FALSE ALARM: Hundreds evacuated from Oxford Circus 'as gunshots are fired' and armed police surround tube station while shoppers are locked in stores
Hundreds have been evacuated from Oxford Circus tube station amid reports of gunshots.

Armed police have arrived on scene after a gunman was reported to have fired shots.

The area is in lockdown and comes on one of the busiest shopping days of the year and pedestrians are being asked to inside buildings as police flood the area.

Greg Bird told MailOnline he was sat outside a coffee shop near Oxford Circus station when he saw ‘about 50 people sprinting around the corner and screaming’.

Government
'Bread and circuses' could strike down America like it did Rome
[The Hill] The use of propaganda for diversion to an altered state of reality that is defined by the politicians and the political parties is not new. We even observe this concept of diversion in antiquity.

Will Luden in "Bread and Circuses for the Masses ‐ Not Just Ancient Rome" describes the Roman government policy as "Emperors, in the later stages of the Empire, used both free bread (and other food) and free entertainment to placate the larger number of people who were otherwise poorly served by their government."

Jose Azel’s definition in "The Politics of Bread and Circuses" provides an easily understood and concise description. "Bread and Circus" are "political strategies calculated to appease a population and divert attention from controversial or failed policies with populist welfare programs..." He further explains, "public support is thus created not through exceptional public service and effective public policy, but through diversion, and patronage."

Caribbean-Latin America
Jihadists ‘Are Teaming Up with Violent Drug Lords' in Latin America
[Breitbart] Hezbollah and other Islamic terrorist groups are joining forces with "violent drug lords" in Latin America to raise money to fund their nefarious activities, posing a "grave threat" to U.S. national security, warned Rep. Robert Pittenger (R-NC) during an international forum on the nexus between drug cartels and Islamic extremists.

"Hezbollah is partnering with Latin American drug lords to raise money for terrorist activity. This includes participation in drug trafficking, gun running, and trade-based money laundering," declared the North Carolina Republican before traveling to Buenos Aires, Argentina, to lead the ninth Parliamentary Intelligence-Security Forum on Tuesday. "The combination of radical Islamic terrorists and violent drug lords is a serious threat to national security."

The U.S. State Department and the American military have conceded that Shiite Hezbollah militants and to a lesser extent Sunni Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) jihadists maintain a presence in Latin America.

As chief of U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) in charge of American military operations in most of Latin America and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) secretary, retired Gen. John Kelly highlighted the ongoing threat against the United States posed by the relationship between drug cartels and Islamic terrorist groups.

All aboard missing Argentine sub believed to be dead, family of missing sailor says
[ABC] Family members of the 44 sailors aboard a missing Argentine sub were told that their loved ones were believed to be dead, one of the family members told ABC News on Thursday.

Itati Leguizamon, whose husband, German Suarez, was aboard the submarine, the ARA San Juan, said the families were given the grim news.

Outside the ship's destination in Mar del Plata, Argentina, where family members gathered, a brother of one of the missing sailors was heard screaming, "They killed my brother!"

The news came as Argentine naval officials said that a sound detected during the desperate search for the sub, which vanished last week in the southern Atlantic Ocean, was consistent with an explosion.

The vessel was last heard from Nov. 15, and officials feared that it would run out of oxygen soon.

According to the Argentine navy officials, the sound, described as "consistent with a nonnuclear explosion" that was "abnormal, singular, short, violent" was detected three hours after the last known communication.

The sound, which originated about 270 miles east of the Gulf of San Jorge in the southern part of the country, was picked up by U.S. sensors and international agencies that are capable of detecting nuclear explosions.

According to the officials, the noise's source is in an area with a radius of 77 miles and possible depths of 650 to 10,000 feet.

The officials said that they do not believe the sound resulted from an attack or terrorism and that there was an indication of an electrical fault in the vessel on the morning of the last known communication.

According the officials, the sub should be largely in one piece even if there was an explosion, because a hull breach at such depths would result in the vessel's implosion.

Rescuers had been searching a 186,000 square mile area off the coast, and rough weather had hampered their efforts.

The vessel was en route to Mar del Plata from a base in Ushia, Argentina.

The Sexual "Reign of Terror": How we got here and where we're going
h/t Instapundit
The original "Reign of Terror" occurred during the French Revolution, when socialism itself was fully birthed. It was a period during which the French Revolutionaries executed thousands of people, many of whom were themselves Revolutionaries, including the father of the French Revolution, Robespierre. We are seeing something akin to the Reign of Terror on the Left today with the sudden purging of stalwart Progressives who have engaged in sexual harassment and abuse. How did we get here and how will it end?

Africa North
BREAKING: More than 54 85 235 dead, 75 80 100+ wounded in Sinai Bombing, shooting attack
[Jpost] A combined bombing and shooting attack at a mosque in the northern Sinai on Friday has caused major casualties, according to Egyptian officials.

A state of emergency was declared across the province following the attack that came as worshipers were conducting their Friday prayers at the Al Rawdah mosque in Bir al-Abed, west of Arish city.

At least 54 were killed and 75 were wounded in the attack, according to a health ministry spokesman.

Egyptian defense officials said the attack began with explosions and then assailants began firing with machine guns into the mosque.

Witnesses said militants entered the mosque, shot the worshipers, lit a vehicle outside the mosque on fire, and then proceeded to close the area to prevent rescue forces from operating.

The Sinai Peninsula has been the arena for increasing violence between the Egyptian military and jihadi militants loyal to ISIS.

In the past, military or police checkpoints and convoys were the preferred tactic.
Update from Al Ahram at 7:55 a.m. ET:
Eighty-five dead, 80 injured.

According to eyewitnesses who spoke to Al-Ahram’s Arabic website, the gunmen fired heavily on worshippers after IEDs were detonated at the mosque.

Feminist Emily Lindin Doesn't Care if Men Lose their Jobs over False Allegations
[Victory Girls] Emily Lindin is a Harvard graduate, a documentary director, a PhD candidate, a Teen Vogue columnist, a suicide prevention specialist, and the author of Unslut ‐ a middle school memoir in which she tells her story through her own diary entries of being labeled a slut at age 11.

On Tuesday, Ms. Lindin tweeted this:

Here's an unpopular opinion: I'm actually not at all concerned about innocent men losing their jobs over false sexual assault/harassment allegations.

‐ Emily Lindin (@EmilyLindin) November 21, 2017

As she sort of already knew, this was quite an unpopular opinion. So after a couple of hours of being schooled on why this is opinion was so bad, she then tweeted this:

I guess this is why people announce threads. I am definitely interested in nuancing around this point (re: how it works on campuses, race, other factors) ‐ Thanks to those of you who are doing that. https://t.co/jlO1cV0wvM

‐ Emily Lindin (@EmilyLindin) November 21, 2017

She was then schooled on how "nuancing" was not a word, and even if it was, she needed to admit that she was backtracking. She admitted that she had "missed a few layers" but denied that she was moving off of her position. Click through to the thread to see more.

This is just sad: A young woman can be so educated and yet have such an entitlement mentality that she can still be so unaware of how attitudes like this do nothing to correct real problems. She’s advocating a position exactly opposite of what our legal social contract promises ‐ due process. Without attention to the rights of an accused, all order falls apart. It does not matter if the accused is guilty or innocent, that is to be determined at a later time through a fairly applied process. Without due process guarantees nobody is safe. Do you hear that Emily? Yes, even your protections under the law are subject to the whim of whoever is in power. Shouldn’t the fact that Donald Trump is president alert you to the dangers of doing away with these protections ‐ your party is not guaranteed to forever be in power?!

NO, what is so sad is that we have such a debased education system that promotes the totalitarian attitude on no constraints of power and the subjugation of basic human rights. Power is self rationalizing and self justifying.

U.S. online sales surge, shoppers throng stores on Thanksgiving evening
[Reuters] U.S. shoppers had splurged more than $1.52 billion online by Thanksgiving evening, and more bargain hunters turned up at stores this year after two weak holiday seasons as retailers opened their doors early on the eve of Black Friday.

At the start of the holiday season consumer spending rose 16.8 percent year-over-year until 5 p.m. ET on Thursday, according to Adobe Analytics, which tracked 80 percent of online transactions at the top 100 U.S. retailers.

Surging online sales and a shift away from store shopping have thinned the crowds typically seen at stores on Thanksgiving evening and the day after, Black Friday, for the past two years. But a strong labor market, rising home prices and stock markets at record highs have improved shopper appetite this year.

Crowds at stores in many locations around the country were reported to be strong, according to analysts and retail consultants monitoring shopper traffic across the U.S.

Pakistan releases US-wanted militant suspect on court order
[AP] LAHORE, Pakistan ‐ Pakistani authorities acting on a court order released a U.S.-wanted militant Friday who allegedly founded a banned group linked to the 2008 Mumbai, India attack that killed 168 people, his spokesman and officials said.

Hafiz Saeed, who has been designated a terrorist by the U.S. Justice Department and has a $10 million bounty on his head, was released before dawn after the court this week ended his detention in the eastern city of Lahore.

The move outraged Indian authorities, but Saeed’s spokesman Yahya Mujahid confirmed his release, calling it a "victory of truth."

"Hafiz Saeed was under house arrest on baseless allegations and jail officials came to his home last night and told him that he is now free," he said.

Saeed ran the Jamaat-ud-Dawa organization, widely believed to be a front for the Lashkar-e-Taiba militant group, which India believes was behind the deadly attack in Mumbai.

Pakistan has been detaining and freeing Saeed off and on since the attack and he and four of his aides were put under house arrest in Lahore in January. His release came after a three-judge panel dismissed the government’s plea to continue his house arrest, which ended Thursday. His aides had been released earlier.

Work Starts On New UAE Naval Base In Somaliland
Curious.
[RadioShabelle] Divers Marine Contracting has started construction of a United Arab Emirates naval base in a semi-autonomous region of northern Somalia.

The closely held Sharjah-based engineering group began work on the project after being awarded the $90 million contract in April, Managing Director Abdulla Darwish said in an interview in Dubai.

The facility, being built near the regional port of Berbera, is expected to be completed by June, he said.

Berbera is located on the Gulf of Aden, 260 kilometers (162 miles) south of Yemen, where UAE troops in a Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
-led coalition are battling Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
rebels.

Somaliland’s foreign minister said in May that the UAE leased the airport in Berbera for 25 years as part of a pact for a military base. The gulf country is also building a military installation in Eritrea
...is run by the People's Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ), with about the amounts of democracy and justice you'd expect from a party with that name. National elections have been periodically scheduled and cancelled; none have ever been held in the country. The president, Isaias Afewerki, has been in office since independence in 1993 and will probably die there of old age...
The Somaliland naval base will include a 300-metre L-shaped inland berthing port with a depth of 7 metres "to support the military airport," accommodating naval vessels to patrol the Gulf of Aden, according to Darwish.

"It’s not a commercial port," he said. "It’s only for naval vessels."

Somaliland Foreign Minister Saad Ali Shire didn’t immediately respond to two calls to his mobile and two emails seeking comment. A UAE foreign ministry official didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
If You Voted for Donald Trump, You Owe My Children an Apology
[JohnPavlovitz] If you voted for Donald Trump, you owe my children an apology.
Do tell...
You owe them an apology for making them grow up with a hateful, incompetent, petulant, predatory monster as their President.

For placing their safety in the hands of an impulsive child, who trolls world leaders with nuclear weapons and wields our military like an insecure coward brandishes a gun at a party.
Trust me when I say if you are brandishing a firearm at a party, you are not insecure. Crazy, yes. Insecure, no.
For unleashing the fierce tide of bullying, racism, bigotry, and homophobia they have to see in their classrooms and ball fields and neighborhoods—because the man you chose has repeatedly encouraged and legislated it.
Wait. Wha?
For making them do “shooter drills” at school, because you’ve sanctioned a man who is fully in bed with the NRA, who removes barriers to mentally ill people getting guns, and who does nothing to prevent military weapon proliferation.
First I heard of mentally ill people getting a pass when it comes to guns.
For the terrifying images of a crowd of emboldened, violent, torch wielding Nazis terrorizing a town—and of a President who coddled them afterward.
Huh? As I recall Trump could give a f*ck about Charlottesville.
For the inexplicable disconnect they see in a man claiming to be Christian—while being so devoid of anything remotely resembling Jesus.
"Judge not, lest ye be judged."
It's right there in the Holy Bible.

You owe my daughter an apology for excusing his reprehensible words about women when voting for him; for ignoring the multiple accusations of sexual assault against him, for placing a man with such clear disregard for her at the highest level of leadership in the country she calls home.
Trump leads the government, not the nation. He sure as hell isn't my leader.
You owe my son an apology for taking someone with a lifetime resume of filth and misogyny, and asking him to look up to that man as a leader; for rewarding the very sexist, ignorant, repugnant behavior we implore him never to engage in or abide in those around him.
See above. If you are teaching your kids that elected people are supposed to be leaders and not representatives, you are leading them down a dark path.
You’ve let my children down by thrusting them into an America that is far less secure, less compassionate, less decent, more fractured, and more violent than it was a year ago—and because that truth alters children immersed in it.
And that's just the good things Trump has done.
But lest you think this is just about me, about my family, about my children—be assured it is not.
Oh, thank heaven. I was actually worried.
Yes, you’ve surely failed my children with your vote, and more so with the way you’ve doubled down on the toxicity released over the past year—but you don’t owe an apology to them alone.

You owe your children an apology too.
Really? Do go on.
They too are inheriting this jagged, hateful, angry nation you’ve co-created with your vote. They too are reminded every day by their President, that honesty and integrity and empathy and kindness are of little value; that going low gets the intoxicating applause of the crowd and the affection of the ignorant.

They too will have their personalities, their priorities, their sense of safety, and their very identities formed in the crucible of this scalding hatred Donald Trump presides over and continually cultivates.

If your children one day become ill, they too will have a difficult time affording care or staying alive without going broke.
Obamacare was legislated broken.
They too will have to breathe the air and drink the water and reside on the planet that this President leaves to rot.

They too will be saturated in the enmity and the callousness of this country—and make no mistake it will change who they are. It will change the way they perceive truth and the way they respect differences and the way they value people’s bodies and well-being.
And if that means real change, then it should happen.
And not just my children and not just your children.
FFS!
You owe an apology to every child who has to spend their formative years in an America that is defined by:
fear of the other,
an epidemic of cruelty,
a poverty of decency,
a deadly allergy to facts,
a Christianity of coercion and malice,
a defiant resistance to diversity.
Or what we call Saturday night in Chicago

You owe an apology to every young woman growing up in an America where celebrity preachers vilify assault victims and defend predators, where accusers are tried and offenders elected.
And Trump gets fingered for that?
You owe an apology to every young man who forms his identity in a culture where men can do whatever they want to women and they will rarely be held accountable; where gentleness is a liability and brutality an asset.
Both are assets, actually, if used correctly.
Yes, this horrible stuff existed long before this year, but it’s never had such a powerful and uncontested cheerleader with such an ability to ratify it all—and that’s something that’s on you and that you’ll have to own. That’s just how it is.

So yes, you can puff out your chest online, and posture and boast all you want.
Thank you, but I think I'll pass. The way I hear, love ain't s'posed to be puffed up.
You can cling to the fading lie that you’ve won anything here, or that you’ve somehow struck a blow for America or Jesus or patriotism.

You can tell me to suck it up and to let it go and to f*ck off—which I’m now quite used to.
So why doncha?
But at the end of the day you’ve simply let a lot of people down:
My mom once told me that I could be anything I wanted. So I became a disappointment.
My children.

Your children.

The children of this country and the planet.

They all have lost because you were irresponsible with one of the greatest responsibilities you’ve ever had in their lifetime, and now they have to live with the terrible fallout—and you owe them all an apology.

I’m well aware of what your likely response to all this will be. I don’t imagine an apology will be forthcoming—so I’ll apologize to them on your behalf.
Please. Feel free.
Then, I’ll spend every day living that apology.
Sounds to me you ARE a walking, talking apology.
I’ll remind my children your children and all children, that there are lots of adults who still believe that people are inherently valuable and stunningly beautiful—that not all adults fear brown people and gay people and foreigners and immigrants.
...some of whom quietly voted for The Donald, same as some of the white folks.
I’ll remind them that there are still people committed to the truth and to equality, and the richness found in diversity.

I’ll do my best to make them feel safe and loved and hopeful here, even on the days that I don’t.
You'll be overwhelmed, coz there's a lotta need out there and one sorry socialist can't fix it all. Even while presidenting.
I’ll even teach them to forgive people who fail and hurt them, because I know how difficult that it is right now.
A straight up invitation for gratitude. Hope you can live with yourself.
And I’ll remind them that even when bad people are rewarded, doing the right thing is still the thing most worth doing.

I’ll teach them that when hatred seems the most treasured currency, that love is still worth more than gold.

I’m just sorry that they have to live with something (and someone) far less than they deserve—and they didn’t have to.
The writer is a minister, writer, speaker, and idiot.

#16  As Almostanonynmous has already noted, the poor man has written Trump where the name Obama belongs. IF you make the substitution, his rant is more or less correct, though still overheated.
lets go over it
"For placing their safety in the hands of an impulsive child, who trolls world leaders with nuclear weapons and wields our military like an insecure coward brandishes a gun at a party."
The current threat of nuclear weapons emanates from Iran and North Korea both encouraged by President O
"For unleashing the fierce tide of bullying, racism, bigotry, and homophobia they have to see in their classrooms and ball fields and neighborhoods—because the man you chose has repeatedly encouraged and legislated it"
The fierce tide exists and is directed against white males encouraged by whom?
(I ignore the next paragraph which makes no sense. It is true that O's policies did encourage gun sales, but shooter drills?"
"For the terrifying images of a crowd of emboldened, violent, torch wielding Nazis terrorizing a town—and of a President who coddled them afterward."
I suppose he is referring to Antifa. Images of its behavior are terrifying"
The next paragraph is out of place, It refers to the previous Democrat who was president.
"You owe my son an apology for taking someone with a lifetime resume of filth and misogyny, and asking him to look up to that man as a leader; for rewarding the very sexist, ignorant, repugnant behavior we implore him never to engage in or abide in those around him."
The "Chume Gang" and close association and even dependence on the vile terrorist Bill Ayres (who apparently wrote O's autobiographies) are horrifying, but maybe not that horrifying.
"You’ve let my children down by thrusting them into an America that is far less secure, less compassionate, less decent, more fractured, and more violent than it was a year ago—and because that truth alters children immersed in it."
Obviously this is Obama's legacy but it should refer to eight years rather than one.
Today the almost orgasmic hate we see is directed at Trump, not by him, as this rant illustrates.
The rest of the rant clearly refers to Obama, from the references to medical care failures, coercion by government, allergy to facts, injustice, etc.
I suppose the poor ranter got more and more frustrated by his inability to criticize president O that when able to criticize a president he blurted it all out. It's like someone frustrated by inability to criticize the boss, come home and rants at one's spouse.

US Says Somalia Airstrike Killed More Than 100 Al Shabaab Members
[RadioShabelle] U.S. forces on Tuesday conducted an Arclight airstrike in Somalia against an al-Shabaab

camp, killing more than 100 bad boys, U.S. Africa Command (Africom) said in a statement.

In coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia, the strike happened at 10:30 a.m. local time about 125 miles northwest of Mogadishu, the country’s capital.

"Al-Shabaab has pledged allegiance to al Qaeda and is dedicated to providing safe haven for terrorist attacks throughout the world," Africom said in a statement that has been used in the past as the United States ramps up Arclight airstrikes in the country.

"Al-Shabaab has publicly committed to planning and conducting attacks against the U.S. and our partners in the region."

The U.S. military has roughly 500 troops in Somalia, double the number of forces from a year ago. The United States also has two new military headquarters in Mogadishu.

New authorities granted to the commanders by President Trump in March has given Africom more authority to conduct Arclight airstrikes and raids against the al Qaeda-affiliated al-Shabaab. Before, they were only allowed to carry out strikes in defense of partnered forces.

Top Haqqani network leader among dozens killed in Wardak night operation
[Khaama Press] A top leader of the notorious Haqqani terrorist network was killed along with dozens of other holy warriors in an operation in central Maidan Wardak province of Afghanistan.

According to the local officials, the operation was conducted in the vicinity of Nerkh district of Wardak by the Afghan Special Forces.

Provincial governor’s front man Abdul Rahman Mangsal said the Afghan forces conducted a night operation late on Tuesday night, leaving more than 20 Lions of Islam dead.

He said several commanders of the Taliban

group were also among those killed in the operation.

However,
we can't all be heroes. Somebody has to sit on the curb and applaud when they go by...
another official said more than 30 Lions of Islam including a top leader of the Haqqani terrorist network Qari Qudrullah were killed.

The anti-government armed bully boy groups including the Taliban Lions of Islam have not commented regarding the report so far.

Maidan Wardak is among the relatively volatile provinces in central parts of the country, located close to capital Kabul.

The anti-government armed holy warriors are actively operating in its various districts and often carry out insurgency activities, mainly in the districts lying along the highway connecting Kabul with the southeastern and southern provinces.

is an "illegal collective punishment" of the Yemeni nation, some seven million of whom are on the brink of an appalling famine.

Jan Egeland, a former UN aid chief who now heads the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), made the remarks on Thursday, a day after the Saudi-led military coalition announced that it would partially lift the siege on the impoverished nation and would let humanitarian supplies in.

Egeland, whose charity group has already helped one million Yemenis, welcomed an announcement by the coalition on removing the blockade of Yemen’s western port city of Hudaydah and the international airport of the capital city of Sana’a, but said, "We only have it in writing now and haven’t seen it happen."

Ansarullah fighters targeted an international airport near the Saudi capital, Riyadh, with a cruise missile in retaliation for ceaseless bombardment of Yemen by the Saudi war machine over the past two and a half years.

The Saudi military, however, announced that it had intercepted the missile, which apparently reached the deepest parts within the Saudi territory.

Interpol arrests 40 human traffickers after Libya slave auction
[PRESSTV] At least 40 people have been detained during a swoop on human trafficking across West Africa, after a video surfaced showing refugees apparently being sold at auction in Libya.

In a statement on Thursday, Interpol said those incarcerated
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
face prosecution for offences including human trafficking, forced labor and child exploitation.

"They are accused of forcing victims to engage in activities ranging from begging to prostitution, with little to no regard for working conditions or human life," the statement read.

Interpol also noted that some 500 people, including 236 minors, had been rescued in simultaneous operations across Chad, Mali, Mauritania, Niger and Senegal
... a nation of about 14 million on the west coast of Africa bordering Mauretania to the north, Mali to the east, and a pair of Guineas to the south, one of them Bissau. It is 90 percent Mohammedan and has more than 80 political parties. Its primary purpose seems to be absorbing refugees...
"The results of this operation underline the challenge faced by law enforcement and all stakeholders in addressing human trafficking in the Sahel region
... North Africa's answer to the Pak tribal areas...
," the operation's coordinator Innocentia Apovo said.

The Interpol-led action comes amid global outcry sparked by footage of Africans being sold as slaves in Libya. CNN last week aired footage of a live auction in Libya where black men were being sold for as little as $400 to North African buyers as farmhands.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has recently said that the reported auctions of African refugees in Libya as slaves amounts to "crimes against humanity."

"Although ISIS reached its end in Iraq and Syria, one should not ignore the deception of enemies as the US, Zionism and the lackeys will not stop the animosity against Islam and they may hatch and implement a plot similar to ISIS and the likes in another region," said the Leader.

Ayatollah Khamenei was speaking at a Thursday meeting with a group of scholars who attended an international conference on countering Takfirism in the Iranian capital, Tehran.

The Leader further underlined the Islamic Theocratic Republic’s determination to stand against any plot by Israel and global arrogance to instigate wars among Moslems, noting that Iran will emerge victorious in such a campaign as it did so in its fight against ISIS in Iraq and Syria.

Black Friday is not coming to Germany, it's already here
[DW] Searching for bargains on Black Friday and Cyber Monday is quickly spreading across the globe as retailers are using what was once a truly American tradition for their advantage.

Now Germans, who don't even celebrate Thanksgiving and are not known for splashing out extravagantly, fear that this retailing development is on the march. Their fears are overstated, because this phenomenon has already arrived. Last year, around 16 percent of Germans shopped online on Black Friday looking for steep discounts.

The German Trade Association (HDE) says that last year Black Friday and Cyber Monday taken together brought online sales of around €1.7 billion ($2 billion), which works out to be €170 per person on Black Friday and €120 per person on Cyber Monday. This year will surely top that.

Why is Joe Biden not more well known as a creepy pedo pervert? Video shows him groping and stroking children.
Ugh. "No dates until you're 30"

In other words:

"The first thing you make me think of is sex, and I'm saying this out loud in the hopes that it makes it less apparent"

Yeah, creepy first words to say to a kid. If Joe Biden did and said things like this to your kid, what would you do?

Egypt police kill 3 Islamists in shootout
[IsraelTimes] Egyptian police potted three alleged Islamist faceless myrmidons in a shootout and incarcerated
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
nine belonging to the Lewaa al-Thawra
...The Revolution Brigade, which along with Hasm (Decisiveness or Determination) is one of the fighting arms of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, established to fight back against the overthrow of President Morsi...
group that assassinated an army general last year, the country’s Interior Ministry says.

Lewaa al-Thawra surfaced in 2016 to claim several attacks in Cairo, including the liquidation of an army brigadier general outside his suburban home in October.

Police have accused the blacklisted Moslem Brüderbund movement of ousted president Mohammed Morsi of directing the group.

The interior ministry says police carried out raids against members of the group in the provinces of Cairo, Giza, Beheira, and Kafr el-Sheikh.

In one of the raids in Beheira on a hideout used to make bombs the suspects opened fire as police approached, triggering a shootout in which three "Brotherhood terrorist elements" were killed, the ministry says.

It does not say when the raids occurred.

Nonagenarian President-for-Life of Zim-bob-we who turned the former Breadbasket of Africa into the African Basket Case...
won’t face prosecution and is free to remain in the southern African nation following his resignation on Tuesday after 37 years in power.

"There aren’t any plans for former President Robert Mugabe; he’s free to stay in Zim-bob-we and he won’t face prosecution," Simon Khaya Moyo, a front man for the ruling Zim-bob-we African National Union-Patriotic Front, said Thursday by phone. "We don’t have anything against him or his family. He’s the hero of our liberation."

Emmerson Mnangagwa, 75, is due to be sworn in on Friday to replace Mugabe, who’s ruled since independence in 1980. Moyo said he didn’t think any members of the opposition would be included in the new administration.

IS, which uses messaging application Telegram to broadcast daily updates on military operations and claims of attacks, published nothing between 0900 GMT on Wednesday and 1001 GMT on Thursday.

Charlie Winter, senior research fellow at the International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation and Political Violence, calls the silence "unprecedented."

IS’s Telegram channels usually post more than a dozen messages each day, ranging from multilingual radio broadcasts on battlefield achievements to pictures of civilian life in the group’s self-styled "caliphate."

Somali Govt Troops Targeted In IED Blast In Mogadishu
[RadioShabelle] A roadside kaboom kaboom in Mogadishu has left at least one Somali soldier dead on Wednesday, witnesses said.

The troops were targeted with an improvised bomb (IED) during a security patrol near Tarabunka junction in the capital’s Hodon district.

Three Muslim clerics attacked 'for covering their head' aboard Indian train
[DAWN] Three Moslem holy mans were attacked by a group of men with sharp objects aboard a train in India's Uttar Pradesh state, India Today reported on Thursday.

According to India Today, the three holy mans were attacked by six to seven men who also allegedly tried to throw them off the train.

The holy mans reportedly had an argument with their assailants over covering their heads, who attacked them with iron rods and sticks as they got off the train.

The men ‐ Maulvi Gulzar, Israr and Abrar ‐ have all been admitted to a hospital, India Today reported.

The three men, who boarded a passenger train at Delhi last night, were on their way to a village in Baghpat when they had a tiff with some youth who allegedly beat them up, the daily quoted Superintendent of Police Baghpat Jaiprakash Singh as saying.

A first investigation report has been registered against unknown assailants and the case is being transferred to Railway Police.

Hamas member nabbed entering Israel spills info on Gaza tunnels
[IsraelTimes] IDF says Ahmad Magdi Muhammad Avid, caught as he crossed border fence from Paleostinian enclave, was active for years with terror group.

A member of Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",’s military wing, captured after he entered Israeli territory from the Gazoo Strip, has provided Israeli Sherlocks with a wealth of information about the terror group’s tunneling operations, the IDF said Thursday.

In a statement, the army said Ahmad Magdi Muhammad Avid, 23, from Shejaiya in the Gazoo Strip, was captured on September 27 after crossing the border fence in northern Gazoo. He was not armed at the time of his capture and the army did not say what his purpose was for crossing the heavily guarded border.

Avid was a member of the Hamas military wing, which he joined in 2013. He trained in the use of anti-tank weapons, military engineering operations, and sniping. He was also involved in tunnel digging in the area of Shejaiya and was a member of the Hamas border patrol forces.

During his interrogation, Avid gave up a considerable amount of information about the Hamas tunneling operation in the Gazoo Strip, including attack tunnels leading into Israel and tunnels inside Gazoo intended for use in battles against the IDF, the statement said.

"The investigation of Ahmad Avid once again revealed Hamas’s terror activities, using tunnels to advance terrorist activity against Israel," the army said.

He was indicted on October 23 at the Beersheba District Court on "serious" security-related charges, the army said, though it did not specify.

On October 30, Israel blew up an attack tunnel leading into Israeli territory that was being dug by the Paleostinian Islamic Jihad

Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. Afghanistan
US strikes on Taliban opium labs won't work, say Afghan farmers
[AlAhram] As U.S. and Afghan forces pound Taliban
...Arabic for students...
drug factories this week, farmers in the country's largest opium producing-province and narcotics experts say the strategy just repeats previous failed efforts to stamp out the trade.

U.S. Army General John Nicholson, who heads NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis....
-led forces in Afghanistan, announced on Monday a new strategy of attacking opium factories, saying he wanted to hit the Taliban "where it hurts, in their narcotics financing".

Critics say the policy risks further civilian casualties and turning large swathes of the population dependent on poppy cultivation against the Afghan government.

"The Taliban will not be affected by this as much as ordinary people," said Mohammad Nabi, a poppy farmer in Nad Ali district in the southern province of Helmand
...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan...
, the heartland of opium production.

"Farmers are not growing poppies for fun. If factories are closed and businesses are gone, then how will they provide food for their families?"
How did they do so before they turned to opium in recent years?
Opium production in Afghanistan reached record highs this year, up 87 percent, according to the United Nations
...an organization which on balance has done more bad than good, with the good not done well and the bad done thoroughly...
The U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) said last week that output of opium from poppy seeds in Afghanistan, the world's main source of heroin, stood at around 9,000 metric tons in 2017, worth an estimated $1.4 billion on leaving the farms.

In Helmand, cultivation area increased 79 percent.
See? More farmers taking up the trade, and those previously involved increased their acreage devoted to the crop. So they can go back to whatever they did before.
Publicising the new strategy, which he said was open-ended, Nicholson showed one video of an F-22 fighter jet dropping 250-pound bombs on two buildings, emphasising that a nearby third building was left unscathed.

U.S. troops have long been accused of causing unnecessary collateral damage and civilian deaths. The United States says it takes every precaution to avoid civilian casualties.

The four-star general emphasised that farmers were not the targets.

"They are largely compelled to grow the poppy and this is kind of a tragic part of the story," said Nicholson.

"WHACK-A-MOLE"
Experts, however, question whether the new strategy will have an impact on Taliban financing.
Of course they do. Or ar least the experts quoted by the journalists do. Any other experts are like trees falling unheard in the forest.
"All these things have been tried before and not produced effective results. If they had, we wouldn't be where we are now," said Orzala Nemat, director of the Kabul-based Afghanistan Research and Evaluation Unit, which has been researching the country's drug trade for a decade and a half.

Another analyst said it was simply a futile game of "whack-a-mole."

Those familiar with the drug industry in Afghanistan said it would only take three or four days to replace a lab, which generally has a low sunk-cost.
Get inside their replacement loop, and that will change.
They also say it was not just the Taliban involved in Afghanistan's drug trade.

"Drugs are elemental to the political economy of Afghanistan, to those who rule and to those who oppose that rule," said one analyst, asking not to be named.

Prior to being ousted by U.S.-led forces in 2001, the Taliban virtually eliminated the trade, saying it was forbidden by Islam.
And then, realizing how much money there was to be made, they restarted it under their own control. This explains their current involvement.
The United States and its Western allies, the Afghan government and United Nations have made repeated efforts since to eradicate poppy cultivation, including encouraging farmers to cultivate alternatives such as saffron, spraying poppy fields with herbicide, and destroying labs.

However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
they have not made any serious headway in stemming the rise in drug production.
They haven’t been consistently serious about it.
The issue underlines problems faced by the Afghan government and its allies, as they seek to cut off a major source of financing for the Taliban and stem the flow of drugs to Europe.

The Taliban said that U.S. forces were mistaken in their targeting and were hitting civilians.
Yes, but they are the Taliban’s civilians, which makes them a good deal less civilian than other civilians.
"There are no drug producing factories in these areas. Invading Americans are carrying out these attacks based on false information and to make propaganda, which most of its victims are civilians," said Taliban front man Qari Yousuf Ahmadi on Wednesday.
That is one perspective, to be sure.
Although World Bank projections show Afghanistan's economy picking up modestly, the improvement is more than offset by population growth, leaving many in rural areas saying they have no alternative to growing poppies.
Educating the girls will go far to fix that problem. Making birth control available will take care of the rest.
"The government must provide jobs so people can feed their families and survive," said poppy farmer Haji Daoud in Sangin, Helmand. "It should provide security and infrastructure."

The USPS (as best I can tell) will deliver all packages from foreign sources even if they have not passed any customs inspection, and even if the post office has no information about what the package contains or whence it originated. It is far cheaper to ship parcels from China to a US address than it is to ship parcels within the US. It is known that the deadly drug carfentanyl is being shipped into the USA this way.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Texas Governor Abbott Received Explosive Package. He Escaped Death Because He Opened It The Wrong Way.
[DAILYWIRE] In October 2016, a Texas woman sent packages laden with explosives to Governor Greg Abbott, President Barack Obama
teachable moment...
and Commissioner of the Social Security Administration Carolyn Colvin. The only reason Abbott was not either severely burned or killed was that he did not open the package as designed.

According to court documents, Julia Poff, 46, was reportedly angry at Abbott because she had not received support from her ex-husband. The package to Obama was detected in screening and rendered safe. The package to Colvin was reportedly motivated by the fact that Poff had applied for Social Security benefits and been denied.

Poff tried to learn the identity of witnesses talking to the FBI and the grand jury, asking her friends not to talk to the FBI. She had been fired from her job at a law firm because she had stolen money from a client.

The court documents stated Poff had been evicted seven times for non-payment of rent, leaving the premises in disrepair with actions including pouring concrete in drains, stuffing potatoes in toilets, and dogs locked in for a week left to defecate and urinate.

The court said that because the evidence against Poff was so strong, it enhanced the risk of Poff fleeing; it also said she represented a safety risk to the community.

Poff was charged last week with Injurious Articles as Nonmailable and Transportation of Explosives with the Intent to Kill and Injure.

Europe
Trio Suspected of Providing Weapons to Charlie Hebdo Attackers Arrested
[Breitbart] Two men and one woman were jugged
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
by French authorities Monday, suspected of providing weapons to the Islamist murderous Moslems who attacked the offices of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo
...A lefty French satirical magazine, home of what may well be the majority if the active testicles left in Europe...
in 2015.

Two of the arrests took place in Haute-Marne and in the Ardennes on Monday and another on Tuesday. A 28-year-old woman along with two men, one aged 46, were taken into custody as French Sherlocks suspect they may have had a role in procuring weapons for the terror attackers L’Express reports.

The arrests are just the latest in a series of arrests related to the terror attack in which Islamist brothers Sherif and Said Kouachi bumped off twelve people including two coppers and eight employees of Charlie Hebdo. Some of the arrests were also linked to the Kosher supermarket terror attack committed by Amédy Coulibaly who killed four Jewish men.

A total of thirteen individuals have been arrested in connection with both of the attacks including many who are believed to have provided logistical support to Amédy Coulibaly.

Despite the attacks occurring two and a half years ago, authorities have yet to determine where the murderous Moslems obtained their automatic weaponry. While they have attempted to crack into encrypted messaging applications, so far police have had trouble coming up with any concrete leads.

Military-grade weapons have been found on several occasions in La Belle France in recent months in various raids relating to drugs and organised crime. Last week police arrested four men in the regions of Eure-et-Loir, Eure and Yvelines after locating a massive weapons arsenal that included loaded anti-tank rocket launchers, automatic rifles and other military-style weapons.

While the raids that have turned up such weapons have been primarily linked to drug rings, other countries have noticed an overlap between narco gangs and radical Islamists.

In Germany, authorities arrested nine Syrian asylum seekers in July who were not only linked to radical Islamism but were part of the illegal narcotics scene as well.

Berlin Christmas Market terror attacker Anis Amri was also suspected of dealing drugs. Many have criticised Berlin police for not using the opportunity to deport the failed Tunisian asylum seeker before he committed the terror attack as they discovered his drug dealing a full month prior.

Africa Horn
Kenyan Shabaab Leader Flees After Fallout
[RadioShabelle] A Kenyan who rose through al-Shabaab
... an Islamic infestation centering on Somalia...
ranks to become the poster boy for the terrorist organization is on the run after falling out with other commanders who want him executed.

Ahmed Iman alias Kimanthi, who appeared in numerous al-Shabaab propaganda videos taunting Kenyan troops fighting in Somalia, the group’s stronghold, is now seeking to surrender to Kenyan forces and get amnesty, the Nation has learnt.

Until the row, he was close to the current al-Shabaab supremo Ahmed Diriye and Mahad Karate, also known as Abdirahim Mohammed Warsame, who commanded Shabaab’s Amniyat, its intelligence wing, when button men stormed Garissa University College and killed 147 students in April 2015.

In the video clips, which are unavailable after they were pulled down by YouTube, Iman says the killings were carried out to avenge the killing of radical Moslem holy mans.

In those videos, he named the holy mans as Aboud Rogo, Samir Khan and Sheikh Abubakar Shariff alias Makaburi.

International security sources operating in Somalia told the Nation that Iman has been the head of a group of imported muscle who together with him, are now on the run from the main group loyal to Diriye and Karate.

A number of Kenyans and other foreigners who joined al-Shabaab snuffies in Somalia have since been captured and executed.

On November 6, a 25-year-old Kenyan from Garissa was among four people who were publicly executed by the snuffies in Somalia.

Omar Adar Omar was killed by firing squad on accusations of spying for the Africa Union Mission in Somalia, which comprises the Kenya Defence Forces.

The fall-out is further complicated after the emergence of a faction that has pledged allegiance to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
in Syria, while Diriye’s group maintains its formal partnership with al-Qaeda in Afghanistan.

The Nation has further learnt that Iman, in a bid to escape from Somalia, has evaded several dragnets to capture him.

Al-Shabaab is well known for executing bully boyz within its own ranks whenever there is a fallout.

The latest developments are a repeat of what happened to Fazul Abdullah Mohammed, who was killed in a set up laid by Godane Ahmed Abdi Godane alias Mukhtar Abu Zubeyr, who was Diriye’s predecessor.

Godane was later killed in a joint operation by US and KDF in Somalia.

Besides assuming the role of commander of imported muscle in Somalia, Iman also has a great influence in Jaish Ayman, another al-Shabaab faction operating in Boni Forest which spreads across the Kenya-Somalia border in Lamu County.

Furthermore, Iman is also said to be getting foreign funding directly, further angering indigenous Somali commanders, the sources also said.

A 2016 security report published by the Nation, revealed that Iman and accomplices in Nairobi collected millions of shillings every year by renting shops and kiosks in Umoja and Majengo, and the money is smuggled to Somalia to fund terrorism activities.

In one al-Shabaab propaganda video, he was seen clad in KDF uniform, holding a walkie-talkie and an M-16 rifle, which he claimed was one of the arms looted from El-Adde Forward Operating Base, which was overran by the snuffies in January 2016.

Besides Kenya, whose soldiers are operating in southern Somalia, al-Shabaab is also being fought by the US and other countries in Amisom, including Æthiopia, Uganda, Burundi and Djibouti.

In Russia, Sudan’s Bashir asks Putin for ‘protection’ from US
[IsraelTimes] Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir
Head of the National Congress Party. He came to power in 1989 when he, as a brigadier in the Sudanese army, led a group of officers in a bloodless military coup that ousted the government of Prime Minister Sadiq al-Mahdi and eventually appointed himself president-for-life. He has fallen out with his Islamic mentor, Hasan al-Turabi, tried to impose shariah on the Christian and animist south, resulting in its secessesion, and attempted to Arabize Darfur by unleashing the barbaric Janjaweed on it. Sudan's potential prosperity has been pissed away in warfare that has left as many as 400,000 people dead and 2.5 million displaced. Omar has been indicted for genocide by the International Criminal Court but nothing is expected to come of it.
, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court for genocide and war crimes, asks Russia’s Vladimir Putin
...Second and fourth President and sixth of the Russian Federation and the first to remain sober. Putin is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from polonium poisoning. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to Putin. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead...
to protect his country from the United States.

Speaking during his first visit to Russia as president, Bashir also says he wanted to ramp up military ties and praised Moscow’s military campaign in Syria.

"We have been dreaming about this visit for a long time," the Sudanese president tells Putin at the Black Sea resort of Sochi. "We are thankful to Russia for its position on the international arena, including Russia’s position in the protection of Sudan. We are in need of protection from the aggressive acts of the United States."

The visit came a month after the United States lifted a trade embargo it imposed on the impoverished African state in 1997 over Khartoum’s alleged backing of Islamist myrmidon groups. US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
also removed Sudan from a list of countries facing a US travel ban.

Sudan’s deadly conflict in Darfur broke out in 2003 when ethnic minority groups took up arms against Bashir’s Arab-dominated government, which launched a brutal counter-insurgency. The UN says at least 300,000 people have been killed and more than 2.5 million displaced as a result of the conflict.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Hamas remotely strengthens grip on West Bank
[Ynet] Deputy Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, chief al-Arouri, tasked with creating, administering organization's civilian, military infrastructure appointed West Bank 'shadow gov't' that oversees area from countries such as Leb, Jordan without fear of arrest by Israeli, PA forces; Hamas uses charitable organizations, youth clubs as front for operations.

Hamas has been struggling for over a decade with creating either civilian or military infrastructures in the West Bank due to the daily pressure it is constantly under, with the IDF and Shin Bet pressuring from one end and the Paleostinian Security Forces from the other.

In fact, Hamas operatives are jugged
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
nightly for trying to lay the groundwork for such infrastructure as well as for creating local cells in Paleostinian villages and towns in the area.

Hamas's newly-appointed deputy chief Saleh al-Arouri has been tasked with constructing and directing his organization's military and civilian infrastructures in the West Bank. In his previous position, al-Arouri founded and headed Hamas's "West Bank Headquarters."

Al-Arouri, who is said to possess a strategic mind, has come to the realization over the past two years that Hamas's conduct in the West Bank has to change to gain any real foothold there. He therefore came up with a plan that had Hamas construct a sort of "mirror image" of the West Bank abroad.

The Hamas deputy chief tasked some of the organization's representatives in Jordan, the Gulf countries and Leb with responsibilities relating to West Bank operations. Those representatives' main advantage is they're immune from arrest due to their geographic locations, and can orchestrate operations safely from afar.

These operations include raising and transferring funds using money changers, money laundering, and smuggling cash through passengers entering the West Bank at the Allenby Border Crossing.

Most of the people Hamas placed in the aforementioned positions‐some of which were prisoners released in the Gilad Shalit prisoner swap and deported to other countries‐were either born or raised in the West Bank and the specific sectors they oversee.

By implementing this new policy‐much bolstered over the past year‐those same representatives can thusly hold meetings without fear of reprisal, formulate strategies as to Hamas's West Bank operations, coordinate the policy's implantation and discuss how funds dedicated to the West Bank should be allocated.

Al-Arouri presides over all of their actions, and makes sure to be well informed of all goings-on in the West Bank despite his lofty stature and other responsibilities. His clever methodology does not end there, however, as he has commenced a policy according to which Hamas will downplay and mask his true intentions by operating charitable institutions, youth clubs and social activities not immediately synonymous with Hamas.

It is for this reason that Hamas banners or photos of its leaders are never hung in the offices of the abovementioned organizations or displayed during their activities. The people administering them are not clearly affiliated with Hamas, and yet people attending their events know Hamas provides the money and support for them, which helps win over the locals' hearts and minds.

Hamas then does its absolute best to insert as much money as it can into the West Bank and then divvies it according to it needs. Families of holy warriors receive funds without any return expected of them, which effectively buys their support of Hamas.

While Hamas is now investing more funds in developing civilian infrastructures to build a popular support base, it has not forsaken attempts‐mostly directed from Gazoo‐to create small military bands to carry out terrorist attacks, another field under the watchful gaze of al-Arouri.

Court Documents -- Fusion GPS Paid Individual Journalists and Five Media Companies
[THECONSERVATIVETREEHOUSE] What a tangled web is weaved…. Hillary Clinton paid her lawyers at Perkins Coie for opposition research on candidate Donald Trump. In turn Perkins Coie paid Fusion GPS to gather information. Fusion GPS paid Christopher Steele to write the “Russian Dossier”.

The FBI also paid Christopher Steele. Additionally, prior evidence surfaced suggesting the FBI used the dossier to get FISA warrants against the Trump campaign. And NOW we discover that Fusion GPS paid journalists and five media companies to participate.

Oh, if this ain’t just sketchy as all hell:
WASHINGTON – Newly filed court documents confirm that Fusion GPS, the company mostly responsible for the controversial “Trump dossier” on presidential candidate Donald Trump, made payments to three journalists between June 2016 until February 2017.

The revelation could be a breakthrough for House Republicans, who are exploring whether Fusion GPS used the dossier, which was later criticized for having inaccurate information on Trump, to feed anti-Trump stories to the press during and after the presidential campaign. The three journalists who were paid by Fusion GPS are known to have reported on “Russia issues relevant to [the committee’s] investigation,” the House Intelligence Committee said in a court filing.

But the recipients’ names, the amounts, and purposes of those payments were either redacted from the documents that Fusion GPS filed to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia or were not disclosed.

Fusion has asked the court to issue a restraining order against the House committee, which is demanding documents from the company that, among other things, explain the payments it made to reporters. Most of the documents sought are banking records.

One of the documents filed by the company this week was an affidavit from one of Fusion GPS’s co-founders, Peter Fritsch. That affidavit said, in part, “[The House Intelligence Committee] has also demanded records related to transactions between Fusion GPS and certain journalists — i.e., Request Nos. 66, 68-69, 107-112. Those requested records involve transactions that are not pertinent to work related to Russia or Donald Trump.” (read more)
Things could get a whole lot more interesting if Kimberley Strassel is correct in her research and analysis of how the Clinton Campaign paid for the creation of the “Steele Dossier”, pushed it to the FBI, and then used their influence to generate media coverage of it. There’s a lot more questions to be asked; a lot more.

#1  The FBI also paid Christopher Steele. Additionally, prior evidence surfaced suggesting the FBI used the dossier to get FISA warrants against the Trump campaign. And NOW we discover that Fusion GPS paid journalists and five media companies to participate.

So in addition to illegally obtained FISA warrants, we've got the FBI with long-time Clinton surrogate Jim Comey at the helm [using the dossier as the same vehicle] laundering money through Fusion to finance the media campaign against Donald Trump.

Running concurrently are the 'bash Trump' efforts of an endless line of former CIA/DNI directors and assistant directors.

That Christopher Steele chap, what an absolute genius [sarc off]. Tom Clancey must be shaking his head in the heavens. By the way, anyone see or heard from Steele ?

Who could have possibly devised such a fiendish scheme ?

#5  Since Steele got his information from high ranking officials in the Russian government, does this not mean that the whole effort represented Russian influence on the 2016 election.
This includes the payment of $1 million by the Clinton campaign, the dissemination of the document produced to the FBI and the press, the collusion of the bought press, the use of the document by the FBI to get FISA warrants, the investigation of the Trump campaign, the collusion of high FBI officials with all this, FBI payments and investigations of the Trump campaign, Comey's machinations, and even the Rosenstein appointment of a special investigator. ALL OF THIS brought about by RUSSIAN INFLUENCE. IT goes beyond the 2016 campaign to the PRESENT TIME.

#6  So paying honorariums to media companies and journalists to get the dossier into play???

Tell me again who was trying to manipulate the election.

I still think the dossier was part of the reason Trump won. The average citizen saw right through the entire episode as a Clinton dirty trick and refused to be swayed by it. The media kept playing it and it turned out to be counter intuitive, the more they played it, the fewer people believed it.

Only the looney left would invent a document and then take it as an act of faith that it was true. Reinforces Herr Detroit Goebbels about the ole "repeat a lie long enough" thing.

India-Pakistan
Misuse of faith
[DAWN] A RECENTLY launched collection of Hamza Alavi’s papers and speeches should be a timely reminder to us about the role that faith has come to play in Pakistain’s politics. Translated into Urdu by Dr Riaz Ahmad Sheikh (dean of Social Sciences, Szabist), Tashkeel-e-Pakistain: Mazhab aur Secularism leaves no one in doubt about the misuse of religion by our leaders to gain advantages in public life at the expense of the people’s well-being and the national interest.

Hamza Alavi, who was a Marxist scholar recognised in world academia, firmly believed that the founder of this country never sought to set up a theocratic state. Yet that is the direction in which Pakistain appears to be heading.

Much has been written and said about the exploitation of religion in the country to marginalise the minority communities and the non-mainstream Moslem sects. Religion has also been misused to try and suppress the freedom of expression and to unleash violence and extremism in order to concentrate influence ‐ and ultimately power ‐in the hands of a right-wing, religious oligarchy
... derived from the Greek words oligos, a few and the verb archo, to rule, to govern, to command. Oligarchies are invariably effectual rather than established, to whit, they disguise themselves as other systems, working as the real government behind the face of of democracy, fascism, socialism, monarchy, or what have you...
Perhaps the most dangerous aspect of this phenomenon has been the use of faith in our foreign, defence and strategic policies. Religious symbolism was employed from the start in the security establishment. Initially, it was more to mobilise the soldiers, so no one thought twice about the use of religious slogans such as ’Allah-o-Akbar’ and titles such as Nishan-e-Haider. But then we went much further. The word ’jihad’ was also used by the security establishment to justify action that may not be universally acceptable in the eyes of modern-day international law.

The rise of Islamist extremism that has spawned myriads of bully boy groups in the Middle East and South Asia was initially facilitated by the introduction of rigid interpretations of faith in public life. With extremism opening a Pandora’s box, it is difficult to see how such misuse will ever be checked.

What is worrying is that this approach was not only used to try and gain our own strategic goals and foreign policy objectives. Successive governments also allowed outsiders to use religion on our behalf. Remember how we fought Charlie Wilson’s war in Afghanistan as proxies for the US dubbing the guerillas as "freedom fighters" engaged in jihad. Now we know better ‐ as has been recounted by Zbigniew Brzezinski, Jimmy Carter
... the worst president ever. Maybe the second worst. The votes aren't all in yet...
’s security adviser ‐ that the ’godless’ Russians were lured into Afghanistan by the Carter administration. Gulbadin Hekmatyar and colleagues were mobilised in Afghanistan in July 1979. The use of the religion card was evident to evoke a military response from the Soviets in December 1979. That was to trap the Russians in their Afghan ’Vietnam’.

This approach was also formerly seen in India-held Kashmire. The various lashkars that roamed freely in this region were said to be the creation of our security establishment, and held up as our ’strategic assets’. The aura of faith that surrounded them gave them extraordinary protection especially in the public perception. So powerful had they become that our foreign policy was seen as being held hostage to their wishes.

Against this backdrop, the situation has now taken a serious turn with the entry of Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
in the White House and his announcement of a new South Asian strategy in August. A key feature of this new policy was spelt out by Trump as, "Pakistain will have to stop providing safe-haven for terrorists. ... That must change immediately."

We have not been told about the tactic the US plans to employ to achieve this end. Given Mr Trump’s performance, it would be unwise to believe that it will be business as usual. No official announcement has been made about the outcome of the American secretary of state’s visit to Pakistain apart from the outpouring of scorn from our leaders.

It is time we were told about what Mr Rex Tillerson had to say apart from his ’expectation’ that the 75 ’terrorists’ whose names were given to Pakistain should be handed over to the US or information about their whereabouts be provided. How will the security establishment react to this demand?

In this context the New York Time’s report of Oct 17 carries certain implications. According to the NYT the US had planned to send in SEALs to rescue the American/Canadian couple kidnapped by the Haqqani network four years ago. The family had been sighted by US drones. Reportedly, Pakistain went into action to recover the hostages when Washington gave the message, "Resolve this or the United States will."

Is this report to be believed? One cannot help but recall the US helicopter operation of 2011 that saw SEALs entering Pakistain territory to kill the late Osama bin Laden
... who is no longer with us, and won't be again...
? Are similar incursions to be expected to destroy the alleged safe havens set up in the name of religion?

Bangladeshi blogger ‘hit list’ revealed by militants detained in India
[Dhaka Tribune] Two Bangladeshi forces of Evil recently apprehended in Kolkata had plans to murder bloggers in Bangladesh, the Indian Special Task force (STF) has said.

On Tuesday, Kolkata police incarcerated
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
three people including two Bangladeshi nationals ‐ Samsad Mian alias Tanvir (26), along with Rizaul Islam alias Riyaz ‐ from near Kolkata railway station.

A 32mm pistol, a flash drive, al-Qaeda documents on how to make explosives, and religious documents in both English and Hindi were recovered from their possession.

According to a report in the Times of India, the forces of Evil had links with Ansar-al-Islam and had made a new "hit list" of Bangladeshi bloggers who they wanted to eliminate, naming Farukh Sadiq as their No.1 target.

A senior officer told the Times of India that none of the arrested are part of the core strike team.

The Times of India reported that at least six arms ‐ of 7.32 mm and 9mm ‐ have been smuggled through the porous India-Bangladesh border in the past six months by Ansarullah modules.

Sources said arms smuggler Monotosh De smuggled weapons through other Ansarullah members but there are two other smugglers based in West Bengal who are directly dealing with Ansar-al-Islam, which used to be known as Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) and has been banned in Bangladesh in March.

Quoting the sources, Times of India said the particular module ‐ especially Tanvir, along with Riyaz ‐ were instructed to procure chemicals like ammonium nitrate from shops in Kolkata.

Stating that the duo entered India in July 2016, Lalbazar sources said an agent took the two Bangladeshis to Manegura area in Hyderabad, where many Bangladeshis are employed in slaughterhouses and mutton factories.

Tanvir and Riyaz worked in Hyderabad for around three months before the company they work for was a closed down.

Later, they moved to Belgaum in north Karnataka and began working in a similar factory along with a few other Bangladeshis.

Igor Plotnitsky, former president of the breakaway republic of Lugansk, left his capital on Thursday, according to Russian and Ukrainian news accounts.

Plotnitsky's forced departure from Lugansk and Ukraine comes after a tumultuous three and a half year term as president, which saw him weather charges of murdering some of his formation commanders, and a car bomb attack against him last summer.

According to a news item which appeared in novorosinform.org, Plotnitsky left Lugansk city with a motorcade which included his personal security detail. He was allowed entry at the Izvarino Border Control Point. His security detail were not allowed to enter Russia with him, and were forced to return to Lugansk.

As a matter of disclosure, novorosinform.org is a product of former reserve FSB Colonel Igor Girkin, the Russian operative who aided in starting the rebellion that took over Lugansk and Donetsk. Colonel Girkin said a few years back in a radio interview in St. Petersburg, that he was primarily responsible for the takeover of Crimea.

The most immediate cause for Plotnitsky's departure was when he fired the head of the Lugansk Ministry for State Security, Igor Cornet, on November 20th. Cornet refused to go.

The issue between the two appeared to be Plotnitsky's charge of a coup, which emerged just before the bombing attack on him in early August. Since that time, two more incidents have taken place, relative to the problems Plotnitsky was having.

The first was the murder of two Lugansk People's Republic deputies for the People's Council, a legislative body for Lugansk.

Anatoly Krivonosov and Inna Kuznetsova, a married couple, were found murdered on the night of 26 to 27 August, 2017 in a house in the Kamennobrodsky district of Lugansk. Both were fighters in the early days of the rebellion. Krivonosov was formerly commander of the Dawn battalion. At one point in 2014 during the fighting, Plotnitsky held that post as well.

Almost three weeks later came the news from a leaked transcript of comments from a closed session of the Duma by Russian deputy prime minister Dmitry Kozakin. The transcript indicated that Russia was considering reducing its financial support of the two breakaway republics, Donetsk and Lugansk. According to a regnum.ru article, which first reported the remarks, money being used to support the two republics would be shifted to two other projects.

The first project was infrastructure improvements for Kaliningrad, to include money to build a new ferry, and money for fiber optic cable for the region.

The second was monies for unspecified projects in the recently annexed Crimea.

According to data supplied by the Russian sponsored news website, Russkaya Vesna (Russian Spring), two days after Cornet's refusal to leave the MVD, Cornet issued a report that Plotnitsky's charges of a coup against his government contained elements that were falsified.

The two alleged leaders of the coup, Vitaly Kiselyov and Gennady Tsypkalov were detained at the time in late fall of 2016 on charges of fomenting the attack on Plotnitsky's government. Tsypkalov was allegedly tortured to death of unidentified persons working for Plotnistky, probably from the same Ministry of State Security headed by Cornet.

The report specifically named Lugansk Attorney General Aleksey Oleinik, and were confirmed by the head of investigations in the Lugansk attorney general's office, Leonid Tkachenko, effectively implicating Tkachenko in charges of falsifying criminal charges.

The issues of falsification of charges came from a statement made by Alexander Semenchenko, who was formerly an employee with the Lugansk prosecutor's office. A current official in Plotnistky's government, Minister of Agriculture Ruslan Sorokovenko, had previously uncovered misconduct within Plotnitsky's government, especially the Attorney General’s office, in what has been described a "grave crimes", a Russian euphemism for murder.

Among the many problems Plotitsky had was his ability to say the right things in public, and his drive to trade with the Ukrainians. Many of his problems with his, now dead, formation commanders was their grumbling that Plotnitsky was trading coal and grain to the Ukrainians for cash. Most of the commanders in Lugansk were ethnic Cossacks, and nearly all but a few are now dead. Plotnitsky and his government disclaim their responsibility for those deaths.

Although Plotnitsky stated on more than one occasion his desire to return Lugansk to Russian control, a news story was leaked this month, probably a planted story, that he was open to returning Lugansk to Ukrainian control.

As for the troops on the streets of the capitol of Lugansk, according to Camopedia, their camouflage pattern suggests they are Lugansk MVD, although Russian MVD troops have been known to use the pattern as well. Their AK-74s appear to be well worn, suggesting they were reissued from Russian government stocks some time ago.

Great White North
Canada Attempts To Deport Illegal Somali Immigrants
[RadioShabelle] Canada’s attempts to send up to 1,000 foreigners who are here illegally back to their home countries are being stymied by nations refusing to take them back, officials said Monday.

International and domestic laws in most countries require governments to allow their own citizens entry.

"But some countries are refusing to provide travel documents to their citizens or are just outright refusing to take them back," Scott Bardsley, front man for Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale, told AFP.

He declined to name the "recalcitrant nations," saying this might upend diplomatic efforts to convince them to change their position on the deportations.

According to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), the current backlog of foreign nationals facing deportation from Canada tops 15,000.

This is down from 20,000 just a few years ago, while the total number of deportations each year has also fallen dramatically from 19,000 in 2012 to 7,300 in 2016.

The removal list includes rejected refugee claimants and persons deemed inadmissible because of a criminal background or because they pose a national security threat.

Proponents of the US way of publicly naming uncooperative countries and in some cases imposing sanctions on them say Canada should follow suit, but others worry this would stigmatise all members of that group.

"The CBSA continues to engage countries to try to obtain travel documents to facilitate the removal of foreign nationals to their home countries," Bardsley said.

China, India, the United States, Nigeria, Haiti, Pakistain, Mexico, Somalia, Cuba and Jamaica are the top countries of origin on Canada’s deportation list.

The officials further added at least ten ISIS snuffies were killed in the Arclight airstrikes but no casualties were incurred to the local residents or security personnel.

Zimbabwe: The Rise and Fall of Grace Mugabe
[All Africa] WHEN President Bob Muggsy Mugabe
Nonagenarian President-for-Life of Zim-bob-we who turned the former Breadbasket of Africa into the African Basket Case...
exchanged nuptials with Grace Marufu amid pomp and fanfare in August 1996, few would have guessed that she would after two decades make such a dramatic impact on the country's political landscape.

Just a typist at the Office of the President and Cabinet, Grace married Mugabe in an extravagant ceremony, making her the country's First Lady. In recent years, her influence had risen as she had become the power behind the throne.

#1  "There might have been a residue of sympathy for Mugabe, but many were repulsed by Grace's brand of politics. She was brash and condescending, with a penchant for humiliating adults in public. Many dreaded the prospect of her presidency."

Whom could we possibly compare Grace to in the west ?
