George Takei Is The Latest Hollywood Perv To Be 'Outed'
A real shocking revelation, this one...
[HolleywoodRporter] The 'Star Trek' icon denies a claim by Scott R. Brunton, who says he was groped at the actor's Los Angeles condo.

A former model and actor is accusing Star Trek icon George Takei of sexual assault in 1981. The accuser, Scott R. Brunton, who was 23 at the time of the alleged incident, claims that Takei took advantage of him when he was most vulnerable.

"This happened a long time ago, but I have never forgotten it," Brunton tells The Hollywood Reporter in an interview. "It is one of those stories you tell with a group of people when people are recounting bizarre instances in their lives, this always comes up. I have been telling it for years, but I am suddenly very nervous telling it."

Central NY church after Texas shooting: 'We are NOT a gun-free zone'
[NYup.com] A church in Central New York has responded to the Texas church shooting by inviting its members to bring their guns to services.

"We are not a gun-free zone," a sign outside the Lighthouse Mexico Church of God in Oswego County says. The church's official website also includes a scrolling message that says "We are NOT a 'Gun free zone'- we protect our people!"

Pastor Ronald Russell tells Spectrum News that his church, located on S. Jefferson Street in Mexico, N.Y., has allowed congregants to openly carry guns since a shooting at a South Carolina church in 2015. Dylann Roof, a self-identified white supremacist, was convicted last year of killing nine black church members at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, S.C.

Russell says he put the open-carry sign up this week after a Texas gunman killed 26 people and injured 20 at the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs on Sunday. Police say Devin Patrick Kelley's attack was likely motivated by a "domestic situation" with his second wife's in-laws, but the deadly incident has raised questions of gun control across America.

"Times are changing," Russell told Spectrum News on Thursday. "It's not the congregation, per se, but the leadership. People say 'well, pastor, you're talking about killing some,' and I say 'well, if I don't protect my people, I'm being complicit.' A shooting here, that's not going to happen."

Federal Appeals Court Judge discovers why voter ID
[KRQE] A Federal Appeals Court Judge was left angry and confused when he tried to do his civic duty earlier this week in Albuquerque. He was turned away because, apparently, someone had already used his name to vote.

It all started on Wednesday.

“There was no one there to vote so I thought this was going to go really quickly,” said Judge Harris Hartz.

Judge Hartz showed up to the city’s Record Center on 6th and Menaul with his driver’s license, to vote early in the mayor’s race.

What he thought would be a quick trip turned into an ordeal.

“They’re getting some report of activity in my account. I don’t remember the language they used. I said ‘What does that mean?’ They said somebody voted,” said Judge Hartz. “They reported to me that I had voted at City Hall at 4:15, about an hour and fifteen minutes earlier,” he continued.

Judge Hartz, of course, knew was impossible.

“I knew I hadn’t voted so I thought there was this foul-up, and that can happen,” said Judge Hartz.

On top of that, Judge Hartz says he has people to confirm he was not at City Hall during that time.

“I was in my office. We have a small office. I have four law clerks. I have a judicial assistant and I was working with them,” said Judge Hartz.

The City Clerk’s Office tells News 13 they met with Judge Hartz Friday morning to review the signed ballot, and could not make out the name.

“It was not my signature. It wasn’t close to my signature and they gave me provisional ballot,” said Judge Hartz.

The Clerk’s Office also says this has never happened to them before. Having gone through the experience, Judge Hartz hopes they have learned their lesson.

“It shouldn’t happen and if it does happen, there ought to be a way to get a provisional ballot so you don’t have to spend hours, as I have, trying to get it straightened out,” said Judge Hartz.

It is not clear if someone used an ID and impersonated the judge, if someone accidentally printed the wrong ballot, or if they checked off the wrong name.

Rod Rosenstein, deputy AG, slams encrypted cellphone makers following Texas church shooting
[Wash Times] Rod Rosenstein, President Trump’s deputy attorney general, on Thursday referenced the recent mass shooting at a Texas church as an example of why American cellphone manufacturers should stop selling mobile devices incapable of being accessed by authorities.

A frequent critic of what he calls "warrant-proof encryption," Mr. Rosenstein cited the Sutherland Springs First Baptist Church massacre as the FBI wrestles with recovering data from a cellphone belonging to Devin Kelley, the 26-year-old Air Force veteran who conducted the killing spree Sunday and then committed suicide, according to police.

"The FBI has the suspect’s phone, but cannot access the data inside because of encryption," Mr. Rosenstein said Thursday during a private event, as relayed by the Justice Department.
"When you shoot dozens of innocent American citizens, we want law enforcement to investigate your communications and stored data. We expect police and prosecutors to investigate such horrendous crimes. There are things that we need to know," Mr. Rosenstein said.

Kelley’s phone could potentially help officials attempting to find a motive for the massacre, but the device is encrypted and can’t be accessed by investigators, the head of FBI’s San Francisco first stated during a press conference Tuesday.

Chief Warrant Officer 2 Bobby Zizelman proves chivalry is not dead
[Mail] He's an officer and a gentleman! Meet U.S. Army chopper pilot Bobby Zizelman who took pity on Trump spokeswoman Sarah Sanders and gave her his coat on a chilly Korea day.

When President Donald Trump tried to visit Korea's demilitarized zone on Wednesday during his 12-day trip through Asia, a U.S. Army Ranger made headlines by lending White House press secretary Sarah Sanders his camouflage jacket on a chilly morning.

Now the Army has exclusively shared photos of the new face of American chivalry with DailyMail.com.

Meet Chief Warrant Officer 2 Bobby Zizelman, a helicopter test pilot who stepped in to warm Sanders up on the tarmac at U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan.

Mark Levin Exposes WaPo Hit Piece on Judge Moore As Complete Fabrication
[Gateway Pundit] Mark Levin told his audience on Thursday this whole thing doesn’t smell right. This story was planted and perfectly timed in their hopes to doom Moore’s campaign.

According to the Washington Post:
While reporting a story in Alabama about supporters of Moore’s Senate campaign, a Post reporter heard that Moore allegedly had sought relationships with teenage girls. Over the ensuing three weeks, two Post reporters contacted and interviewed the four women. All were initially reluctant to speak publicly but chose to do so after multiple interviews, saying they thought it was important for people to know about their interactions with Moore. The women say they don’t know one another.

Mark asked his audience: How did the WaPo know there were four women, who they were, and how to contact them?... A Washington Post reporter just happens to be in Alabama talking to Roy Moore supporters... And he happens to hear what no one has reported in 38 years, no political opponents ‐ No one... That Roy Moore, 38 years ago, made advances to teenage girls. Four of them. Now, the four girls do not know each other, they have never met. Yet the person who the Post reporter happened to run into and speak to, the person who supposedly told the reporter the story about the four girls, happened to know all four girls and how to contact them?
Seriously?

The Post was fed this information by someone or some group.

Also, Mitch McConnell is asking Roy Moore to step aside if he is guilty of the accusations against him. But McConnell says NOTHING about Bob Menendez a sitting U.S. Senator who is on trial for corruption charges and lewd behavior with minors? Why is it that Republicans don’t demand his resignation? Isn’t it amazing that Republicans knew what to say right on cue? They are ready to recruit Luther Strange as a write-in guy.
Emphasis added

#3  The part about Menendez is interesting. I mean, when Republicans get caught in this type of scandal they always resign but Democrats usually shrug it off.
Posted by: Abu Uluque || 11/11/2017 10:44 Comments || Top||

#4  I read the Washington Post article and saw that in three of the 4 cases Moore kissed 3 teenage girls. Nothing more. 38 years ago. EVEN IF HE DID IT, so what?

The last case is more serious in that he removed her blouse. She was 18 (aka a consenting adult).

Does anyone think this is worse than what the Rapist in Chief has done? How about the KKK senator from West Virginia?

It is also interesting that it is now too late to change the ballot in Alabama. Moore will still be the Republican candidate if he resigns. The WAPO knew this weeks ago and waited till they could cause the most damage to the Republiucans.

Occidental Professor Warns: Be 'Suspicious of Males Who Strongly Identify as Men'
[PJ] In an article for Public Books, Lisa Wade, a sociology professor at Occidental College (which, I’m embarrassed to say, is my alma mater) recently wrote that "we should reject the idea that men have a psychic need to distinguish themselves from women." Why? Because "masculinity is toxic." In fact, we should be "suspicious of males who strongly identify as men."

Frankly, I’d be more suspicious of males who identified as something other than males like, say, toasters, or unicorns, or their great-aunt Mildred’s long-lost cat. It seems to me that those males would be delusional and therefore far more suspicious than males who actually identified as males. Since that’s what they are. It would at least display a much stronger grasp on reality than our dear friend professor Wade.

Let me break Wade’s theory down for you, because I could see how sane people might have a little trouble following it. Wade believes that there is literally no difference between men and women. And, since there’s no difference between men and women, anything that is seen as being inherently masculine or inherently feminine is actually just a social construct. And (as if that wasn’t crazy enough,) every single thing that is supposedly male is bad. "If we are going to finish the gender revolution," declares Wade, "then, we need to call masculinity out as a hazardous ideology and denounce anyone who chooses to identify with it."

Honestly, I despair for the male college students of America who sit in lecture halls and seminar rooms and have to listen to this garbage. Who don’t know any better than to believe it. Who sign up for classes that promise to help them reduce their own toxic masculinity, because, by virtue of having grown up a man in a gendered world, they are at risk of becoming rapists. Who passionately deny that there are inherent differences between men and women, and feel they must apologize for everything they do, or like, or say, that fits the stereotype of their "assigned" gender.

Alabama ABC Affiliate Can't Find One Voter Who Believes WaPo Report About Roy Moore in Man-on-the-Street Segment
[Breitbart] During a segment that aired on Friday’s broadcast of Birmingham, AL ABC affiliate WBMA 33/40’s 5 p.m. local news, political reporter Lauren Walsh sought out voters in Columbiana, AL to gauge their reactions to the Washington Post report that alleged Republican U.S. Senate hopeful Roy Moore engaged in inappropriate conduct with four teenage girls more than 34 years ago.

None of the respondents according to Walsh told her they believed the Post’s reporting.
But Alabama voter's wishes and their democratically elected representative are irrelevant as the Washington political establishment queues up against the non-establishment candidate.

U.S. soldier in Niger ambush was bound and apparently executed, villagers say
[WAPO] NIAMEY, Niger ‐ The body of Sgt. La David Johnson, one of four U.S. soldiers killed in an ambush by Islamist militants in Niger last month, was found with his arms tied and a gaping wound at the back of his head, according to two villagers, suggesting that he may have been captured and then executed.

Adamou Boubacar, a 23-year-old farmer and trader, said some children tending cattle found the remains of the soldier Oct. 6, two days after the attack outside the remote Niger village of Tongo Tongo, which also left five Nigerien soldiers dead. The children notified him.

When Boubacar went to the location, a bushy area roughly a mile from the ambush site, he saw Johnson’s body lying face down, he said. The back of his head had been smashed by something, possibly a bullet, said Boubacar. The soldier’s wrists were bound with rope, he said, raising the possibility that the militants ‐ whom the Pentagon suspects were affiliated with the Islamic State ‐ seized Johnson during the firefight and held him captive.

The villagers’ accounts come as the Niger operation is under intense scrutiny in the United States, with lawmakers expressing concern that they have received insufficient or conflicting information about what happened. The Pentagon is conducting an investigation into the attack in Niger, where the U.S. military is helping the Nigerien government confront a threat by militants associated with the Islamic State and al-Qaeda.

Boubacar, a resident of Tongo Tongo, said in a phone interview that he informed the village’s chief after seeing Johnson’s body. "His two arms were tied behind his back," he said. The chief called Nigerien military forces, who dispatched troops to retrieve Johnson’s remains.

Professor draws ire for saying students will have to work hard and avoid drinking
[FOX] UK’s Cambridge University physical sciences professor came under fire this week from mental health campaigners and students after he suggested undergraduates will have to work hard and abstain from drinking to pass the course.

Eugene Terentjev draw the fury of students and mental health activists after sending out an email last week to first-year natural sciences undergraduates at Cambridge, telling them the course will be difficult and thus they should refrain from drinking and other social activities if they wish to succeed, according to an email leaked to student-run publication Varsity.

“Physical sciences is a VERY hard subject, which will require ALL of your attention and your FULL brain capacity (and for a large fraction of you, even that will not be quite enough),” Terentjev wrote to the students.

“You can ONLY do well (ie achieve your potential, which rightly or wrongly several people here assumed you have) if you are completely focused, and learn to enjoy the course. People who just TAKE the course, but enjoy their social life, can easily survive in many subjects — but not in this one.”

The White House and Republican politicians have attacked the firm, Fusion GPS, over the dossier compiled by a former British spy that is central to investigations in Congress and by a special counsel into conclusions by US spy agencies that Moscow interfered in the 2016 presidential election and wanted to help Trump win.

The sources told Rooters that the negative information that Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya wanted to give to Republican Trump's campaign at a June 2016 meeting in New York had been dug up by Fusion GPS in an unrelated investigation.

3 suicide bombers killed as Rangers foil 'terror attack' in Rohri
[DAWN] The Sindh Rangers on Friday killed three "jacket wallahs" in Rohri who were planning to target the Bab-e-Karbala Imambargah
...since Pakistain is very religiously correct, Shia Moslems can't call their houses of worship 'mosques,' which are reserved for Sunnis. It's not clear if imambargahs are used for explosives storage like mosques are...
, read a statement issued by the paramilitary force.

The "suspicious men" were signalled to stop by Rangers personnel at a checkpoint. "An exchange of fire took place when the suspicious men tried to escape," read the statement, adding that the three men were killed in the gunfire.

Rangers found suicide jackets on the men, which were diffused with the help of the bomb disposal squad.

Initial investigations revealed that the "turbans were associated with a banned outfit" and their target for the "terror attack" was the Bab-e-Karbala Imambargah. The process to ascertain their identities is underway.

Musharraf announces 'grand alliance' of 23 political parties
[DAWN] Former president Pervez Perv Musharraf
... former dictator of Pakistain, who was less dictatorial and corrupt than any Pak civilian government to date ...
has announced a "grand alliance" of 23 political parties that will operate under the umbrella of the Pakistain Awami Itehad (PAI), DawnNews reported on Friday.

The alliance will be headed by Musharraf, while Iqbal Dar has been appointed Secretary General. The central office of the alliance will be in Islamabad.

Addressing a presser in this regard, Musharraf denied persistent rumours that he had wished to lead the Muttahida Qaumi Movement
...English: United National Movement, generally known as MQM, is the 3rd largest political party and the largest secular political party in Pakistain with particular strength in Sindh. From 1992 to 1999, the MQM was the target of the Pak Army's Operation Cleanup leaving thousands of urdu speaking civilians dead...
(MQM), claiming that it was ridiculous to think that he would want to be head of a "minor, ethnic party".

"MQM-Pakistain is merely half of what the [original] party used to be," he said. "I am concerned about [the internal problems] of the party; however, I have no interest in replacing Farooq Sattar or Mustafa Kamal even if their parties are united," he insisted.

Criticising MQM, he said that the party and the muhajir community have lost respect. The muhajir community would do better to abandon ethnic politics and join PAI, he said.

He added that the alliance between MQM and the Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) could not last due to a lack of leadership. However,
you can observe a lot just by watching...
he said, that it would still be better for both MQM and the PSP to form an alliance.

He expressed hope that Pakistain Moslem League-Quaid leaders Chaudhry Shujaat and Chaudhry Pervez Elahi would join his grand alliance as well.

The former president also advised Pakistain Tehhreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan
... aka Taliban Khan, who isn't your heaviest-duty thinker, maybe not even among the top five...
to "join hands with a group that would take Pakistain forward" while accusing him of only thinking about his own party (PTI).

’s remarks on the Supreme Court verdict are unbecoming of his stature and his attempt to degrade the judiciary can pose a serious threat to the country’s future.

He was talking to the media at the mausoleum of Allama Iqbal after offering prayers on Thursday.

Mr Haq said self-seeking politicians had always harmed the Constitution and democracy and a clash with the judiciary was not in the interest of the present government itself and it would be responsible for the consequences. He said that Nawaz Sharif’s derogatory remarks about the country’s courts were below his status as a party leader, wondering what message Mr Sharif was giving to the masses.

Will IRGC-established militia in Syria sabotage de-escalation agreement?
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Iranian Revolutionary Guards established a new militia named Brigade 313 in South Syria, it has been revealed.

Syrian opposition figures warned that the militia, which consists of young men from Daraa and which is trained and funded by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, aims to sabotage the de-escalation agreement in South Syria.

The name of the militia is linked to sectarian concepts, which Tehran is trying to solidify in the region. Syrian chief opposition negotiator Mohammed Sabra said the militia’s composition falls within the context of Iran’s divisive
...politicians call things divisive when when the other side sez something they don't like. Their own statements are never divisive, they're principled...
policies in the region.

The newly-formed militia is headquartered in the Christian majority city of Izra but its fighters consist of Shiites from South Syria. Sabra said Iran formed the brigade on a certain sectarian basis while ignoring the rest of the region’s components.

Hamburg agreement
Iran is trying to move around the Hamburg agreement between Russia and the US and which impose keeping Iranian forces and militias affiliated with it at least 35 kilometers away from Syrian-Jordanian borders.

The militia’s headquarters in Izra is around 30 kilometers away from the borders with Jordan and Israel, which poses a direct threat to the agreement between Washington and Moscow.

Saudi citizen kidnapped in Lebanon; million dollar in ransom demanded
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A Saudi citizen was kidnapped in Leb and a million dollars in ransom was demanded for his release.

The Saudi Embassy in Leb has been working with the security authorities at the highest level to release the kidnapped citizen unconditionally as soon as possible.

Abd al-Shamrawi, 32, the Saudi national married to a Syrian woman called Fasila Azir, was kidnapped near his home in al-Aqiba, Keserwan, in Mount Leb governorate.

The Lebanese police are searching for him near his home.

Al-Nahar, the Lebanese newspaper, mentioned that the police is searching for the Saudi abductee after his wife reported his disappearance.

A Lebanese security source said that the wife contacted the security forces today and reported the disappearance of her husband, pointing out that the investigations are going on to find out his location. The kidnapped Saudi citizen originally hails from Qatif in the Eastern Province of Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
Lebanese media sources said that the family of the Saudi national received a call demanding $1 million to release him.

"We are investigating the kidnapping of a Saudi citizen case and we will not allow anyone to exploit the political crisis to disturb the atmosphere", the Lebanese Interior Minister said.

The safety and security of Saudi nationals, and all Arab and foreign nationals, is a priority for the Lebanese authorities, and tampering with security and stability is a red line, and the security forces have been mobilized, he added.

Earlier, the Saudi Foreign Ministry asked its nationals residing and visiting Leb to leave as soon as possible, and also advised its nationals not to travel to Leb from any international destination.

Europe
Tensions over Muslim Street Prayers North of Paris
[AnNahar] Around 100 local French politicians attempted to block Moslems praying in a street north of Gay Paree on Friday and called on the government to ban what they see as an unacceptable use of public space.

The politicians, led by the head of the regional government of the Gay Paree area, Valerie Pecresse, disrupted the crowd of around 200 all-male devotees and sang the national anthem in the multiethnic Clichy suburb.

"Public space cannot be taken over in this way," Pecresse said at the demonstration alongside the rightwing mayor of Clichy, Remi Muzeau, who like other politicians wore a sash in the national colors of blue, white and red.

Prayers in the street have taken place every Friday in Clichy since March to protest the closure of a popular local mosque that had operated in a government building.

The interior ministry "must ban street prayers," Muzeau told news hounds at the scene on Friday. "I am responsible for guaranteeing the tranquility and freedom of everyone in my town."

The former mosque run by the Union of Clichy Moslem Associations (UAMC) was used by 3,000 to 5,000 Moslems daily before the mayor's office reclaimed the building and turned it into a library.

Muzeau says that local Moslems have been urged to use a new 1,500-square-meter (16,000 square feet) mosque nearby, but many are refusing to go there.

La Belle France has Europe's largest Moslem community, estimated at around five million, and concern about the religion challenging the country's strict secular laws was a major theme in this year's presidential election.

Moslem religious leaders complain that not enough space is made available for those wanting to attend services, but building new mosques remains controversial, with the influential far-right National Front (FN) particularly hostile.

In 2011, FN leader Marine Le Pen compared the sight of Moslems praying on the streets to the occupation of La Belle France by the Nazis in World War II, leading her to be prosecuted -- and acquitted -- for inciting hatred.

Abdelkader, a Clichy resident who was praying in the street on Friday, told AFP that he wanted a "dignified" place to worship, as Christians and Jews enjoy in La Belle France, and that said nobody liked being in the street surrounded by police every Friday.

He also resented the politicians singing the national anthem during their protest.

"They were singing the Marseillaise, throwing it in our faces, even though we're French people here. We're French. Long live La Belle France!" he said.

Soldiers wounded in bombing attack in al-Rayhana

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Several soldiers were injured in a blast caused by remnants of the battles against Islamic State in west of Anbar, a military source said on Friday.

Speaking to AlSumaria News, “bombs, planted by IS, exploded today targeting army troops in al-Rayhana, east of Annah town.”

“The explosion left several soldiers wounded,” the source, who preferred anonymity, said without providing details about the number of the wounded, who were taken to hospital for treatment.

Security troops still comb the liberated regions in western Anbar from the landmines planted during the war against the militant group.

Why Obama put Bin Laden’s documents linking Iran, Qatar under lock and key
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Clifford May, president of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, said that days after the release of the late Osama bin Laden
... who is now beyond all cares and woe...
's documents out of his residence in Abbottabad
... A pleasant city located only 30 convenient miles from Islamabad. The city is noted for its nice weather and good schools. It is the site of Pakistain's military academy, which was within comfortable walking distance of the residence of the late Osama bin Laden....
in Pakistain, it became obvious why US President Barack Obama
I mean, I do think at a certain point you've made enough money...
didn’t publish those documents which links al-Qaeda with Iran and Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
In an article published on The Washington Times on Wednesday, May said senior experts at the Defense for Democracies and other centers opposed the government's decision not to publish Bin Laden's documents over the years, and wanted all documents to be available to researchers, journalists, policymakers and public opinion.

According to May, Bin Laden in his memoirs praised Qatari media at the time, in addition to his emphasis on the impact of the Moslem Brüderbund group on his approach to adopt the ideology of global jihad.

The president of the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies said that the most important part of the current political debate is the assessment of 19 pages of Bin Laden's dedicated documents on Iran.

It reveals that Iran has supplied al-Qaeda with "everything" from visas, money, weapons, as well as training in Hezbollah camps in Leb.

Iran has also provided a safe haven for al-Qaeda gunnies "in exchange for striking US interests in Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
and the Gulf," according to the documents.

In a separate memorandum, bin Laden himself shows that by 2007 Iran had become the main source of funds, personnel and communications for al-Qaeda.

May asserts that al-Qaeda and Iran are not enemies but rivals, competing and fighting at the same time as they have profound doctrinal differences.

Mike Pompeo, the new Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (D/CIA), in Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
’s government, made a major effort to publish 470,000 documents, photographs and computer files obtained from the Abbottabad hideout.

He criticized Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who worked for years through the Iranian lobby in the United States, for preventing the publication of those documents that show Iran's support for the world's largest terrorist organization as he considered Abbottabad documents fabricated.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Why Saad Hariri faced threat from both Iran and Hezbollah
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] While considering the manner in which Saad Hariri
Second son of Rafik Hariri, the Leb PM who was assassinated in 2005. He has was prime minister in his own right from 2009 through early 2011. He was born in Riyadh to an Iraqi mother and graduated from Georgetown University. He managed his father's business interests in Riyadh until his father's assassination. When his father died he inherited a fortune of some $4.1 billion, which won't do him much good if Hizbullah has him bumped off, too.
had to resign as Leb’s prime minister, it has to be realized that Hezbollah controls around 25 percent of that country’s territory and that its militia has grown more powerful than the Lebanese army.

The level of interference by both Hezbollah and Syria in Lebanese politics at the behest of the Iranian regime, particularly Hezbollah’s proven record of assassinating those speaking out against it or its Syrian and Iranian patrons, must have been a major cause behind Saad Hariri’s decision to leave the country before announcing his resignation.

Iran’s terror proxy
As far as Hezbollah is concerned, the area it controls within Leb is virtually a state within a state. Due to the introduction of well-constructed social programs, Hezbollah has managed to maintain a very strong grassroots support amongst the local Shia population. But behind its facade of social programs, the terrorist group has an ulterior motive.

Able to collect its own taxes, it is also well funded by Iran. Having vast resources for setting up health clinics, hospitals, and centres to assist orphans and widows, as well as for running schools with syllabi similar to those in Iran, it has helped Tehran to gain a firm foothold in the country, as well as to keep its followers close.

Beneath the cover of running social programs, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has infiltrated its men into many of Hezbollah’s institutions, allowing it to penetrate the local society.

Saudi FM Jubeir: We would like sanctions against Iran for supporting terror
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
would like to see sanctions on Iran for its support of terrorism and for violating the ballistic missile resolutions of the United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
, foreign minister Adel al-Jubeir has said.

In an interview to CNBC, Jubeir said that when you combine those three, fixing the nuclear agreement and holding Iran accountable for its support of terrorism and for its ballistic missile program, then I think we have an effective way of dealing with Iran.

On being asked about the ballistic missile launch from Yemen, he said that the missile was Iranian built and was similar to a missile that was launched against the city of Yanbu on July 22.

"It’s a carrying missile, has a range of over 900 kilometers. It was smuggled into Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
in parts and then assembled in Yemen we believe by the Revolutionary Guards and Hezbollah experts and then it was launched at our city," said Jubeir.

On the nuclear deal with Iran, he said that it is about fixing a deal that needed to be fixing.

"The nuclear agreement was weak. It has a sunset provision which expires 12 years after the signing of the agreement which lifts the restrictions on how many centrifuges Iran can have. The Iranians theoretically could have 50,000 to 100,000 centrifuges," he said.

Assassination of an Ahwazi: Iran’s proxy war moves to Europe
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A chill wind blew through the Iranian expatriate community when Ahmad Molla Nissi, leader of a faction of Ahwazi Arab separatists, was rubbed out outside his home in The Hague on Wednesday night.

While many in the Iranian opposition ‐ particularly those with Persian chauvinist attitudes ‐ eschew his politics and violent tactics against the regime, there is fear that this liquidation could be part of a campaign of killings similar to the ’chain murders’ that targeted leading activists during the 1990s. These killings, carried out in Iran and Europe, included the infamous Mykonos restaurant liquidations that wiped out the leadership of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan, the largest Kurdish party fighting the regime. However,
women are made to be loved, not understood...
most killings were members of the intelligentsia who questioned the regime’s theocratic premise.

Home Front: Culture Wars
After 13 years in the military, this is my toughest Veterans Day
[CNN] I can recall where I celebrated every Veterans Day since 2005, during my 13 years of service with the United States Army. One was in Baghdad, Iraq, and another was in Kandahar, Afghanistan. My wife was pregnant and alone the Veterans Day I spent in South Korea, and she was raising our three children by herself the year I was conducting training in the Pacific theater. On four other occasions I was in various training exercises across the country: Sweating in the heat at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. Freezing in the snow at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

But the most memorable Veterans Day was in 2016. Not because it was spent in some far-off corner of the world, but because I was serving for the first time as my authentic self. The US military had successfully integrated transgender soldiers into its ranks. I could look forward to the rest of my career with the knowledge that I would only be discriminated against based solely on my performance

Egypt’s ISIS affiliate kills 10 people in Sinai convoy attack
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Militants from an ISIS affiliate ambushed a convoy of cement trucks late Thursday from an army factory in the central Sinai Peninsula, killing eight civilian employees and two soldiers, security officials said.

Lt. Col. Ibrahim Hussein Mohammed was killed in the nighttime attack near the town of Nakhl, the officials added. The Lion of Islams, from the group formerly known as Ansar Beit al-Maqdis, stole the men's weapons and burnt seven trucks.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to news hounds. ISIS did not immediately claim responsibility for the attack.

Egypt is also facing a growing number of attacks by holy warriors in its Western Desert, the latest of which killed 16 coppers according to an official tally issued by the Interior Ministry. Security officials, however, have told journalists that dozens more, including high-ranking counterterrorism officers, perished in the Oct. 20 attack some 135 kilometers (84 miles) southwest of the capital, Cairo.

Preventing extremism
[DAWN] VIOLENT extremism is increasingly being viewed as a combined security and development challenge. A long-lasting solution to curbing militancy requires the state to move beyond its national counterterrorism operations and adopt a holistic approach. In this context, activist and dancer Sheema Kermani recently urged the government to allocate at least 1pc of GDP for cultural pursuits given that the arts ‐ and sports ‐ are vital conduits for promoting pluralism and tolerance, especially in communities that are vulnerable to the influence of militancy. She made this recommendation while presenting a new UN report on the impact of fundamentalism on the cultural rights of women, noting that holy warrior groups have a history of violently curtailing artistic expression with their absolutist interpretations of religion. Banning traditional festivities, targeting events at universities, bombing Sufi shrines, killing Swat’s women dancers, attacking actors, musicians and poets all constitute violent acts by holy warrior groups to terrorise populations. Under no circumstances should the government tolerate such direct challenges to its writ by those who compromise the security of its citizenry. When violent forces try to eliminate fundamental cultural rights, the state must not collude with or give in to the will of regressive groups ‐ especially when the latter punish cultural expression, supposedly incompatible with rigid religious interpretations, through campaigns of harassment, abuse and outright violence.

To ensure that the values of pluralism and tolerance are ingrained in our counterterrorism strategies, cultural policies reflecting international human values must be adopted. The hydra-headed monster which is militancy and terrorism draws strength primarily from young recruits and marginalised segments of society ‐ this fact alone should be enough for the government to work on ways that complement existing counter-extremism strategies. However,
a poor excuse is better than no excuse at all...
these cannot be peripheral actions. They must form part of national policies deemed critical to creating alternatives for protecting our youth from all forms of radicalisation.

Confusion still reigns over Trump-Putin meet in Vietnam
[DAWN] Russia and the United States gave mixed messages on Friday about whether their leaders will meet on the sidelines of a regional summit in Vietnam, with the White House ruling out an encounter but the Kremlin saying it could still happen.

Relations between Moscow and Washington have plummeted as a US probe has accused Trump's former campaign aides of secretly meeting Kremlin-connected officials ‐ a charge Moscow denies.

Both leaders are attending the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in the city of Danang and there have been conflicting indications in recent days on whether a face-to-face was on the cards.

The issue appeared to be finally settled shortly before Trump's touchdown in Danang on Friday afternoon when press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders briefed news hounds on board Air Force One that there was not enough time for the pair to meet.

"There was never a meeting confirmed, and there will not be one that takes place due to scheduling conflicts on both sides," she said.

But Putin's team said a tete-a-tete could still take place.

"There is contradictory information coming from our American colleagues," Putin's front man Dmitry Peskov told news hounds after Sanders' comments. "In any case, a meeting will take place on the sidelines."

Afghanistan
Hamid Karzai: US colluded with ISIL in Afghanistan
[Al Jazeera] Hamid Maybe I'll join the Taliban Karzai
...A product, probably the sole product, of the Southern Alliance...
, the former president of Afghanistan, has accused the the US of working with the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) group in his country.

In an exclusive interview with Al Jazeera's UpFront aired on Friday, Karzai said the US government had allowed ISIS, also known as ISIS, to flourish inside Afghanistan.

"In my view under the full presence, surveillance, military, political, intelligence, ISIS [ISIS] has emerged," he said.

"And for two years the Afghan people came, cried loud about their suffering, of violations. Nothing was done."

Karzai said the US administration of President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
made ISIS as an excuse to drop a massive bomb in Afghanistan on April 2017.

"And the next day, ISIS takes the next district in Afghanistan," he said referring to the Arabic name of the gang.

"That proves to us that there is a hand in it and that hand can be no one else but them [the US] in Afghanistan."

#4  The issue isn't so much Karzai. This kind of duplicity/deliberate deceit is par for the course in that part of the world. That's why they're shitholes. It's Bush. The guy was a failure in the private sector. His entire selling point was that he was a good manager - that he knew how to pick people.

His picks in Iraq and Afghanistan have certainly not inspired confidence. Leftist historians and journalists dislike him for different reasons. But if Bush had picked a Franco or a Pinochet who smacked around the opposition while putting his nation on a sound footing, would they have much of a basis for criticizing him? Bush was an abysmal failure, whereas Obama was a great success. Bush was lousy at getting his agenda through, whereas Obama aced his agenda.

Cyprus says it could send more light arms to Iraqi Kurds

[Ynet] Cyprus' foreign minister says the island nation could send more light arms and ammunition it no longer needs to Iraqi Kurds to assist in their fight against the Islamic State

group.

Ioannis Kasoulides said Friday that Cyprus has already dispatched two shipments of Serb-made Zastava assault rifles and ammunition to Kurdish fighters, delivered by US authorities.

Kasoulides says any further assistance would be sent in consultation with Cyprus' partners in the anti-IS coalition. He notes that Cyprus fully supports Iraq's territorial integrity.

Cyprus' top diplomat says La Belle France helped to deliver unused Cypriot light arms and ammunition to Leb's armed forces to thwart attacks from holy warrior groups on its northern border. Jordan received similar assistance.

Arabia
4 dead in fighting in Yemen's al-Shabwa
ADEN: Two soldiers and two terrorists were killed in clashes Friday as Emirati-backed Yemeni forces seized an Al-Qaeda foothold in the country’s south, security sources said.

Militants fled to nearby mountains after the clashes in Al-Hawtah district of Shabwa province, said a Yemeni officer.

He said Apache helicopters belonging to the UAE — a key member of a Saudi-led Arab coalition in Yemen — then strafed the mountains where the terrorists had fled.

“We entered Al-Hawtah after clashes with the terrorists and now we’re stationed in several locations... We are in total control of the area,” the officer said.

The UAE has been playing a key role in the Saudi-led campaign in Yemen, launched in 2015 to roll back Houthi militia gains but which has expanded to counter militant advances.

Al-Qaeda has flourished in the chaos of Yemen’s civil war and in August, Emirati-trained Yemeni special forces launched a US-backed operation against the group, also the target of a long-running US drone campaign.

Yemeni forces have brought Shabwa province largely under government control, though Al-Qaeda is known to make tactical retreats to mountain refuges, only to resurface.

Houthi militias still occupy one district of Shabwa as well as the neighboring province of Baida, the capital Sanaa and most of northern Yemen.

Iran building a permanent military base in Syria — report
[IsraelTimes] Satellite photos commissioned by the BBC show construction of two dozen large low-rise buildings -- likely for housing soldiers and vehicles
Photos and a map can be seen at the link.
Iran is building a permanent military base in Syria just south of Damascus, the BBC reported Friday, citing a Western intelligence official. The British broadcaster commissioned a series of satellite pictures that indicate widespread construction at the site.

Israel has long warned that Iran is trying to establish a permanent presence in Syria as part of its efforts to control a land corridor from Iran through to the Mediterranean Sea as it attempts to expand its influence across the Middle East.

According to the BBC report, the base is situated at a site used by the Syrian army near El-Kiswah, 14 km (8 miles) south of Damascus.

The BBC provided satellite images that show "a series of two dozen large low-rise buildings, likely for housing soldiers and vehicles."

The photos, taken over several months, show additional buildings being constructed. However,
facts are stubborn; statistics are more pliable...
the report said that "it is impossible to independently verify the purpose of the site and the presence of the Iranian military."

"The images of the base do not reveal any signs of large or unconventional weaponry which means if it was a base it would most likely be to house soldiers and vehicles," the BBC said, quoting a source who said it was possible that senior Iranian military officials may have visited the compound in recent weeks.

Also, the report said independent analysis of the images commissioned by the BBC concluded that the facility is military in nature. The analysis also suggested there are a series of garages that can hold six to eight vehicles each.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
IDF launches new reserve unit to fight Jordan Valley terrorism
Happy hunting, guys.
[Ynet] The IDF has established a new reserve unit trained and fitted to the first responders to terrorist attacks in the Jordan Valley‐the home of the very people this unit is composed of.

Dozens of veterans of combat units and elite patrols from the Jordan Valley established, together with the IDF, a new unit that is supposed to provide the first response to any terror incident in the area.

The need for the new unit, which received the acronym RRU‐Rapid Response Unit, increased following the expansion of the Jordan Valley's border, which now stretches over 250 kilometers.

Members of the RRU‐salaried employees and self-employed persons who work in a variety of professions, including hi-tech, tourism, agriculture, etc., all graduates of the IDF combat service‐identified the security gap.

Following their request to the IDF, the idea of establishing a unit deployed throughout the sector was born in order to provide a quick response to any event.

The person who was recruited to build the unit is Command Sergeant Major (res.) D, who took part in the construction of several elite units, including the IDF's Duvdevan Unit and the Israeli Prison Service's Metzada unit.

"Almost a year after it was decided to establish it, it can be said that the unit is on its feet," said D., who was also appointed commander of the unit. "We trained in counter-terrorism, shooting and weapon usage. The guys are ready."

In the past year, as part of the unit's readiness, its members have held many days of reserve duty‐often four days in a row each month‐and practiced raids on schools and public buildings, while taking over hostage-holding terrorists.

The unit, which on Tuesday completed its final exercise and became operational, is on standby 24 hours a day and is suited to terrorist threats as analyzed by intelligence personnel in the IDF.

"The strengthening of Paleostinian Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
on the northern border is not hidden from us, and we are constantly taking steps to provide a proper response to the next threat," a senior security source said Tuesday, stressing its importance by adding that terrorist cells from Jordan could enter Jordan Valley settlements and perform devastating terror attack with dozens left dead.

"The unit's goal is to get to the scene as soon as possible and give an immediate response," D. summarized. "In order to overcome the problem of the vastness of the area, the unit was built from the residents of the settlements in an informed manner and was divided into teams according to the residential areas.

"That's why we can reach any event in this area within minutes. These guys came to this unit out of a sense of mission. They enlisted for a national mission, to maintain security in their area."

This Week in Guns, November 11th, 2017
By Chris Covert
Rantburg.com

Housekeeping Note: If I didn't know better, I'd say one of the basic fallouts of the Virginia election this past Tuesday is that the Virginia rifle market has all but collapsed.

What I have seen on display in social media in the six days since the massacre has been some of the most idiotic remarks on firearms and gun laws, coming not just from liberals and Kommies, but from people who should know better.

This video is among the most shared/viewed summaries of the AR15, and also among the most idiotic.

From presumably pro gun groups such as the Zelman Partisans comes the false statement that federal gun laws prevent an individual such as the Texas shooter, Devin Patrick Kelly, from owning firearms.

Kelly has the unrestricted right, his criminal past notwithstanding, to possess a firearm. The restrictions on ownership appear in state laws, not in federal.

If you read federal laws, you should note that unless you deal in arms and ammunition as a business, not so much as a syllable mentions gun ownership.

Federal laws prevent others from transferring firearms to the "prohibited person", but do not state anywhere that that individual should not own a firearm.

One young woman in a Facebook posting claimed that the shooter probably gained his firearms because the background check did not come back in time. I told her that NICS checks are instantaneous. No response

Another fella from California claimed that the shooter could not purchase firearms at all, and I told him that he could have bought a firearms from private seller in Texas, all perfectly legal.

The Californian became indignant and responded with something like I know everything, provably untrue.

All that said, Oathkeepers did post some good information on preparation for the evil that is coming our way as gun owners.

My only quibble is that prohibited person or not, if you are going to be in a gun free zone for any length of time, you should have a firearm on your person, or within easy reach.

Another point not discussed is that even armed in or near a gun free zone, someone is going to get shot if a shooter such as Kelly appears, regardless. He has a tactical advantage, whether you are cocked and locked or not. You can pay attention to whomever comes into the zone, or you can pay attention to the reason you are there to begin with. You can't do both.

Now for the technical part.

The Texas shooter fired a total of 450 rounds in his attack. That means he had to have no fewer than 15 standard capacity magazines on his person, or in a pouch/bag with him. Most chest rigs hold six magazines.

The shooter wore body armor because, it is speculated, he expected at least one congregant to be armed. But they were not.

Speaking in a tactical sense, the shooter staged a direct assault on a soft target and scored a lot of hits. But once again, even with such a gross tactical advantage, his hit ratio was 10 rounds for every hit. He was a terrible shot, in other words, and you likely will find in other mass shootings that holds as well.

Evil people suck at shot placement.

Loads.

#7  Quote from the linked article;

"Churches attract these crazy people like moths to a flame."

In terms of situational awareness churches are not just potential soft targets for people with psychological issues they are often the last refuge for folks with mental challenges. Make no mistake this is not a criticism of the observant and is a good thing. But reality suggests the potential for a rampage in a house of worship (whether from an outside attackers or a congregant) is greater than some other gatherings. Don't let a false sense of security lull you away from your normal protections.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Rise in Russian, Turkish immigration to Israel bucking Western slump
[IsraelTimes] Number of new immigrants colonists in 2017 up 2 percent from year before despite decrease in new arrivals from US, La Belle France.

Bucking a slump in Western immigration to Israel under its law of return for Jews, the number of new arrivals from Russia has increased in 2017 and more than doubled from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
.
In total, the 23,415 immigrants colonists who have come to Israel from January 1 to September 30 constituted a 2 percent increase over the corresponding period last year, an interim report by the Jewish Agency for Israel showed.

The 8% rise in immigration from the former Soviet Union, representing 13,192 individuals, helped make up for an 11% decrease from the United States, which brought 2,282 immigrants colonists to Israel. Among the FSU figures, 5,661 immigrants colonists came from Russia, where sanctions and a financial crisis exacerbated by low oil prices have halved the value of the ruble against the dollar since 2014.

Ukraine, where the economy crashed following a revolution and territorial disputes with Russia after 2013, provided Israel with nearly 6,000 newcomers.

Immigration from La Belle France, which in 2015 was for the second year straight Israel’s largest source of immigrants colonists with 7,328 newcomers, continued to plummet, registering a 26% drop this year to a total of 3,138 newcomers. La Belle France, which is seeing an economic improvement following several stagnant years, also has recorded a decrease in anti-Semitic incidents since 2015 that the government attributes to its security measures. Immigration from Britannia also decreased by 16% to 459 newcomers.

In recent years, immigration tallies for the first three quarters of the year rarely have changed dramatically as the large waves of immigration, or aliyah, by families usually occur in the summer ahead of the new school year. In 2016, the tally for the first three quarters of the year accounted for 75% of the total annual number.

Another noticeable increase came from Turkey, where many Jews are exploring immigration options amid political instability and allegations of state-tolerated anti-Semitism under President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
of the Islamist Justice and Development Party. This year, more than 350 Ottoman Turkish Jews came, compared to 164 in the corresponding period last year.

Iraq
700+ Russian and and Azerbaijani ISIS wimmin busted in Mosul
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) More than 700 Russian and Azerbaijani female members of the Islamic State have been arrested since Iraqi forces recaptured the city of Mosul early July, an Iraqi parliament member has said.

Fayan Dakhil wrote on twitter that Iraqi security, since the liberation of Mosul from Islamic State militants, had arrested 512 Russian female IS members in addition to 200 Azerbaijanis.

A spokesperson of Azerbaijan’s foreign ministry said in a statement, quoted by the national news agency, that his country maintains contacts with the Iraqi side to verify the reports.

Iraqi forces had previously said they were holding nearly 1,400 family members of Islamic State fighters who had turned themselves in with Kurdish Peshmerga forces.

China-Japan-Koreas
Only if it serves the state: North Korea's deep internet censorship and surveillance
[DAWN] Ever so cautiously, North Korea is going online.

Doctors can consult via live, online video conferencing, and lectures at prestigious Kim Il Sung University are streamed to faraway factories and agricultural communes.

People use online dictionaries and text each other on their smart phones. In the wallets of the privileged are "Jonsong" or "Narae" cards for e-shopping and online banking. Cash registers at major department stores are plugged into the web.

It's just not the World Wide Web ─ this is all done on a tightly sealed intranet of the sort a medium-sized company might use for its employees.

The free flow of information is anathema to authoritarian regimes, and with the possible exception of the African dictatorship of Eritrea
...is run by the People's Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ), with about the amounts of democracy and justice you'd expect from a party with that name. National elections have been periodically scheduled and cancelled; none have ever been held in the country. The president, Isaias Afewerki, has been in office since independence in 1993 and will probably die there of old age...
, North Korea is still the least Internet-friendly country on Earth.

Access to the global Internet for most is unimaginable.

Hardly anyone has a personal computer or an email address that isn't shared, and the price for trying to get around the government's rules can be severe.

But for Kim Pudge Jong-un
...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished...
, the country's first leader to come of age with the Internet, the idea of a more wired North Korea is also attractive.

It comes with the potential for great benefits to the nation from information technology and for new forms of social and political control that promise to be more effective than anything his father and grandfather could have dreamed of.

The Grand Turk
Turkey Detains 82 Foreigners Planning to Go to Syria
[AnNahar] Ottoman Turkish authorities have detained 82 foreigners in Istanbul suspected of having links to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group and planning to go to Syria, as The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
's crackdown against the jihadist group widens.
Why on earth would wannabe jihadis want to join ISIS in Syria when it has already been defeated there? Truly these are not the sharpest knives in the block.
Police officers have been conducting raids almost daily against IS cells across the country, with increasing intensity in the past few weeks.

The state-run Anadolu news agency said the suspects had previously been involved with IS fighters in "conflict zones", and were planning to try to reach Syria "in the coming days".

Separately, the privately owned Dogan news agency reported that nearly 800 alleged IS members had illegally crossed into Turkey from Syria, though it did not say over what period.

Police raided 14 addresses in Istanbul, and also detained 11 other suspects of Syrian origin in the southern city of Adana, Anadolu reported.

The detentions were reported a day after a series of anti-IS raids in Ankara during which at least 173 people were detained in operations conducted by 1,500 coppers.

Most of those detained were of Syrian origin, Dogan reported.

The agency added that authorities had carried out Thursday's raids over fears of an attack on November 10, the date on which Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, father of the modern Ottoman Turkish republic, died in 1938.

Dozens of people had already been detained in Ankara late last month, some of whom were suspected of planning an attack on Republic Day on October 29.

According to the interior ministry, around 450 suspects were detained on suspicion of helping or being in contact with IS in October.

- Fleeing imported muscle -
With IS fighters on the run and losing territory in Syria and Iraq, including major cities like djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
in northern Iraq, there are fears that foreigners who came to fight will pose security risks if they return home.

At least 5,600 citizens or residents of 33 countries have already returned, the Soufan Centre, a nonprofit security analysis group, said last month.

Despite a lull in attacks in Turkey since January, tensions remain high as authorities hunt turban cells across the country.

In the Aegean city of Izmir, seven suspected IS members were detained while nine suspects were seized in the northern city of Trabzon, Anadolu said on Friday.

During the Trabzon operation, two guns were found with 159 rounds of ammunition.

- Syria operations -
Turkey came under attack from IS beginning in late 2015 after Ankara allowed the US military to conduct air strikes on IS targets in Syria via Turkey's Incirlik air base.

Turkey had long been one of the main points of passage to Syria for foreigners, especially Westerners, trying to join jihadist groups.

Ankara was previously accused of turning a blind eye and was criticised by its Western allies for not doing enough to fight the Islamic State group.

But in August 2016 Ankara launched operation "Euphrates Shield" to support rebels in northern Syria trying to clear the border region of IS fighters.

The authorities claimed the operation was a success and ended it in March.

And last month, Turkey entered northwest Syria's largely jihadist-controlled Idlib Province to form a "de-escalation zone" in the fight against jihadists.

Idlib has been controlled for the past few months by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), a group led by al-Qaeda's former Syria affiliate.

#7  Just curious. These allegations apparently happened 30+ years ago. Moore had been a judge, numerous elections (including a hard fought primary) yet the surge of these stories come pouring into the media right after Ed Gillespie the establishment VA governor candadite loses big in VA. #8  Mark Levin in an article at Zero Hedge. A Navy veteran of 22 years and a former SS said his wife has a friend who knew one of the women. He claims this person knows of a WaPo reporter who offered $1000 to make a claim against Moore--this is supposed to have been recorded and is in DA's hands.

The only thing missing is Gloria Allred (fitting name) in this story.

This smells of a Donk political assassination. Donks seldom care about $ex scandals except when they can be used to further power. Look at WJC and Hilda--plenty of sex scandals overlooked over the years.

The real story is that the Donks are trying to shift the control of the Senate. They figure if they can get another Senate seat, they can peel off enough Rinos in critical issues to basically control legislation and agendas.

It's a domino similar to 'Build the Wall', if Roe vs Wade goes down, Planned Parenthood and the financial link to much of urban America vaporizes. If 'The Wall' is built and the drug flow is seriously impacted, the urban drug market will suffer.

It's all about money and control.

Europe
Prosecutors: Palestinian Hamburg terrorist wanted to kill Christians
[IsraelTimes] The unnamed man, a rejected asylum seeker, who killed one and maimed six, tells Sherlocks he was part of a 'worldwide jihad' and motivated by tensions over Temple Mount.

German prosecutors said Friday they have indicted on murder charges a Paleostinian man who fatally stabbed one person and maimed six others at a Hamburg supermarket in July.

The suspect wanted to kill as many Germans of Christian faith as possible to avenge what he considered to be injustices against Moslems worldwide, federal prosecutors said in a statement.
Oddly enough, he did not attack until informed that his spurious asylum request had been rejected.
He considered his actions a "contribution to a worldwide jihad," they added.

The 26-year-old suspect, a rejected asylum seeker identified only as Ahmad A. due to German privacy rules, was charged with one count of murder, six counts of attempted murder and six counts of serious bodily harm.

Prosecutors said Sherlocks had found no credible evidence that A., who was born in the United Arab Emirates and arrived in Germany in 2015,
...after a stop in Norway. The German authorities just missed the deadline to send him back, because they were overloaded with so many other "refugees" ...
was involved with or had the support of any Lion of Islam group, such as the so-called Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group. They also found no evidence that anyone else was involved in the attack.

The suspect carried out the attack on July 28 with a kitchen knife he grabbed from a supermarket shelf. He was then overwhelmed by passers-by and tossed in the calaboose
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
Ahmad A. had been cooperating with authorities in efforts to secure new Paleostinian identity papers so that he could be deported.

Officials in Hamburg have said that he was known to authorities as a suspected Islamic radical but not as a "jihadist." They also considered him psychologically unstable but didn’t conclude that he posed any immediate danger.
Unstable petty criminal and druggy though he was, the authorities still attempted to recruit him as an informant about the Salafists they knew he associated with.
Federal prosecutors said he decided on the day of the attack to kill Christian Germans indiscriminately, and that he cited tensions at the time over the Temple Mount holy site in Jerusalem as his immediate motivation.
Golly. The Local.de adds:
He risks life in prison, although Germany often grants parole after 15 years.

#2  The thing is, most Germans are post-Christian atheists. What the idiot meant was unbelievers. But really, he didn't even mean that, because he was striking out at the nearest bodies, who may well have been Moslem, and even fellow "asylum seekers". Those who chased him down and beat him with chairs, not to mention those who reported him at various times to the authorities as being a threat, were of his faith and his part of the world.

Sure this dirtbag may have snapped. Regardless he was following Muhammad's command and example of murdering anyone that resists the jihadi Islamic virus. Blaming his behavior to simple anger ignores the commanded course of his religion.

We need to come clean and recognize the call to global violence and murder.

It’s not clear how many years he spent in Iran and what he exactly did there. However what’s certain is that Yemeni authorities imprisoned him after his return, sometime between the years 2004 and 2009, which is the time period when Houthi

Saudi-led strikes hit defense ministry in Yemen capital
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Saudi-led coalition carried out two air strikes on the defense ministry in Yemen's myrmidon-held capital Sanaa late Friday, witnesses and rebel media said, without reporting casualties.

Warplanes continued to circle in the skies above Sanaa after the strikes, the witnesses added.

The Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
militia media outlet al-Masirah also reported the two air strikes.

The coalition has targeted the defense ministry in the past, leaving it heavily damaged, but the fresh strikes come amid a ratcheting up of tensions between Soddy Arabia

and its rival Iran, which backs the Houthi myrmidons.

The coalition shut down Yemen's borders earlier this week after Saudi forces on Saturday intercepted a ballistic missile fired by the Houthis near the Riyadh airport.

The Death Eaters have threatened additional attacks on Saudi Arabia and its coalition partner the United Arab Emirates.

in March 2015 with the stated aim of rolling back Houthi militia gains and restoring the government of President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi to power.

The Houthis continue to control the capital Sanaa and much of Yemen's north.

UN to host first talks on use of 'killer robots'
[DAWN] The United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
is set to host the first-ever talks on the use of autonomous weapons, but those hoping for a ban on the machines dubbed killer robots will be disappointed, the ambassador leading the discussions said on Friday.

More than 100 artificial intelligence entrepreneurs led by Tesla's Elon Musk in August urged the UN to enforce a global ban on fully-automated weapons, echoing calls from activists who have warned the machines will put civilians at enormous risk.

A UN disarmament grouping known as the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW) will on Monday hold five days of talks on the issue in Geneva.

But anything resembling a ban, or even a treaty, remains far off, said the Indian ambassador on disarmament, Amandeep Gill, who is chairing the meeting. "It would be very easy to just legislate a ban but I think... rushing ahead in a very complex subject is not wise," he told news hounds.

"We are just at the starting line," he added.

He said the discussion, which will also include civil society and technology companies, will be partly focused on understanding the types of weapons in the pipeline.

Proponents of a ban, including the Campaign to Stop Killer Robots pressure group, insist that human beings must ultimately be responsible for the final decision to kill or destroy. They argue that any weapons system that delegates the decision on an individual strike to an algorithm is by definition illegal because computers cannot be held accountable under the international humanitarian law.
