At least 10 people were killed when an explosion ripped through the Turkish town of Suruc near the Syrian border on Monday, broadcaster NTV said, and a security official said at least 20 more people were wounded.

The Turkish security official, who declined to be identified, said that around 20 to 25 people were wounded in the blast.

The Day Israel Died
On a warm September day in 2015, the United States Senate failed to override Obama's veto of the measure rejecting his Iranian nuclear agreement. Every one of the 54 Republicans voted against the agreement, which would deliver to the mullahs $150 billion, lift the conventional weapons embargo, and validate Iran's nuclear program in exchange for vague promises not to go nuclear for 10 years. Twelve Democrats, coincidentally the Democrats holding the 12 toughest seats, were allowed to vote against the bill. Because Congress had surrendered its treaty power, 67 votes were required to stop the agreement instead of the 67 required to enact a treaty under the increasingly irrelevant Constitution.

The promised money flowed into Iran and, as predicted, the money flowed out again to America's enemies – Hezbollah, the Syrian regime, the Houthis, and even the Taliban. Their services included a massive surge in advanced IED attacks on the dwindling U.S. forces in Afghanistan. Dozens of Americans died, hundreds were maimed.

The Iranians, from the beginning, cheated on a massive scale, and Benjamin Netanyahu's government immediately redoubled its efforts to ensure the Iranians could not cross the line from aspiring to actual nuclear power. Israeli cyber warriors worked to slow the program remotely, but the NSA – on President Obama's orders – assisted the Iranians in hardening their computer systems pursuant to the nuclear deal's notorious "sabotage" provisions.

Public Enemy? At Home in Mexico, '€˜El Chapo' Is Folk Hero No. 1
[NYT] CULIACÁN, Mexico -- When Jose Antonio Sevilla and his three brothers learned that the notorious drug trafficker known as El Chapo had escaped from prison, they jumped out of their chairs and shouted with glee.

"El Chapo got out! He's the greatest of them all," said Mr. Sevilla, 19, a self-professed fan of the drug kingpin, whose full name is Joaquín Guzmán Loera. "He was famous before, but now he's even more famous."

Mr. Sevilla, an auto mechanic, was so excited that he attended a march through the streets of Culiacán, the capital of Mr. Guzmán's home state, this week to celebrate. He carried a sign that a woman gave him, which read, "El Chapo is more of a president than Peña Nieto," a reference to Mexico's president, Enrique Peña Nieto.

Here in Sinaloa State, where Mr. Guzmán was born, and even in other parts of Mexico, the drug trafficker's stunning escape through a hidden tunnel under what was supposed to be the country's most secure prison has enhanced his status as an outlaw folk hero.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
New Strain Of Seaweed Tastes Like Bacon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seaweed is widely considered to be a health food. Bacon, on the other hand ... well, bacon isn't. There may yet be hope for pork belly lovers around the world, however. Scientists at Oregon State University (OSU) have patented a lab-bred strain of dulce seaweed, that they claim has "a strong bacon flavor" when fried.
How about smell, morons?
Regular varieties of dulce have been eaten by people for many years, mainly as a food additive or nutritional supplement.
And where were their tastbuds, exactly?
The new form (Palmaria mollis) was developed by a team led by OSU's Prof. Chris Langdon, who has been growing it in tanks of cold seawater at the university over the past 15 years. Not only does it apparently taste like bacon, but its translucent crinkly red leaves even look a bit like it, too.
When the science is finally understood, this will probably not be a coincidence.
Langdon's original goal was to develop a seaweed that could be used as a "super-food" to feed farmed abalone. The resulting dulce strain grows faster than its wild counterpart, and is said to be very high in minerals, vitamins and antioxidants, containing up to 16 percent protein by dry weight. Abalone did well on a diet of it, growing at rates "that exceeded those previously reported in the literature."
So it's good for fast food?
The idea of exploring its use as human fodder came about when Chuck Toombs from OSU's College of Business was looking for business projects for his students, since the new dulce strain can be farmed. "Culinary research chef" Jason Ball got involved at that point and after some experimentation, the seaweed's unique bacon-like taste was discovered.
Followed by exhultation from every Jew and liberal handwringing worldwide.
Langdon is currently able to grow 20-30 lb (9-14 kg) of dulce per week in his two tanks, but is planning on upping that amount to 100 lb (45 kg). Toomb's students, meanwhile, are preparing a marketing plan for the seaweed, and examining its commercial feasibility as a large-scale aquaculture crop.
Try not to screw this one up or we'll give it to the kindergarteners to come up with a better marketing plan.

Congress to examine FBI handling of Tennessee shooter

Defense Secretary Ash Carter on Friday approved immediate steps to beef up protection of military sites. The Marine Corps closed all recruiting stations within 40 miles of the incident in Chattanooga, and told recruiters not to wear military uniforms, said Pentagon spokesman Mark Wright.

S.F. deputies union ties pier killing of Kathryn Steinle to sheriff's order
[SF Gate] The union representing San Francisco sheriff's deputies filed a formal complaint against Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi, linking the Pier 14 killing of Kathryn Steinle to a March order that barred them from communicating with federal immigration agents, according to documents obtained by The Chronicle.

The murder arrest of a man whom deputies had freed from jail despite a felony record and a history of deportations showed that Mirkarimi's policy "recklessly compromises the safety of sworn personnel, citizens, and those who merely come to visit the San Francisco area," the deputies wrote in the grievance.

The San Francisco Deputy Sheriffs' Association called for Mirkarimi to correct his "flawed philosophy" and rescind the March 13 memo prohibiting his staff from giving immigration agents information about detainees -- including their citizenship status, their booking and arrest documents, and their release dates.

Sheriff David Clarke: Everything Obama Touches Turns to Crap
[PJ Media] Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke told Judge Jeanine Pirro on Saturday that everything President Obama touches "turns to crap."

Appearing on Justice with Judge Jeanine to talk about the recent attack on the military recruiting center in Chattanooga, Clarke told Pirro, "One of the things that would help us that the Commander in Chief, President Obama, did not do-- or what he did do-- is he gutted the Department of Defense 1033 program." He said the program, which sent military surplus equipment to local communities, helped law enforcement respond to counterterrorism situations like the one in Chattanooga. "He gutted that."

"Everything that he does just comes up wrong. I've never seen a president like this--that everything he touches tends to turn to crap," he added.

#7  Unless you're dealing with a city of several million, the only 'para'-military force should be directly under the control of the state's National Guard, along with a state established rule of when, where, and how (ROE) that it is employed. Mother-may-I approval required by the state. Even then the municipal units should follow the same ROEs. The Mumbai attack, by you know who, where and for what purpose, means municipals need a shorter response time to implement action.

Al McCray Defends Confederate Flag as Black Member of Veteran Group
[Tampa Tribute] TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Whenever members of the Judah P. Benjamin Camp of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans don their grey wool uniforms for a demonstration or re-enactment, Al McCray is there among his brothers.

He marches in the parades and flies the Confederate flag. He speaks out against the notion that the Confederate battle flag is a symbol of racism and defends "Southern heritage" causes.

Yet McCray is different from the rest of the camp.

While the other members are descendants of soldiers that fought for the south in the Civil War, McCray is an African-American "legionnaire" -- his ancestors were slaves on plantations near his hometown of Manning, South Carolina, just outside of Columbia.

"I understand the true nature of the war, and slavery was not the primary issue," McCray said. "It was an issue of northern aggression and northern imperialism."

#2  The flag is today's Rorschach test. A piece of cloth used by people to project their views of which not one is exclusive. It's all and it's none. One group has its definition of it while other groups have theirs. The real conflict is inherit to the groups, not the piece of cloth. It's all about POWER. There is a quick receding of tolerance and the growing demand of subservience and submission. The Left knows no limits other than power.

#3  When did it become de rigueur in our country to not be able to talk about anything without PC goons (liberals, politiicians, MSM) attempting to shut it down? All the more reason for a guy like Trump to talk and frame the issues and debate. The rest of the crowd running for office has been far too PC for fear of losing some possible votes. Trying to destroy a flag will just drive it underground.

Blacks fought for the Confederacy? Now there's a narrative the left does not want to be a part of history.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Moniz Says 24-Day Delay for Iran Inspections is OK
[Breitbart] Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz once promised "anywhere, anytime" access to Iran's nuclear sites, known and unknown. In the end, he and the rest of the crack Obama administration negotiating team gave up on that pledge. Instead, they accepted a limited inspections system that will allow Iran to delay disputed inspections by at least 24 days. On Sunday, Moniz made the rounds of the talk shows, claiming that 24 days would be sufficient to detect whatever traces were left of nuclear activity. That is partially true, but does not actually solve the problem.

There are aspects of the nuclear deal that have non-nuclear components. For example, Iran is supposed to limit its research into advanced centrifuges. Yet a centrifuge is simply a machine that separates lighter and heavier uranium isotopes. It is possible to conduct research on centrifuge technology far beyond what is allowed in the agreement, and without generating new isotopes. A mechanical lab could easily be dismantled and hidden in 24 days.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Inside the secret world of Russia's Cold War map making.
[WIRED] The year was 1989. The Soviet Union was falling apart, and some of its military officers were busy selling off the pieces. By the time Guy arrived at the helipad, most of the goods had already been off-loaded from the chopper and spirited away. The crates he'd come for were all that was left. As he pried the lid off one to inspect the goods, he got a powerful whiff of pine. It was a box inside a box, and the space in between was packed with juniper needles. Guy figured the guys who packed it were used to handling cargo that had to get past drug-sniffing dogs, but it wasn't drugs he was there for.

Inside the crates were maps, thousands of them. In the top right corner of each one, printed in red, was the Russian word секрет‚. Secret.

The maps were part of one of the most ambitious cartographic enterprises ever undertaken. During the Cold War, the Soviet military mapped the entire world, parts of it down to the level of individual buildings. The Soviet maps of US and European cities have details that aren't on domestic maps made around the same time, things like the precise width of roads, the load-bearing capacity of bridges, and the types of factories. They're the kinds of things that would come in handy if you're planning a tank invasion. Or an occupation. Things that would be virtually impossible to find out without eyes on the ground.

Given the technology of the time, the Soviet maps are incredibly accurate. Even today, the US State Department uses them (among other sources) to place international boundary lines on official government maps.
Lengthy, includes a map of Northern, Virginia and the Pentagon in Cyrillic.

#3  Worse, the maps for the masses were deliberately distorted with a special projection that introduced random variations. “The main goal was to crush the contents of maps so it would be impossible to recreate the real geography of a place from the map,” Postnikov tells me. Well-known landmarks like rivers and towns were depicted, but the coordinates, directions, and distances were all off, making them useless for navigation or military planning, should they fall into enemy hands. The cartographer who devised this devious scheme was awarded the State Prize by Stalin.

Sure enough. They did. Devious buggers.

Afghanistan
Taliban parades in northern Helmand
The Afghan Taliban overran an Afghan military base and paraded its troops through the bazaar in Kajaki in northern Helmand province, the jihadist group claimed.

The Taliban made the claim in a video produced by Al Emarah and released on Voice of Jihad, its official propaganda outlet. Images from the video were also compiled by a Taliban-linked Twitter account.

The release, entitled "Azm Operations in Helmand Province, Graveyard of the British Empire," shows a suicide bombing on an Afghan military checkpoint and a mortar attack on the base in the southern Afghan province. In one scene, several US-made Humvees are used by the Taliban. A Humvee and several weapons were taken as "spoils" from the battle.

After taking over the base, the jihadists then claimed to have taken over large portions of Kajaki. The release shows images of fighters parading through the district, including Kajaki's bazaar.

Pelosi Proposes Lowering the Voting Age to 16

#1  Should set the age to match what Pelosi and company established as independent adults having to pay their own way not on their parents plans in Obamacare. What was that, 26?

The argument to lower it from 21 to 18 was because of the draft at the time inducting 18. 19, and 20 year olds for the war. It should have been limited to those individuals rather than the whole population if that was the rationale back then.

Report: Czechs 'Kidnap' Linked to Prague's Arrest of 'Hizbullah Suspect'

Citing "intersecting security reports," MTV said the Lebanese driver who vanished with the Czechs, Saeb Taan, is "a brother of Ali Taan, also known as Ali Fayyad, who was apprehended in the Czech Republic during the recent wave of arrests that targeted Hizbullah security cadres in Europe."

Sunday evening in the northern Bekaa region, according to media reports.

"Army intelligence agents apprehended in the northern Bekaa town of al-Labweh ten individuals suspected on belonging to a terrorist organization," state-run National News Agency reported.

"They were on their way from the outskirts of (the border town of) Arsal to areas inside Leb," NNA said.

"They were referred to the relevant judicial authorities," it added.

LBCI television meanwhile said the ten men are all "Syrians who belong to terrorist groups."

It said they were heading to the North and Western Bekaa.

Al-Jadeed TV said the detainees are members of the Islamic State

It said that 60 family members were allowed to visit on Saturday the 16 captives held on the outskirts of the northeastern border town of Arsal.

The relatives told the daily that the hostages "are in good health and are being treated in the best possible way."

In addition, they revealed that the captors are demanding the release of Saja al-Dulaimi, a divorcee of Islamic State

Another demand, made by Emir of al-Nusra Front in al-Qalamoun, Abou Malek al-Talli, is allowing the safe passage of Syrians in encampments to the Syrian town of Fleita, said the relatives.

The families of the captives accused the Lebanese state of neglecting the case of their loved ones, saying: "Some sides are practicing political spite."

The servicemen were kidnapped from Arsal in August in the wake of festivities with al-Nusra Front and Islamic State gunnies in the area.

A few of the captives have since been released, four were executed, while the rest remain held.

The families told al-Hayat that they are scheduled to meet with General Security chief Abbas Ibrahim on Tuesday to discuss the latest negotiation efforts in the case.

The official had recently visited Qatar

Al Qaeda offers to free Lebanon troops for female prisoners
[DAWN] Al Qaeda's Syrian affiliate has offered to release three Lebanese soldiers in exchange for an ex-wife of the leader of the jihadist Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. group and four other female prisoners.

Al-Nusra Front, which along with IS has held 25 Lebanese soldiers and coppers hostage for almost a year, issued the offer in a statement aired on Leb's MTV television on Saturday night.

"If five of our sisters leave prison... we will hand over three soldiers in exchange," said Abu Malek al-Shami, Al-Nusra's "emir" in the Syrian region of Qalamun bordering Leb.

Among the five hostages he named was Saja al-Dulaimi, who was jugged

in Leb in December and is a former wife of IS leader His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...formerly merely the head of ISIL and a veteran of the Bagram jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us...
, as well as a wife of an Al-Nusra leader.

Dulaimi's background is complicated as she reportedly belongs to a tribe that straddles Syria and Iraq and she was said to have been closer to Al-Nusra than her ex-husband's rival jihadists at the time of her arrest.

Shami's face was not shown in the interview, which MTV conducted as part of an arranged visit by family members to loved ones held by Al-Nusra in what it called "a cave in the Qalamun mountains".

The channel showed footage of the three-hour reunion between parents, spouses and even children of the hostages, many of them unable to hold back their tears.

The hostages, all with long beards, appeared in healthy condition inside a tent.

Sixteen of the 25 Lebanese soldiers and coppers who were taken hostage near the border with Syria in August 2014 are in the hands of Al-Nusra.

The rest are held by Baghdadi's Islamic State group.

Since their capture, Al-Nusra and IS have repeatedly made demands for the soldiers' release, seeking the release of Islamist prisoners or the withdrawal of Leb's Hezbollah movement from the Syrian conflict.

Israel nabs cell behind West Bank terror killing
[IsraelTimes] Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, gang, which includes prisoner released in Shalit deal, bumped off Malachy Rosenfeld in a drive-by shooting last month

Four members of a seven-strong Hamas cell behind a deadly terror attack in the West Bank last month have been detained by Israel, the Shin Bet security service said Sunday. Two others are being held by the Paleostinian Authority.

Malachy Rosenfeld was killed, and three others were maimed, when gunnies opened fire on their car near the West Bank settlement of Shvut Rachel, north of Ramallah, as they returned from a basketball game.

The cell also carried out an attack on an ambulance close to the settlement of Beit El on June 27, in which no one was maimed; they had attempted to carry out a separate attack on June 6.

The four men were detained in a joint operation between the Israel Police and the Israel Defense Forces, according to the Shin Bet. Two other cell members, including its operations leader, are being held by the Paleostinian Preventive Security Services.

The Shin Bet said Sunday that the seventh man, Ahmad Najjar, who orchestrated and funded the shooting attack from Jordan, was among the prisoners released by Israel for captured Israel Defense Forces soldier Gilad Shalit in 2011. He has not been apprehended.

Maath Hammad, who allegedly pulled the trigger, and another suspect are being held by the Paleostinian Authority but questioned by the Shin Bet, the security service said.

Six members of the group are from the town of Silwad northeast of Ramallah. The seventh, who is also the father-in-law of one of the other suspects and not identified as a Hamas member, lives in nearby Kusra, the agency said.

Israeli news site Ynet reported that Najjar was previously imprisoned for several shooting attacks, including one that killed six Israelis during the Second Intifada.

The cell members admitted that they had intended to carry out additional shooting attacks in June.

Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon praised the security forces for apprehending the suspects.

He also accused The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
of hosting a Hamas big turban actively planning attacks.

Attempts to activate Hamas cells in the West Bank originate in "Hamas headquarters in Gazoo and Istanbul, from where Salah Aruri plans severe attacks against us by proxies in the West Bank and in neighboring countries," he said in a statement.

"Salah Aruri is acting from Turkey -- a NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It's headquartered in Belgium. That sez it all....
member, which at the same time allows a terror base on its territory," Ya'alon charged.
Ynet has photos and details about the individual miscreants here.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Cambodian tycoon held over Facebook 'assault'
[Dhaka Tribune] A Cambodian property tycoon accused of assaulting a well-known actress has appeared in court after she posted a video of the attack online. Violence against women is commonplace in Cambodia but public exposure of this attack has sparked outrage.

CCTV footage emerged earlier this month of an assault on the actress Ek Socheata, better known as SaSa, at a restaurant in the capital Phnom Penh.

Sok Bun, 37, returned to Cambodia from Singapore, where he had fled. After his arrest at Phnom Penh's airport, Sok Bun faces charges of violence and intentionally causing injury.

On Thursday, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen called for Sok Bun's arrest.

"Don't think that because you have money you can escape,'' Hun Sen said. "What you have done is intolerable."

The footage shows SaSa being dragged off a chair and on to the floor at a Japanese restaurant. She is then kicked in the head, and when she tries to get up, she is punched and stamped on over the course of a minute.

At one point, a bodyguard draws a gun and points it at her head as the attack continues. It ends when a restaurant worker pulls the attacker away.

SaSa then obtained the video from the restaurant and posted it on her Facebook page. She has since given several interviews on national television and was still visibly badly bruised.

Earlier in the week, Sok Bun pleaded for forgiveness but a social media campaign called for his arrest.

"He pulled my hair and smashed my head against the floor," she told the News Agency that Dare Not be Named (AP) news agency. "I was in shock, I couldn't believe what was happening."

SaSa says she was protecting a friend from the advances of Mr Bun, who was at one point the head of Cambodia's estate agents' association.

Yin Sophy, Sok Bun's lawyer, was quoted in the Phnom Penh Post as saying his client had been keen to return to Cambodia to see the case resolved.

"My client has a real willingness to deal and take responsibility about this case," he said. "So he has come to solve these allegations with court directly."

If found guilty, Sok Bun could face up to five years in prison.

The newspaper reports that the bodyguard has been charged with attempted murder and remains on the lam. SaSa says he pulled the trigger of his gun only for it to fail to discharge.

India-Pakistan
Let's stop calling people 'kaafir' just because they don't believe in our school of thought
[NATION.PK] Pakistain is the land of the pure. Quaid-e-Azam kept his nose to the grindstone to create a state where Moslems could live with peace and prosperity without fear of maltreatment by the Hindu majority. The dream was realized on the 14th of August, 1947 in the Holy month of Ramazan (Oh sorry it's Ramadan! My sincerest apologies). How fitting, right?

Fast forward to 2015. We have achieved a lot since the blessed day we got independence from the "Goras". However,
it's easy to be generous with someone else's money...
the biggest achievement has got to be how we have managed to find the Kuffaar amongst us. It was a tough job to be honest. Impossible, if you ask me, but we did it. After all, we are Paks. We are capable of achieving anything. And achieving this one objective in particular is especially praiseworthy.

Pakistain is the Land of the pure? Nope. Sorry. Not the case. It is infested with infidels. Each and every one of us. People like you. People like me. We are all infidels. A person belonging to a particular sect hates the one belonging to a different one. Branding each other "Kaafir" is a new cool apparently among the religious chauvinists. Facebook pages are chock-full of disgusting content pertaining to different schools of thoughts. Search for a particular sect and you will more maligning pages for that particular sect than the ones promoting it. You can find comments oozing with abhorrence. The other sects have pages of their own, vilifying the patrons of the opposing sects. Facebook acts as a platform for the ignorant and the fools to carry out hate crimes.

On the streets, the pattern is the same. Clerics engage in hate speeches which often lead to barbaric acts. Recently, an anti-terrorism court tossed in the calaboose
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
a holy man for 10 years for making hate speech against another sect. This was just one holy man. There are millions of others with the same hidebound mentality. This begs the question, in a place where Moslems are not really safe, what's to become of the minorities?

I fail to comprehend the point in calling someone else, who doesn't follow your school of thought, a kaafir? Where is the tolerance that Islam preaches? Allah says in the Holy Koran "Let there be no compulsion in religion" (2:256). Who are we to judge then? The holier-than-thou attitude must be phased out.

Then again you ask someone this question on the street and their most probable reply would be, "All these problems are being caused by an external force. We Paks don't indulge in such horrendous activities. Oh wait, I know! It's those Zionists at it again!"

China-Japan-Koreas
China: Deported tourists watched terror videos
But was the terrorist being "advocated" Genghis Khan?
[AFP] Chinese police say that foreign tourists arrested and later deported from northern China "admitted" to watching videos advocating terrorism, Xinhua reported yesterday.

Police from Inner Mongolia region said the tourists "first watched a documentary in a hotel room. After some of them left, the rest proceeded to watch video clips advocating terrorism."

They added that police seized "similar" videos from a cellphone "belonging to Hoosain Ismail Jacobs, a South African national."

The report said that nine of the foreigners - five South Africans, three British and one Indian - were suspected of "organizing, leading or joining terrorist groups."

All of the nine "admitted to their illegal acts and repented" before police imposed the "lenient sentence" of deportation, it added.

A total of 20 visitors from South Africa, Britain and India were held at an Inner Mongolian airport on Friday last week, causing diplomatic concern. The group included doctors, executives and a former anti-apartheid activist, who were on a lengthy sight-seeing tour of China. They were arrested thirty days into their trip, before they were able to board a plane to the city of Xian.

A statement released on Friday by a spokesman for two of the tourists, Mr Hoosain Jacobs and his wife Tahira, said the detentions may have been made after an "unfortunate misunderstanding" concerning Genghis Khan. It said, "They watched a documentary on Genghis Khan to further their understanding of the region they were in at the time, and this may have mistakenly been deemed as 'propaganda' material'.

"It can only be assumed that junior officials who made the initial arrest in Inner Mongolia made a mistake, due to perhaps their unfamiliarity" with English, it added.

#3  But was the terrorist being "advocated" Genghis Khan?

Actually, it was one of the original terrorist group, the cult of the assassins who sent agents to kill Möngke Khan that resulted in the expedition that laid waste to their domain, Persia, and Baghdad. Not a 'kinder gentler' campaign, but the terrorism ended, mainly because the Mongols could out do anyone else on 'terror'.

People were celebrating the end of the Moslem fasting month of Ramadan when the explosive-laden vehicle went off, marking one of the single deadliest acts of terror the notorious group has claimed.

The blast brought down several buildings in the city.

By Saturday, the corpse count had risen to 120, according to Muthana al Tamimi, governor of Diyala province. But with 140 more maimed in the blast, the number may go up.

The suicide boom-mobileer was carrying around three tons of explosives in a truck, offering a discount for sale of ice as a trap to lure more people.

Confederate flag demand has Alabama company 'absolutely swamped'
[AL] When the controversy over the Confederate flag erupted last month, the owner of a Huntsville flag company said her business would make the flags even if no one else would. And that's apparently what's happened.
When the leftists try to delete an entire page in the country's history they may be resisted. Regardless of whether you identify with the blue or the gray, it still happened and the populace took it seriously enough to die for their beliefs. The tragedy of the war has always been the fact that there were admirable men on both sides, along with the bad guys and the nonentities. History didn't start with Selma. It didn't begin with WWII, regardless of what's usually playing on the History Channel.
"I'm not aware of another company in the United States making these flags," said Belinda Kennedy, owner of Alabama Flag & Banner, in an interview Thursday with AL.com.
The flags aren't illegal -- yet.
So now you know why the website for the Governors Drive business near downtown Huntsville cautions visitors that all Confederate flag orders will take two to three weeks to be filled.
It doesn't have anything to do with race. It has to do with not being told what to do. That's not government's place. The government's place is to build roads, regulate interstate commerce, and provide for national defense.
"We are getting absolutely swamped," Kennedy said. "It's let up a little but what we're finding is that people are still wanting the really pretty sewn, the ones that are more like a piece of art with the sewn stripes and the applique stars. Those are really labor intensive and it takes a long time. We're still being flooded with orders for those. We're getting tons of overseas orders. We're going as fast as we can."
My wife and I took one of our granddaughters to a movie this afternoon. Before the movie started we were subjected to three anti-smoking commercials. I had a sudden vision of We the People storming the capital, flying Confederate flags and smoking cigarettes. By the way, Antman: The Motion Picture stinks.

Pakistan shot down made in China drone: Chinese Media
[NATION.PK] In an embarrassing disclosure for Pakistain, Chinese official media today reported that the "spy" drone Mighty Pak Army shot down along the LoC, claiming it belonged to Indian security forces, was made in China.

The drone was "recognised in Beijing as the Chinese made DJI phantom 3," the ruling Communist Party of China (CPC)-run People's Daily said in a report on its website.

Quoting Shanghai-based Observer website, the report said that the Phantom 3 advanced drone represents the most intelligent, most powerful, and most accessible drone to date.

Observer says the drone sells for USD 1,200 each. DJI is a Chinese technology company founded in 2006 by Frank Wang and headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong.

The firm manufactures commercial and recreational unmanned aerial vehicles for aerial photography and videography, it said.

The People's Daily report confirming the Chinese identity of the drone may put Pakistain military in a spot considering the close and strategic ties between Islamabad and Beijing.

The Indian Army and the Indian Air Force (IAF) had already denied the allegations.
No, no! Certainly not!
Questioning the Pak allegations, foreign secretary S Jaishankar had said the "photograph of the drone in question indicates that it's not of Indian design, nor of any UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) category held in the inventory of the Indian armed forces.

"It appears to be of Chinese design, and is commercially available off-the-shelf."

India's rebuttal came as tension escalated along the LoC, following firing and mortar shelling by Pak forces. Indian forces have responded to the Pak action.

YPG: ISIS gangs entirely encircled in Heseke
[BESTANEWS] YPG Press Office has reported that constant military operations conducted by joined forces of the People's Defense Units (YPG) and the Women's Defense Units (YPJ) continue to confront the ISIS gang group attempting occupation efforts near the city of Hesekê, Rojava.

Conducting operational forces in the east of Hesekê, the Defense Units last night advanced from Aziziyah neighborhood to the south of the city and from the Mt. Kezwan to the east, and reached each other -- in a substantial method to complete a sieging perimeter on Hesekê. In this way, all ISIS supply routes from rural districts to localities of Nashwa, Khweran and Panorama were cut off.

In west Hesekê, YPG/YPJ units last night progressed toward the Nashwa distric where sporadic festivities occurred between YPG/YPJ troops and ISIS gangs near the village of Um Hijra.

To rescue their beleaguered forces from the siege, ISIS gangs tried to carry out attacks from the town Hawl, eastern Hasakah, and the village of Malabiyah to the south of Hesekê. After an effective response, the two attempts were defeated; while there was no immediate word on ISIS attackers' possible dead or maimed.

The statement further reported that leading unceasing military campaigns, the Defense Units continue to attack ISIS gangs in far eastern/southern countryside of Kobanê.

In south Kobanê, security forces were informed last night that two suspected ISIS fighters have attempted to infiltrate in areas under YPG/YPJ Units' initiative. To capture these gang forces, YPG/YPJ troops began an operation and eventually killed the two gang operatives after a short time contact.

Delhi police clash with protesters over murder of 19-year-old girl
[ARABNEWS] Police on Sunday fired water canon at demonstrators rallying in the Indian capital against the failure to provide better safety for women after a teen was allegedly stabbed to death.

Dozens of angry protesters, mainly from Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi tried to break through and jump over barricades erected around the police headquarters over the alleged murder of a 19-year-old girl last week.

The victim's family says she was stabbed to death in their central Delhi neighborhood after trying to avoid being harassed by two men late last Thursday. The eleventh grader was stabbed 35 times, according to local media.

The Delhi government has accused the police of abetting the killing by "inaction," saying they had never registered several complaints the victim filed against the perpetrators -- two brothers from the locality -- since 2013.

asking him to take back his decision regarding the hunger strike.
From the looks of him, he could go six or seven months without eating and still wouldn't have his schoolboy figure back, assuming he ever had one.
Earlier, Altaf Hussain on Sunday released a statement in which he announced his decision to go on a hunger strike unto death in protest.

The MQM chief has decided to go on a hunger strike against what he calls 'illegal' detention of his party activists by security forces.

According to the statement given, preparations are being made for the hunger strike, and it will commence once permission is received from the local administration in London.

"I have promised the people that I will die rather than bow my head in front of tyrants," said Hussain on Sunday.

NPA blamed in bomb blast that injures woman
[Inquirer] A 21-year-old woman was injured when an improvised bomb, thought to have been planted by communist militants, went off near a police station in Mabini, Compostela Valley, on Saturday. Witnesses said a motorcycle sped off moments after the blast near the vicinity of the town police station.

Saturday's attack came a day after five Philippine troops were injured in an ambush by New People's Army militants in nearby Pantukan municipality. Captain Alberto Caber said, "(Soldiers and militiamen) from the 101st Division Reconnaissance Company were on security patrol when fired upon by NPA rebels. A 30-minute firefight ensued, wounding a militiaman and four regular soldiers."

Last week, suspected communist hit men gunned down an unarmed Army ranger who was taking his son to school in San Antonio village, also in Mabini.

Chattanooga stirs U.S. Muslims' concerns about radicalization
[Al Ahram] Addressing his congregation on the Eid al-Fitr holiday celebrating the end of Ramadan, Imam Mohammed Abdul-Azeez implored worshipers to combat Moslem extremism in the aftermath of a shooting rampage that killed five servicemen in Tennessee.

The suspect, a young Moslem who grew up in the Chattanooga area, also died in the shootout on Thursday, the last day of Islam's holy month of fasting.

It was the latest reminder to American Moslems of the need to find ways to keep teenagers and young adults from being drawn to ideologies promoted by such groups as Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. , the turbans also known as ISIS who control part of Syria.

"When they talk about Syria, when they talk about Tennessee ... what will they say about the American Moslem community?" Azeez asked the 2,000 congregants at the rented hall in Sacramento, Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, on Friday.

He went on to rail against bully boys, whom he said usurp the spirit of Allah for their own purposes.

The FBI is investigating the Chattanooga shooting as an act of terrorism, though law enforcement officials said it was premature to speculate on the gunman's motive.

Hours before the attack, the suspect, Mohammod Youssuf Abdulazeez, had texted his close friend a link to a long Islamic verse that included the line: "Whosoever shows enmity to a friend of Mine, then I have declared war against him."

Pro-govt forces vie to secure Yemen's Aden
[Al Ahram] Yemeni pro-government forces on Sunday sought to tighten their control of Aden as Iran-backed rebels mounted resistance in some districts, two days after the regime declared the city "liberated".

Backed by air support from Saudi-led warplanes and troops freshly trained in the kingdom, forces loyal to exiled President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi have managed wrest back control of most of the port city.

Two ministers of the exiled government returned to Aden this weekend, shortly after Prime Minister Khaled Bahah heralded its "liberation", four months after the Shia Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
rebels entered the city.

On Sunday, fighters from the pro-Hadi Popular Resistance advanced towards the rebel-held district of Al-Tawahi, a military source said.

The neighbourhood is home to Aden's presidential residence, where Hadi had taken refuge when he escaped house arrest under the rebels in Sanaa in February, before being forced to flee for Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
Swathes of the southern city have been reduced to rubble by the four months of ferocious fighting.

Warplanes from a Saudi-led Arab coalition have kept up the air campaign launched in March in support of Hadi and against the Huthis and renegade troops loyal to former president President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh
... Saleh initially took power as a strongman of North Yemen in 1977, when disco was in flower, but he didn't invite Donna Summer to the inauguration and Blondie couldn't make it...
Around 15 air strikes targeted rebel positions in Al-Tawahi and on the northern outskirts of the city where rebels had brought reinforcements, military sources and witnesses said.

Fighting also went on in the district of Crater where some rebels remain holed up, according to pro-Hadi fighters.

Nine rebels were killed in a raid on Khormaksar neighbourhood, witnesses said.

The interior and transportation ministers headed a delegation of the exiled government that landed in Aden on Friday night. They took part in a meeting on Saturday aimed at securing the city.

The government-run news agency said the meeting looked into reopening the airport and the port to allow the flow of much-needed aid, as well as the restoration of electricity and water.

Loyalist forces had secured Aden airport shortly after they launched an assault on Tuesday against the rebels dubbed "Operation Golden Arrow".

Some displaced residents of Aden returned to assess the damage to their houses and neighbourhoods.

"There is no life! No hospitals, no electricity, nor water. If it was not for the two wells of the neighbourhood, people would have died of thirst," said Crater resident Moatez al-Mayssuri.

A rebel front man dismissed the government's claims on Saturday that it had seized control of Aden as "psychological warfare and an attempt to improve the crushed morale" of loyalist fighters.

On Sunday, a front man of the Huthis' Ansarullah movement said the rebels had "regained the lead and repelled several attacks by the mercenaries".

forces overnight, residents and officials said, building on a week of gains against the country's dominant faction.

The advances come a day after Yemen's government in exile declared the key southern city of Aden "liberated," in their biggest victory yet in a Saudi-led air campaign and civil war that has raged almost four months and killed more than 3,500 people.

Saudi-backed Yemeni forces backed up by air strikes seized the Labuza army base in restive Lahj

province north of the port city and the headquarters of the 117th armored division in eastern Shabwa province some 230km (145 miles) away.

Officials in the anti-Houthi forces say the offensive was planned for weeks and benefited from training and arms deliveries from Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. and the United Arab Emirates.

The war in Yemen has pitted the Sunni Moslem Gulf states, which support the exiled government, against the Shi'ite Houthis allied to Iran, in a conflict that has further raised the stakes as the Middles East grapples with regional rivalries and sectarian strife.

But power struggles have simmered for years in the impoverished and conflict-wracked country, and fighters in Yemen's south -- the setting for most of the recent battles -- have long sought independence from the North, the Houthis' home.

AU troops in new offensive against Shebab

...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
troops said Sunday they had launched a new offensive against Al-Qaeda-affiliated Shabaab rebels in southern Somalia, vowing to flush the bully boyz out of rural areas.

The African Union Mission in Somalia, or AMISOM, said "Operation Jubba Corridor" was launched on Friday in the Bay and Gedo regions south of the capital Mogadishu along with Somali government troops.

Officials and witnesses confirmed heavy fighting was raging near the Shabaab strongholds of Dinsor and Bardhere, and said the bandidos bully boyz hit back with a suicide car kaboom against a convoy of Æthiopian troops, who are leading the offensive.

"The operation will ensure that all the remaining areas in Somalia will be liberated and peace restored," AMISOM said in a statement.

A Somali military official in the region, Mohammed Osman, confirmed heavy fighting between AMISOM and Somali troops on one side and the Shabaab on the other.

"There are heavy festivities going on between our forces and Al-Shabaab
... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
militia along the road that leads to Dinsor. The bandidos bully boyz ambushed a military convoy," he said.

Witnesses who live close to the battleground said a suicide kaboomer struck the convoy with a boom-mobile loaded with explosives. There were no immediate reports on casualties.

The offensive was launched days after Kenyan government reports that a US drone strike in the region killed at least 30 Shabaab rebels, among them several commanders.

It also comes several weeks after last month's Shabaab assault on a AMISOM base which left dozens of Burundian soldiers dead in one of the single deadliest incidents since AMISOM soldiers arrived in Somalia eight years ago.

Anti-Islam protests continue in Australia
[AA.TR] Rolling rallies by Reclaim Australia group continue across country, with anti-racism protesters confronting the right wing Islamophobes.

#1  nothing annoys me more. The protesters are not *right wing*. They are *nationalist* - a completely different thing.

Right wing = capitalist, free market fan, protects the individuals right to private property against the state

left wing = socialist, big government fan, promotes the idea that the state should confiscate the private property of individuals through taxation for redistribution

Reclaim Australia has no economic outlook, it is neither right nor left wing.

They are flag=draped nationalists, which for some bizarre reason ignoramus 18 year old know-nothing reporters describe as *right wing*.

Perhaps they confuse the flag draped nationalism with nazi nationalism - which was left wing I might add. The Nazis were socialists. Left wing, racist socialists.

That is also why Reclaim Australia get called racist even though there are black white and asian members of that group. They are actually against the rise of Islamofascism but just express themselves really badly like the rank amateurs they are. They drape themselves in the Aussie flag because they dont really know how to express what they really want - the protection of secular law against the Islamofascist political push. That is complicated. They dont form that thought they just know they hate sharia and halal certification. So they get an aussie flag and wear it like a superman cape and get called nazis.

#3  Anon1 the confusion is natural because the left tends to hate their country (whichever that country is). So different groups that love their country (right wing or nationalist or whatever) are easily mixed up.

Deviants 'are only aiding Islam foes'
[ARABNEWS] The Council of Senior Scholars
The Learned Elders of Islam...
praised the Saudi security forces for dismantling a cluster of terror cells linked to Daesh in the Kingdom and said that those linked to terrorism have drifted away from Islamic values.

The council condemned terrorism, saying the actions by deviant groups are only serving the agendas of the enemies of Islam and Muslims, local media reported.

It emphasized that all citizens, including students, preachers, teachers and media persons are responsible for uncovering such deviant and evil designs emitting from these terrorist groups.

The council also noted that families have a major role to play in keeping their children away from such evil ideas and thoughts.

Meanwhile, a man who threatened to kill Saudi satirist Nasser Al-Qasabi last month is among the 144 Daesh-linked suspects detained, Al Arabiya News Channel reported.

Al-Qasabi’s sketch comedy show “Selfie” earned him death threats from Daesh after mocking the extremists. In one scene, a group of warriors at a “girl market” pick concubines from a line of chained women abducted from the battlefield.

In a response from a supporter of the militants, a Twitter user named Jalabeeb Al-Jizrawi wrote to Al-Qasabi: “I swear to God you will regret what you did, you apostate.”

“The holy warriors will not rest until they cut your head from your body, in just a few days hopefully,” he wrote in a post that was retweeted over 3,000 times.

It is now believed “Jalabeeb Al-Jizrawi” has been arrested as part of a crackdown.

“God is my protector. I’m an artist, and the artist’s essential role is to reveal society’s challenges even if he pays a price,” Al-Qasabi had said following the threat. “Warning the people about Daesh is the true jihad, because we’re fighting them with art not war,” he added.

killed 43 people and injured 173 on Sunday, the Health Ministry said two days after the city was declared liberated.

More than 100 were maimed when the Dar Saad neighborhood in the north of the port city was targeted, local health chief Al-Khader Laswar said.

Clashes continued in the city's northern districts as local fighters backed by the Riyadh-based government and a Saudi-led Arab coalition pushed to seize remaining parts of Aden. Those fighters and Yemeni army forces loyal to President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi seized Aden's airport and other central areas in an assault dubbed "Operation Golden Arrow." Their advance was aided by Gulf efforts to train and equip Yemeni army forces loyal to Hadi and transport them to Aden.

The interior and transportation ministers took part in a meeting aimed at securing the city. The meeting looked into reopening the airport and the port to allow the flow of much-needed aid, as well as the restoration of electricity and water services.

"There is no life! No hospitals, no electricity, no water. If it was not for the two wells of the neighborhood, people would have died of thirst," said Crater resident Moatez Al-Mayssuri.

7 Egyptian Soldiers Killed in Fighting With ISIS in Sinai
[al-Alam] Egypt's military front man says the corpse count from the Sinai Peninsula a day earlier has climbed to seven soldiers after a series of ISIS claimed attacks.

The statement from Brig. Gen. Mohammed Samir on Sunday said the military killed 59 bully boyz during the day's operations, which involved air cover.

The front man initially said that a shell struck a single checkpoint Saturday, killing three soldiers and wounding four. Security officials, speaking on condition of anonymity

because they were not authorized to speak to journalists, said bully boyz attacked two checkpoints.

In its daily radio broadcast, the ISIS group said its fighters attacked multiple checkpoints and military installations Saturday in North Sinai, naming at least two checkpoints and saying festivities took place near a local airport.

Cameroon still living in dark despite huge energy potential
[AA.TR] Despite having an estimated potential of 20 gigawatts of hydroelectric power, the second largest in Central Africa, half the population of Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...
does not have access to electricity throughout the day.

Electricity cuts "have become very common in Cameroon, (living in) darkness is what Cameroonians have in common," Carlos Alain Tetchang, a 19-year-old university student living in Douala, Cameroon's economic capital, told Anadolu Agency.

He recounted how he suffered to pass his high school exams: "Every evening, I had the same fear -- that the electricity will cut again. Every day I had to buy three candles in order to study."

Tetchang said he has grown accustomed to electricity cuts. "Cameroon has many dams but cannot use them wisely," he said.

Cameroon's electricity problem has two roots: low production capacity and dams being left unexploited.

Joel Nana Kontchou, CEO of Eneo, said: "The electricity rate is even lower in rural areas."

Eneo is a private Cameroonian energy company, which monopolizes electricity production in the Central African state.

"The annual electricity consumption per capita is about 165 kwh. Meanwhile,
...back at the alley, Bugs Moroni was holding Slats from behind while his brother Greasy Thumb was pounding his face into paste ...
it is 1,650 kwh in southern Africa," he said.

Out of the 22 million people living in Cameroon, only 976,000 are subscribers to Eneo.

"The energy supplied today is not stable and is frequently interrupted," Kontchou said. "The company plans to invest 447 billion CFA Francs ($810.9 million) over the next 10 years into its network."

According to Robert Soh Tangakou, an economist and lecturer at the University of Douala, "the huge hydroelectric potential available to Cameroon can significantly contribute to increasing the country's economic growth."

He believes that to satisfy Cameroon's electricity demand, Eneo must implement a series of measures.

"The state and the company in charge (Eneo) must complete the construction projects of current dams and diversify the production of energy, using solar in particular," Tangakou said.

Evidence found: Daesh fired chemical mortars
[ARABNEWS] Daesh fired chemical weapons against Kurdish forces in Syria and Iraq last month, Kurdish fighters and weapons experts have said.

The Conflict Armament Research (CAR) group and Sahan Research said in a statement Friday that Daesh targeted Iraqi Kurdish peshmerga with a projectile filled with a chemical agent on June 21 or 22.

The organizations also documented two such attacks against Kurdish fighters from the People's Protection Units (YPG) in Syria's northeastern Hasakeh province on June 28.

The YPG said the attacks targeted the Kurdish-held Salhiya district of Hasakeh city and Kurdish positions south of the town of Tel Brak.

"Upon impact, the projectiles released a yellow gas with a strong smell of rotten onions," the YPG said in a statement on Friday.

It added that the ground around the impact sites was stained with a liquid that was green at first but turned yellow on contact with sunlight.

"Our troops exposed to the gas experienced burning of the throat, eyes and nose, combined with severe headaches, muscle pain and impaired concentration and mobility. Prolonged exposure to the chemicals also caused vomiting."

The YPG reported no deaths in the attacks and said that exposed forces subsequently recovered from their symptoms.

They added that YPG fighters had captured industrial-grade gas masks from Daesh forces in recent weeks "confirming that they are prepared and equipped for chemical warfare along this sector of the front."

CAR and Sahan Research, who conducted research in coordination with Kurdish forces, said in a joint statement that seven projectiles were fired in the Hasakeh city attack, and 17 in the attack near Tal Brak.

They said urine samples taken from those affected in the Tal Brak attack tested positive for a compound that is commonly found in agricultural pesticides.

A former senior security officer in the area and a medical source in Mosul confirmed the young journalist's death.

The father of two was born in 1988 and had worked as a cameraman for a local channel before Daesh took over Iraq's second city in June 2014.

He left his city then but, according to a someone who was close to the journalist, he returned to Mosul for personal reasons. He did not elaborate.

Syrian regime raids on Damascus area kill 12
[Al Ahram] Syrian regime air raids on the rebel-held Eastern Ghouta area near the capital on Saturday killed 12 civilians, a monitoring group said.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also reported five people killed in regime barrel bomb raids in the Aleppo region in the north, taking to 82 the civilian corpse count in such attacks in the province this week.

Around the capital, the air force carried out five raids on Arbin in Eastern Ghouta, killing the 12 who included three women and two children, and wounding dozens, the Britannia-based Observatory said.

It also said helicopters dropped 28 barrel bombs in the Zabadani area, the last rebel bastion near the border with Leb.

Two people were killed in four air raids on the town, the Observatory said, adding that three rebels were killed trying to infiltrate the nearby town of Douma.

Syrian government forces backed by fighters from Leb's Shiite Hezbollah militia have been on the attack in the Zabadani area for the past week.

Zabadani, 47 kilometres (29 miles) northwest of Damascus on the road to Beirut, is strategic to Hezbollah and rebels have been under siege there for more than two years.

Many residents have left as stocks of food and medicines dried up because of the siege, but activists say there are still a few thousand civilians there, mostly in eastern districts.

In Aleppo province, the Observatory said regime helicopters dropped barrel bombs on Aysheh village near Al-Bab, killing five people including a woman and a baby.

For more than a week government forces have been targeting Al-Bab which is controlled by the jihadist Islamic State

group.

Al-Bab is strategically important because it is one of IS's closest positions to regime-held parts of Aleppo.

The Observatory said 82 civilians -- among them 12 children and 15 women -- have now been killed in regime raids on the northeastern region of Aleppo since July 11, mainly in Al-Bab.

group in Syria, promising those below that "freedom will come" to the region, activists said Sunday.

An anti-Islamic State group called Raqqa is Being Silently Slaughtered and the Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the leaflets had drawings showing dead forces of Evil and their flag turned upside down. Four fighters with the main Kurdish militia, the People's Protection Units, or YPG, walked down a street in the picture, with two words in Arab below: "Freedom will come."

The latest leaflet drop comes as YPG fighters have been advancing in northern Syria as close as 50 kilometers (30 miles) north of Raqqa.

Coalition warplanes have dropped such leaflets in the past. One previous had a cartoon showing masked Islamic State forces of Evil at a "hiring office" feeding people into a meat grinder.

Also Sunday, the forces of Evil gave Internet cafes in Raqaa four days to stop offering wireless Internet connections to nearby homes, the Observatory and Raqqa is Being Silently Slaughtered said. The move comes two weeks after forces of Evil released a video purporting to show the killing of two Syrian men in Raqqa, allegedly for spying.

The Islamic State group holds about a third of Syria and neighboring Iraq in its self-declared "caliphate."

On Friday, a truck bombing by the group in Iraq's eastern Diyala province killed 115 people at a crowded market. Authorities there have fired the local police chief and three officers, while two others are being investigated, said senior Iraqi police officials speaking on condition of anonymity

Briton jailed in US for supporting Taliban is released
[ARABNEWS] A British man who was last year sentenced by a US court to 12-1/2 years in prison after pleading guilty to running a website that supported the Taliban, has been released, his family said on Sunday.

Babar Ahmad's sentence included 10 years he had already served. US prosecutors had said his crimes included recruiting fighters for the Taliban and Al-Qaeda in the run-up to the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on New York City and Washington.

But the judge who sentenced Ahmad said she had not given him the maximum penalty of 25 years as she did not believe he had been directly involved with Al-Qaeda and was not at risk of being involved in future crimes.

"We, the family of Babar Ahmad, are delighted to announce that ... Babar has returned home to us after 11 years in prison," his family said in a statement.

Ahmad was extradited from Britannia in 2012 along with a second man, Syed Talha Ahsan. Both were charged in Connecticut as authorities argued they used an Internet service provider in the state to run at least one of their websites.

Ahmad's lawyers had argued that while he tried to help Moslems under attack in Bosnia and Chechnya through his publications in the 1990s, he regretted supporting the Taliban and condemned the Sept. 11 attacks.

"Eleven years of solitary confinement and isolation in ten different prisons has been an experience too profound to sum up in a few words here and now," Ahmad said. "In time, I look forward to sharing reflections on my experience to help inform others."

Rabbani in Badakhshan: Mujahideen Should Not Be Ignored
[Tolo News] Afghanistan's Foreign Affairs Minister Salahuddin Rabbani said on Sunday that in dealing with the country's security situation, the Mujahideen and religious leaders in Badakhshan must not be ignored.

Rabbani, who visited Badakhshan on Sunday, said: "The absence of the Mujahideen in government and within security forces is an issue that the Afghanistan government needs to address. The presence of the Mujahideen is effective and efficient."

"They have fought for 30 years in the name of religion and honesty in terms of defending the country. They have fought for freedom without a salary. They are again ready to serve their people and their country and they must not be ignored."

He went on to say that "neighboring countries are trying to make Badakhshan a Daesh base. "Big powers, a neighboring country including Daesh, al-Qaeda and other terrorist networks, even foeigners, are trying to position Badkhshan in the heart of north Wazoo," he said.

Meanwhile,

provincial council and civil society members are concerned about the province's insecurity and say if government ignores the security issue, the insecurity in Badakhshan will have a detrimental effect on the entire security situation of the northern parts of the country.

"In some districts of this province we noted that Lions of Islam have better equipment compared to security forces; unfortunately there is no strong will within the government to equip and strengthen the security forces in Afghanistan, especially in Badakhshan," civil society member Sayed Omer Baher said.

Greenfield: Amazon bans unapproved book
Welcome to Obama's America.

Amazon and Walmart are really providing a master class in why monopolies are so dangerous. And Amazon, with its ruthless grip over book sales, has now moved on to overt censorship.

This latest target was a book by Civil War author Michael Dreese. Dreese has written a number of books, including two about battle flags. The one about Union battle flags is titled, "Never Desert the Flag". The one about Confederate flags is titled, "This Flag Never Goes Down."

Amazon, which still sells Hitler's Mein Kampf, decided to ban the second book.

They have received only a few hundred shekels instead of their full salaries for the past four months because of Hamas's financial hardship. Full salaries are supposed to be paid out this month due to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani's decision to resume transferring grants from Iran in light of his agreement with the P5+1.

holy warriors with 16 air strikes in Iraq and nine in Syria on Saturday, the US military said.

The air strikes hit or destroyed tactical units, tunnels, buildings and weaponry in six Iraqi cities, with the most strikes - six - centered on Ramadi, the Combined Joint Task Force said in a statement Sunday.

In Syria, the coalition said eight air strikes around Hasakah - where Islamic State holy warriors launched an offensive last month - hit six fighting positions, three vehicles, two weapons caches and a bunker system. The ninth strike was near the Death Eater stronghold if Raqqa, it said.

Italy arrests people traffickers after girl dies on boat crossing
[Al Ahram] Italia tossed in the calaboose
Into the paddy wagon wit' yez!
three Egyptian men who are suspected to have piloted a boat carrying more than 300 migrants to Italia from Egypt, including a 10-year-old Syrian girl whose father said she died during the sea crossing, according to Italian media.

A Syrian man who was brought to Sicily on Wednesday after being rescued told an Italian prosecutor in that his daughter had fallen into a diabetic coma during the voyage and died.

Italian media said Egyptian people smugglers, to whom he had paid several thousand dollars for the trip, took a small backpack containing his daughter's insulin and threw it into the sea just as the boat was pulling out of port.

Without the medicine the girl did not survive the long trip and, at the urging of the other passengers on the crowded boat, her father buried her at sea, Italian media reported citing the prosecutor in Syracuse who took his testimony.

Police said they arrested the three men for people trafficking, not homicide, since the girl's father had said the men arrested were not the men who threw away the girl's medicine, Italian media reported on Saturday.

Italia is one of the main entry points, along with Greece, for migrants and refugees seeking to enter Europe from North Africa and the government estimates as many as 200,000 may come this year.

Tensions have risen in recent days with Italians increasingly protesting the opening of new shelters near their homes. Italia is housing more than 84,000 migrants in shelters across the country, the Interior Ministry says.

Algeria Attack: Soldiers Die in Extremist Ambush
[ALMANAR.LB] At least 11 soldiers have been killed in an attack by myrmidon myrmidon gunnies west of Algeria's capital.

The ambush took place on Thursday night at the start of celebrations marking the end of Ramadan.

Armed groups were active in the region, Ain Defla, in the 1990s.

Correspondents say although Algeria is now much more stable, gunnies with links to al-Qaeda and ISIL operate in parts of the country, mostly in remote mountain areas.

Thursday night's attack took place in a forest in Ain Defla, 240km (150 miles) from Algiers, a police commander told News Agency that Dare Not be Named - speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
as an official statement has not yet been released.

The attack was also reported by a security source and the local media, although they gave few other details.

Iraq
Iraq restructures Diyala police after Islamic State bombing
[RUDAW.NET] -Two police officials in Iraq's eastern Diyala province say authorities are restructuring a town's police department after an Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. -claimed truck bombing there killed 115 people.

The officials say the police chief in Khan Beni Saad and three officers have been fired in the wake of the attack on a crowded market as residents began to mark the end of the Moslem holy month of Ramadan. They say two other officers are being investigated. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity as they weren't authorized to talk to journalists.

At least 115 people, including women and kiddies, were killed in Friday night's attack in the mostly Shiite town and more than 170 were maimed. It was one of the deadliest attacks to strike Iraq since US troops left in 2011.

Daesh babies: Chilling new trend in the caliphate
[RFE/RL] The sharing of baby and toddler photos is a disturbing new trend among Daesh recruits who've come from Russia and the Central Asia region. That Daesh militants are having babies in Syria is not surprising, as foreign fighters are are encouraged to marry. Many others brought their children with them to Daesh-controlled territory.

But these babies are now being used by their fathers to prove they are "good" jihadis. Militants are sharing pictures of themselves holding their babies or toddlers and calling them "future mujahedin."

The trend is particularly fashionable among North Caucasian militants from the Chechen-led Daesh faction Katibat al-Aqsa. One Chechen militant, Mansur Shishani, was photographed in May posing with a toddler named Askhab. Both Mansur and the toddler are holding guns. Another Katibat al-Aqsa militant, Zakaria Kureish, posted an image of his two babies with the caption, "My children are growing up in the caliphate."

But it is not only rank-and-file terrorists who have posted such photos. The notorious Tajik militant Nusrat Nazarov (alias Abu Kholidi Kurobi) had a photograph of himself taken wearing military fatigues and a black beret with a Daesh logo, while holding a baby. Nazarov was reported killed in Syria earlier this month. The leader of Katibat al-Aqsa, a Chechen named Abu Umar Grozny, has photographed himself holding his baby daughter dressed in a camouflage-patterned head scarf.

These photographs are being used for recruitment purposes. The message is clear, in Daesh-controlled territory, even toddlers are taking up arms and are therefore more "manly" than those who stay at home and refuse to fight.

The future for the youngsters shown off in the photographs is bleak. Unless they are killed in fighting, or unless Daesh is dislodged, the male babies will undergo military training and ideological indoctrination from an early age. Unless Daesh is defeated before they are tweens, it will likely recruit them as "caliphate cubs." Daesh continues to use children under 18 as front-line fighters, and even as suicide bombers and to carry out execution-style killings.

#1  How long before these Islamic State babies are all starving in famine and we are asked to feed them.

some primitive civilisations we should have just denied access to technology. Never sold them weapons or anything tech. Just let them trade their caravans and smile and shake hands and take all our goods with us when we left. Not trade with them, not sell to them.

they would still now be fighting with swords and riding camels.

#2  perhaps we should cut off the flow of education to the Islamist world. That means saudi arabia, pakistan, any islamist or proto=jihadi is barred from western university education no matter how much money is waved. No Western contractor should go to Saudi to work or train or educate the local rubes.

let them discover new tech by themselves

I just hope they keep killing Iranians, Hezbolla, Turks and each other.

#4  If I read a book about ISIS back in the 80s there is no way I'd have believed this nonsense. Too over the top. Now I wonder if the fine folks we helped fight the Soviets in Afghanistan were more of the same or if we've now developed a newer, sicker brand of Islamist.

#5  rjs

I think ISIS is the least tayiqa using brand of Islamist. I think that is one thing that has made their recruitment efforts far more effective than AlQ or the Taliban, etc.

Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
by detonating a Vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED).

Officials in Kabul police department said the VBIED was confiscated by police forces from the vicinity of 15th police district.

The officials further added that the murderous Moslems were looking to carry out an attack during the Eid days using the vehicle packed with explosives.

Some weapons including Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) launchers were also confiscated by the police forces, the officials added.

This comes as the Taliban-led insurgency has been rampant since the group announced its summer offensive earlier this year and since then launched numerous attacks across the country including capital Kabul.
