nations' European integration, is marking that anniversary Monday. Still, it has only recently found a common purpose in its unified opposition to accepting any significant number of migrants.

Australia busts $900 million of meth smuggled in bra inserts, art supplies
[USATODAY] Australian authorities found $900 million worth of liquid methamphetamine smuggled inside gel bra inserts and art equipment, one of the largest drug busts in the nation's history.

The investigation began after the raiding of a shipping container in December revealed 86 boxes of bra inserts holding 190 liters of liquid meth, also called "ice," the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

A joint effort between five Australian agencies reportedly later found 530 more liters of liquid meth hidden in art supplies--including paint-by-numbers kits for children-- across five storage units in suburban Sydney.

"This has resulted in 3.6 million individual hits of ice being taken off our streets," New South Wales justice Michael Keenan told news hounds Monday, putting estimated value of the drugs at $1.26 billion Australian dollars.

Authorities charged three Hong Kong nationals and one Chinese national related to involvement in the importation and manufacturing of the drugs.

Three arrests linked to the art supplies came on January 25, including a 37-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman--both from Hong Kong--as well as a 59-year-old male Chinese national, the Herald reported.

Ugandan police clash with opposition as presidential poll nears
[REUTERS] Ugandan police fought running battles with supporters of opposition leader Kizza Besigye in Kampala, in the worst outbreak of violence yet during campaigning for Thursday's presidential election.

Several people were maimed on Monday as police fired bullets and tear gas while opposition supporters hurled rocks and erected street barricades in the capital's Wandegeya suburb, witnesses said. Hours earlier, police briefly detained Besigye.

"I have seen people shot although we're yet to know how many exactly," said Ingrid Turinawe, a bigwig from Besigye's Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party.

"Many people (were) on the road bleeding, the situation is still very tense."

Besigye is expected to be one of two main election challengers to veteran leader Yoweri Museveni, who will attempt to extend a 30-year hold on power that his opponents say has been increasingly underpinned by state intimidation and rampant corruption.

Several opposition supporters were placed in durance vile
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
on Monday, said a Rooters photographer who also saw one person passed out in a large pool of blood, either dead or critically maimed.

Witnesses said streets were calmer in the evening but the violence has fuelled tensions before the Feb. 18 election, which Besigye and six other candidates will contest alongside Museveni.

University tells students to report 'incidents of discomfort' to campus police
[THECOLLEGEFIX] The University of Portland has launched a "Speak Up" webpage that encourages students to report "incidents of discomfort" to its Public Safety department.
That sort of stupidity makes me very uncomfortable. Who do I call?
"We ask members of our community to SPEAK UP and report alleged incidents of discrimination and incidents of discomfort regarding observed or experienced interactions of intolerance," the university states on the webpage.

The top resource listed under "Reporting Options" is the university's Public Safety department, which operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and includes a director, two sergeants and nine public safety officers, the department reports.

Afghanistan
New Taliban Faction Emerges In Paktika
[Tolo News] A new faction of the Taliban has reportedly emerged in Paktika
...which coincidentally borders South Wazoo...
province of Afghanistan - a faction that claims it will wage war against foreign-funded groups.

Mullah Obidullah Hunar is believed to be the leader of newly formed group and claims that Mullah Akhtar Mansour is funded by Pak intelligence and therefore they do not recognize him as their leader.

The newly emerged Taliban faction said that after this they will conduct Jihad against groups funded by Pakistain intelligence.

"Our judge and court stay hidden in Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.
. For this I don't accept such judge and court and they cannot select our leader," Hunar said.

"I will not become a Pakistain slave and I will not let my tribe become one either. I do not accept such Talibs who are funded by Pakistain and get their orders from Islamabad," he said.

After the news emerged last year of the death of the Taliban leader Mullah Omar
... a minor Pashtun commander in the war against the Soviets who made good as leader of the Taliban. As ruler of Afghanistan, he took the title Leader of the Faithful. The imposition of Pashtunkhwa on the nation institutionalized ignorance and brutality in a country already notable for its own fair share of ignorance and brutality...
, Mullah Akhtar Mansour was announced as his successor. This move has been faced with much criticism and the Taliban as a group has split into a number of factions.

Kerry Jokes About Making Another Run for President
[WEEKLYSTANDARD] Secretary of State John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry
Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, and current Secretary of State...

Kerry made the joke in Germany over the weekend, where he was speaking at the Munich Security Conference.

"Thank you, Wolfgang. Thank you very much. Well, Wolfgang, thank you for reminding me that everything I'm doing now is a last," Kerry said as he began his remarks, thanking the chairman of the conference, Wolfgang Ischinger.

"It's a little -- depending on what I decide to do, so maybe not," Kerry said, alluding to a possible run. The audience laughed.

"I am really happy to be back in Munich and I'm very happy to share thoughts with this, the 52nd edition of the Security Conference."

Israel arrests head of Fatah armed wing
[IsraelTimes] The IDF arrested the head of the Tanzim terrorist organization, a faction of Fatah, overnight Sunday, the Shin Bet security services announces. Jamal Abu Lel, 48, ran Tanzim out of the Qalandiya refugee camp outside of Ramallah, the Shin Bet says.

Through the organization, Abu Lel worked to funnel money and direct shooting attacks against Israelis, the security services says in a statement. The Shin Bet does not detail who the money is funneled to, but says “money was transferred in order to finance militant activities.”

Abu Lel is a resident of Kfar Aqab, an East Jerusalem neighborhood, and possesses an Israeli ID card.

Afghanistan
Afghan Forces Struggle To Make Gains In Volatile Dand-e-Ghori
[Tolo News] Overall security in Dand-e-Ghori district of Baghlan province in northern Afghanistan has drastically deteriorated in recent weeks while an increase in holy warrior attacks against security forces in the area has been recorded.

With no end to festivities between security forces and the Taliban in sight, some Afghan security personnel on Monday said that planting of landmines by holy warriors, the presence of the Taliban inside residential areas and a halt in air strikes have prevented security forces from storming the area and eliminating the Taliban .

"We do not feel fear from anyone, the boys (army soldiers) are moving forward to the warfront," an Afghan soldier in the area said Monday.

As violence in Dand-e-Ghori continues, Afghan security institutions have sent in reinforcements to the area to end the Taliban siege and liberate the war-hit district.

"They have established defense shields inside residential areas. The Taliban are deployed inside homes, they have established strong trenches during this period," another soldier said.

The stoppage of air strikes is another huge challenge which is undermining the Afghan troops' struggle to push back the Taliban.

"The enemy continues to resist in their bases, but these bases are not so strong that they cannot be broken. After reconnecting electricity to Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
(after Taliban destroyed pylons), we will launch special operations and a major clearance operation in Dand-e-Ghori," Afghan army chief general Qadam Shah Shaheem said.

Dand-e-Ghori has strategic importance as it connects northern and northeastern regions of the country. The presence of the Lions of Islam in the area threatens the security of northern areas.

... has stated that he is certainly a big Thatcher fan, but I don't know whether that makes me a Thatcherite, which means he's not. Since he is not deeply ideological he lacks core principles and is easily led. He has been described as certainly not a Pitt, Elder or Younger, but he does wear a nice suit so maybe he's Beau Brummel ...
On a final push to rally support in Europe before Thursday's summit in Brussels, which could sway Britons voting in a referendum to stay or leave the EU, Cameron met Hollande for an hour and will meet members of a wary European Parliament on Tuesday.

"There's a political will to conclude in Brussels," the French presidency source said. "There is still work to be done, especially on economic governance."

The French are seeking to limit any British right to interfere in euro zone decisions, and ensure Britannia commits to allowing further integration of the euro area, a diplomatic source said.

Prosecutors: most suspects in Cologne New Year's Eve attacks are refugees
BERLIN (AP) -- Prosecutors say most suspects in a series of robberies and sexual assaults in Cologne
...a lovely city in Germany. They invented perfume there...
at New Year's are refugees.

Cologne prosecutor Ulrich Bremer says 73 suspects have so far been identified, of whom 12 are linked to sexual assaults.

He says recent reports describing only three of the suspects as refugees are "total nonsense."

Bremer told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named on Monday that "the overwhelming majority of persons fall into the general category of refugees."

Some entered Germany saying they wanted to apply for asylum, others have formally filed an application.

Among the 15 suspects who are in jug is a Moroccan asylum-seeker who entered Germany in November.

A total of 1,075 criminal complaints have been filed, including 467 alleging crimes of a sexual nature ranging from insults to rape.
Bretbart has the back story on those recent reports here.

Spitzer accuser heads to Russia after alleged assault at Plaza
[NYPOST] The woman who accused ex-Gov. Eliot Spitzer of choking her during a fight at the Plaza Hotel hopped on a Russia-bound airplane after refusing to press charges, law enforcement sources said Monday.

Svetlana Travis, 25, took a 7:30 p.m. Sunday flight from JFK Airport to Moscow, using a ticket she had purchased in advance, the sources said.

"She said she just wanted to go back to Russia," one source said.

"She was lucid. She insisted on going...and there were no grounds for us to keep her here."

Travis first dropped her bombshell allegation against Spitzer at Roosevelt Hospital, where she was treated Saturday night for a superficial cut to her forearm that she said she inflicted on herself with a broken wine glass, sources said.

Loretta Lynch 'Most Likely Candidate' to Replace Scalia
[NBCNEWS] A leading Supreme Court analyst thinks Attorney General Loretta Lynch is the "most likely candidate" to replace the late conservative Justice Antonin Scalia.

Tom Goldstein, who runs the influential SCOTUSblog, had earlier predicted Ninth Circuit Judge Paul Watford would make the top of President B.O.'s shortlist. But in a revised blog post, Goldstein said he now believes Lynch is the leading contender.

Lynch is a "very serious possibility," Goldstein wrote. "The fact that Lynch was vetted so recently for attorney general also makes it practical for the president to nominate her in relatively short order."

University reopens after attack; teachers allowed weapons
PESHAWAR: The Bacha Khan University reopened for classes on Monday with teachers - but not students - allowed to carry weapons.

Taliban militants have threatened more assaults on schools and universities since the Jan 20 attack on the university in Charsadda, fueling a growing sense of insecurity in the country.

The attack had reminded the people of the horrors that took place a little over a year earlier, when militants massacred 134 pupils at an army school just 31 km away, in Peshawar, the main city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Before Monday’s reopening, the university took extra security measures, installing new CCTV cameras, hiring more armed guards, and raising the height of boundary walls, vice chancellor Fazal Rahim Marwat said.

The university also decided that teachers could continue to carry their own licensed weapons as long as they do not display them in classrooms, Marwat said.

A chemistry professor who was killed during last month’s assault had been lauded as a hero for firing back at the attackers. But Marwat said the school decided to reject a request from some teachers to issue them firearms.

“After taking whatever security measures were possible for protection of students and faculty members, we have opened the university for classes?,” Marwat said.

Students who owned weapons had to submit them at the entrance of the campus, he said.

Many of the returning students arrived at the campus with their parents and relatives, who waited while they went to classes. Several, however, were still too traumatised to attend school or were made to stay home by scared parents.

ISIS executes man in Hasakah
[ARA News] HASAKAH – Extremists of the Islamic State (ISIS) executed on Monday a man in the city of Shaddadi in Syria’s northeastern Hasakah province, after accusing him of “insulting the Caliphate”.

Saleh al-Rahim, 48, was publicly beheaded in central Shaddadi.

“ISIS claimed that al-Rahim has refused to pay taxes to the al-Hisba (taxation) department, which the group considered a violation to its rules and an act of insult to the ISIS self-declared Caliphate,” rights activist Ahmed Hussaini told ARA News in Shaddadi.

The man was arrested at an ISIS security checkpoint near the village of Sarb in the vicinity of Shaddadi while trying to escape the ISIS-held area towards Hasakah city.

The victim was brutally beheaded in front of hundreds of people in Shaddadi’s central square, after one of the militants read a statement accusing him of insulting the Caliphate and deserving the death penalty, according to local sources.

The city of Shaddadi is deemed the main bastion for ISIS jihadis in Hasakah province –where the group has recently lost large territories to the western-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

Afghanistan
Rights Body Slams Taliban For High Civilian Death Toll
Why would the Taliban care about the censure of unbelievers?
[Tolo News] The Institute For Human Rights Studies on Monday blasted the Taliban for their role in the high civilian corpse count in Afghanistan, and called on the group to stop spilling to blood of innocent Afghans.

"The civilian corpse count hit unprecedented heights in 2015. We as human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
study institutions blame Taliban Lions of Islam for the corpse count," Laila Jaffary, head of the Institute For Human Rights Studies said.

In addition, the institute called on gangs to value the lives of the civilians during their military campaigns.

"The people of Afghanistan, children and women should no longer be sacrificed for insurgency. I want to call on bully boyz to avoid posing further destruction to the people of Afghanistan and avoid sacrificing their own for a regional game," a member of the Institute for Human Rights Studies Faiz Ahmad Sadaq, said.

The statements come a day after the United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) on Sunday launched its Protection of Civilians in Armed Conflict Annual Report 2015 and said that last year they recorded the highest number of civilian casualties in a single year in Afghanistan.

The annual report, produced by UNAMA in coordination with the UN Human Rights Office, shows that increased ground fighting in and around populated areas, along with suicide and other attacks in major cities, were the main causes of conflict-related civilian deaths and injuries in 2015.

Nicholas Haysom, the Secretary-General's Special Representative for Afghanistan and head of UNAMA said in a statement: "This report records yet another rise in the number of civilians hurt or killed. The harm done to civilians is totally unacceptable."

He went on to say: "We call on those inflicting this pain on the people of Afghanistan to take concrete action to protect civilians and put a stop to the killing and maiming of civilians in 2016."

Meanwhile,
...back at the saw mill, Scarface Al had tied Little Nell to the log and was about to turn on the buzz saw...
speaking at a presser to launch the report, Danielle Bell, Director Human Rights Unit, UNAMA, said conflict-related violence is increasingly impacting Afghan civilians. "Last year, UNAMA documented 3,545 civilian deaths and 7,457 injured (a total of 11,002 civilian casualties), a four percent increase from 2014, and the highest number of total civilian casualties recorded in a single year by UNAMA," she said.

Indonesia Nabs IS-Linked Groups 'Planning Terror Attacks'
[AnNahar] Indonesian police have tossed in the calaboose
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
dozens of people from radical Islamic groups who were plotting attacks against the airport and other targets in the near future, the national police chief said Monday.

The 33 people were arrested by the police anti-terror unit following last month's attacks in Jakarta which killed four civilians and four assailants, Badrodin Haiti said.

The gun and suicide kabooms claimed by the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group and centered around a Starbucks outlet were the country's worst terror incident in seven years, ending a long lull in major terror.

Police have launched a crackdown across the country, saying they suspect a broader krazed killer network helped carry out the assault.

Seventeen of those arrested were directly linked to the Jakarta attacks, while 16 others were members of three other radical groups, Haiti said.

A group led by an krazed killer called Hendro Fernando had received 1.3 billion rupiah ($97,000) from Jordan, Iraq and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, he said, adding that it planned to launch attacks against Jakarta's main airport and the national police headquarters.

Haiti said another group led by a person identified only as 'Helmi' planned to use a boom-mobile to attack the Jakarta cop shoppe in the city's main business district.

A third group, according to the police chief, planned stabbing attacks on traffic police.

"Terrorism attacks will still happen in the future because there are other groups who are linked to Bahrun Naim in Syria," he said.

Bahrun Naim is one of three high-profile Indonesians fighting for the Islamic State group in Syria. Police say he played a central role in motivating groups in Indonesia to launch attacks in the country.

"(Naim) explained and gave motivation about launching a holy war and explained how to make bombs and said that he would send money to anyone who is ready to engage in terrorist acts," Haiti said.

Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim-majority country, suffered several major kabooms by Islamic Lions of Islam between 2000 and 2009, including the 2002 Bali bombings that killed 202 people.

A subsequent crackdown weakened the most dangerous krazed killer networks.

Police now say the biggest threat comes from two main sources -- Indonesians in Syria encouraging local groups to launch attacks, and Indonesians who return home from fighting in the Middle East.

There are currently 392 Indonesians fighting for IS in Syria and over 50 more are thought to be preparing to leave for the country, police said.

Afghanistan
Sayyaf Suggests Mujahedeen Be Allowed To Help Defend The Country
[Tolo News] Prominent former Jihadi commander Abdul Rasoul Sayyaf on Monday warned the government against side lining the Mujahedeen regarding issues of national interest such as security and national defense.

He called on government leaders to consider a larger role for them to defend national illusory sovereignty and the people.

Speaking at a gathering marking the 27th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan, Sayyaf urged government to give the Mujahedeen a part in defending the country in order to help thwart threats against the political system and the country.

Sayyaf said that if the government does not allow the Mujahedeen to help defend the country, then the Mujahedeen will intervene, a move which according to Sayyaf would have negative consequences.

The gathering was also attended by several other Jihadi figures. In their speeches, they accused the government of pushing the Mujahedeen to the sidelines, which according to them has also led to an unprecedented surge on security threats.

"The security situation is getting worse day by day. The system must take our calls into consideration as it is failing to maintain security and failing to push the enemy back. This is just because they (government) have tightened the hands of the Mujahedeen deliberately or in ignorance," Sayyaf said.

He said that the continuation of the current situation could pose serious threats to Afghanistan's stability. He also announced that a plan has been formulated by the Jihadi commanders for security and economic development. This will be shared with the people and the government in the near future, he said.

"If they (government) do not allow the nation to secure its national illusory sovereignty and defend the country, then the responsibility of what could happen tomorrow will be on those who have bound the hands and legs of the people. They (government officials) have their passports in their pockets and whatever happens tomorrow, only the oppressed nation of this country will be burnt in the smoke and fire of the invaders," he said.

He said that government rules the people by force, warning that government must step up efforts and let the people contribute to the security of the country within the framework of the system, otherwise, the people will act.

"If people are not allowed to mobilize against the enemy to defend the country, then the people will be compelled to take action and defend their soil, this will undoubtedly lead to disorder and we do not support it," Sayyaf said.

Referring to recent efforts for brokering peace talks with the Taliban, Sayyaf said that these talks could be a conspiracy to divide the country as there is no clear indication of whom we are negotiating with.

"Anyone who engages in the talks must be a true son of this soil. We support any move for peace. But on condition that the talks are not conducted on the basis of ethnicity, language and geography. I want to urge the Taliban as well not to be fooled by any plot which can disintegrate Afghanistan, the unity of Afghanistan's geography is quite important," Sayyaf added.

Touching on the issue of parliamentary and provincial council elections, Sayyaf said that the timeline for the elections announced by the government was not appropriate.

In addition, some members of the Solidarity and Protection Council of Afghanistan also highlighted the threat emerging from Daesh [Islamic State] and Taliban and raised questions over possible plots.

Two Police Dead in Car Bomb Blast in Russia's North Caucasus
[AnNahar] Two Russian coppers died and many people were maimed in a boom-mobile blast at a checkpoint in the North Caucasus region of Dagestan
...a formerly inoffensive Caucasus republic currently bedevilled by low-level Islamic insurgency, occasional outbreaks of separatism, ethnic tensions and terrorism, primarily due to its proximity to Chechnya. There are several dozen ethnic groups, most of which speak either Caucasian, Turkic, or Iranian languages. Largest among these ethnic groups are the Avar, Dargin, Kumyk, Lezgin, and Laks. While Russers form less than five percent of the population, Russian remains the primary official language and the lingua franca...
on Monday, the interior ministry said.

The blast occurred as coppers were attempting to inspect a Lada car at a checkpoint near the village of Dzhemikent on the Caspian Sea, the interior ministry's district office said in a statement.

"Two coppers died and two more were hospitalized with injuries," it said.

A source in the region's security forces was quoted by TASS news agency as saying the blast was a suicide kaboom.

"There is only a piece of the head left from the jacket wallah, a foot and a hand. One of the fingers that's left will help identify him," the source said. "The car was sold recently, its previous owner has been identified."

Head of the region Ramazan Abdulatipov said a total of 18 people were maimed.

Russia's anti-terrorist committee (NAK) said the blast was caused by a device placed in a car based on two artillery shells and was equivalent to 30 kilograms of TNT.

"The blast happened inside a passenger car," said a NAK statement quoted by news agencies.

Dagestan has been gripped by nearly daily violence for years due to a simmering Islamist insurgency there, though it has abated during the conflict in Syria which has seen an exodus of Russians from the North Caucasus to join the jihadist fighters in the Islamic State

Arabia
Saudi border guard killed in shelling from Yemen
[AlArabiya] Shelling from Yemen has killed a Saudi border guard on duty on the southern frontier, the interior ministry said on Monday.

He died during a bombardment on Sunday evening of a border post in the Al-Harth sector of Jazan region, it said in a statement published by the official SPA news agency.

More than 90 civilians and soldiers have died in shelling and skirmishes along the border since last March, when a Saudi-led coalition launched a military intervention in Yemen.

The coalition is backing Yemen's government against Iran-supported Shiite Houthi rebels and their allies who overran the capital Sanaa in September 2014.

The United Nations says more than 6,100 people have been killed in the fighting since March, about half of them civilians.

US warbirds hit ISIS oil facilities in Deir ez-Zor
[ARA News] QAMISHLI – Warplanes of the U.S.-led coalition bombed oil facilities for the radical group of Islamic State (ISIS) in eastern Syria on Monday, activists reported.

The coalition hit oil wells and refineries in the al-Ward oil field in Syria’s eastern province of Deir ez-Zor with several airstrikes.

Al-Ward is one of the main Syrian oil fields under ISIS control. The extremist group relies on selling oil in the black market in order to fund its operations in the region.

“The western coalition targeted the ISIS-held oil facilities in al-Ward field with more than five airstrikes on Monday, destroying several oil wells and crude refineries,” media activist Anass Amin told ARA News in Deir ez-Zor.

Dozens of pro-ISIS workers were killed in the strikes, as plumes of smoke were seems rising from the targeted facilities, according to local sources.

The U.S.-led coalition has also bombed ISIS headquarters in the Sinaa district of Deir ez-Zor and two checkpoints held by the militants near the southern entrance of the city. At least 12 ISIS jihadis were reported dead in the bombardments.

Syrian army kills 100+ ISIS troops in Deir ez-Zor

[ARA News] DEIR EZZOR – More than 100 militant fighters from the Islamic State (ISIS) were killed in renewed attacks by Syrian army forces in the eastern province of Deir ez-Zor, official reported on Monday.

The Syrian regime’s army troops hit ISIS headquarters with heavy artillery shelling in the districts of Sheikh Yassin, Hamidiyah, Ardeyh and Rashidi in Deir ez-Zor.

This coincided with several airstrikes by the Syrian air force on the ISIS fighting positions in the Mareyiah village in Deir ez-Zor’s suburb.

“At least 80 Daesh terrorists were killed in the city of Deir ez-Zor under heavy shelling by the Syrian army. More than 20 others were killed under Syrian airstrikes in the village of Mareiyah in the eastern suburb of Deir ez-Zor,” the army said in a statement, using an acronym for ISIS.

Speaking to ARA News, a spokesman for the campaign “Deir ez-Zor Is Being Slaughtered Silently” said that the dead militants included a top commander of ISIS known as Abu Islam al-Baghdadi, who was killed along with dozens of jihadis in the Hamidiyah bombardment.

“Several other prominent members of ISIS were killed in the regime’s operations, including Tamir Haiji, Islam al-Deri, Bassel al-Hamed, Sultan Awwad and Salem Awwad,” the source said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

In the meantime, the ISIS operations chamber in Deir ez-Zor said in a statement that its fighters have bombed Syrian army’s positions with dozens of “hell canons”, adding that dozens of pro-regime troops were killed in the bombardment.

Local sources reported that the clashes between ISIS and the Syrian army forces continued until Monday midnight.

China-Japan-Koreas
UN Expert: Kim Jong Un Could Be Held Accountable for Crimes Against Humanity
[VOA News] A United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
expert on human rights
One man's rights are another man's existential threat.
in North Korea is warning the country's supreme leader, Kim Pudge Jong-un
...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished...
, could be held accountable for alleged crimes against humanity.
Yeah. Him and Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. Send someone to arrest him.
Marzuki Darusman, the U.N. special rapporteur on human rights in North Korea, issued the warning in a report made public Monday.

The U.N. Human Rights Council should advise Kim and other senior North Korean leaders "they may be investigated, and if found to be responsible, held accountable for crimes against humanity committed under their leadership," the report said.

Darusman was the head of a special U.N. investigation into North Korea's human rights abuses, which are considered to be among the worst in the world. The so-called Commission of Inquiry accused the North of committing atrocities not seen since the Nazi era.

The panel also called for North Korean leaders to be prosecuted at the International Criminal Court
... where Milosevich died of old age before being convicted ...
. But that would require action by the U.N. Security Council. China and Russia, which are veto-wielding members of the council, oppose such a move.

The secretive North Korean government is accused of running a massive network of political prisons, as well as carrying out murder, enslavement, torture, imprisonment, rape, forced abortions and other sexual violence.

In his latest report, Darusman said Pyongyang does not appear to have made any improvements on rights issues since the U.N. investigation ended two years ago. The U.N. Human Rights Council will review the report next month.

Co-founder Saul Berenthal said the company's attorney was in Havana on Monday to start the lengthy process of finalizing the agreement with the Cuban government and hopes to start production by early 2017.

Berenthal said he was proud to get the approval, but it means even more for the future relationship between the Cold War foes.

"Being first is great," he said. "But for certain, we should not be the only ones. We're hoping and expecting many more will follow."

They have big 'fests' from time to time and I've always liked going and marveling at what the early designs were and what they could do. Pretty ingenious and durable stuff for mostly 'non-schooled' inventors and manufacturers.

The equipment was simple and worked really well under a variety of conditions. Smelly and noisy - I love it.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Khomeini Grandson Disqualified in Elections
Seyyed Hassan Khomeini lost his appeal of the Guardian Council’s decision to bar him from running for a seat in the Assembly of Experts. A grandson of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, he is widely considered the heir apparent of the late revolutionary leader’s legacy. The young Khomeini’s long-anticipated entrance into politics could have important consequences. The 86-member Assembly of Experts, which will increase its membership to 88 this election, is the only constitutional body with the authority to appoint, supervise and dismiss the supreme leader. The group of clerics has historically served as a rubber stamp organization that has never seriously questioned the actions of Iran’s previous or current supreme leader. But the stakes are higher for the February 2016 election. The next assembly may be faced with the question of what to do should the 76-year-old Ayatollah Ali Khamenei pass away due to illness or old age.

Khomeini would likely have been popular with voters. He has spoken out against extremism and supported the nuclear deal, which was broadly welcomed by the Iranian public. At age 43, Khomeini is significantly younger than the mostly elderly members of the Assembly of Experts. The youth vote is increasingly important in Iran, where more than 60 percent of its 80 million people are under 30 years old. In addition to Khomeini’s revered pedigree, his family is connected to prominent reformists through marriage. His cousin, Zahra Eshraghi is married to former deputy speaker of parliament Reza Khatami, brother of former President Mohammad Khatami (1997-2005). Khomeini also has the support of Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, a former president who chairs the Expediency Council. In August 2015, Rafsanjani said it was Khomeini’s turn to come forward to “protect the revolution.”

Khomeini kept a relatively low profile until 2002, when a university professor was sentenced to death for insulting Islam. Professor Hashem Aghajari argued that each generation should be able to interpret Islam on its own. Khomeini reportedly protested the sentence with about 1,000 students in November 2002. Khomeini has spoken out against military interference in politics. He also criticized the disqualification of nearly 2,000 candidates from running for parliament in 2008. Most of them were reformists. Khomeini’s comments prompted a harsh reaction from conservatives, who accused him of corruption.

Khomeini reportedly supported reformist presidential candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi in 2009. Khomeini reportedly went on a trip outside Iran before Ahmadinejad’s August 2009 inauguration ceremony. Conservative publications criticized Khomeini’s move and interpreted his absence as opposition to the election results. Khomeini also met with political prisoners Alireza Beheshti and Mohammadreza Jalaeipour shortly after their release in 2009, which also suggested sympathies with the reformist camp.

In June 2010, Khomeini spoke at a ceremony marking his grandfather’s death. But his speech was cut short by hardliners chanting “Death to Mousavi!” and shouting slogans in support of Iran’s current supreme leader. The incident may have been the first time a Khomeini family member had been insulted in a public venue.

Iraq
Nearly 5,700 Buildings in Ramadi Damaged, U.N. Report
Since mid-2014, around 5,700 constructions in the western Iraqi city of Ramadi and its outskirts have suffered some level of damage, and almost 2,000 buildings have turned to ruins, the United Nations reported on Monday, citing satellite images.

Ramadi, once home to about 500,000 people, now largely lies in ruins, the report assessing the devastation revealed.

Iraq declared as government forces regained full control of Ramadi after pushing ISIS group fighters out of the city’s outskirts in December, seizing the main government building in the city, the provincial capital of Anbar. But more than six months of fighting shattered most infrastructure and levelled many homes in the city.

The impact of ISIS bomb attacks and U.S.-led coalition air strikes has been documented by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research, which compared satellite imagery collected last month with images from July 2014.

The analysis showed more than 3,200 structures in the city centre have been affected, with 1,165 destroyed. Those figures nearly double when outlying areas are included.

It is not clear what percentage of Ramadi has been affected, but the imagery shows that all central districts and almost every block have incurred at least some damage.

Also, local estimates said that more than 60 percent of Anbar’s provincial capital had been destroyed by constant air bombardment and the scorched-earth practices of ISIS fighters in retreat.
A U.N. statement described the analysis as preliminary and said it had not been validated in the field. Baghdad has not yet declared the city safe for return; given that Iraqi Special Forces clashed with militants in some districts as recently as last week.
“The level of destruction in Ramadi is as bad as anything we have seen in Iraq,” said Lise Grande, the U.N.’s deputy special representative to Iraq after last week’s preliminary assessment of the damage. Iraqi and coalition officials estimated that rebuilding Ramadi could cost hundreds of millions of dollars.

The cash-strapped government in Baghdad is seeking support from international donors to help rebuild Ramadi, the largest city retaken from ISIS. But it must first clear explosives planted by the militants in streets and buildings – an effort which also requires funding that Iraq lacks.

The United Nations is working with local authorities on plans to rebuild health, water and energy infrastructure. Meanwhile, displaced residents are waiting in camps or rented accommodations in other parts of the country.

Securing the city is expected to take months before reconstruction can begin.

Trump walks back attack on George Bush
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] Donald Trump sought Sunday to walk back his statements during Saturday night's Republican debate that former President George W. Bush bore responsibility for the Sept. 11 terror attack.

"I am not blaming him," Trump said on CBS' "Face the Nation" Sunday.

Trump continued to imply Bush erred, however. "The CIA said there was a lot of information that something like that was going to happen," he said. The attacks killed just under 3,000 Americans.

During Saturday night's debate, Trump told former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush: "The World Trade Center came down during your brother's reign, remember that."

#2  How did that kinder gentler war work out George?

George is a decent human being. Probably not the type to wage a Jacksonian War. A lot of Americans are tired of expending resources and lives only to see it squandered away by the oligarchy (aka ruling class). They get upset looking back and see the times when you had the opportunity to go full bore and all that investment that was made only to be left a crap sandwich. Then words fail them to express themselves in a manner that something lacks sense to others.

#4  IIRC, and correct me if I'm wrong, it was political correctness that kept security personnel at Logan Airport from detaining and interrogating the 9/11 terrorists. Those guys were obviously jacked up about something, all of them with one way tickets and jabbering in Arabic. Hinky to say the least. We don't need people like that in our country now and we didn't need them then. If the CIA didn't tell W to look for that profile they weren't doing their jobs and he wasn't either.

#8  "I am not blaming him", Trump said...

Really? You gotta be fuckin' kidding me. That's exactly what he meant. Yet all the Trump rubes either give him a pass or, more likely, agree with him. His statements regarding 9/11 and President Bush "lied" about Iraqi WMD confirm a couple of things. First, Trump not only makes foolish comments on occassion but he himself to some degree is a fool. Second, most of his supporters are comprised of simpletons and hanger-on types.

#12  "Now, who had the most to gain from Kennedy's death?"

#13  I wanted to believe in the Iraq war. Back then I did believe in it. It's easy to criticize in hindsight. But we gained nothing from that war. Even if Iraq hadn't fallen apart, we won nothing. And by now we've all seen enough to know that when you depose bad guys like Saddam you create a vacuum that gets filled by the likes of ISIS. How many more wars do we have to fight over there and what will it cost? Why can't we just leave them to figure it out for themselves?

And then put Iraq aside. What about illegal immigration and the mortgage meltdown? What about all of our jobs going to China and Mexico? It's the same thing whether we have Clinton or Bush. They're like two sides of the same bad penny that keeps coming back to us. No more Roosevelts. No more Clintons. No more Bushes. So who is left? Carson or Cruz? Kasich? Rubio? Sanders?

Trump started right out saying build a wall and keep Muslims out of here. He says we lose in our trade deals with China and Mexico. Call me racist and foolish all you want but tell me why nobody else will even talk about the biggest problems we have.

#14  And then put Iraq aside.

EU6305, I don't want this to be a pissing match so let me just say you proved my point. You wrote a paragraph about the execution and outcome of the Iraq war - BTW most of which I agree with. And then completly dismissed Trumps recent comments. Only to champion his positions on other issues. Maybe you agree with Trump that Bush is to blame for 9/11. Perhaps you also agree he knowingly lied about the existence of WMD. Maybe you have no opinion on either? Just know there's alot of people, including myself, who will never vote for someone who uses the same talking points as Code Pink.

#15  It is hard to judge Iraq when all the gains were thrown away by a pull-out (despite pleas from experts) because Obama had made a campaign promise and felt all was stable.

One thing we did learn is that Islam is not compatible with democracy*. Knowing that leaves me feeling guilt-free when it comes to refugees and all the other things going on in the Middle East. They had a chance, we paid for that chance in blood, but the Muslims would rather kill.

* Which makes me wonder why the US destabilized and attempted to push democracy in Egypt, Libya and Syria.

#18  DepotGuy, like I said, I believed it at the time. I wanted to believe George Bush. And in my ignorance, I wanted to believe that democracy might work in Iraq. I think we all know better now. I don't know about the weapons. Sharon said they went to Syria and he was probably as credible as anybody. But the fact is they were never found and all the blood and treasure we lost in the nation building effort was wasted. We can only speculate what that part of the world would be like now if we had stayed out of it but it sure is a mess now. And you can blame Obama if you want. There is a certain validity to that. But Bush left our country in a shambles in 2008 and that paved the way for Obama's election. There were people who knew the situation created by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac was dangerous. IMHO that was a far greater danger to us than Saddam ever was.

As for 9/11 I think Bush was sucked in by the same political correctness that still suckers a lot of people today. Those guys should have never been let into the country and Trump is the only one who says he would keep them out of here now. Trump is not beholden to the House of Saud.

As many as 30 Ukrainians were killed in a fratricide incident last week in western Donetsk, according to an official report by the Donetsk ministry of defense.

According to the report, the incident took place in Markinka near western Donetsk city last Tuesday night, February 9th, when volunteers associated with an unidentified Right Sector volunteer military unit tried to goad a Ukrainian army unit into firing onto rebel held territory.

According to the report, radio messages which had been monitored by separatists commanders, indicated that a proposed attack was made that elements of the Ukrainian 95th Airmobile Brigade refused to support.

Right Sector volunteers then placed themselves between rebel positions and positions of the Ukrainian unit and began firing on the Ukrainian unit. The Ukrainian military unit returned fire.

According to the report, rebel intelligence officers also had received reports of dead and wounded from the incident being transferred to Ukrainian military hospitals in western Donetsk.

The report goes on to note that some skirmishes have taken place between Ukrainian military and "radical nationalists", but the report did not elaborate.

The Marinka incident is not the only time Russian backed separatists have claimed they monitored a fratricide incident. Last year, separatists said that a private military unit entered into the area of operation of another unidentified Right Sektor volunteer unit and destroyed the unit using suppress small arms. Communications and GPS data were said to have been monitored in real time as the unit assassinated members of the volunteer unit.

In that incident, separatists claimed that a total of 30 elements had been killed.

Fighting in western Doentsk

Ukrainian military officials said Monday their forces were fired on 71 times by rebel forces in several locations, according to a news account which appeared in korrespondent.net

Mortar fire was recorded in Peski, Talakovke, Malyorsk and Zaitsev, while small arms fire and RPG fire were recorded in Novotroitsk, Marinka, Avdeevka, Novgorod, Opytnoye, and Peski, all of which are locations west of Donetsk city.

Small arms and RPG fire were noted near Mariupol and Shirokino, both of which are in southern Donetsk.

A separate korrespondent.net report said small arms and mortar fired were recorded in Marinka and Krasnogorovka on Sunday. The report also noted rebel forces were moving heavy equipment into the area, but that report did not elaborate.

Yet another korrespondent.net report said that a total of one dead and seven wounded Ukrainian soldiers were reported in separatist mortar attacks on Saturday.

The report said that rebel mortar and small arms fire struck Ukrainian positions at Marinka, Krasnogorovka and Maryinsky. Gunfire was also report near the Donetsk airport, Opytnoye, Avdeevka and Pemok.

Separatist defense officials say the Ukrainian military fired on their positions more than 200 times using banned weapons, such as 82mm and 120mm mortar fire and tank gunfire. The incidents occurred in Gorlovka, Staromykhailivka , Zhabichevo, near the Donetsk airport and western and northern suburbs of Donetsk city.

Southern Donetsk areas said to have come under Ukrainian fire include Dokuchaevsk and Kominternovo.

Instead of leaving the pilot to cope with the emergency himself, the US Air Force KC-135 Stratotanker crew managed to escort him back to its base while refueling every 15 minutes to keep the jet in the air.

US Air Force commander Lt. Col. Eric Hallberg said: "Over 80% of his total fuel capability was trapped and unusable.

A source at the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) confirmed that laboratory tests had come back positive for the sulfur mustard, after around 35 Kurdish troops were sickened on the battlefield last August.

The OPCW will not identify who used the chemical agent. But the diplomat, speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
because the findings have not yet been released, said the result confirmed that chemical weapons had been used by Islamic State fighters.

The samples were taken after the soldiers became ill during fighting against Islamic State snuffies southwest of Erbil, capital of Iraq's autonomous Kurdish region.

The OPCW already concluded in October that mustard gas was used last year in neighboring Syria. Islamic State has declared a "caliphate" in territory it controls in both Iraq and Syria and does not recognize the frontier.

The matter is expected to be raised at the next meeting of the OPCW's 41-member Executive Council in a month, an official said.

If Islamic State used chemical weapons, experts are still uncertain of how the group might have obtained them, or whether it could have access to more.

Another diplomat, speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
, said Syria's stockpile was a possible source of the sulfur mustard used in Iraq. That would mean Damascus had failed to fully disclose its chemical weapons program, which was dismantled under international supervision in 2013-2014, the diplomat said.

"If Syria has indeed given up its chemical weapons to the international community, it is only the part that has been declared to the OPCW and the declaration was obviously incomplete," the diplomat told Rooters.
About how ISIS obtained their chemical weapons, Ynet reports:
The Islamic State group has already used chemical weapons "numerous times," and is planning to carry out a chemical attack against the United States, according to American intelligence, presented by US National Intelligence director James Clapper at a panel of intelligence heads at the Munich Security Conference this weekend.

Clapper said ISIS was manufacturing chemical weapons on an industrial scale, and noted the CIA has evidence of the use of chemical weapons for the first time by a terrorist group since the 1995 Sarin gas attacks on the Tokyo subway.

While Clapper didn't state the nature and the origin of the information he based his findings on, it is likely based on, among other things, samples collected by operatives of the German BND in the Kurdish region in northern Iraq back in October, which indicated the area had been bombarded with mustard gas.

#1  See also WASHINGTON EXAMINER > US CIA DIRECTOR [John Brennan]: ISLAMIC STATE IS ON THE PATH TO [self-manufacture/production of] CHEMICAL WEAPONS.

Right now the IS can only make select ChemWar in small or very limited quantities, but that is likely to change for the worse over time.
