South Africa must not sell the family jewels
[IOL] What every country usually guards like the crown jewels is their intellectual property, or IP, especially when it comes to strategic sectors like military or scientific capabilities. South Africa possesses particularly valuable IP when it comes to weapons technology, as our state-owned arms company Denel has highly advanced strategic capabilities in terms of technology which many other countries would like to get their hands on. Saudi Arabia is one of a few countries which has made a bid for joint ventures with Denel so that it can transfer our technological know-how back home and build up their own domestic defence industries.
Rooikat (Red Cat) at graphic.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman’s vision is for the state-owned Saudi Arabia Military Industries (SAMI) to become the 25th largest Defence Company in the world by 2030. While SAMI is currently only able to domestically produce 5% of its own weapons, it plans to increase that to 50% by 2030. To accomplish this goal, SAMI needs IP in order to manufacture its own armaments.

This is problematic not only in terms of our national interest, but because of the fact that selling our IP to a country engaged in a brutal war as well as gross violations of human rights is actually worse than selling them arms. Exporting our mortar bombs, electronic fighting equipment and military software is bad enough, and happens to be in violation of our National Conventional Arms Control Act, but selling our IP so the Saudis can produce highly advanced weaponry is even more problematic. Once a country has our IP in hand, they are then free to develop their own destructive military capabilities without concern for future UN arms embargoes or resolutions calling for an end to conflict causing massive civilian casualties.

On World Toilet Day, attention centers on sanitation crisis
KAMPALA, Uganda (AP) ‐ Campaigners are urging governments and businesses to invest more to improve sanitation in poor countries facing a dangerous shortage of toilets.

The toilet crisis is severe in parts of Africa and Asia battling extreme poverty.

To mark World Toilet Day Monday, the group WaterAid said that one in five primary schools and one in eight secondary schools globally do not have any toilets.

According to the report, an estimated 344 million children in sub-Saharan Africa do not have a decent toilet at home, leaving them vulnerable to diarrhea and other water-borne infections.

Cheryl Hicks, chief executive of the Geneva-based Toilet Board Coalition, told The Associated Press that sanitation entrepreneurs can help reduce the toilet shortage in countries where such infrastructure is too expensive for governments.

Pres. Trump admits error, says he 'should have' commemorated Vets Day at Arlington
[Stars & Stripes] WASHINGTON ‐ President Donald Trump expressed regret in an interview to be aired this weekend for not marking Veterans Day with a visit to Arlington National Cemetery.

"I should have done that," the president told Fox News Sunday in an interview that will air on Sunday. "I was extremely busy on calls for the country."

Trump faced criticism this week for not laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington on Monday, the day the federal government closed to observe Veterans Day.

The president had no public schedule that day.

The decision came days after Trump was criticized for skipping a ceremony at a World War I cemetery in France because of rain. The president did attend and speak at another ceremony, at the Suresnes American Cemetery and Memorial, while in Paris.

"In retrospect, I should have and I did last year and I will virtually every year," Trump said.

Economy
Walmart's Fight Against Amazon Is Picking Up Steam
[Forbes] In Walmart’s bid to take on Amazon, the world’s largest retailer once again showed it's willing to spend and sacrifice profit margin for market share gains and other potential competitive advantages.

Walmart WMT -1.86% on Thursday reported a better-than-expected U.S. comparable sales gain of 3.4% in the quarter that ended October 31 and said it gained market share in categories including food, consumables and "many areas" of general merchandise. On a two-year stacked basis, those sales rose 6.1%, the first time in over 10 years that Walmart said it's seen such a scorecard.

While higher store traffic, driven by demand for fresh food, and a higher average transaction amount contributed to the sales growth, e-commerce also played a critical role. Walmart's U.S. e-commerce sales surged 43%, contributing about 1.4 percentage points to last quarter’s results.

But those gains have come at a cost. Walmart U.S.'s third-quarter gross margin rate narrowed, hurt primarily by its pricing strategy, higher transportation expenses and the increasing mix of e-commerce growth, the company said. Year to date, the company’s total capital spending has increased slightly to $7 billion while year-to-date operating income has declined 0.5% to $15.9 billion.

As Walmart aggressively seeks to use its store fleet as a key weapon against Amazon.com AMZN -1.61%, results at its brick-and-mortar stores are increasingly intertwined with online sales. Walmart said Thursday that it has nearly 2,100 Walmart U.S. locations with grocery pickup services and is on track to offer same-day grocery delivery at approximately 800 stores by the end of the year.

#2  ...Amazon is still being run by a first generation leadership. IBM and GE was/is run by suits. First generation Walmart is now gone. Same thing happening at Southwest Airlines.

Bozo is willing to gamble to take chances. Its his to win or lose. The suits who are well feed are more concerned about their position within the hierarchy and among their social peers.

#3  amazon's advantage is it has lots of non retail income (its rental of cloud cyberspace).

walmart's advantage is it has far more retail outlets (whole foods only has about 500 stores in the US; walmart has about 5000)but this comes with a vulnerability as Bernie and his mob are demanding wage increases for walmart's employees

Forbes Mag: Illegal Immigrants Cost Taxpayers $18.5 Billion/Yr. In Health Care Costs
[The Lid] Illegal immigrants cost the U.S. billions a year in health care costs that the illegals never pay for, a Forbes Mag. report says. And that is even though federal law supposedly prohibits this spending.

Federal law claims that no federal dollars can go to pay for health care for illegals. Unfortunately, this is a smoke screen because literally BILLIONS of our tax dollars go to fund medical care for illegals anyway.

Forbes magazine’s Chris Conover recent ran the numbers and came up with at least $18.5 billion of our tax dollars wasted on health care for illegal immigrants.

"All told, Americans cross-subsidize health care for unauthorized immigrants to the tune of $18.5 billion a year," Connor said adding, "federal taxpayers provided $11.2 billion in subsidized care to unauthorized immigrants in 2016."

Connor went on to describe how federal law is meant to prohibit the use of U.S. tax dollars to fund medical care for illegals. But all those laws are bent into pretzels as our taxes go to support precisely what it is supposed to leave unpaid.

"Specifically, in 2013 (the latest available such figures), America’s uninsured generated $84.9 billion in uncompensated care costs," Connor wrote.

#5  Four months ago, we rushed my wife to the UC Davis Med Center in Sacramento, a huge level III trauma center with a 104 temperature from a chronic blood infection via the paramedics, so she got immediate entry into the 83 bed ER, past the admitting waiting room filled with people. She spent 6 hours on a gurney, in the hallway, next to other patients, including three with police escort cuffed to the bed. Every bed was filled as were the hallways, and more than 1/3 of the conversations around us by family and staff were in Spanish, Chinese and some form of Russian or Arabic. This is the Democrat reality of immigration, paid for by the taxpayers. The ambulance transport alone was $1200.

Oil rises for a fourth day, buoyed by OPEC supply plans
LONDON (Reuters) - Oil rose for a fourth session in a row on Monday, buoyed by the prospect that top exporter Saudi Arabia will push OPEC and maybe Russia to cut supply towards the end of this year.

Brent crude futures were up 24 cents at $67.00 a barrel by 1000 GMT, while U.S. futures rose 38 cents to $56.84.

"Oil prices continued to recover ... (as) the market will be watching closely for the possible impact of a (supply) cut," said Sukrit Vijayakar, director of Indian energy consultancy Trifecta.

The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, led by Saudi Arabia, is pushing for the group and its partners to reduce output by 1 million to 1.4 million barrels per day to prevent a build-up of unused fuel.

"It appears that the market takes a production cut for granted. We’ll see if it is right after the next OPEC meeting on December 6. It is not unreasonable to anticipate stable prices until then," PVM Oil Associates strategist Tamas Varga said.

Populist Italian Mayor Promises to Bulldoze Roma Squatter Camp and Make Them Pay For It
[Breitbart] Populist League mayor of Gallarate Andrea Cassani has promised to tackle the issue of a Roma and Sinti squatter camp saying he would take a bulldozer to it and charge the squatters for the costs.

Cassani said the camp has already cost the city around 50,000 euros and 20,000 in fines due to unpaid water and electricity used by the squatters, Il Giornale reports.

According to Cassani, around 85 individuals live in the makeshift camp. Months before the populist coalition government came to power, the local government tried to improve the situation on the ground by sending city planning department officials who found 25 building code violations and ordered the Roma to fix them.

On returning three months later, the inspectors found that not only had the violations not been addressed but the camp had expanded with Cassani describing it as a "full-blown village."

"Of course, nobody paid for electricity and water," he added.

Earlier this month, League leader Matteo Salvini, who serves as interior minister, passed a migration and security decree which allows for the dismantling of Roma and far-left extremist squatter camps.

Macron in CRISIS: Popularity PLUMMETS as France hit by riots - 400 injured
[Express] EMMANUEL Macron’s popularity has taken another hit, according to a new poll, as the French President was hit by a weekend of chaos over his controversial fuel tax reforms which prompted major riots.

Just a quarter of those polled said they were satisfied with Mr Macron, according to an Ifop survey published in the Journal du Dimanche (JDD) on Sunday.

The French President’s approval rating - the amount of those satisfied by his performance - was down to 25 percent from 29 percent in October, according to the survey of almost 2,000 people between November 9 and 17.

It comes as Mr Macron faced a weekend of violent protests over his fuel tax hikes, with more than 400 people injured and one woman killed in the protests.

Around 288,0000 people took part in the protests by the "Yellow Vests" grassroots campaign, with furious demonstrators blocking roads across France.

Creepy Porn Lawyer Avenatti gets MORE BAD NEWS – he's being EVICTED!!
[RS] In another hilarious turn of events, Michael Avenatti continues to step on rakes and get smacked on his beady eyed face.

The latest is that he’s been evicted from his law offices:

Michael Avenatti’s law firm was ordered to be evicted from its California offices over unpaid rent after the judge dismissed his attempt to block the eviction, the latest setback for the embattled lawyer who was arrested on domestic violence charges earlier this week.

The lawyer and his firm were ordered to vacate a Newport Beach office building after the court asserted its previous ruling that ordered to move out, the Los Angeles Times reported.

His law firm ‐ Eagan Avenatti ‐ was sued after skipping four months of rent payments totaling over $213,000.

Four months!! What a deadbeat.

Noted Vatican Theologian Calls for Examination of Validity of Pope Benedict's XVI's Resignation
[PJ] In an important interview that was overlooked last month, a Vatican theologian said that unless Pope Francis corrects himself and reaffirms Church teaching on morals, the faith, and the sacraments, "the apostasy will deepen and the de facto schism will widen."

To address the current crisis, he suggested that an examination of the "juridical validity" of Pope Benedict’s XVI’s resignation was in order to "overcome problems that today seem insurmountable to us." The theologian consultor to the Congregation for the Causes of Saints was implying that further study of the situation could reveal that Francis is not and has never been a valid pope, but is, in fact, an antipope who could be removed from the papacy, thus nullifying his "insurmountable" errors.

Msgr. Nicola Bux, a former consultor to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith under Benedict XVI, made the remarkable comments in an in-depth interview with Vatican reporter Aldo Maria Valli, the same reporter who interviewed Archbishop Carlo Viganò before he accused the pope of covering up clerical sexual misconduct in a stunning eleven-page letter back in August.

Writing on his own blog, National Catholic Register reporter Edward Pentin says that Bux warned that the current pope is issuing statements that are generating "heresies, schisms, and controversies of various kinds" and that the pontiff should issue a profession of faith to restore unity in the Church.

Kasich Toying with 2020, GOP or Indie, Courting 'Vast Ocean in the Middle'
[PJ] Ohio Gov. John Kasich was on a three-city swing through New Hampshire this week, potentially feeling out a 2020 run for the White House as a Republican, or as an independent.

When CNN asked Kasich during a stop in Manchester, N.H., about how he's calculating his chances, the governor replied, "I don't do math calculations. That's not what I do."
"I mean, all options are on the table. And the question is, ultimately, can I have a very positive impact on the country, and I've got lots of people here who were saying to me just -- I was here yesterday and this guy comes to me and says, I don't care what you do, but wherever you go, I want to be there. I want you to understand that," he said. "And that's a really heartening thing. Terrific."
Kasich told reporters in Concord on Thursday that he's "encouraged every time I come back" to New Hampshire.

[National Review] Do you know what scares an American outdoorsman more than a grizzly bear? Twitter.

In the late summer and early autumn, the hunting world had its eyes on the courts: The Trump administration had issued new guidance that would permit the hunting of brown bears (popularly known as grizzly bears), including in the areas around Yellowstone National Park. A lawsuit supported by animal-rights activists and anti-hunting ideologues was under way to prevent the planned hunt. As the proposed hunting season neared, it was unclear whether anybody would actually be permitted to shoot a brown bear, or whether a judge would put a stop to the hunt.

Sports Afield, the venerable outdoors magazine, went to press with the question unresolved, but issued a remarkable plea to its readers: If, by chance, one of them should have the chance to act on one of the handful of brown-bear licenses that had been issued, and if that hunter should be successful ‐ then, for the sake of the hunting community, please don’t say anything about it on social media, and please, please don’t post any pictures.

Other similar warnings from other hunting advocates have become commonplace ‐ not just in regard to the controversial prospect of grizzly hunting but for hunting in general. "We need to be very, very careful and intentional about what we post and what are in those posts," Adam Janke, the editor of the Journal of Mountain Hunting, told CBC News’s Karen McColl. "The problem is the damage some hunting photos ‐ particularly those featuring a dead animal front and center ‐ can do to the public’s perception of hunting," McColl wrote.

The problem with that line of argument is that dead animals are necessarily front-and-center when it comes to hunting. That is, ultimately, what hunting is about ‐ and hunters should not apologize for that. Hunting is one of the most ancient of organized human undertakings: Hunting, and not that other thing, may very well be the world’s oldest profession. And whether one thinks of it as sport or ritual ‐ or simply as gathering protein ‐ it is part of an honorable tradition, and a pursuit that can be, at its best, profound.

Dem Congressman: Force Gun Owners To Get Rid Of Assault Weapons Or Face Prosecution
[NBC Via Weazsl Zippers] WASHINGTON ‐ A Democratic congressman has proposed outlawing "military-style semiautomatic assault weapons" and forcing existing owners to sell their weapons or face prosecution, a major departure from prior gun control proposals that typically exempt existing firearms.

In a USA Today op-ed entitled "Ban assault weapons, buy them back, go after resisters," Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., argued Thursday that prior proposals to ban assault weapons "would leave millions of assault weapons in our communities for decades to come."

Swalwell proposes that the government should offer up to $1,000 for every weapon covered by a new ban, estimating that it would take $15 billion to buy back roughly 15 million weapons ‐ and "criminally prosecute any who choose to defy [the buyback] by keeping their weapons."

In the past, Democrats and gun safety groups have carefully resisted proposals that could be interpreted as "gun confiscation," a concept gun rights groups have often invoked as part of a slippery slope argument against more modest proposals like universal background checks.

Hollywood Actors Threaten Boycott of Georgia After Kemp Victory
[Daily Caller] Several Hollywood actors have called for a boycott of Georgia’s film industry after Republican Brian Kemp officially won the state’s gubernatorial contest.

The hashtag #boycottgeorgia began to trend after Stacey Abrams, a former Democratic state representative and romance novelist, announced Friday that she would no longer challenge the Georgia Secretary of State’s election results. While Abrams acknowledged Kemp would be the winner of the election, she refused to call her speech a "concession" because a "concession means to acknowledge an action is right, true, or proper."

Before Kemp was certified as the official victor, actors were already threatening to boycott working in Georgia, a state with a large film industry that’s been dubbed the Hollywood of the South.

Canada's brain-injured Cuba diplomats speak out about Ottawa's silence
[The Globe & Mail] For members of the tight-knit community of Canadian diplomats based in Havana, life became terrifying and disorienting last year ‐ and many of them, speaking to the media for the first time, say it has only become more aggravating since mysterious cases of brain injury forced them to return to Canada.

Starting in the spring of 2017, a dozen embassy staff and their family members, including eight adults and four children, almost simultaneously began experiencing symptoms including gushing nosebleeds, ringing in the ears, fits of nausea, dizziness, incapacitating headaches and mental impairment, often striking most intensely in their homes late at night. Those affected represented about a third of the embassy staff.

After a months-long struggle with the embassy to recognize their symptoms, and after receiving a battery of scans and tests, the diplomats were diagnosed by neurologists as having suffered brain injuries similar to a concussion, but without the physical trauma. This is the same "Havana syndrome" that disabled two dozen staff in the recently reopened U.S. embassy in the Cuban capital at around the same time.

A year and a half after the initial symptoms, a group of the diplomats have broken their silence and spoken to The Globe and Mail about their frustrations in seeking treatment and recognition.

While Washington has been outspoken in speculating that those brain injuries were caused by mysterious energy-weapon attacks by some foreign power, the Canadian diplomats have remained an obscure and largely unknown footnote. The U.S. victims have been subject to a very public investigation, while Ottawa has kept its case, and Canada’s multiagency investigation into it, largely quiet for what diplomats believe are strategic and organizational reasons.

According to Evelyn Perez-Verdia, a former office spokeswoman, she saw a version of the letter early Sunday morning. In the letter, 75-year-old Snipes said she wanted to spend more time with her family.

Chris Wallace to Trump: You're seen around the world as a 'beacon for repression'
[The Hill] Fox News anchor Chris Wallace told President Trump that he is viewed as a "beacon for repression around the world" because of his repeated attacks against the press.

Wallace made the statement to Trump while conducting a sit-down interview with the president that was aired on Sunday. In it, Wallace pressed Trump about his rhetoric in regard to the media, noting that most presidents haven't like the coverage of their administrations.

"No president has liked his press coverage ... Nobody called it the enemy of the American people," Wallace said.

"The fake news is the enemy ‐ it’s fake, it’s phony," Trump replied, before claiming that he doesn't mind negative press coverage if he gets something wrong.

But Wallace pushed Trump on the topic, saying that "leaders in authoritarian countries like Russia, China, Venezuela, now repress the media using your words."

After Trump said he can't speak for other countries, Wallace stated that "you’re seen around the world as a beacon for repression."

Iraq
Basra activist dies day after shot by unknown gunmen: report
[Rudaw] A prominent activist in Basra died on Sunday after being shot by unknown button men the day before.

Sheikh Wisam Ghazrawi
...or Sheikh Wessam al-Gharrawi, according to Iraqi News...
was an outspoken activist in the troubled province. He was fatally maimed in front of his house on Saturday.

Ghazrawi had reportedly called on protesters to take up arms in order to force local authorities and the government in Baghdad to implement their demands, Iraq’s Shafaq news reported.

He is alleged to have been one of the people behind the burning of the Iranian consulate in the city as well as offices of other political parties during protests this summer.
That would expain why someone decided he needed to be shot...
Basra was rocked by waves of deadly protests this year driven by public furor over corruption, crumbling infrastructure, contaminated water, and a lack of jobs.

In late September, Suad al-Ali, another activist involved in the protests, was also rubbed out. She had been leading the al-Weed International Organization in Basra. No arrests have been made in the case.

Houthi’s sea mine explosion kills two Yemeni fishermen in Hodeidah
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Two Yemeni fishermen were killed on Sunday evening by a sea mine laid by the pro-Iranian Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
militias in a coast of Hodeidah port city, west of the country.

Local sources said that the kaboom of the sea mine killed two fishermen, three miles from the coast of Haruniya west of the directorate of al-Munira, north of Hodeidah.

Sources in the port of Ibn Abbas named the two fishermen victims as AbdelJaleel Nasser Shibam, 33, and his brother Nasr Nasser Shibam, 17.

Earlier, local news websites reported that the Houthi militias created a series of naval tunnels with the help of Iranian experts near the coast of al-Munira, and that the militias planted sea mines southwest of the coast of the port of Ibn Abbas north of Hodeidah.

The coup militias also fear sea landing in those areas, which will cut its supply lines coming from Hajjah and Saada toward the districts of al-Lahiya and al-Saleef, according to local news websites.

The Houthis laid hundreds of sea mines in Yemen’s territorial waters threatening the international shipping routes in the Red Sea and causing severe damage, killing a number of fishermen and posing a catastrophic danger if washed away by waves toward commercial vessels crossing Bab-el-Mandeb Strait and the Red Sea.

Law enforcers see sub-nationalist groups behind Quaidabad blast
[DAWN] Police have launched investigations into the Quaidabad kaboom, which killed two teenage boys and maimed 12 other persons on Friday night, and law enforcers said that their assessment suggested involvement of sub-nationalist groups in the deadly incident, it emerged on Saturday.

Two teenagers were killed and 12 other persons, mostly vendors, sustained injuries when a bomb planted under a pushcart went off on Friday night near the Quaidabad flyover.

The dead and maimed were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

3 killed, 15 injured in grenade attack on Nirankari Bhawan gurdwara in Amritsar
[DAWN] At least three people were killed and more than a dozen injured in a grenade attack at Nirankari Bhawan gurdwara in Amritsar, Indian media reported on Sunday.

Around 250 followers of the Nirankari spiritual group, who are considered heretics by most Sikhs, had gathered for morning prayers in Amritsar's Adliwal village when two men reportedly arrived on a cycle of violence and threw the explosive at them.

"Three people have died and 15-20 are injured," senior police officer Surinder Pal Singh Parmar told news hounds.

Nirankari followers are at odds with mainstream Sikhs who dominate in Punjab. Unlike most Sikhs, Nirankaris accept the authority of a living guru (spiritual guide). Its members also differ from other Sikhs in their disapproval of the krazed killer brotherhood of the Khalsa.

Eyewitnesses said that the attackers also had assault rifles, The Hindustan Times reported. A witness said the attackers were wearing white and had covered themselves in shawls.

Police officer Dinesh Singh says the two masked men threw the grenade at a prayer hall. It went kaboom! away from the main congregation in the compound, where hundreds of devotees were praying, he said.

The injured are being treated in the Guru Nanak Dev Hospital and Ivy Hospital in Amritsar. Authorities have not yet blamed anyone for the attack.

Nangarhar: smuggled weapons seized, heavy Talib Red Unit casualties

Dozens of weapons, thousands of rounds of ammo seized in Nangarhar

[KhaamaPress] The Afghan security forces have seized dozens of weapons and thousands of rounds of ammo during an operation in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.

The provincial government media office in a statement said the weapons and ammo were seized in Behsud district and two individuals have also been arrested in connection to the transportation of munitions.

The statement further added that 51 various types of weapons and ten thousand rounds of ammo were placed in a transportation truck which was carrying cattle.

According to the provincial government, the arrested individuals originally hail from Kapisa province and had smuggled the weapons and ammo from Pakistan to Bati Kot district some while ago.

The two men were looking to smuggle the weapons and ammo to Kapisa province when they were arrested by the counter-narcotics police forces in Behsud district, the statement added.

The provincial government also added that the detained individuals have confessed to their crime and are in police custody for further investigation.

The anti-government armed militant groups including Taliban have not commented regarding their involvement in the smuggling of the arms.

Taliban’s Red Unit fighters and militants suffer heavy casualties in Nangarhar

[KhaamaPress] The fighters of the Red Unit of Taliban and several other militants suffered casualties during the operations and airstrikes in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.

The 201st Silab Corps of the Afghan Military in the East in a statement said the 02 unit of the Afghan military in Nangarhar conducted operations with the support of the Air Forces in Khogyani district, leaving at least 30 militants dead.

The statement further added at least three Taliban militants also sustained injuries during the same operations and airstrikes.

In the meantime, the 201st Silab Corps said a number of the Red Unit fighters of the Taliban group are also among those killed.

The anti-government armed militant groups including Taliban have not commented regarding the report so far.

Nangarhar has been among the relatively calm provinces in East of Afghanistan but the security situation in some of its remote districts has deteriorated during the recent years.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Mueller Witness Drops Bombshell, Destroys The Credibility Of Entire Investigation
(TeaParty.org) ‐ The left has been in a fresh tizzy over the Mueller investigation this week because they have something new to complain about (other than the blatant lack of anything credible uncovered by the investigation).

Matthew Whitaker’s appointment as interim attorney general has the left demanding recusal, particularly because Whitaker has been clear he believes the Mueller investigation should be put to an end.

Meanwhile, however, the dirty little secret of the Mueller investigation is that there is a much greater conflict of interest within his ranks.

Jeannie Rhee is a prosecutor who has been investigating former Trump lawyer Rodger Stone, who the Mueller team is trying to make the case was in communication with the hackers who gave Hillary Clinton’s email to Wikileaks before the fact.

If this is the case, which hasn’t been proven, Stone was no longer in Trump’s employ at the time he would have had contact with the hackers.

Rhee, on the other hand, has been charged with proving this when she herself has a long history of working with the Clintons.

Tyler Nixon is an attorney for Stone, who appeared before the special counsel earlier this month to testify on Stone’s behalf about why Stone may have had a perfectly legitimate reason to know about the WikiLeaks drops in advance, the Daily Caller reports.

Nixon was floored to discover that Rhee, who questioned him, was herself was once a lawyer for Hillary Clinton and the disreputable Clinton Foundation.

"(Rhee’s involvement) was not disclosed to me prior to my testimony, and I find this to be deeply troubling and certainly Ms. Rhee should be recused or removed from the investigation," Nixon said.

Khalilzad eyes peace agreement with Taliban before presidential elections
The triumph of hope over experience, or merely the kind of thing diplomats are required to say?
]KhaamaPress] The U.S. Special Adviser for Afghanistan Reconciliation Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad eyes a peace agreement with the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
group ahead of presidential elections.

Ambassador Khalilzad cautiously expressed optimisms regarding the reconciliation between the Afghan government and Taliban and said he expects a breakthrough until April of 2019.

In the meantime, informed sources have told Western media outlets that Ambassador Khalilzad met with the Taliban politicians in Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
during separate meetings which lasted for three days.

The meetings were reportedly attended by Taliban leaders Khairullah Khairkhwa and Mohammad Afzal.

According to the reports, the Talibs have demanded the suspension of presidential elections and formation of a transitional government.

Khalilzad arrived in Kabul last week to the meet with the Afghan leaders and officials ahead of his trip to Qatar.

The Office of the President, ARG Palace, said last week that Ambassador Khalilzad briefed President Ghani regarding the ongoing efforts for an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned grinding of the peace processor and his planned trips to certain countries.

Ambassador Khalilzad said he would provide further information once completing his trips to the countries which he had visited earlier.

Gen. Dunford says Taliban ‘are not losing’ in Afghanistan
[KhaamaPress] The Chairman of the JointChiefs of Staff of the U.S. Military General Joseph Dunford has said that the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
’are not losing’ in Afghanistan.

Gen. Joseph Dunford has reportedly made the remarks in a security forum in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Emphasizing that much more needs to be done to bring peace to the war-torn country, Gen. Dunford has said "They are not losing right now, I think that is fair to say."

Gen. Dunford further added "We used the term stalemate a year ago and, relatively speaking, it has not changed much."

He also added that there would never be a "military solution" on its own to bring peace to Afghanistan, the United States and its NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis....
partners are working to leverage military, political and economic pressure to convince the Taliban it is in their interest to negotiate a political solution to the crisis with the government in Kabul.

Gen. Dunford has said "Without going into detail here, we do believe the Taliban know that at some point they do have to reconcile. The key to success is to combine all that pressure to incentivize the Taliban" to negotiate.

This comes as the Afghan government and the international allies of Afghanistan are have stepped up efforts to end the ongoing conflict through reconciliation process.

VIDEO: Ever hear of the Battle of Athens, where armed citizens stopped election fraud? Here is the story. Do We the People have the guts to do it again?
Not in Greece, dear Reader, nor in Ohio, but in the Athens situated in Tennessee did the exciting and pertinent events take place.
[PowderedWigSociety] Considering recent events of what appears to be obvious election fraud in Palm Beach and Broward Counties, Florida, and likely in Arizona, as well, and the mysterious "finding" or fabricating of ballots well after the elections are over, with the appearance of rigging those elections for favored Democrat candidates, I found this near identical history lesson of local officials in eastern Tennessee in 1946 attempting to hijack elections to remain in power and the response of the local citizenry determined to prevent it.

Shortly after the end of WWII, in Athens, Tennessee, located just off I-75, roughly halfway between Knoxville and Chattanooga, the local government was controlled by corrupt Democrat politicians, especially local law enforcement leaders, who appointed like-minded corrupt deputies and cronies to enforce the will of the local Democrat leaders.

Since the Civil War, Athens and McMinn County had elected Republicans exclusively, until 1936 when a local Democrat, Paul Cantrell, from a wealthy family, was elected sheriff. It was believed that Cantrell won the election by having the ballot boxes switched prior to counting.
And thus the crap hit the fan.

Migrants from Iran showing up on England's coast
[Ynet] British authorities say they found nine suspected migrants colonists from Iran after they landed on a coast in southeastern England.

The Home Office said the group landed Sunday at Folkstone, near the town of Dover, on an inflatable boat. It said they will be "processed in line with immigration rules."

The BBC reported that a member of the public found them "clambering up rocks" on the coast.

Border officials reported other incidents involving Iranian migrants colonists on the Dover coast in recent days.

Why Hezbollah Is in Argentina
[Clarion Project] Threat analyses of Middle Eastern terror organizations in Latin American countries are now focusing on why Hezbollah is in Argentina.

On November 15, 2018, two Argentine citizens were arrested in Buenos Aires for their suspected connections to Hezbollah. They were discovered in possession of weapons ‐ including a rifle, shotgun and a number of handguns ‐ as well as "credentials in Arabic and an image of the Hezbollah flag" along with evidence of travel abroad.

Just this summer, Argentina’s government initiated a first strike against a Hezbollah fundraising network in the Triple Frontier (the junction between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil), where one of Hezbollah’s cash cow operations engages in drug trafficking and money laundering.

In 2002, the Bush administration identified the Triple Frontier as a hotbed for terrorism finance activities that included Hezbollah. Counter-terrorism experts have identified the Triple Frontier as the most important Hezbollah base outside of Lebanon.

A key question surrounding this story centers around the question of why we’re seeing Hezbollah-specific activity in Argentina. Part of the answer includes the fact that Argentina hosts a large Lebanese expat community. Hezbollah’s staunch anti-Israel views are culturally welcomed in Argentina, which has its own complex history. Argentina became an anti-Semitic conclave after World War II, when many high ranking Nazis fled Europe and found safe haven in Argentina.

Hezbollah’s interests in Argentina might offer the organization unchallenged space for their deep-seated anti-Semitism, but Hezbollah’s primary equity in the region is establishing funding streams. The U.S. State Departments 2015 and 2016 Country Reports on Terrorism concluded that Hezbollah "continued to maintain a presence in the region [Latin America, extending] ... an important regional nexus of arms, narcotics, pirated goods, human smuggling, counterfeiting, money laundering ‐ all potential funding sources for terrorist organizations."

In June of 2018, the Trump administration increased sanctions against Hezbollah, at the same time as a conflict rose with the Lebanese embassy in Paraguay (part of the Triple Border territories). As Foreign Policy reported in an article titled Lebanon is Protecting Hezbollah’s Cocaine Trade in Latin America, "The Lebanese Embassy in Paraguay attempted to block the extradition of alleged Hezbollah financier."

The question of the hour is where else in Latin America is Hezbollah attempting to gain a stronghold?

Caribbean-Latin America
Anti-caravan protest starts peaceful, turns tense outside Tijuana shelter
[SD Union Trib] What started out as a peaceful march in Tijuana Sunday turned tense as hundreds of Mexican Racists anti-caravan protestors marched to a shelter where a couple thousand Honduran migrants were staying.

Protestors threw beer cans at riot police who blocked their entrance to the shelter as the crowd shouted, "Hondurans get out, we don't want you here," around noon in Tijuana's Zona Norte.

The march against the caravan began at 9 a.m. Sunday. Organizers said the event was not necessarily anti-migrant but anti-invasion.

"Legal migration, yes ‐ illegal invasions, no," said organizer Fidel Ernesto Gonzalez Hernandez. "That is our message."
And ours
More than 1,000 demonstrators showed up. Many wore Mexican soccer jerseys, waved Mexican flags, and sang the Mexican anthem.

Children carried signs that read, "Mexico first," and "No more caravans." The demonstrators' main gripe with the Central American caravan is that the migrants are undocumented, therefore residents do not know how many members of the caravan have criminal records and may pose a threat. .
Go figure!?!
"I'm not of the opinion that all of them should leave," said Tijuana resident Veronica Esquivel, 45. "I think that the criminals should be deported, and the ones who want to stay or go to the United States should do so legally."

Protestors also accused some of the migrants of smoking marijuana, trashing the streets of Tijuana and not being appreciative of the city's generosity.

"They are entitled, they even complain about the food," said Javier Alvarez, 48, of Tijuana.
Future Democrats
On Friday, Mexico's National Migration Institute reported that 2,679 migrants had arrived in Tijuana and 1,500 more were already in Mexicali and planned to go to Tijuana.

On Sunday, President Donald Trump said the situation in Tijuana is already getting out of hand.

"The Mayor of Tijuana, Mexico, just stated that ‘the City is ill-prepared to handle this many migrants, the backlog could last 6 months,' " Trump tweeted Sunday morning. "Likewise, the U.S. is ill-prepared for this invasion, and will not stand for it. They are causing crime and big problems in Mexico. Go home!"

Anti-caravan demonstrators said the situation is already tense. Several said they were worried President Trump might close the border.

"If they close the border because of what the migrants are doing this will become a big problem," said Javier Alvarez, 48, of Tijuana. "It's going to be chaos."

Alvarez added that many people who live in Tijuana work in San Diego and vice versa. Therefore closing the border would have drastic economic consequences.

The protestors also criticized the government's response to the migrant caravan, saying the Mexican government was doing too much and too little.

Too much because more than 53 million people live in poverty in Mexico and resources should be spent on Mexicans, not migrants.

Too little because the government's response has been disorganized and ineffective.

"Why doesn't our government set up a tent city outside Tijuana where they can provide food, shelter, and water to the migrants," said Rafael Lario Juarez, 63, of Tijuana.

The group marched from Tijuana's Zona Rio to the makeshift shelter in a sports complex near the border about 11 a.m.

The original plan was to finish the march outside a government building. But protestors decided to head to the shelter where many of the migrants are staying.

Gonzalez, one of the march organizers, tried to stop the crowd to no avail.

"The march ends here!" he shouted at the marchers. "Don't go to the shelter, that's a provocation."

Men and women carrying signs and Mexican flags walked by Gonzalez.

Some shouted back, "Shut up, we're going to the shelters."
diplomacy
At the shelter, the marchers were met with police barricades. Although some threw beer cans and pushed the police, the march did not turn violent.

Those staying at the shelter were not allowed to leave because of the anti-caravan march.

Iraq
When the revolutionists regret it
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] When asked on a television show about the current situation in Iraq and the state of corruption, which is hindering government formation even as ISIS prowls near the borders, Iraqi member of parliament Izzat Shabandar said: "I would accept a President and a government, even if 70 percent or 60 percent of it is corrupt and infiltrated, over a situation of void that might lead to dire civil war that lasts for a quarter of a century."

"If I had the present awareness before Saddam was toppled, I would have supported my country against the US invasion and let Saddam stay."
The interviewer then asked him: "If this be so, then why did you not accept Saddam Hussein? He was a dictator, why do you accept (what you just said) but reject him?" Shabandar courageously replied: "If I had the present awareness before Saddam was toppled, I would have supported my country against the US invasion and let Saddam stay."

Although I disagree with this politician over many of his views, especially as he belongs to the Shiite Dawa Party, which is equivalent to the Sunni Moslem Brüderbund, I appreciate his candor in that he admitted the truth despite it being so bitter for many revolutionists to accept.

ISLAMIST MOVEMENTS
I definitely believe that what this Iraqi politician has said is what many citizens of Arab countries, who responded to the call of Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
is and the Moslem Brüderbund who used to call their movement ’The Arab Spring,’ are currently saying. Experience is the best evidence. All those who were fooled by ideologies and slogans and who were swept away by revolutionary actions are now regretting it as security and stability are the state’s real fortune. When Arab citizens do not care about this wealth, their inevitable fate would be what is happening now in Iraq, Syria, Libya and Yemen.

Iraqi Arab citizens should never forget that those who led bloody revolutions in these countries are the Islamists who used religion and made it a pragmatic tool. Here you can witness the consequences of these revolutions; what these false religious appearances had done to their countries ‐ bloody civil wars, that just when they are about to calm down, they are ignited again and so on.

As for us in Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
and the Gulf, the withdrawal of Islamist movements and exposure of their true faces is reassuring. Their repeated attempts to ignite tensions again collude with peoples’ support for their leadership. It is also crystal clear that many of their traitorous figures who had worn false religious appearances have raised the white flag as they suddenly realized what happened to those whose stability and security were harmed by what was falsely called the ’Arab Spring’. This ’Arab Spring’ has exposed their schemes and made people realize what the true goals are.

Such Islamist movements are receding now. Years ago, I had expected this end for the Islamist movement; however, this so-called Arab Spring was tantamount to the high price which Arab people had to pay to get rid of these devilish movements that deceive people in the name of Islam.

Arabia
Yemen’s army recaptures ‘Ahem Triangle’ in Hajjah
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Yemeni national army said its forces completed the recapturing and secured the Ahem Triangle in Hajjah Governorate in north-western Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
and completed its control of the remaining villages adjacent to the triangle, following a military operation by the army backed by the Arab coalition supporting legitimacy in Yemen against the pro-Iranian Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
militias.

Army forces took control of several villages east and north of the triangle and sources said the fighting was continuing to recapture the remaining villages.

The coalition fighter jets launched several air raids on Houthi gatherings and reinforcements resulting in the destruction of a military vehicle carrying a number of militias’ elements, according to the army media office.

The importance of the Ahem Triangle is that it connects the districts of Harad and Medi in the north, Hiran in the south, and the directorates of Hajour, MestABa and Bakil al-Meer in the east, which is a vital artery connecting the governorates of Saada and Amran with Harad, Medi and Hodeidah.

The controlling of this strategic triangle by the Yemeni national army is considered a major military blow to the Houthis in Hodeidah, since it is no less important than cutting the road between Sanaa and Hodeidah.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Special forces were apparently trying to install spying gear in Gaza, Hamas says
[IsraelTimes] Terror group claims IDF soldiers were seeking to boost Israel’s eavesdropping capabilities, in incident that touched off an intense round of fighting

Israeli special forces who entered the Gazoo Strip early last week appeared to have been attempting to install equipment that would make it easier for Israel to eavesdrop on Paleostinians in the coastal enclave, a Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw, official said.

Last Sunday, a group of Israeli soldiers was discovered while deep in southern Gazoo, in an operation that went awry, resulting in a shootout
that left one senior IDF officer and seven Paleostinian fighters dead, touching off a day of fierce rocket fire from the Strip and retaliatory Israeli Arclight airstrikes.

"The Zionist enemy tried to achieve a major security breakthrough. It apparently tried to install equipment and build something that would make it easy for it to kill, hack and abduct," Deputy Hamas chief in Gazoo Khalil al-Hayya told the Hamas-affiliated al-Aqsa TV on Saturday.

"To make it easy for them to do anything. To make it easy to eavesdrop on all parts of the Paleostinian people," he said. "It possibly could have made it easy for them to discover tunnels and other things."

An IDF spokesperson declined to comment on the allegations by Hamas, an Islamist terror group that seized control of Gazoo from the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
’s Fatah in 2007 and seeks to destroy Israel.

The Israeli special forces entered Gazoo in a civilian vehicle, but members of Hamas’s military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, stopped and questioned them, the Qassam Brigades said in a statement last week.

Shortly thereafter, an armed clash ensued between the Israeli forces and the Paleostinian button men, the statement added.

The Israeli forces fled Gazoo under cover of airstrikes, according to both the IDF and Hamas.

In the armed clash, an Israel lieutenant colonel and seven Paleostinian button men, including a deputy brigade commander in Hamas’s armed wing, were killed.

The US-led coalition denied reports that Arclight airstrikes it carried out in a part of eastern Syria held by the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. group killed dozens of civilians, while opposition activists reported festivities Sunday between government forces and IS in nearby districts.

The coalition said late Saturday that it struck only "legitimate" jihadist targets, and that another 10 airstrikes in the area were not carried out by US-led forces.

IS controls an area in eastern Syria near the Iraqi border where some 15,000 people, including fighters and their families, live. US-backed fighters of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces have been trying to capture the area since September.

Syrian government forces and Iran-backed gunnies have also bombarded the IS-held area in recent weeks, according to opposition activists.

Syrian state media, a war monitor and an IS-linked news agency reported Saturday that coalition airstrikes killed 40 people, mostly women and kiddies.

The coalition said in a statement late Saturday that it conducted 19 strikes in the area starting late Friday in support of ground operations against IS. It said no civilians were present near the targets it struck.

Syria and Russia regularly launch airstrikes against suspected jihadists, and Iraq has carried out cross-border strikes targeting IS.

The Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and Deir Ezzor 24, an activist collective, meanwhile reported festivities Sunday between Syrian government forces and IS in other parts of Deir el-Zour. It said government forces shelled areas controlled by IS in the same region where the US-led coalition reportedly carried out the airstrikes.

Although IS has been mostly defeated in eastern Syria, the bully boyz still have hideouts in the desert from where they launch attacks.

Trump uses derisive nickname for Rep. Adam Schiff in tweet
[KOCO] President Donald Trump is name-calling Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff for saying Matthew Whitaker's appointment as acting attorney general is unconstitutional.

Trump says Schiff shouldn't complain that Whitaker wasn't confirmed by the Senate because neither was special counsel Robert Mueller, who's investigating 2016 election interference and possible ties between Moscow and Trump's campaign.

The Justice Department appoints special counsels.

Critics contend Trump illegally sidestepped procedure by appointing Whitaker over Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who's been confirmed.

Trump's tweet calls Schiff "little Adam Schitt."
Somebody please tell me this.. did.. not.. happen.. but it did - checked his Twitter page (https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/).

#1  Dam right it happened snowflake. Politics is now a street fight and a war zone which started with the Dims Obama characterizing the selection of Sarah Palin as his opponent's running mate as puting lipstick on a pig.

And continued with the Dims gleefully shoving sch!tt down our throats every chance they could. That is why we hired The Don.

The Dim resistance are going to resist, lie, cheat and steal and try to destroy every thing we do and if your puny little ears can't handle the well deserved trash talk the Dims are finally, deservedly getting in this street fight against their antifa brown shirts, and thier pron stars, and thier Mad Maxines followers getting in your face at the restuarant or press conference then go melt somewhere else!

Fixed it for ya - your welcome.

Two comments - this is a calculated lob into the other bunker; and...

I will do my best not to insult you, but are you fucking serious with this comment? Have you taken into consideration how many times Trump has done this sort of thing already via Twitter as well as the percentage of people that will remember this one particular tweet eleven months from now? Your political analysis sucks big hairy donkey balls, so just stop before embarrassing yourself any further.

#7  Mrs. Uluque will NOT like this and I think many of her friends and relatives will not like it either. You can fight hard without resorting to profanity. You can always find a better, more effective way to express yourself if you think first before you resort to dirty words.

Yes, I believe Trump made a mistake here. I think Schifferbrains is a much better term for the honorable gentleman from California.

#8  If THIS is what causes you to abandon President Trump, you never actually supported him in the first place. Seriously, you didn't. How many times and how many vulgarities have we heard from the Left? How many insults and out-right lies?

But no, calling someone a bad word through wordplay on their names is the final straw! We've tried the civility angle, Bush 43 was that. I for one remember the depictions of him as a literal monkey. How soon we forget.

So I repeat, if this causes you to stop supporting, you never supported in the first place. You may have Hated Hillary more(easy to do), but you didn't support.

#14  Civility is when someone calls you a Racist™ and you are supposed to smile and take the hit. Anecdotally, an ex-friend looked me in the eye and said: "The only reason I can think of not voting for Obama is racism!"
Posted by: magpie || 11/19/2018 15:34 Comments || Top||

#15  Well, that escalated quickly.

Those of us who have worked intimately with elections recognize that they are increasingly won or lost at the fringes. Notable exceptions include the charismatic charlatan (Barack Obama) and the demonstrably incompetant (Bruce Rauner). Many on the fringes look at seemingly small things to influence their vote. And the "Schitt"-thing is a small thing mirrored. Worse, this scatalogical twist of a name demonstrates conclusively that he, Schiff, is exciting Trump synapses, this to his, Schiffs, delight.

I am a Trump supporter, but have no problem voicing my concern when he appears to "step in it." Yes, I've been in the company of corporate swells who use idiom and adjective for emphasis, but they (at least should) know better than to make such utterances in a press release, at a shareholders meeting or a company-sponsored "mixer." It's a bad look.

In closing, I still support Mr. Trump, but he has made my job of keeping some in the fold harder.

To the ad hominem attack of calling me a "snowflake," I'd like to see you walk a mile in my shoes, but doubt you'd make it to the mailbox.

#16  I don't think anyone is calling you a snowflake, Anomalous.

We're pointing out that, should someone not support President Trump because of this single tweet, letting everything else pass from the other side, that they never truly supported the President. It's pointing out a lack of ability to draw moral equivalencies that lead to the exposure of ones inner beliefs.

I think people here know what snowflakes are. Supporting yet still disagreeing with something the President did/said is not it. Lord knows I disagreed with GWB every 3-6 months for something.

#17  Thanks Charles, but please see comment #1, fourth word ^ context. And I doubt I'll be getting a Christmas Card from Raj.

"Schitt" will not sway the core, but, again, the goodwill of the fringes are what are needed to successfully cross the finish line in first place. And I'm certain this tweet will be back in, say, 18 months-or-so as "additional proof positive" that Mr. Trump is unbalanced / crude / unsuitable, etc. Should it be seen as such? No. Will it? Ask a few "undecideds" what they think of it.

Btw, the .jpg was snark.

Where are Libya’s billions under Qaddafi abroad and who benefits from them?
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The release by Belgium of the frozen Libyan funds interest has provided more confirmations about the presence of a real threat to Libyan funds frozen abroad, either from the host countries or by the Libyan Investment Corporation, the entity that manages the assets.

The Libya’s sovereign wealth fund said five EU countries paid out money from frozen accounts in Europe
...also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
that once belonged to Muammar Qadaffy
...a proud Arab institution for 42 years, now among the dear departed, though not the dearest...
despite international sanctions, according to POLITICO.

Questions about mystery payments from the Libyan dictator’s supposedly frozen billions in Europe have already become a hot political issue in Belgium, because significant sums flowed out of accounts in Brussels.

The LIA said in an emailed statement to POLITICO that Belgium’s government was not alone in taking advantage of a loophole by paying out the interest earned on the frozen money.

"In many jurisdictions (the UK, Belgium, Germany, Italia and Luxembourg for example) the interest and dividends on holdings frozen under the UN sanctions are not frozen," the LIA said through its London-based PR agency Maitland.

Clashes between pro-Turkish rebels kill 11 in Syria’s Afrin
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Clashes on Sunday between Ottoman Turkish-backed rebel factions vying for influence in the northern Syrian town of Afrin left 11 fighters dead, a war monitor said.

Ottoman Turkish troops and allied rebel groups seized the Afrin region from Kurdish forces in March after a two-month air and ground offensive.

The Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said fighting in several districts "had left 11 dead and 27 maimed" after erupting on Saturday.

Ottoman Turkish troops stationed in the town imposed a curfew on civilians from Saturday evening in a bid to avoid bloodshed, the Observatory said.

The festivities pitched the majority of the pro-Ankara rebels against a group of some 200 fighters who were accused of "disobeying" Ottoman Turkish forces and "committing abuses", the monitor said.

The main alliance of Ottoman Turkish-backed rebels in Afrin wrote on Twitter that current operations were aimed at "pursuing outlaw gangs".

Since Ottoman Turkish troops and pro-Ankara Arab rebels captured the town from the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), the United Nations

groups, including Amnesia Amnesty International, have documented widespread abuses.

Half of the enclave’s 320,000 residents fled, according to a report by the UN Commission of Inquiry, and most are unable to return.

Iraq
In Iraq, bloody tribal custom now classed as ‘terrorism’
[Rudaw] A bloody, age-old custom used by Iraq’s powerful tribes to mete out justice has come under fire, with authorities classifying it as a "terrorist act" punishable by death.

For centuries, Iraqi clans have used their own system to resolve disputes, with tribal dignitaries bringing together opposing sides to mediate in de facto "hearings." If one side failed to attend such a meeting, the rival clan would fire on the absentee’s home or that of fellow rustics, a practice known as the "degga ashairiya" or "tribal warning".

But in an age when Iraq’s vast rural areas and built-up cities alike are flooded with weapons outside state control, the "degga" may be deadlier than ever. A recent dispute between two young men in a tea shop in the capital’s eastern district of Sadr City escalated to near-fatal proportions, leaving a 40-year-old policeman with a broken hip and severely damaged abdomen.

Where to Go from Here
[OpsLens] The Republican Party is at a crossroads. How’s that for a trite opening?

The midterms obviously weren’t as bad as the press or nervous types in the GOP said they were. Gained in the Senate. Lost normal amounts in the House for a first midterm in a Republican administration. Won most of the marquee races. On good track to re-election. Not bad.

The economy is humming, foreign foes are worried, and allies privately respect us. Though they yelp against the president like purse poodles for domestic political profit. Black and Latin unemployment is at an all-time low and we should be able to make political hay of it. Trade is perceived to be fairer than in the recent past, as many in the nation prefer a trade negotiator that has actual business acumen, not politicians whose only experience in this regard is trading their votes for campaign contributions. Not bad at all.

Immigration cuts our way, as the Dem blind spot to it plays badly with a national audience. But beware: their real immigration goal has little to do with the other forty-nine states. It is about Texas. If they turn that blue through immigration and fraudulent voting ‐and they tried hard this last bout‐ the GOP will never hold the White House in the foreseeable future. It is the ultimate domino.

So, with serious caveats, it’s a GOP-leaning landscape.

Falcons Intelligence Cell forces arrest 6 terrorists in Mosul
djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
(IraqiNews.com) The Falcons Intelligence Cell forces announced, on Sunday, arresting gunnies involved in the bombing incident that hit the city of Mosul, ten days ago, leaving many causalities.

The cell revealed in a statement that the remaining ISIS holy warriors are calling the terrorist to pour their hatred on the innocent civilians in the free city of Mosul, where the ISIS holy warriors detonated a boom-mobile, on the first week of November, in the new Mosul area, leaving a number of casualties.

The statement added that the heroes of the Falcons Intelligence cell managed, within a series of pre-emptive intelligence operations, against the remaining ISIS members in Mosul, to halt the destructive operations of those gunnies in some areas in the city of Mosul, and dismantled 3 terrorist cells, killing some of them and placed in durance vile

46 others.

Furthermore, that statement added that after the recent bombing in Mosul, the Falcons Intelligence Cell followed up the threads of this crime, and managed to monitor the gunnies and arrested them, while pointed out the information about the gunnies will be announced later.

It is noteworthy that three persons were killed while nine others were maimed on Thursday 8 November 2018, in a booby-trapped vehicle blast, near one of the restaurants, in the right coast of the city of Mosul.
