Taiwan reads tea leaves, sharply boosts defense budget amid China tension
TAIPEI (Reuters) - Taiwan unveiled its largest defense spending increase in more than a decade on Thursday amid rising military tensions with its giant neighbor China, which considers the self-ruled island its own and has not renounced the use of force against it.

President Tsai Ing-wen’s cabinet signed off on an 8.3% increase in military spending for the year starting January to T$411.3 billion ($13.11 billion), its largest yearly gain since 2008, according to Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics.

China warned in July it was ready for war if there was any move toward Taiwan’s independence and denounced arms sales from the United States to Taiwan, which is among a growing number of flashpoints in the U.S.-China relationship including a trade war and U.S. sanctions.

"To react to the enemy’s threat and to ensure national security, the defense budget continues to grow stably," Taiwan’s defense ministry said in a statement.

The ministry said it will spend more to purchase advanced weapons from overseas and to build a fully volunteer force after decades of conscription.

If approved by lawmakers, which is likely given the ruling Democratic Progressive Party’s control of parliament, it will be the highest since records started in 2001, data from the statistics agency show.

Walmart raises earnings forecast for year after jump in quarterly sales
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. retailer Walmart Inc (WMT.N) reported an estimate-beating jump in second-quarter U.S. comparable sales on Thursday as shoppers boosted purchases at its stores and websites, sending its shares up 5% in premarket trading.

Walmart raised its earnings expectations for the year after recording 20 quarters, or five straight years, of U.S. growth, unmatched by any other retailer.

The prices of some items sold by the retailer have climbed due to tariffs on Chinese imports, but the company is managing that pressure by negotiating with suppliers and sourcing from alternate supply bases, Chief Financial Officer Brett Biggs told Reuters in an interview.

U.S. President Donald Trump raised tariffs on $200 billion of Chinese imports to 25% from 10% earlier this year, a move that has begun pushing up prices of thousands of products including clothing, furniture and electronics.

#2  Still chinese crap bought from distributors at higher prices.
Posted by: Skidmark || 08/15/2019 10:33 Comments || Top||

#3  So? If they are paying those higher prices, it means that the US government is getting a large percent of that money (10-25 percent, depending) and also means that if the trade war continues (it will) Walmart will grow used to lower profit margins, which is generally a good thing, since the retail industry has been selling cheap crap for dramatic markups for decades. It's also a sign of a generally strong economy that retail is doing well.

‘Screaming & laughing’: Teen killed by machete-wielding thugs is London’s latest stabbing victim
[RT] A 16-year-old boy has become London’s latest murder victim after he was allegedly chased into a London estate by three attackers and stabbed in the chest and back with a "machete-type knife."

The teenager banged repeatedly on doors shouting: "Help me, help me," in Munster Square, near Regent’s Park, on Monday night, but was turned away after being stabbed with the foot-long blade, the Evening Standard reports.

Neighbours who witnessed the fatal attack described how events apparently unfolded. Rosanara Begum, 55, claimed that the assailants fled the scene "screaming and laughing." While her daughter alleged that one of the young attackers had a "long black machete-type knife."

Naqeeb Khan, 44, claimed that one resident opened the door to the victim then closed it "when they saw he’d been stabbed."
So it’s that kind of neighbourhood. What odds the jolly yoots are Moslem colonists?
His death marks the 90th murder investigation opened by Scotland Yard this year. Fifteen of the capital’s victims have been teenagers, 14 of whom were fatally stabbed.

Scotland Yard released a statement on Tuesday revealing that police were called at 11.10pm in connection with a man having been stabbed in central London.

State legislator wants to use seized fentanyl in Ohio executions
[The Columbus Dispatch] A death-penalty expert calls it unworkable, but an Ohio House member intends to introduce a bill to allow the state’s condemned to be executed with illegal fentanyl seized by police.

In a Monday email, Rep. Scott Wiggam, R-Wooster, sought co-sponsors for his planned legislation, which would employ a synthetic opioid that has killed thousands of Ohioans in accidental overdoses.

"I believe that seized fentanyl (considered forefeited contraband through the court system) is the best solution" to the state’s inability to buy execution drugs from their manufacturers, Wiggam wrote.

Wiggam proposes that the Department of Rehabilitation and Correction work with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration to secure fentanyl seized in law enforcement operations for lethal injection.

#1  It would "work" just fine. Being as pharma grade stuff has been cited in deaths there's not much doubt about that. Problem is, the invitation to lawsuits is huge. How will the dept. of corrections ensure the seized illegal product is pure?

George Carlin once quipped, "You know, they use an alcohol swab on the arm before they give a lethal injection..."

#4  Why? Why do we have to use drugs at all?

I maintain that hanging people is good for everybody involved. It makes a dramatic statement, it is of cultural significance, it is easy to do when drug companies are being political creeps, and it doesn't require much prep. And it really isn't a comparatively cruel way to kill somebody.

Obama Fed Chair Throws Cold Water on Liberals' 'Trump Recession' Hopes
BLUF:
On Wednesday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped more than 700 points and the yield on U.S. 30-year Treasury bonds fell to a record low, sparking fears of an imminent recession. Yet Janet Yellen, former Federal Reserve chairwoman under President Barack Obama, said it is unlikely the U.S. economy is headed into a recession soon.

When asked if the U.S. economy was headed into a recession, she said, "I think the answer is most likely no."

Europe
Germany: Former 3-star general slams Merkel for pro-mass migration policies
[VOE] Joachim Wundrak, a former three-star general, announced that he’s going to run for mayor of Hanover as a member of Alternative for Germany (AfD) party after harshly criticizing Chancellor Merkel’s pro-mass migration policies.

According to the Swiss newspaper Neue Zurcher Zeitung, the former general, who was once a party member of Merkel’s centrist Christian Democratic Union (CDU), blamed the globalist front woman for facilitating "anti-German", pro-mass migration policies.

Wundrak explained during an interview with the Swiss newspaper that he decided to leave the CDU in 2017 because Merkel failed to recognize and take into serious consideration the mistakes she made during the migrant crisis in 2015.

He also mentioned that in 2018, after retiring as a general in the Luftwaffe, he took a serious risk by joining the national populist AfD since "Anyone who confesses to supporting the AfD is bullied and marginalised. They also get into the focus of Antifa."

The extreme-left Antifa organization have often targeted AfD party members. While some of its members advocate for the outright assassination of AfD politicians, others don’t shy away from taking credit for brutal attacks on AfD politicians, as was the case in the vicious beating of AfD politician Frank Magnitz early this year.

-War on Police-
Leftist attack on ICE office in San Antonio may be a portent of worse to come
[American Thinker] San Antonio's ICE office was hit with a barrage of bullets in the wee hours of the morning, mercifully striking no one, though there were people working in the specially targeted office.

Obviously, what happened was a political act, rooted in die-hard opposition to any enforcement of U.S. borders. According to the Washington Examiner, it was the fourth such act targeting law enforcement in just a few weeks:
Last month, protesters with Never Again blocked the entrances to ICE's national headquarters in Washington, D.C.

In mid-July, police in Tacoma, Washington, fatally shot an armed man after they said he hurled Molotov cocktails at an ICE building.

On July 12, a group of protesters in Aurora, Colorado, took down an American flag and two other flags from outside an ICE facility and raised a Mexican flag and a defaced "thin blue line" flag, which commemorates law enforcement.

Antifa is a likely suspect, given its open advocacy of violence and encouragement from some elements of the media, such as Fredo Cuomo. But there are others, from the list cited by the Examiner above, as well as a new investigative book coming up from Michelle Malkin, chronicling the funders of open borders. She describes it here.

It represents a downward slide, the Latin Americanization of U.S. politics. If you want to know how Colombia became a hellhole in the late 1990s when first Pablo Escobar and his M-19 leftist guerrilla allies waged a reign of terror on the country's judges, then the Cali cartel did its damage, then the FARC Marxist narco-terrorists made open warfare with the Colombia government, and now the ELN has made Colombia so miserable, look no farther than the leftist rhetoric coming from the pols, the press, and the university intellectuals. Together, they created the Petri dish from which terror attacks on government buildings could go off with such impunity.

Senate Democrats ask Trump to shift wall money to gun measures
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Two senior Senate Democrats on Wednesday asked President Donald Trump to withdraw his $5 billion request for border wall funding and use the money on initiatives to combat gun violence in the aftermath of back-to-back mass shootings in Texas and Ohio.

In a letter, Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer and Senator Patrick Leahy informed Trump that he does not have enough support in Congress for his wall funding request to be included in the federal budget for fiscal year 2020, which begins on Oct. 1.

"Instead, we urge you to support spending funds you have requested for the border wall, on other pressing needs such as proven initiatives that will address the threats of gun violence and white supremacist extremism in America," wrote Schumer and Leahy, who is the top Democrat on the Senate Appropriations Committee that oversees government outlays.

The White House had no immediate comment.

Taco eating contestant Dana Hutchings eats his last taco
FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Family members of the man who choked and died during a taco eating competition Tuesday say they are still stunned by the loss.

Mecca Hutchings says her brother, Dana Andrew Hutchings, told her he was going to take part in the competition hours before he died.

"Who would think something like this would happen?" she said Wednesday.

Mecca said it still doesn't seem real. She and her mother Dora are left with only these memories of Dana.

"He told us he was going to a taco eating contest, but we didn't think something like this would happen," Mecca said.

Fresno County sheriff's authorities say Hutchings was taking part in an eating competition at Chukchansi Park when he started choking.

US markets plummet in their worst day of 2019
[Aljazeera] The Dow tumbles 800 points as investors worry about the global economy, the US-China trade war and Brexit.

Wall Street sold off sharply on Wednesday as recession fears gripped the market after the United States Treasury yield curve temporarily inverted for the first time in 12 years.

All three major US indexes closed down about three percent, with the blue-chip Dow posting its biggest one-day point drop since October after two-year Treasury yields surpassed those of 10-year bonds, which is considered a classic signal of recession.

Dire economic data from China and Germany suggested a faltering global economy, stricken by geopolitical tensions, Brexit woes and the increasingly belligerent US-China trade war.

Germany reported a contraction in second-quarter gross domestic product, and China's industrial growth in July hit a 17-year low.

"It was all negative and not much positive today," said Chuck Carlson, chief executive officer at Horizon Investment Services in Hammond, Indiana in the US. "We're outside of the earnings season and markets are being batted around by news."

Daily Mail sez Ghislaine Maxwell is in Manchester-By-The-Sea, Massachusetts
[Mail] Ghislaine Maxwell, long-time consort of Jeffrey Epstein and the alleged procurer of victims in his underage sex trafficking ring, has been laying low in a New England beach town, DailyMail.com has learned exclusively.

Maxwell, 57, is in a relationship with Scott Borgerson, 43, and has been living with him at his secluded oceanfront property at the end of a long private road in Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts.

The British socialite has been loath to leave the $3 million mansion, a source told DailyMail.com amid heightened focus on Epstein's alleged co-conspirators following the convicted pedophile's apparent suicide on Saturday.

'She's become a real homebody, rarely ventures out. She's the antithesis of the woman who traveled extensively and partied constantly with Epstein,' said a source familiar with Maxwell's new life.

Two Swedes Suspected in Danish Tax Agency Blast
[AnNahar] Police said Wednesday two Swedes were suspected of being behind a powerful explosion that rocked Denmark's tax agency last week, damaging the building's exterior but causing no serious injuries.
Would they be Swedes or “Swedes”?
A 22-year-old was arrested in Sweden on Tuesday, Copenhagen police told a presser while a second suspect, aged 23, was still on the lam.

"We have raided several addresses in Sweden. We've seized the car we believe was used by the perpetrators," inspector Jorgen Bergen Skov said.

The August 6 blast smashed windows and tore apart the front of the building in Copenhagen's Osterbro neighbourhood.

One person was hit by flying fragments and sought treatment at a hospital. Two people were inside the agency at the time of the earth-shattering kaboom but escaped injury.

Police said analysis showed industrial explosives were used in the blast.
...which we were told means gang activity, and gang activity probably means Muslim colonists.
Three days later, another explosion rocked a cop shoppe in the nearby Norrebro neighbourhood, also causing damage to the building's exterior but no injuries.

However,
if you can't say something nice about a person some juicy gossip will go well...
"there is nothing that indicates that" the two blasts were linked, Skov told news hounds.
The Local - Sweden adds:
One man, aged 22, was arrested in Swedish city Malmö
...a once lovely city now overflowing with Muslim colonists being multicultural at all the natives within reach, particularly those of female or Jewish persuasion...
on Tuesday and will be extradited to Denmark. Once he reaches Copenhagen he will appear for preliminary court proceedings, which the prosecution will request take place behind closed doors.

Swedish newspaper Kvällsposten reports the 22-year-old has no previous criminal convictions in the country.

The second man, a 23-year-old, is yet to be detained but an international arrest warrant for him has been issued, Skov said.

BREAKING: Epstein Had Multiple Broken Bones In Neck, Common In Homicide By Strangulation, Experts Say
[DailyWire] An autopsy of convicted pedophile and alleged sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein reportedly found that the wealthy financier had multiple broken bones in his neck which deepens the speculation surrounding his death last Saturday.

"Among the bones broken in Epstein’s neck was the hyoid bone, which in men is near the Adam’s apple," The Washington Post reported. "Such breaks can occur in those who hang themselves, particularly if they are older, according to forensics experts and studies on the subject. But they are more common in victims of homicide by strangulation, the experts said."

The New York Post reported on Monday that Epstein "was found hanging in his lower Manhattan jail cell with a bedsheet wrapped around his neck and secured to the top of a bunk bed" and "apparently killed himself by kneeling toward the floor and strangling himself."

The revelation about the broken bones that were found in Epstein's neck followed the revelation on Tuesday night that the two guards who were supposed to be monitoring him fell asleep for three hours and allegedly falsified prison records to cover up their actions.

"People familiar with the autopsy, who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitive stage of the investigation, said Sampson’s office is seeking additional information on Epstein’s condition in the hours before his death," The Washington Post added. "That could include video evidence of the jail hallways, which may establish whether anyone entered Epstein’s cell during the night he died; results of a toxicology screening to determine if there was any unusual substance in his body; and interviews with guards and inmates who were near his cell."

The New York Post reported on Wednesday that Epstein's last words to his lawyers were "I’ll see you Sunday."

"The convicted pedophile also told his lawyers that the neck injuries he suffered in an earlier incident at the Metropolitan Correctional Center were inflicted by his hulking, ex-cop cellmate, which led the lawyers to request that he be taken off a suicide watch, according to a source familiar with Epstein’s case," The New York Post added.

The source told The New York Post: "What he really wanted to do was get bail so he could cooperate."

The Washington Post further noted that varying studies those who have committed suicide have found that 6-25% of them break the hyoid bone, which is one of the broken bones found in Epstein's neck.

Epstein's suicide came after the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York (SDNY) unsealed more than 2,000 documents in the case on Friday, including affidavits and depositions of key witnesses in a lawsuit against Epstein and socialite Ghislane Maxwell.

Included in the released documents were multiple high-profile people who are accused of engaging in sex with a woman who claims that she was forced to work for Epstein.

Among those accused by Virginia Roberts Giuffre, 33, are "prominent Democratic politicians ‐ former Sen. George Mitchell and ex-New Mexico governor and Clinton cabinet official Bill Richardson," Fox News reported.
You just can't make this stuff up.

#10  Was there ever any doubt ? You could tell me a knife was found in his hands with the blade buried to the hilt in his eye, and I'd still say it was murder.

Look at the man's lifestyle, look at his eyes in the pics. That's not a guy that gives up easy. The only reason that man kills himself is if he's convinced he won't be continuing his old life. He still had his chances. A man like that doesn't take secrets to the grave willingly. He trades them for better deals, and he had some pricey goods to trade.

This was not supposed to happen in a developed nation like the US. The entrenched corruption and zero accountability of the democrat deepState has resulted in a system not very different from comic-book depictions of an evil god-machine run by hedonist egoists.

The sticky wicket would have been his testimony. But 'what difference does it make', he's dead. There simply 'wasn't enough time' to get competent prison guards in there to save him.

It is housed at NYU School of Law to "support state attorneys general in defending and promoting clean energy, climate and environmental laws and policies," according to its website.

Doug Seaton, a local lawyer for conservative causes who is representing Energy Policy Advocates in the case, likened Ellison hiring a lawyer with Bloomberg's money to the Department of Human Services installing an insurance executive in its management suite.

"Attorney General Ellison knows Minnesotans would be appalled if they found out a billionaire with a political agenda was able to purchase the AG's office by hiring and paying its lawyers," Seaton said.

In a statement carried by Al Ahd News website, the Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service said that its troops have carried out a military operation based on intelligence information to arrest IS snuffies in Ar Rutbah and Wadi Hauran districts in Anbar.

The operation, according to the statement, "resulted in the killing of 10 Islamic State krazed killers, beside five arrests."
Rudaw adds:
"As the First Tactical Unit from the Counter-Terrorism Service, and in coordination with the [US-led] coalition's airpower, we carried out [operations] in Wadi Hauran desert areas in Rutba, western Anbar," read a statement from the ICTS on Tuesday.

Wadi Hauran is on the outskirts of the town of Rutba, 420 kilometers from Baghdad.

The overnight operation was launched following the collection of "accurate intelligence," and used "multiple air strikes" to "track down the remnants of the ISIS terrorist gangs," the statement added.

Two of the ten gunnies killed were wearing boom belts, and several hideouts were destroyed, the statement detailed.

Ahmady, a social anthropologist who studied at the London School of Economics (LSE), was taken by security forces on August 10, his wife Shafaq Rahmani told the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).

KHRN said Ahmady’s house and car were search repeatedly and some of his belongings confiscated. Rahmani told BBC Persian they took away some documents and Ahmady’s ID card.

He has reportedly been given a one-month detention order and is being held at the notorious Evin Prison.

The reason for his arrest was not specified and it is not known where he is being held. Neither British nor Iranian officials have confirmed the arrest.

"They have not provided any information about the reason for the arrest or the charges against Kameel," Rahmani wrote on Instagram.

Ahmady’s research covered topics including female genital mutilation (FGM), child marriage, and ethnic minority rights ‐ all sensitive topics in religiously conservative Iran.

According to KHRN he had been living in the Iranian capital for several years.

The arrest comes at a sensitive time in UK-Iran

"Machines Designed to Change Humans"
[Medium.com] The Tech Industry’s War on Kids

Nestled in an unremarkable building on the Stanford University campus in Palo Alto, California, is the Stanford Persuasive Technology Lab, founded in 1998. The lab’s creator, Dr. B.J. Fogg, is a psychologist and the father of persuasive technology, a discipline in which digital machines and apps ‐ including smartphones, social media, and video games ‐ are configured to alter human thoughts and behaviors. As the lab’s website boldly proclaims: "Machines designed to change humans."

Fogg speaks openly of the ability to use smartphones and other digital devices to change our ideas and actions: "We can now create machines that can change what people think and what people do, and the machines can do that autonomously." Called "the millionaire maker," Fogg has groomed former students who have used his methods to develop technologies that now consume kids’ lives. As he recently touted on his personal website, "My students often do groundbreaking projects, and they continue having impact in the real world after they leave Stanford... For example, Instagram has influenced the behavior of over 800 million people.

#1  Abuse of technology, for frivolous shit. Creates more idiots and psychos than decadence literature did. I would rather that machines and tech elevated humanity.

Tech could have made possible the democratization of Justice. A secured voting system where the Judge is a remote server and the entire population reads the arguments, peruses the evidence online and votes on a very limited choice of verdicts. Add in an AI that just needs weighted data, the skew pushing to lean toward a ruling, then the AI evaluates the best possible outcome.

But the powers of this world will not go for such a thing, because the coercive power of every state is enshrined in a black-robed arbiter who may be senile for all you can do about it.

The day a consensus powered Robo-Judge walks into courtrooms, the reign of criminality is over.

#2  I'm a broken record on this. See David Gelernter. Kids need to learn fundamentals, reading, writing, mathematics. I'm sure someone, somewhere has written a software package designed to provide drills in the fundamentals of reasoning. I'm even more sure you will not find it in general use in schools at the level where kids should be learning this. I also know teachers have long given up on seeing stuff lifted verbatim from wikipedia in kids cut and paste essays. At least the kids doing that have learned how to cut and paste.

The tech industry is all about telling kids what to think. How to think is criminal knowledge in the brave new world they want.

Home Front: Culture Wars
Why Ripley In ‘Aliens' Is The Ultimate Anti-Mary Sue
[HollywoodInToto] Few science fiction films have aged as gracefully as 1979's "Alien."

The special effects, the monster makeup and even the anti-corporate jabs seem as fresh today as they were back then.

The same holds true for its belated sequel.

The 1986 smash "Aliens" brought Sigourney Weaver back for more intergalactic scares. This time we weren't surprised by Weaver's Ripley. She appeared to be just one of seven potential victims in the first "Alien" adventure. By the film's end we saw a natural born leader, a scrappy soul who outlasted an efficient killing machine.

Ripley became nothing less than a sci-fi icon in "Aliens."

What's fascinating about watching James Cameron's sequel today is spotting what isn't on the screen. Thirty-three years ago, Cameron didn't stuff the narrative with empowering speeches. He didn't need to virtue signal to his fellow filmmakers.

The screenplay doesn't emasculate male characters to make Ripley look more bad ass. Bill Paxton's glorious Hudson is blissful comic relief.

In short, Cameron wrote Ripley as a full-bodied character sans agenda. And she's glorious.

The 1990 Director's Cut version, available on the franchise's four-pack edition, is a mixed bag. Some scenes are clearly unnecessary, like a series of remote gun turrets which blast the alien invasion until the ammo runs dry.

Other moments pack a sizable wallop.

Had "Aliens" been made in 2019, the mother-daughter connection might have been underplayed or ignored entirely. Motherhood connects to the patriarchy, the screenwriters might declare. Social Justice critics would complain about parenthood getting in the way of Ripley’s career and/or heroism.

Ripley’s romantic bond with Hicks (Michael Biehn), served up with delicacy by Cameron’s script, also wouldn’t make the cut.

Powerful women can’t be identified by their cis-gender emotions. Why doesn’t Ripley flirt with Vasquez, the buff female Marine played by Jenette Goldstein?

Any flaws in Ripley, from moments of weakness to feminine flourishes, would be wiped clean.

Instead, she exists forever on home video and streaming as the Anti-Mary Sue.

It’s one reason the ’80s endure. The decade offered direct pleasures, free from social media scolds and finger-wagging lectures. The films featured heroes who could do the wrong thing, or treat their fellow characters in ways we wouldn’t accept with our friends and families, and still earn our cheers.

Imagine "Ferris Bueller’s Day Off" hitting theaters today. The cries against a straight white male gaming the system would drown everything out.

"Save Ferris?" How about, "Check your privilege!"

No apologies are necessary with Ferris or Ripley. They remain entrenched in pop culture lore, impervious to cultural scolds.
Part of the reason of Hollywood declining and pumping out reboots as fast as they can. Anyone with real writing talent will be shunned in favor of "wokeness" and making all female roles Mary Sues.

Judge rejects FBI plea to keep Comey memos redacted
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] A federal judge ruled against the FBI’s efforts to keep some redacted documents related to former FBI Director JamesThe spine of the FBI is the rule of law Comey
The disgraced, except in his own mind, former head of the FBI...
’s memos hidden from the public.

The ruling comes after the FBI asked Judge James Boasberg to reconsider a district court ruling earlier this year that CNN and other media organizations and watchdog groups were entitled to information related both to Comey's memos and to how those memos were used in special counsel Robert Mueller’s Trump-Russia investigation, which concluded earlier this year. But the FBI battled against disclosure.

The bureau was claiming it had "effectively asserted" a Freedom of Information Act exemption as the basis to protect its redactions. But the judge said the FBI never actually made this assertion in the relevant filings. Nevertheless, the FBI wanted the judge to act like it had and to rule accordingly in its favor to stop more information from being released. The FBI also argued that, even though it invoked the National Security Act, it had actually meant to invoke the Freedom of Information Act instead.

The judge denied these requests Monday, calling the arguments a bridge too far and pointing out the FBI never made the arguments it now wanted him to consider.

Media and watchdog groups have fought to obtain documents relating to Comey's notes through federal open records laws since May 2017, when the existence of Comey's memos was first made public. Those memos recount hotly disputed conversations between Comey and Trump that are hotly disputed.

Ex Felon Arrested in Phil post kidnapping; no fatalities
[FoxNews] Philly drug bust fails as 12 fat guys stand behind 6 fat guys and 2 crash on the way

At least six Philadelphia police officers were shot, reportedly grazed in the head, in an ongoing shootout in the city's Nicetown neighborhood on Wednesday afternoon that has been unfolding for almost three hours.

Three officers were rushed to Temple University Hospital, officials told Fox 29.

Three other officers were taken to Einstein Hospital, at least one of them was shot in the arm. All six officers were in stable condition and being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Update as of 10:15 a.m. EDT:
The suspect linked to Wednesday's five hour standoff in Philadelphia surrendered to authorities just after midnight Thursday, exiting the residence with his hands in the air and with a police light shining on him, surrounded by a cloud of tear gas.

The dramatic shootout in Philadelphia stretched on for hours as six officers were shot -- and two officers and three hostages were later freed, apparently unhurt.

The suspect was identified by unnamed police sources as Maurice Hill, 36, of Philadelphia. Hill has a long record of gun-related convictions and of attempting to evade arrest, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported

Ross said two officers with the Narcotics Strike Force were serving a warrant at the multifamily home -- in what may have been a drug-related offense -- when things "went awry almost immediately," and the shooter opened fire at the home. The two officers were barricaded in separate rooms with several hostages.

#9  Re. #8, Procopius2k.

Those percentages are just about right.

For four years, I worked in a Jail ministry in tennessee that was able to flip those statistics so that of the 80 or so prisoners we recommended for release, only 15-20% returned to Jail. We had a lot of cooperation between the Warden, the officers in charge, another Jail Ministry that had connections with numerous employers willing to take prisoners, and one of the Municipal Judges (I testified during a release hearing that he was holding, and when I mentioned our Jail ministry, he was all ears, and thanked me from the Bench for all our work.)

Mind you, we were VERY selective in whom we recommended, looking for evidence of real change rather than blind leftist-liberal adherence to "ideals" (that later became Social Justice thinking).

Good times. VERY good times.

Indian court acquits 6 of killing Muslim dairy farmer in cow vigilante case
[ARABNEWS] An Indian court on Wednesday acquitted six men of the killing of a 55-year-old Moslem dairy farmer, citing lack of evidence, raising questions over the prosecution’s failure to make its case despite videos of a crowd beating him in the street.

The 2017 attack on Pehlu Khan and his two sons in the western state of Rajasthan by a suspected mob of cow vigilantes caused public outrage and demands for swift action.

Videos shot on mobile phones showed Khan begging for mercy as the crowd set upon him after stopping his truck with cows in the back. He died but his sons survived.

In Hindu-majority India, many consider cows sacred and killing the animal is outlawed in most states.

Since 2014 when Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power, Moslem organizations have complained about Moslems coming under attack amid a resurgence in right-wing Hindu activism.

Hukum Singh Sharma, a defense lawyer, said the court in the town of Alwar had freed the six accused because the prosecution could not link them to the attack on Khan.

"Police had picked up innocent people and all the six accused were framed because of political reasons," Singh said.

The court did not accept the video evidence, Yogendra Singh, the prosecution lawyer, told NDTV news channel.

The court heard the testimonies of more than 40 witnesses, including Khan’s two sons.

Khan had told the crowd he was bringing the cows from a cattle fair, but they had screamed that he was planning to slaughter the cattle for beef.

Some prominent Indians took to Twitter to vent their anger over the acquittal.

"Utterly Shameful! This is a lynching that was caught on camera!!! We live in a state of utter anarchy it seems.. the law, the constitution, even evidence it seems are meaningless. Dark dark times!! #PehluKhan," said Swara Bhasker, an activist and a film actor.

Shama Mohammed, a spokeswoman for India’s opposition Congress party, branded the court decision "a gross travesty of justice."

India’s Moslem minority engages in the trade of cattle for slaughter and consumption, chiefly of buffalo meat, as well as dairy purposes.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
US Attorney paralegal helped gangbanger son go after ‘snitches’: feds
[NYPOST] A paralegal in the New Jersey US Attorney’s Office was busted for allegedly using her work equipment to help her gangbanger son and his Bronx crew expose members "snitching," prosecutors announced Tuesday.

Tawanna Hilliard ‐ whose son Tyquan is part of the ruthless 5-9 Brims set of the Bloods street gang ‐ in 2016 used her work computer to help a crew member find possible turncoats, as well as to obtain the personal information of a rival member she thought was "trying to jam my son up," documents filed in Brooklyn federal court allege.

The Department of Justice employee also allegedly meddled in a pending robbery case against her son in 2018.

Prosecutors say the Brooklyn resident posted a video on YouTube of one of her son’s alleged accomplices speaking to law enforcement in an effort to prove he was "snitching" to authorities.

The clip ‐ which she had obtained as discovery material in Tyquan’s case ‐ was titled "NYC Brim Gang Member Snitching Pt. 1."

After the video was posted, the co-conspirator, identified only as John Doe, began receiving death threats from other inmates while he was in jail, the documents say.

When Sherlocks searched Hilliard’s Flatbush home in September 2018, they found the video interviews with him and another accomplice on her computer.

They also found text messages where Hilliard lamented that her son "has no line of defense because his co-d told everything."

After the clips were posted, she allegedly texted multiple people that "there’s more [videos]" and that what was posted was just "the tip of the iceberg."

In another message she said John Doe was "giving up murders, victims, shooters and all ... SMH."

Her son was behind bars when the videos were posted, but he allegedly sent letters to various people ‐ including the FBI and a senior Assistant US Attorney in the Eastern District of New York ‐ threatening to upload more clips of John Doe’s statement.

'Every brick will be countered with a stone,' PM Imran warns Modi against action in AJK
[DAWN] Prime Minister Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who ain't the brightest knife in the national drawer...
, while addressing a special session of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
legislative assembly on Wednesday, warned Indian premier Narendra Modi that any action by India in Pakistain would be countered with a stronger response.

Agreeing with the AJK prime minister, Raja Farooq Haider, who in his speech in the AJK parliament had said India would also look to create trouble in Pakistain after Kashmir, Prime Minister Imran said: "This will not stop in Kashmir ‐ this hate-filled ideology will come towards Pakistain."

The Pakistain Army has full knowledge that India has made a plan to take action in AJK," he shared in his address during what was his first visit to the region since becoming the prime minister in 2018. "Like the action they took in Balakot after Pulwama, according to our information, they have made a more horrendous plan now.

"To shift the world's focus away from occupied Kashmir, they want to take action in AJK."

The police said the first information report (FIR) against her was registered under Sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 121 (waging war against Pakistain), 124A (sedition) of the Pakistain Penal Code and Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Al-Shabab militants kill 50 soldiers in attack on Somalia military base
[ARABNEWS] The Islamist krazed killer group al-Shabaab
...... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
claimed to have killed at least 50 soldiers in a double car-bomb and gun attack on Wednesday on a military base in Somalia.

Civilians were also killed in the crossfire in an hour-long gunbattle at the base in Awdheegle, 70 km southwest of the capital, Mogadishu.

"We heard two huge blasts and gunfire from the direction of the military base. I saw several soldiers running away to escape but we cannot know how many were killed," Awdheegle resident Aden Abdullahi said.

Halima Farah, a shopkeeper, said government troops were in control of the town after the attack. "We believe both the Lions of Islam and government suffered great loss of life, but we cannot see their casualties. Stray bullets killed people in their homes."

Al-Shabaab, which is linked to al-Qaeda, said it had killed 50 soldiers and lost only two of its members who drove the boom-mobiles. Army vehicles were also burned, it said.

However,
some people cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go...
the Somali army’s operations commander Gen. Yusuf Rageh Odowa said his forces had repelled the krazed killers, and that many of the attackers’ corpses lay at the scene while others were captured.

"After the blasts they tried to attack the army defenses but were defeated. We are still pursuing them. Some soldiers sustained minor injuries from blast shrapnel but nothing major," he said.

Capt. Hussein Ali, a military officer from a nearby town, said soldiers behind sandbags had stopped the boom-mobiles from reaching the base by firing to detonate them.

"There are casualties from al-Shabaab and government forces, but we have no exact figure," he said.

Wednesday’s attack followed last week’s recapture by government forces of most of Awdheegle district. al-Shabaab was forced out of Mogadishu in 2011 and has since lost most of its other strongholds.

However,
some people cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go...
the attack has renewed the focus on the krazed killers’ links with Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
. Evidence emerged this month that Doha colluded in al-Shabaab attacks in Somalia targeting the assets of other Gulf states.

A phone conversation between Khalifa Kayed al-Muhanadi, a Qatari businessman close to Qatar’s emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, and Hassan bin Hamza Hashem, the Qatari ambassador to Somalia, revealed Doha’s involvement in al-Shabaab terrorism in the port of Bosaso, which is operated by the Dubai company DP World.

"The bombings and killings, we know who is behind them," al-Muhanadi told the envoy. "Our friends were behind the last bombings."

Clashes between pro-govt forces, rebels kill 59 in Syria; al Nusra claims shot down, captured pilot
[DAWN] Clashes between regime loyalists and murderous Moslems in rebel-held northwest Syria killed 59 combatants on Tuesday, a war monitor said.

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else
...al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, from which sprang the Islamic State...
(HTS), a jihadist group led by Syria’s former Al Qaeda affiliate, has since January controlled most of Idlib province as well as parts of neighbouring Hama, Aleppo and Latakia provinces. Several other armed rebel groups also operate in the region.

Fighting in southern Idlib and rural Latakia on Tuesday claimed the lives of 29 pro-government forces as well as 30 jihadists and allied rebels, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

It came as regime warplanes pummelled the Idlib region with air strikes, killing three civilians in the town of Khan Sheikhoun, the Britannia-based monitor added.

Regime forces and anti-government fighters have been caught in fierce battles in the region for days, as the former presses with an advance toward a strip straddling the Hama and Idlib governorates.

On Sunday, regime forces seized the town of al-Habeet in Idlib’s southern countryside, in their first major ground advance in the province since an escalation on the jihadist-dominated enclave more than three months ago.

The region was supposed to be protected from a massive government offensive by a Ottoman Turkish-Russian buffer zone deal struck last September.

But it has come under increasing bombardment by Damascus and its backer Moscow since the end of April that has killed 816 civilians, according to the Observatory.

Syrian opposition shoots down regime warplane over Idlib

[Rudaw] Syrian opposition fighters on Wednesday shot down a regime warplane over the northwest province of Idlib, according to a war monitor.

Opposition fighters captured the pilot, who ejected from the Sukhoi 22 jet near the strategically important opposition-held town of Khan Sheikhoun, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said.

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), the jihadist group in control of Idlib, did not say how the jet was shot down, but SOHR said heavy machine guns were used.

Syrian state news is yet to confirm the incident.

Two Illegal Immigrants Arrested for Repeatedly Raping 11-Year-Old Girl
[AMGREATNESS] Two illegal immigrants colonists residing in the Washington D.C. suburb and sanctuary county of Montgomery County, Maryland are accused of repeatedly raping an 11-year-old girl. Mauricio Barrera-Navidad, 29, of Damascus, and Carlos Palacios-Amaya, 28, of Gaithersburg, were arrested and each charged with second-degree rape. The two men knew the girl through a friendship with her older brother.
Oh? And was big bro ok with all this?
The child reported the rapes to a social worker at her school.

In September 2018, the victim was introduced to her older brother’s friend, Palacios-Amaya. Over the course of the next few months, the then 27-year-old man raped the middle schooler on multiple occasions, authorities allege. The victim recalled one instance where Palacios-Amaya "used his cell phone to video record the two of them having sex," police noted in court documents.

The victim told the social worker that Palacios-Amaya would often pressure her not to attend school so that she could stay home while her parents were at work. That gave Palacios-Amaya unsupervised access to the girl.

Investigators say while reviewing the victim’s cell phone, they located numerous photographs of Palacios-Amaya with the girl.

The other suspect, Barrera-Navidad, reportedly attended the victim’s older brother’s birthday party on July 2018. The celebration took place at a mobile home park in Germantown.

At one point in the evening, Barrera-Navidad and the 11-year-old victim entered a bedroom. According to police, Barrera-Navidad raped the girl and then continued to communicate with her via cell phone for an undisclosed period of time thereafter.

Barrera-Navidad was born in El Salvador while less information is known about the other alleged rapist, Palacios-Amaya. ICE reports that a "final order of removal" was issued for Barrera-Navidad back in December of 2016. In 2014, authorities removed Palacios-Amaya from the U.S. but he returned at a later date.

Yesterday, WMAL’s Larry O’Connor interviewed Kevin Lewis, a news hound form WJLA, who broke this story. Lewis tells O’Connor that Montgomery County has a "don’t ask, don’t tell" policy on immigration status and that County Executive Marc Elrich issued an executive order prohibiting any county employee from inquiring into the immigration status of any resident. Lewis also said that jail officials are not only forbidden from calling ICE officials regarding illegal alien inmates but also that ICE is forbidden from even entering the jail. There is no way of knowing whether these two monsters could have been removed from the U.S. before they raped this little girl.

Baltimore teachers call for donated fans, district resists
[APNEWS] Baltimore’s teacher union is calling for fans to be donated to schools as sweltering heat pushes classroom temperatures into the hundreds, but the district says electrical infrastructure may not be equipped to handle it.

The Baltimore Sun reports the union hopes to hand out 500 fans in response to a lack of functional air-conditioning in city schools, some of which have none at all.

But Baltimore Schools Chief Operations Officer Lynette Washington is warning against it, saying the buildings don’t have the electrical load to withstand it.

The union is pushing back. President Diamonté Brown is quoted by the paper as responding: "If you’re so concerned about the electricity being overloaded, then fix it."

The paper reports the district has an almost $3 billion maintenance backlog from decades of underfunding.

Bilawal raises doubts over govt’s sincerity with Kashmir cause
[DAWN] Raising doubts over government’s sincerity with the Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
cause, Pakistain Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has said the government is "not supporting the Kashmiris in an effective way".

Speaking at a presser on Tuesday, he said the government’s decision "not to move the United Nations
...an organization which on balance has done more bad than good, with the good not done well and the bad done thoroughly...
Security Council" on the Kashmir issue and sending Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Wormtongue Qureshi
...a Pak political shape-changer. He is undistinguished except for his habit of periodically needing to have his lips reattached...
to Azad Jammu and Kashmir (on Eid day) in place of PM Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who ain't the brightest knife in the national drawer...
had exposed its "insincerity" with the Kashmir cause.

The PPP chief said Indian PM Narendra Modi and PM Khan were on the same page as both were bent upon tyrannising people. "Modi is committing oppression and tyranny in Kashmir while Imran Khan is doing so against the opposition in Pakistain."

Pakistain would have to send a clear message to the Kashmiris that every Pak was with them at this difficult time and the nation was ready to go to war if needed for the Kashmir cause, he said.

He expressed concern over the foreign minister’s recent remarks that many countries would not support Pakistain over the Kashmir issue in the UN Security Council. "We should not stop ourselves from filing an application in the UN Security Council by assuming that there will be some opposition in the world body."

Police officials allegedly caught burying torture victim
[DAWN] A man allegedly picked up by the police from his place of work two weeks ago was found murdered in the fields of Guliana on the second day of Eidul Azha, leading to the registration of a murder case against a sub-inspector and others on Tuesday.

The accused sub-inspector has been suspended following the registration of the case, but has yet to be arrested.

Saddar Division Superintendent of Police (SP) Rai Mazhar Iqbal told Dawn that no arrests have been made in connection with the murder so far. He claimed the investigation into the case will be carried out "purely on merit" and whoever is found guilty will be treated according to the law. He reiterated: "Investigation will be conducted on merit, merit and purely on merit."

The initial post-mortem report suggests that the victim was tortured.

In his FIR, the victim’s brother, Chehari resident Ghulam Abbas said that on July 27, four people in police uniforms led by a sub-inspector came to his home and the sub-inspector introduced himself as a station house officer.

He said the officials were travelling in four vehicles, one of which was a double-cabin police vehicle.

He said the police entered his home and took him and Sohail Gondal into custody and asked them about the whereabouts of his brother Mohammad Ilyas. Ilyas worked as a tractor driver for Shaukat Ali.

He said they accompanied the police to Shaukat Ali’s home in Mandra at dawn and found Ilyas before he started work. Ilyas was taken into custody by the sub-inspector and driven away in a private car.

Mr Abbas said that when he asked what crime his brother committed, the sub-inspector told him his brother was involved in a car deal. He said that despite their efforts they could not find any information on his brother because the police had taken him to Gujar Khan.

He said that on Tuesday, they were informed that the police had taken Ilyas’ body to the Gujar Khan Tehsil Headquarters Hospital and were preparing to bury him after declaring him an ’unclaimed body’.

He claimed that his brother’s tortured body was left in a deserted area on Guliana Road on Monday night, and Tuesday morning the sub-inspector and other police officials were preparing to bury the body as an unidentified individual.

He said he reached the site where they allegedly planned to bury his brother after he learned of the plan.

Mr Abbas said that when he saw his brother’s body, he found that he had been tortured. He then told police high-ups that his brother was illegally detained and tortured to death by police, after which a murder case was registered against the police officials.

Local residents and the victim’s relatives later blocked the G.T. Road to protest the police’s actions.

Station House Officer Chaudhry Ilyas said he was only posted to his office a couple of days ago, and the victim’s detention and custody was not in the notice of the cop shoppe.

He said the accused sub-inspector may have kept the victim at a personal location, adding that an FIR has been registered against him and unidentified accomplices.

He said the accused official beat feet from the graveyard and raids are being carried out to apprehend him.

Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Deputy Inspector General of Police Mohammad Faisal Rana took notice of the body found in the jurisdiction of the Gujar Khan cop shoppe whose heirs have claimed the victim died under police violence.

The CPO said that a case may be filed after obtaining a written application from the heirs of the dear departed.

A case was registered under section 302/34 with the Gujar Khan police.

[Defense One] Weaponizing Biotech: How China’s Military Is Preparing for a ‘New Domain of Warfare’

Under Beijing's civil-military fusion strategy, the PLA is sponsoring research on gene editing, human performance enhancement, and more.

The PLA’s keen interest is reflected in strategic writings and research that argue that advances in biology are contributing to changing the form or character (形态) of conflict. For example:

In 2010’s War for Biological Dominance (制生权战争), Guo Jiwei (郭继卫), a professor with the Third Military Medical University, emphasizes the impact of biology on future warfare.

In 2015, then-president of the Academy of Military Medical Sciences He Fuchu (贺福初) argued that biotechnology will become the new “strategic commanding heights” of national defense, from biomaterials to “brain control” weapons. Maj. Gen. He has since become the vice president of the Academy of Military Sciences, which leads China’s military science enterprise.

Biology is among seven “new domains of warfare” discussed in a 2017 book by Zhang Shibo (张仕波), a retired general and former president of the National Defense University, who concludes: “Modern biotechnology development is gradually showing strong signs characteristic of an offensive capability,” including the possibility that “specific ethnic genetic attacks” (特定种族基因攻击) could be employed.

The 2017 edition of Science of Military Strategy (战略学), a textbook published by the PLA’s National Defense University that is considered to be relatively authoritative, debuted a section about biology as a domain of military struggle, similarly mentioning the potential for new kinds of biological warfare to include “specific ethnic genetic attacks.”

Aden and the battle on Eid’s eve
[ARABNEWS] Amid the blessings of Eid, the emotional behavior of Yemen

’s Southern Transitional Council (STC) almost resulted in a tragedy that would have lasted for years to come. The council came close to destroying recent achievements in the country and all but ruined its political project of independence from Sanaa in the future ‐ a goal that cannot be achieved by defiance, fueling enmity and creating chaos.

The battle on Eid’s eve erupted following two attacks on Thursday when an al-Qaeda suicide boom-mobileing on a cop shoppe killed 13 people and a Iran's Houthi sock puppets

Democrats tagging Trump as white supremacist a losing strategy
Thank goodness for that.
[WASHINGTONTIMES] Desperate Democrats have apparently decided that the way to win in 2020 is to paint President Trump as a racist, perhaps even a hood-wearing, torch-carrying grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan.

The Democrats appeared ready to thunder to Election Day with a "Russia, Russia, Russia" war chant, but former special counsel Robert Mueller wee-weed all over that plan when he declared that neither Mr. Trump nor his campaign colluded with the Kremlin to alter the outcome of the 2016 election.

Now they’re putting all their little white eggs in the big racist basket.

If You're Not Grateful To The United States, Why Are You Here?
[The Federalist] Earlier this month, the Washington Post featured an op-ed entitled "I am an uppity immigrant. Don’t expect me to be ’grateful,’" by New York University professor Suketu Mehta, an author who recently published a book arguing that "immigration is a form of reparations" for past American crimes.

In the article, Mehta accuses America of stealing "the futures of the people who are now arriving at its borders," of causing many immigrants "to move in the first place," and of "despoil[ing] their homelands and mak[ing] them unsafe and unlivable." He censures the West for "despoil[ing] country after country through colonialism, illegal wars, rapacious corporations and unchecked carbon emissions."

Mehta asserts, for such reasons, that he’s "entitled" to live in the United States. Yet a few brief historical reflections will demonstrate that immigration as reparations is a bit more complicated than Mehta lets on. Moreover, no one, whether first-generation immigrants or direct descendants of voyagers on the Mayflower, deserves to be here. Being American is a gift for which every citizen should be inordinately grateful.

#3  I know several LEGAL immigrants who work their arses off. A couple of the LEGAL immigrants have businesses that create jobs. I know one American born businessman whose wife is a LEGAL immigrant who is the one that makes his business work. Without her, his business would not succeed. She runs his office so well that when the IRS audited him, they gave her 5 stars.

Everyone of these immigrants have one thing in common, they would fire "Mehta" in a heartbeat.

#4  Suketu Mehta. Indian. America never stole from India. If anything they were responsible for quickly ending the second world war after which the brits decided to leave.

Asshole. I hate these opportunistic bastards, thankless f↺ckers given residence in the west and trying to kiss ass for whomever appears to be have more influence, with clearly hypocritical rhetoric. All they want is better prospects, a promotion, or sometimes they're just addicted to invitations. Often, a modicum of false respect will earn you their eternal devotion.

These people are rightly called 'presstitutes' in India.

India-Pakistan
OIC expresses concern over India's denial of Kashmiris' religious rights
[DAWN] The General Secretariat of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Wednesday expressed concern over the curtailment of religious freedoms of Moslems in Indian-occupied Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
, terming it a "serious violation of international human rights
...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions...
law".

It denounced the "complete lockdown" imposed by Indian forces in Indian Kashmire even on the occasion of Eidul Azha, when Moslems in the region were prevented from participating in a religious congregation.

"Denial of religious rights constitutes a serious violation of international human rights law and is an affront to Moslems across the world," a tweet by the OIC official account said.

#1  No ones religious rights matter except muslims. There fixed that for ya.

#2  Twice every year, these abduls take over every road, public place, park and street for prayers. Everything within a half to two mile radius, depending on their numbers around every major mosque becomes their personal space. And his type of prayer is not prescribed, it's just a "see-how-many-we-be" thing with them.

So this year we passed an ordinance adding the encroachment of roads and public places for religious activities to the law for public nuisance. They had to do their ostrich thing within their homes, rooftops and mosques. We effectively banned islamic collective prayer in public places. Traffic was smoother, no jams and no crime on Eid.

If they are now seen on the road, still making some renegade statement because some motherf↻ckers will yet ice-skate uphill, they are caught and their ass cheeks beaten red.

Is that really so bad ? Are we really evil, unreasonable men ? I mean, come on.

"Here's your rights ! Whine to the OIC, you dog ! Whine !!"

When the islamist decries the state for crushing his rights he's actually implying that the state is pressuring him to abide by laws. The islamist is not a social compact member but an infiltrator, a scavenger who'll become a ravager the moment you empower him.

Arabia
The bitter cost of fighting in Yemen and the urgent need for a united stand
[ARABNEWS] Twelve years ago, when I lived in Aden, protests by the Southern Movement were a regular occurrence ‐ and with equal regularity, they were brutally suppressed. The complaint of the Movement was this: that the unification of Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
in 1990 had been carried out with a promise of parity between North and South, but this had failed to materialize.

When I left Yemen ‐ young, naive and overconfident of my analytical prowess ‐ I predicted a civil war within three years. But, like many, I was thinking about a re-run of the civil war of 1994: a north-south clash over the steamrollering of the promises made four years earlier. The South lost that one, and northern dominance of the economy and government of Yemen grew apace.

3 Iraqi Refugees Charged in Germany over Bomb Attack Plot
[AAWSAT] German federal prosecutors said they have charged three Iraqi refugees with planning an Death Eater bombing.

Prosecutors said Wednesday Shahin F. and Hersh F. are accused of preparing an act of violence and Sarkawt N. of aiding them.

Their last names were not given in line with German privacy laws.

Prosecutors said they were planning "an Death Eater attack" but since they have not been linked to a specific organization, they do not face terrorism charges.

They allegedly ordered a detonator from Britannia but never received it after authorities there arrested their contact, said The News Agency that Dare Not be Named.

After being unable to afford an illegal firearm, they decided to carry out an attack using a truck bomb, and Shahin F. began taking driving theory classes.

All were arrested in January after having been under observation for some time.
