Muhammad resigns as prophet amid sexual assault allegations
[ThePeople’sCube] On the heels of this week's resignation of Karl Marx as leading figure in the communist movement due to allegations of sexual misconduct, the triggered social justice organizers of the #MeToo collective have claimed the scalp of another progressive icon.

At a press conference, supported by her family and lawyers, a woman named Aisha claimed that she was taken as a bride by Mr. Muhammad when she was nine years old. When asked why it took so long for her to come out, she stated that she feared nobody would believe her since the testimony of a woman is not worth a lot in her social circle. The crying woman also confessed that Mr. Muhammad used to beat her when she displeased him, and she feared physical retribution.

Mr. Beelzebub, the lawyer representing the accused prophet, denied the gravity of the accusations, saying that "everyone was doing it at the time," and that his client "did not remember the situation in quite the same way."

But later that day more stories emerged from other victims, encouraged by Aisha's testimony and resulting in the viral #MuhammadToo campaign on Twitter.

Home Front: Culture Wars
The Morality Sweepstakes
I have a theory. It's not that the scales have fallen from our eyes about sexual harassment. It's that the cultural left has run out of game. Without game, it can't pass off sleazy exploitation as something else. Neo-avant-gardist art, brand-leveraged politics, deconstructionist philosophy, spectacle, fashion, the Lacanian Real--none of these are any longer up to the task. Transgressive politics are dead. Worse, they're boring. Even the New York Time's Andrew Sullivan and Ross Douthat are rooting for the baker, penning their sudden doubts about the rectitude of humiliating devout Christians for sport.

A Missing Name in FBI Counterintelligence and the Faked Dossier and DOJ IG Releases
[TheConservativeTreehouse] In the past few weeks, thanks to some revealing information amid the various investigators of the DC swamp, we have been introduced to some previously unknown people.

Names like FBI Agent Peter Strzok; his mistress FBI Attorney Lisa Page; their ideological comrade Asst FBI Director Andrew McCabe; along with DOJ Deputy Bruce Ohr; and his wife, Fusion-GPS contract employee Nellie Ohr.  These are a few of the recent names that have hit the headlines as a result of ongoing investigations into the politicization of the FBI and DOJ.

But there’s one name conspicuously absent, FBI Director of Counterintelligence, Bill Priestap.

When you understand how central Bill Priestap is to the entire 2016/2017 ’Russian Conspiracy Operation’, the absence of his name, amid all others, creates a curiosity.  I wrote a twitter thread about him recently because it seems rather unfathomable his name has not been a part of any of the recent story-lines.

Bill Priestap is the head of the FBI Counterintelligence operation.  He was FBI Agent Peter Strozk’s direct boss.  If anyone in congress really wanted to know if the FBI paid for the Christopher Steele Dossier, Bill Priestap is the guy who would know.

Helpful IG Releases:

♦Release #1 was the Agent Strzok and Attorney Lisa Page story; and the repercussions from discovering their politically motivated bias in the 2015/2016 Clinton email investigation and 2016/2017 Russian Election investigation.

♦Release #2 outlined the depth of FBI Agent Strzok and FBI Attorney Page’s specific history in the 2016 investigation into Hillary Clinton to include the changing of the wording ["grossly negligent" to "extremely careless"] of the probe outcome delivered by FBI Director James Comey.

♦Release #3 was the information about DOJ Deputy Bruce Ohr being in contact with Fusion GPS at the same time as the FISA application was submitted and granted by the FISA court; which authorized surveillance and wiretapping of candidate Donald Trump;  that release also attached Bruce Ohr and Agent Strzok directly to the Steele Dossier.

♦Release #4 was information that Deputy Bruce Ohr’s wife, Nellie Ohr, was an actual contract employee of Fusion GPS, and was hired by F-GPS specifically to work on opposition research against candidate Donald Trump.  Both Bruce Ohr and Nellie Ohr are attached to the origin of the Christopher Steele Russian Dossier.

♦Release #5 was the specific communication between FBI Agent Strzok and FBI Attorney Page.  The 10,000 text messages that included evidence of them both meeting with Asst. FBI Director Andrew McCabe to discuss the "insurance policy" against candidate Donald Trump in August of 2016.

In April 2016 Hillary Clinton paid Glenn Simpson with Fusion-GPS to dig up dirt on Donald Trump.

In May 2016 Fusion GPS hired Nellie Ohr, wife of DOJ Deputy Bruce Ohr, to lead the opposition research effort.  That same month, Fusion GPS contracted with retired British MI6 Agent Christopher Steele to write the ’Trump Russia Dossier’.
In late June 2016 the first draft of the Steele Dossier was shared back with Fusion GPS and presumably Nellie Ohr was one of the recipients.   According to Robby Mook, the partial dossier information was also given to the DNC and Clinton Campaign.

In July 2016 candidate Donald Trump won the GOP nomination.  That same month the FBI Counterintelligence Division began an investigation they later described as a counterintelligence operation looking at Russian interference in the U.S. election.  However, from 10 months of researched documentation, much of it in the MSM, we now know it was an FBI counterintelligence operation against candidate Donald Trump.

Also in July 2016, immediately following candidate Donald Trump’s successful bid to win the GOP nomination, a FISA application was denied.  The timing here is far too coincidental (the later narrower version clearly evidences), the FISA application was to wiretap, monitor and conduct surveillance on candidate Trump and his campaign.

In August 2016, the lead FBI Agent in charge of that counterintelligence operation, Peter Strzok told his FBI Attorney and mistress:  "I want to believe the path you threw out for consideration in Andy’s office that there’s no way he gets elected ‐ but I’m afraid we can’t take that risk. It’s like an insurance policy in the unlikely event you die before you’re 40."

The "insurance policy" appears to be the ongoing counterintelligence operation that later utilized the Steele Dossier to get the FISA warrant and actually begin the wiretaps and surveillance.  The conversation referenced between Strzok and Page took place in FBI Assistant Director Andrew "Andy" McCabe’s office.

More than 200 passengers aboard Royal Caribbean ship stricken with stomach virus
[ABC] About 220 passengers aboard a five-night Caribbean cruise, slated to return to Ft. Lauderdale Saturday morning, suffered from a gastro-intestinal illness over the past week, Royal Caribbean announced.

"Independence of the Seas is currently on a 5-night Caribbean cruise, which departed Port Everglades, Florida on December 11," Royal Caribbean said in a statement Friday to ABC News. "Over the week, 220 cases of gastro-intestinal illness were reported‐ representing 4.86 percent of the 5,547 guests and crew onboard."

The Miami-based cruise line continued in its statement, "Those affected by the short-lived illness were treated by our ship’s doctors with over-the-counter medication, and we hope all our guests feel better quickly. Meanwhile, we’re taking steps like intensive sanitary procedures to minimize the risk of any further issues. The ship will also undergo special additional cleaning procedures before it departs on its next cruise."

Gingrich On Comey, Peter Strzok - People Will End Up Going To Jail
[National Review] Newt Gingrich discussed James Comey's handling of the Clinton probe and FBI agent Peter Strzok and FBI lawyer Lisa Page on Thursday night's Hannity and spoke of people going to jail.

Gingrich called it "very scary" that these people thought they could impose their version of the law to "save America."

Was the Steele Dossier Used to Obtain a FISA Warrant Against Trump's Campaign?
[National Review] President Trump ought to direct his Justice Department and FBI to provide the House Intelligence Committee with the FISA warrant application ‐ any FISA warrant application ‐ in which they relied on information from the Steele dossier in seeking court permission to spy on the Trump campaign. It may well be that they did not rely on the dossier. It is ridiculous, though, that we are still in the dark about this.

I have long experience with how scrupulously the FBI and Justice Department work in the often controversial foreign-intelligence realm. They care deeply about their honorable reputation with the FISA court, just as the judges of that secret tribunal care deeply about not being perceived as a "rubber-stamp" for the government.

I have thus given our agencies the benefit of the doubt here. While urging that we have disclosure (with all due care to protect intelligence methods and sources), I have presumed that the FBI and DOJ would never fraudulently present the FISA court with fanciful claims attributed to anonymous Russian sources as if they were a refined product of U.S. intelligence collection and analysis. This, after all, is a "dossier" that former FBI director James Comey dismissed as "salacious and unverified" in Senate testimony just six months ago.

When a court is asked for a warrant, the government must provide the judge with a basis to believe the information proffered is credible ‐ by vouching that the source has been reliable in the past, by corroborating the information offered, or both. If Comey adjudged Steele’s information unverified in June 2017, it had to have been unverified ten months earlier. That’s when the FBI and Justice Department obtained a FISA warrant for Carter Page, who had been loosely described as a Trump campaign adviser.

The FBI Has Released New Old Info About Loretta Lynch's Tarmac Meeting With Bill Clinton
[Townhall] The FBI released a series of email documents Friday afternoon detailing the Department of Justice response to the fallout of the secret Phoenix tarmac meeting between Attorney General Loretta Lynch and former President Bill Clinton in June 2016. The dates on the emails range from July 1-3, 2016. On July 5, 2016, FBI Director James Comey announced former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would not face criminal charges for mishandling classified information.

A series of emails show one FBI official, whose name and email are redacted, fuming over leaks to the media about the meeting and what happened on the tarmac. The official received an email from a "layman" alleging a local Phoenix police officer who may have talked to a reporter "sounds like a security threat." Officials went back and forth about finding out if the officer was SWAT or simply worked the motorcade and that "at a minimum" he should never work another detail again. One asked if local law enforcement assisting the FBI on motorcades should sign non-disclosure agreements in the future. Another official called an Observer article about the meeting, with details about how President Clinton got to Lynch's private plane, "infuriating."

Former FBI Official: Comey ‘Let Politics Creep Into The Process' [VIDEO]
[Daily Caller] Former FBI Deputy Assistant Director Danny Coulson said Friday that James Comey "let politics creep into the process" while he was FBI director.

Coulson, appearing on Fox News’ "The Story With Martha MacCallum," said, "I know the FBI. I know the FBI culture and I know how they feel about the integrity of what they do. That’s who we are. We are not FBI agents for just for a title. There’s a culture among us, and the ones that have left and the ones that are still there, and we want to be viewed as somebody that’s not corruptible."

He continued, "And I think that the leadership under Comey basically let us down. His former agents and his current agents, he let us down, he let politics creep into the process and at least, he violated the look back rule here, and how that happened, I do not know."

The damage control begins.

There's Mounting Evidence of 2016 Election Meddling Coming From the FBI
[WSJ via Townhall] There is something rotten at the Federal Bureau of Investigation. I mean all of this is just absurd. We have two FBI agents texting one another, one of which is having an extramarital affair with the other, cryptically talking about "insurance" against a Trump presidency. That text between these two agents was delivered on August 15, 2016.

You also have Andrew Weissmann, Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s top lieutenant, voicing praise for then-acting Attorney General Sally Yates for refusing to enact President Trump’s executive order on immigration, which got her fired. Then, there’s another DOJ official, Bruce Ohr, who was demoted for meeting the authors of the infamous and unverified Trump dossier, Fusion GPS; Ohr’s wife, Nellie, worked for that firm during the 2016 election.

If there is nothing rotten at the FBI, then it’s credibility is definitely in question, something that The Wall Street Journal’s editorial board mentioned in their op-ed about this mess. The two FBI agents at the center of the firestorm right now, Peter Strzok and Lisa Page are obviously no longer working with Mueller; Strzok was removed in August, while Page’s assignment with the investigation has already ended and she has been transferred elsewhere. Still, from this past summer to now‐and we’re just learning about these 10,000 text messages between the two. The Journal makes it clear that there appears to be mounting evidence of election meddling emanating from the bureau:

Hanoi Jane Donates $100K to Defeat GOP Rep. Darrell Issa
[Free Beacon] Jane Fonda has donated $100,000 to a political group solely aimed at defeating California GOP Rep. Darrell Issa, one of the most vulnerable Republicans in the country.

Fonda's contribution amounts to nearly one-quarter of the group's total $440,000 haul for the year.

The group's top donors include Academy Award winner Leonardo DiCaprio, comedian Bill Maher, actor Ted Danson and former Sen. Barbara Boxer (D., Calif.). Maher donated $15,000, DiCaprio and Boxer doled out $2,500 each, and Danson cut a $1,500 check, according to a report in the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Jay Leno also contributed $2,500 through his JDM Foundation, an organization that Leno funds along with contributions from auto-racing companies.

Flip the 49th! Neighbors in Action, the group in question, did not immediately respond to a question about whether Fonda's funding could backfire by motivating more veterans or current members of the military to turn out and support Issa.

Fonda, now 79, earned the nickname "Hanoi Jane" from Vietnam veterans for visiting Hanoi in 1972 as an anti-war protester in 1972 where she posed for photos on a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft battery.

Coming attractions: How the biggest political scandal in history will play out in 2018
h/t Instapundit
[AmericanThinker] A lot of frustration has been expressed ‐ on these pages and elsewhere ‐ over the slow pace of progress in unraveling the Deep State coup against Trump. But "the process of uncovering the worst political scandal in American history," as I called it a couple of days ago, needs to be done the right way, or else it will founder under the waves of abuse that will pour from the media and political branches of the establishment. Not only must legal niceties be observed, but the rollout of information must be undertaken with a strategy in mind. Each step builds on the previous and addresses the probable response.

...Sundance of Conservative Treehouse has a must-read column today, analyzing the pattern of disclosures from the I.G. In Sundance's words, "It looks just like a prosecutor laying out his case."

Consider what is at stake; and further consider that you were given the task of revealing the outcome of an investigation of such consequence. How would you introduce the findings to the larger U.S. electorate? Given the timing of the releases from the IG's investigation, I think that's what we are seeing in the past two weeks. A prosecutor laying out his case over the course of multiple media cycles. ...

There is a pattern in the released OIG information and how we retrieve it from the media.

♦Ahead of FBI Director Christopher Wray appearing before congress the IG released the information about FBI Agent Strzok and his mistress FBI/DOJ Attorney Lisa Page.

♦Just before Asst. FBI Director Andrew McCabe was going to appear before congress the IG released information about DOJ Deputy Bruce Ohr and his wife Nellie Ohr.

Andrew McCabe ducked out of the hearing, and will now appear next week. Boy-oh-boy that one should be interesting. If he's still employed. (anticipating more releases here)

Gregg Jarrett: Did the FBI and the Justice Department, plot to clear Hillary Clinton, bring down Trump?
[FOX] There is strong circumstantial evidence that an insidious plot unprecedented in American history was hatched within the FBI and the Obama Justice Department to help elect Hillary Clinton and defeat Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election.

And when this apparent effort to improperly influence the election did not succeed, the suspected conspirators appear to have employed a fraudulent investigation of President Trump in an attempt to undo the election results and remove him as president.

Such a Machiavellian scheme would move well beyond what is known as the "deep state," a popular reference to government employees who organize in secret to impose their own political views on government policy in defiance of democratically elected leadership.

However, this apparent plot to keep Trump from becoming president and to weaken and potentially pave the way for his impeachment with a prolonged politically motivated investigation ‐ if proven ‐ would constitute something far more nefarious and dangerous.

Such a plot would show that partisans within the FBI and the Justice Department, driven by personal animus and a sense of political righteousness, surreptitiously conspired to subvert electoral democracy itself in our country.

As of now, we have no proof beyond a reasonable doubt of such a plot. But we have very strong circumstantial evidence.

And as the philosopher and writer Henry David Thoreau wrote in his journal in 1850: "Some circumstantial evidence is very strong, as when you find a trout in the milk."

Newly revealed text messages about the apparent anti-Trump plot are the equivalent of a trout in the milk. It smells........ fishy.

Leftest BBC fiction author Freedland - 'Trump is changing America for decades to come'
[Guardian] Now twice as long, his tweets are half as good. The early-morning dispatches from the iPhone of Donald Trump, often sent while he lies in bed, propped up on a pillow, lack the poison punch they packed in the 140-character era. They ramble a bit now, losing focus. But they still command attention and dominate the news to an extent no one on the planet can match.

This week it was Trump’s swipe at Kirsten Gillibrand, a New York senator who had called for the allegations of sexual harassment made against Trump during the 2016 election campaign to be investigated. Trump called Gillibrand a "lightweight" who used to "come to my office ’begging’ for campaign contributions not so long ago (and would do anything for them)".

That parenthesis was a misogynist smear, implying that a senior female politician had offered Trump sexual favours in return for cash. It duly dominated the US news cycle for 24 hours.

On other days, it’s not Trump’s tweeting habit that fills the airwaves, but the newest twist in the continuing saga of alleged collusion with Russia to tip the last election. The latest on that is the concerted work by Trump’s Republican enablers on Capitol Hill and beyond to prepare the ground for the firing of Robert Mueller, the former FBI director now serving as special counsel in the Russia investigation. Never mind that Republicans hailed Mueller only a matter of months ago as an unassailably neutral public servant, or that removing him would be a Nixon-level abuse of power, they are doing what they believe their party interest demands. Both these things matter. Trump’s tweets trample daily on the norms that underpin a democratic society, as well as trafficking in the most inflammatory racism and sexism. The Russia question could not be more grave: to collude with a hostile, authoritarian foreign power in subverting a free election is an assault on democracy itself.

The trouble is, they keep us looking the other way. Just as they consume Trump’s energy, they divert ours, preventing us from paying attention not to what he says via Twitter, or what he may have done with Moscow, but what he’s doing right now from his desk in the Oval Office.

On that score, it’s tempting ‐ and fair ‐ to assess his first 11 months in office as a failure. He has failed to fulfil so many of his signature promises, from building that wall to repealing Barack Obama’s healthcare reforms. Today Republicans hoped to unveil a bill that would cut the taxes of the very richest, but even if that gets passed next week it will be the only piece of major legislation Trump has managed to get through a Congress where his party enjoys the rare luxury of a majority in both chambers.

And yet, he has not done nothing. On the contrary, bit by bit and in ways that rarely command the front pages, he has done a lot to shape the way Americans, and others, will live for decades to come.

Judge Lori Walkley hands down death penalty to convicted Islamic murderer
[Daily Caller] On Sept. 24, 2014, ISIS inspired Islamic convert Alton Nolen entered a food processing plant in Moore, Oklahoma. He took out a butcher knife and beheaded Colleen Hufford and critically stabbed Tracy Johnson. Both were employees at the factory. Nolen, who had been recently suspended from the plant, was a practicing Muslim who was obsessed with gruesome Islamic State beheading videos going viral at the time.

Nolen was shot and apprehended after his rampage.

Nolen was facing either the death penalty or life in prison without parole after a jury trial in Oklahoma.

Friday, the judge handed down his sentence: Death.

Judge Lori Walkley took a jury recommendation for the death penalty after months of deliberation. Nolen’s defense argued that he was mentally ill and that his readings of the Quran affected his ability to discern right from wrong. However, recordings of Nolen taken from the hospital and played for the jury showed no remorse over the brutal attack.

Nolen’s beheading was particularly horrific for the country as it occurred during a time when Americans were being savagely beheaded on video by ISIS in Syria.

America's Longest-Serving Bomber Sets New Record For Most Smart Bombs Dropped On An Enemy
[Daily Caller] A U.S. Air Force B-52 Stratofortress, America’s longest-serving bomber, set a new record when it unleashed hell against terrorists on a combat mission in Afghanistan last month, according to the Department of Defense.

During an expanded strike mission, B-52 bombers dropped 19 Joint Direct Attack Munitions (JDAMs) on the Taliban in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, Air Forces Central Command spokeswoman Capt. AnnMarie Annicelli told Military.com. The strategic bombers were targeting opium and heroin facilities to cripple the revenue stream.

The Air Force "used B-52s with their new conventional rotary launcher," Air Force Brig. Gen. Lance Bunch, the director of NATO’s Resolute Support mission explained Tuesday. "Of note, it was the single most ‐ largest number of precision munitions ever dropped from a B-52."

Bunch revealed that the U.S. military now has the authority to take the fight to the enemy in a new way. Under the Trump administration, the military now has greater freedom and independence with regard to how it chooses to engage the enemy.

On the Left, It Is All Hysteria, All the Time
[Powerline] I have been observing politics for a long time, and have never seen anything like the present moment. The Democrats have dialed the hysteria meter up to 12, and absolutely everything is a crisis. One type of faux crisis is particularly transparent. It is exemplified by the Left’s current fit over net neutrality, a policy that few understand and, I think, fewer still have much reason to care about. But leftists have figured out their messaging, as reflected in this absurd headline in today’s Minneapolis Star Tribune:

Whatever the FCC did, it certainly did not "overturn equal internet access." Rather, the internet will be as it was in 2015 and in all previous years. Do you recall any problem with equal access to the internet before the introduction of "net neutrality" two years ago? No, neither do I. "Net neutrality" was a solution in search of a problem. Yet Democrats reportedly have been making death threats against the children of FCC Chairman Ajit Pai.

A similar case, in a completely different realm, is that of the Bears Ears [Ed.: Sorry about Bears End, that was spell check.] National Monument. Bears Ears is not a monument in any normal sense; it comprises over 2,000 square miles in southern Utah, more than twice the area of the State of Rhode Island. The Trump administration’s Interior Department has reduced the size of the Bears Ears monument to a more manageable 201,876 acres‐still really big for a monument‐and the Left has gone bonkers.

The clothing company Patagonia, for example, sued the Trump administration to prevent its order from going into effect.
[Patagonia] replaced its usual home page with a stark message, "The President Stole Your Land." The California-based company called Trump’s actions illegal and described Monday’s action as the largest elimination of protected land in American history.

But here’s the thing: There was no Bears Ears national monument until December 28, 2016, when President Obama created it by presidential proclamation less than two weeks before he left office. The Trump administration’s order restores the status quo as of December 27, 2016, only with a 201,876 acre "monument." In a sane world, no one would try to make the case that this represents some kind of outrage, let alone something illegal. The Democrats say that President Obama can create national monuments, but President Trump can’t shrink them. That is consistent with the Democrats’ mantra: Some elections have consequences, others don’t.

The Democrats obviously think that breaking the hysteria meter is working for them, and they could turn out to be right. But by any sane standard, they are making fools of themselves.

Investors Are the Most Bearish Since Great Financial Crisis
[WSJ] For years, the historic run higher for U.S. stocks has been characterized as a "hated" rally, one that has consistently vexed investors with rising prices in the face of widespread skepticism.

If anything, repeated record highs in 2017 have only made money managers more dour.

Big investors are heading into 2018 with the most bearish perspective on stocks since the great financial crisis, according to Boston Consulting Group’s annual investor survey.

Fully 46% of investors were pessimistic about equity markets for the next year, up from 32% a year ago and 19% in 2015; more than one-third were bearish about stocks over three years, more than double last year.

As global equity benchmarks have rallied, more investors see the market as richly valued. Fully 68% of respondents said the equity market is "overvalued," more than double the 29% of respondents who thought as much last year.

Nearly four-fifths of self-described bears cited "overvaluation" as the reason for their market pessimism, the survey found.

As bears perk up, expected long-term returns are falling. The average expectation for total equity return, including dividends, over three years was 5.5%, the same as last year and tied for the lowest return expectation since the survey was initiated in 2009. Of course, diminished expectations haven’t slowed down the galloping pace of stock gains yet.

Investor concerns stretch into the wider economy. Nearly 80% of respondents said that they expect an economic recession within three years and 53% said that they expect a recession within two years.

POTUS may stop Boeing and Airbus jetliner sales to Iran
[The Hill] The Trump administration is weighing a strategy that could stop Boeing and Airbus from selling hundreds of passenger planes to Iranian airlines.

The Wall Street Journal reported Friday that while options have not yet been presented to President Trump, they are expected to include prohibiting the sales, imposing restrictions that could stop any aircraft deliveries or slowing down the approval process.

Boeing and Airbus have agreed to sell nearly 300 planes to Iranian Airlines. Those sales were allowed under the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, pending approval from the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control.

The nuclear deal bars Iran from developing nuclear weapons in exchange for sanctions relief.

Trump disavowed the nuclear deal in October, though he did not withdraw from the agreement. He must decide by mid-January whether to extend sanctions relief for Iran. He is expected to once again say that Tehran is not complying with the deal.

Boeing and General Electric are two major U.S. companies to pursue business opportunities with Iran. Airbus, which is headquartered in France, could also be impacted by a potential ban on the sales.

Analysis: Tax Cuts and Jobs Act Pays For Itself With Economic Growth
[Free Beacon] The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act proposed by both the House and the Senate will pay for itself by generating higher economic growth, according to an analysis from the Tax Foundation.

The Joint Committee on Taxation released a report showing the House tax reform proposal would increase gross domestic product by about 0.7 percent on average over the next decade.

"In general, tax policy affects economic growth by changing incentives for owners of capital to invest and for potential workers to supply labor to the economy, and by changing the after-tax rates of return‐either directly by changing the amount of payments going to taxes, or indirectly, by changing aggregate demand, which can change gross payments for output," the committee explains.

"The projected increase in GDP during the budget window results both from an increase in labor supply, in response to the reduction in effective marginal tax rates on wages, and from an increase in investment in response to the reduction in the after-tax cost of capital."

Critics of the plan argue that because the committee estimates that revenue will decline from about $1.5 trillion to $1 trillion, the plan does not pay for itself.

Spike in Illegal Immigration Coincides with Talk of DACA Amnesty by GOP Establishment, DHS Secretary
[Breitbart] A steady increase in illegal immigration at the U.S.-Mexico border under President Trump’s administration has coincided with continued talks among lawmakers to give amnesty to illegal aliens.

The number of border-crossings in November 2017, Breitbart Texas reported, has risen to a staggering 39,006 illegal aliens. This puts last month’s border-crossings under Trump in-line with former President Obama’s administration when it comes to illegal immigration at the southern border.

Since April 2017, border-crossings have risen under Trump a whopping 147 percent.

Meanwhile, the increase in illegal aliens attempting to enter the U.S. through the southern border has coincided with constant discussion from the Republican establishment, Democrats, the open borders lobby, and corporate interests about giving amnesty to nearly 800,000 illegal aliens under the Obama-created Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

Trump To MS-13: We’re Throwing You ‘Hell Out Of Country’
[NEWS.GRABIEN] We want a system that puts the needs of American families, taxpayers, and security first. That is why I have also directed the federal government, law enforcement, to work closely with our state and local police to destroy criminal cartels like the savages of MS-13 (Applause)

Already this year, the Department of Justice has worked with partners in central America to arrest and charge roughly 4,000 MS-13 members. And the Department of Homeland Security has arrested nearly 800 MS-13 gang members & associates, an 83% percent increase from the previous year and we are much higher this year than we were last year and we’ll get rid of them completely very soon, right? Right? (Applause)

They are working hard. Earlier this year, ICE officers conducted the largest crackdown on criminal gangs in the history of our country. In just six weeks ICE— these are great people, too, great people, and the border patrol agents, great people — and our law enforcement partners arrested nearly 1,400 suspects and seized more than 200 illegal firearms and nearly 600 rounds of narcotics. And over 600 pounds. That’s a lot of stuff. Recently prosecutions of criminal firearm possessions were up 23 percent. To any member of MS-13 listening, I have a message for you. We will find you, we will arrest you, we will jail you, we will throw you the hell out of the country. (Laughter)

And somehow I like it better than jail. Jail we have to take care of them. Who the hell wants to take care of them? (Applause)

Palestinian terrorist shot before he could detonate suicide belt
[NYPOST] A Paleostinian man was shot Friday after stabbing an Israeli border police officer in the West Bank ‐ the latest violent fallout of President Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the Jewish state’s capital.

The assailant, Mahmoud Iman, 19, who stabbed the officer in his shoulder during festivities, was evacuated by the Red Islamic Thingy at death's door, according to The Jerusalem Post.

A picture of Iman in Ramalla showed him wearing what may have been an explosive vest.

Israeli police officials said they are investigating the possibility that the attacker infiltrated the area pretending to be a journalist before stabbing the officer.

"When the other officers saw the stabbing they opened fire that led to him being incapacitated. When the troops approached the terrorist, they identified an boom belt, which led to additional fire to prevent him from triggering it," police said in a statement.

Police said they were investigating whether Iman was carrying a real bomb or only a device meant to look like one, the Times of Israel reported.

[THEHILL] Speaker Paul Ryan
...Speaker of the House, U.S. Representative for Wisconsin's 1st congressional district, serving since 1999. He is a member of the Republican Party. He proposed an alternative to President Obama's 2011 budget and made himself the target of both Democrat and Republican verbal pies...
(R-Wis.) says he’s not quitting Congress anytime soon.

Asked at the end of his weekly presser whether he was leaving Congress "soon," Ryan chuckled and replied as he walked off the stage: "I’m not, no."

Rumors have been swirling for weeks that Ryan ‐ who this October marked his second year in the Speaker’s office ‐ could resign from Congress shortly after passing his No. 1 legislative priority: tax reform.

The House and Senate are expected to pass a final version of their historic tax-cuts bill next week, with President Trump planning to sign it into law by Christmas Day.

In early November, a number of Ryan’s GOP colleagues told The Hill that the Speaker could pass tax reform and quickly quit Congress, choosing to go out on top with a victory rather than wait to be forced out like his predecessor, Speaker John It is not pronounced 'Boner!' Boehner

Farenthold won't run for reelection
[THEHILL] Rep. Blake Farenthold (R-Texas) plans to retire after his term is up at the end of 2018, according to two GOP sources.

Farenthold spoke with GOP leaders, including Speaker Paul Ryan
...Speaker of the House, U.S. Representative for Wisconsin's 1st congressional district, serving since 1999. He is a member of the Republican Party. He proposed an alternative to President Obama's 2011 budget and made himself the target of both Democrat and Republican verbal pies...
(R-Wis.) and Rep. Steve Stivers (R-Ohio), chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, ahead of an expected announcement.

Farenthold did not respond when questioned Thursday morning in a Capitol hallway.

He later announced his retirement in a video posted to Facebook and acknowledged he had managed an office with a dysfunctional workplace culture. But he continued to deny the allegations made by Lauren Greene, a former aide who accused him of sexual harassment.

"I had never served in public office before. I had no idea how to run a congressional office. And as a result, I allowed a workplace culture to take root in my office that was too permissive and decidedly unprofessional," Farenthold said.

"An unprofessional work environment is not a crime," he added. "But it's embarrassing to me and to my family. It reflects poorly on the institution of Congress, on my colleagues, and my constituents. And they deserve better."

Eighty homeless people died on Portland streets in 2016
[PRESSTV] Eighty homeless people have died on the streets in the Portland last year, adding to more than 350 people who have disappeared while homeless in the past six years.

The number marks a 70 percent increase in homeless deaths in Multnomah County, home to Portland, local authorities said Thursday.

This is since officials first began tracking the homeless in 2011 and is in line with similar significant increase in homeless deaths in other large West Coast cities where the homelessness has surged.

The annual report is used as a barometer to track the city’s progress addressing a crisis that has also overwhelmed cities from Seattle to San Diego.

In Seattle, a similar count found 91 homeless people died in 2016 and 115 perished in San Diego. In Sacramento County, that number was 71 people. In Santa Clara County, 132 homeless people died in 2016 ‐ a 164 percent increase since 2011, according to data from county medical examiners in those counties.

"These neighbors are literally dying right in front of us," Deborah Kafoury, chairwoman of the Multnomah County Board of Commissioners, said. "This is unacceptable. This is not normal."

The US Department of Housing and Development released numbers earlier this month indicating the overall homeless population in Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, Oregon and Washington grew by 14 percent over the past two years.

Saudi warplanes kill more than 50 people in Yemen
[PRESSTV] More than 50 Yemeni people have been killed in Arclight airstrikes by Saudi warplanes on the impoverished country of Yemen, reports said Friday.

Yemen’s al-Masirah television network said the Saudi warplanes bombed a market in the Mawza district in the west of Ta’izz province on Friday. According to a preliminary count, the airstrike left eight people dead and 15 others injured.

At least 15 people also bit the dust in Saudi air raids on the northern province of Sa’ada. According to al-Masirah, 12 of the victims were killed in two airstrikes that hit a market and a car in the Munabbih district. The three other victims, including two women, were killed in earlier air raids on the districts of al-Dhaher and Shada. The aerial attacks also left five people injured in the northern province.

Medics and security sources also reported on Friday that Saudi air raids claimed the lives of 28 people around Yemen's west coast.

International community won’t accept nuclear N Korea: Tillerson
[PRESSTV] US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has claimed that the international community remains firm on not accepting a nuclear North Korea and a "sustained cessation of North Korea's threatening behavior" was needed before the United States could talk with Pyongyang about its development of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles.

"North Korea must earn its way back to the table. The pressure campaign must and will continue until denuclearization is achieved," Tillerson adressed the United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
Security Council on Friday.

Tillerson went on to say all Security Council member states should fully implement the UN resolutions urging countries which have so far failed to comply with the resolutions to further isolate Pyongyang politically and economically to cut off funds for its nuclear and missile programs.

He also called on China and Russia to increase pressure on North Korea by going beyond the implementation of UN sanctions.

Japan’s Foreign Minister Taro Kono, in similar comments, backed the sanctions against North Korea and called on member states to abide by the UN resolutions to exert further pressure on Pyongyang.

"The latest launch was conducted 75 days after North Korea’s provocations in September. Some optimistic views labeled 75 days of silence as a positive signal. However,
a hangover is the wrath of grapes...
the missile launch in November made it clear that North Korea was continuing to relentlessly develop its nuclear and missile programs even while they were seemingly silent," Kono said.

US complicit in Saudi war crimes in Yemen: Iran's Zarif
[PRESSTV] Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif says the United States is complicit in Saudi war crimes in Yemen

Bangladesh
CTTC: Samad recruited at least 50 youths into militancy
[Dhaka Tribune] Abdus Samad is known as "Mamu", or "uncle", by everyone in Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (New JMB), the group responsible for the July 2016 terrorist attack on the Holey Artisan bakery in Gulshan.

At a young age Samad earned the Dawra-e-Hadith degree, the highest degree offered by a Qawmi Madrasa. An expert in Arabic language, Samad has the gift of persuasion and could sway people to his Jihadi cause simply by speaking to them.

Samad played an important role in New JMB, personally recruiting over 50 youths into the krazed killer organization.

In October 2013 he introduced Bangladeshi-origin Canadian citizen Tamim Ahmed Chowdhury to Bangladeshi krazed killer leaders. Tamim went on to become the leader of New JMB, criminal masterminding the Gulshan attack before he was killed in a police raid in Narayanganj in late August 2016.

Samad also played a vital role in formation of Junud Al Tawhid Al Khalifa.

The details of Samad’s illicit activities fell under the spotlight after his arrest last Wednesday. The 29-year-old suspected krazed killer divulged critical information related to krazed killer operations in Bangladesh during his initial interrogation.

On Thursday, a court granted the Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of police a five-day remand of Samad for further questioning.

"When Tamim formed Junud Al Tawhid Al Khalifa in Dhaka, he made Samad his second in command," CTTC chief Monirul Islam said.

Samad served the New JMB in a variety of ways, most importantly as a policy maker, recruiter, fund raiser and bomb maker. He also trained new recruits in firearm use and explosives.

Olde Tyme Religion
NJ imam to be ‘retrained’ after hoping, in sermon, that all Jews die
[IsraelTimes] Sheikh Aymen Elkasaby will meet with interfaith leaders after blaming Jews for Sinai mosque terror attack that killed over 300

A New Jersey imam will reportedly be sent for "retraining" after expressing hope in a sermon last week that all Jews would be killed and previously blaming a deadly Sinai terror attack on Jews.

Last week, Sheikh Aymen Elkasaby gave sermons at the Islamic Center of Jersey City in which he called for "Allah to wreak vengeance" on the "Jewish oppressors" of the Temple Mount and to "kill them down to the very last one," according to translations provided by the Middle East Media Research Institute.

That sermon came days after US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
defied warnings from the world and recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

In another sermon in November, Elkasaby also said the notion that the terror attack at the al-Rawda Mosque in the Sinai Peninsula that killed over 300 worshippers was carried out by the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
was "ridiculous."

The imam said the massacre "could only have been done by the enemies of Islam ‐ the Jews and their subordinates from among the Moslem rulers," according to MEMRI translations.

The November 24 attack is thought to have been carried out by the jihadist Islamic State or its affiliates, who have carried out a series of terrorist attacks in the Sinai, in part because the mosque is associated with followers of the mystical Sufi branch of Sunni Islam, and IS targets any who do not follow its version of Islam.

Islamic Center of Jersey City president Ahmed Shedeed announced that Elkasaby would be sitting down with "interfaith scholars" who would "consult with and retrain him," according to a Thursday statement.

"This is like sending someone to rehab," he told the Algemeiner Jewish newspaper. "The scholars will help him to learn to deal with these issues."

For his part, Shedeed has been recognized nationally for his interfaith work. He was New Jersey Senator Cory Booker’s honored guest at former US president Barack Obama
If you like your coverage you can keep it...
’s 2016 State of the Union address.

Last month, Shedeed’s Islamic Center also hosted a gathering of religious leaders from the Baha’i, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Moslem, and Sikh communities.

Shedeed said he had not been present at either of the sermons and had only been made aware of last week’s address days later, when a rabbi friend sent him an email expressing concern, Algemeiner reported.

Iraq
UN 'shocked and appalled' at mass-execution in Iraq
[DAWN] The United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
on Friday harshly criticised the mass-hanging of 38 men at a prison in southern Iraq this week, urging Baghdad to immediately halt all executions.

Iraq on Thursday hanged 38 jihadists belonging to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group or al-Qaeda for terrorism offences at a prison in the southern city of Nasiriyah, according to provincial authorities.

It was the largest number of executions in Iraq on a single day since September 25, when 42 people were put to death in the same prison.

"We are deeply shocked and appalled at the mass execution on Thursday," United Nations human rights
One man's rights are another man's existential threat.
office spokeswoman Liz Throssell told news hounds in Geneva.

The hangings, she warned, "once again raises huge concerns about the use of the death penalty
in the country".

The UN had determined that all of the 38 executed prisoners were men and had been convicted for terrorism-related crimes, but could say nothing more about their identities, she said.

A prison source however told AFP that they were all Iraqis, but that one also held Swedish nationality.

The executions came after Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on Saturday declared victory against the Islamic State group after a three-year campaign by government forces backed by a US-led coalition to retake territory seized by the jihadists.

‘Sanaa sniper’ targets Houthis, kills three prominent commanders
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A sniper, whose identity remains a mystery, has been killing Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. commanders in Sanaa thus spreading fear among the Houthi militia’s ranks, local sources and media outlets said.

The unknown sniper now dubbed "Sanaa sniper" has so far killed three prominent Houthi commanders who were identified as Yahya Hussein al-Houthi, Mohammed Daghsan and Mohammed al-Sayaghi.

Many Houthi commanders now fear for their lives and some have gone into hiding and no longer roam the streets of Sanaa out of fear they might be the next.

Some activists say the sniper may be a Elite Republican Guards’ member supporting late President former President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh
... Saleh initially took power as a strongman of North Yemen in 1977, when disco was in flower, but he didn't invite Donna Summer to the inauguration and Blondie couldn't make it...
and that he is targeting Houthis in response to their recent series of kidnappings and executions of Saleh’s supporters.

Other activists, however, said the Houthi commanders killed were eliminated by other Houthi members as the movement is competing for power in Sanaa, adding that this narrative about a sniper targeting them is a Houthi attempt to justify raids on people’s houses.

Strikes kill 28 Yemen rebels: security sources
[DAWN] Saudi-led air strikes have killed 28 Houthi

rebels south of the port of Hodeida on Yemen's west coast, medics and security sources close to the faceless myrmidons said on Friday.

The reports came as the Uited Nations refugee agency UNHCR warned of a new displacement of civilians in the area.

The security sources said the air strikes on Thursday and Friday hit five towns controlled by the Houthis around 70 kilometres south of Hodeida.

Medical sources said 28 Houthis were killed and 17 others maimed in the strikes.

There has been no let-up in the air campaign against the rebels that a Saudi-led coalition has been waging since March 2015.

The air strikes have intensified since the December 4 killing of ex-president former President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh
... Saleh initially took power as a strongman of North Yemen in 1977, when disco was in flower, but he didn't invite Donna Summer to the inauguration and Blondie couldn't make it...
at the hands of the Houthis after his alliance with the rebels collapsed.

At the same time forces of the Yemeni government have stepped up attacks on the rebels and last week retook the Red Sea town of Khokha from the Houthis.

The security sources said new festivities broke out on Friday as government forces tried to push towards Hodeida.

UNHCR said it was "bracing for further displacement and a spike in humanitarian needs as hostilities intensify in frontline areas on Yemen's west coast".

Hodeida is the main conduit for UN-supervised deliveries of food and medicine but the rebel-held port is controlled by the Houthis and remains closed, forcing the UN to divert aid supplies to other areas.

"To date we have deployed emergency relief items for 2,000 families in Hodeida, and a further 2,000 aid kits are on their way along with 2,000 emergency shelter kits," the UNHCR said in a statement.

Ould Cheikh Ahmed stressed the need to "put an end immediately to the attacks targeting the leaders of the General People's Congress, activists and their families and terrorizing them."

The UN envoy said in a series of tweets through his official Twitter account that he had met with "a group of big shots of the General People's Congress", but he did not specify the names of those leaders and the date of the meeting.

He added that he offered his sincerest condolences for the death of former President Ali Abdullah Saleh.

Ould Cheikh Ahmed said he had discussed with leaders of the Popular Congress "the best way to end the conflict in Yemen."

He had "productive and constructive" meetings with UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Anwar Gargash and senior UAE officials "to discuss the conflict in Yemen, the humanitarian situation and the best way to reach a political solution," he added.

Zimbabwe: Reprieve for Zim Journalist Prosecuted Over Donation of Used Underwear
[All Africa] A Zim-bob-wean court on Wednesday 13 December 2017 set free NewsDay journalist Kenneth Nyangani, who was being prosecuted for allegedly writing and publishing an article on the donation of some used undergarments reportedly sourced by former First Lady Grace Mugabe.

The 31 year-old Nyangani was tossed in the slammer
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
in October and charged with criminal nuisance as defined in section 46(2) (v) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23 over a story published by NewsDay, a local daily newspaper on the donation of some used undergarments reportedly sourced by the country's former First Lady.

Newsday reported that Esau Mupfumi, a ZANU PF party politician handed over the donation from Mugabe comprising of some used undergarments and night garbs to some ZANU PF party supporters at a meeting held in Mutare in Manicaland province.

According to the State, Mupfumi donated some "brand new goods" which were donated by Mugabe and these included some men's boxer shorts, some pairs of sandals, some T-shirts and hand bags.

Prosecutors claimed that by writing and publishing the story, Nyangani, who was represented by Passmore Nyakureba and Brian Majamanda of Zim-bob-we Lawyers for Human Rights, employed some means which are likely to interfere with ordinary comfort, convenience, peace or quiet of the public.

The State charged that the NewsDay article caused ordinary discomfort, hurt and humiliation to Mupfumi and the ZANU PF supporters, who were the recipients of the donated goods.

FLOODGATES OPEN: Congress ‘To Be Rocked' In Next 72 Hours; Over A Dozen Resignations Coming, Says Reporter
An investigative reporter with The Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF) announced on Friday that Congress’ human resources scandal is about to break wide-open and predicted that over a dozen members of the House of Representatives will resign.

DCNF reporter Luke Rosiak tweeted on Friday: "Congress' human resources scandal is just getting started. I anticipate we will see the resignation of more than a dozen House members over harassment and secret settlements, and soon."

Rosiak followed that tweet with another, writing: "Mark my words, the House is going to be rocked in the coming 72 hours. Tick Tock."

Last week Rosiak broke the story that Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-NY) had made a settlement with a former congressional aide that he fired after she reported being sexually assaulted at the business of a major campaign donor.

The first congressmen to go down in the post-Weinstein era of sexual misconduct was Michigan Democrat Rep. John Conyers, who eventually resigned after accusations against him snowballed.

Other notable politicians on Capitol Hill caught up in sexual misconduct cases:

Democrat Rep. Alcee L. Hastings (FL) ‐ The Treasury paid $220,000 to settle allegations against him made by a former congressional staffer that claimed he "touched her, made unwanted sexual advances, and threatened her job."

Republican Rep. Blake Farenthold (TX) ‐ The congressmen announced on Thursday that he was "retiring" after former staffers accused him of making "sexually graphic jokes" and berating his aides. He previously settled a sexual harassment claim made by an employee in 2014.

Democrat Rep. Ruben Kihuen (NV) ‐ Multiple women have accused the Pelosi-backed congressman of sexual harassment.

Democrat Sen. Al Franken (MN) ‐ Franken announced that he would resign last week after multiple women accused him of sexual assault. Franken has still not resigned despite his promise to do so.

Republican Rep. Trent Franks (AZ) ‐ Resigned after he reportedly made women uncomfortable by asking them to be a surrogate mother.

Iraq
Top Shiite cleric opposes disbanding of Iraq's Hashed militia
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iraq’s most revered Shiite holy man, Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, on Friday opposed calls to disband a controversial paramilitary force which was instrumental in defeating the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group in the country.

Iraq is "always in desperate need of heroic men who have backed up the army and federal police and who fought alongside them on different fronts", said Abdel Mahdi al-Karabalai, the Ayatollah’s representative.

"We need to continue to benefit from this important source of energy, within the constitution and judicial framework," he said in a sermon at weekly prayers in the Shiite holy city of Karbala, south of the capital.

Karabalai stressed that the Hashed al-Shaabi’s arms belonged to the state and its mission was to defend national security.

The force was established in 2014 after Sistani urged Iraqi citizens to take up arms against IS jihadists who had swept aside government forces and seized control of much of northern Iraq.

But the Hashed, a Shiite-dominated alliance, remains deeply divisive
...politicians call things divisive when when the other side sez something they don't like. Their own statements are never divisive, they're principled...
and has been accused of a string of abuses.

Known in English as the Popular Mobilisation Units, the various forces within the Hashed can field a total of between 60,000 and 140,000 fighters.

Iraq’s parliament has classed it as a state force operating within the constitution.

Calls have been growing from the West for the Hashed to disband, with French President Emmanuel Macron proposing "a gradual demilitarisation" of the group and for all militias in Iraq to be "dismantled".

But Hashed front man Ahmad al-Assadi, who is also a member of parliament, told AFP on Friday that Sistani had stood up for the units to be retained as part of Iraq’s security system.

The Hashed suffered 7,637 dead and 21,300 maimed in the three-year war to drive out IS, according to a top Hashed commander, Qais Khazali.

militia is escalating in the Shabwa governorate amid significant progress by the national army and popular resistance, especially in the Asilan and Bihan districts.

The commander of Yemeni forces in Bihan told al-Hadath news hound on Friday that most of Bihan was liberated except for some small villages, as the Yemeni army was keen to preserve the lives of civilians.

He also announced that dozens of Houthi turbans were captured, and that the Arab coalition was a vital help in the operations in Bihan.

Military sources had stated earlier that violent confrontations took place between Yemeni forces and the Houthi militia, during which the army and resistance forces managed to control the areas of Jaabour, al-Khazan, al- Noqob, Jabal bin Saban, the West and East banks and the Saadi branch of the district of Asilan.

Meanwhile,
...back at the Council of Boskone, Helmuth ordered the entire 614th quadrant searched. The Green Lensman must be found!...
turbans retreated from festivities in Shabwa.

The sources also reported growing disagreements between the Houthis and Elite Republican Guard forces loyal to former Yemeni President former President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh
... Saleh initially took power as a strongman of North Yemen in 1977, when disco was in flower, but he didn't invite Donna Summer to the inauguration and Blondie couldn't make it...
, in the rural part of Bihan, northwest of Shabwa.

This resulted in the withdrawal of some members of the Elite Republican Guard from battlefronts indicating increasing anger due to the latest incidents in Sanaa.

The sources pointed out that the militia lost many of their leaders and fighters in the Bihan battlefronts.

The Houthis were then forced to recruit some of their supporters in Bihan who had no fighting experience and negatively affected their internal strategies.

[DAWN] WHEN Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
made the umpteenth provocative policy statement of his presidency last week by declaring that the US would recognise Jerusalem as the capital of the state of Israel, it was reasonable to expect that the religious right across the Moslem world would front a ferocious reaction, with Pakistain no exception.

Well, it hasn’t happened yet, at least not in our land of the pure.

This is intriguing, especially in the immediate aftermath of the Faizabad dharna, which for many signalled the culmination of the religious right’s rise to a position of almost unchallenged cultural hegemony. Why has the religious lobby made no attempt to capitalise on a clearly emotive issue and further consolidate the gains made by Rizvi & co?

At least part of the answer was provided by an Islamabad High Court judge immediately after the dharna was called off. In lambasting the compromise, including the role of the army in brokering it, the learned judge indicated that state personnel and institutions ‐ some of whom constitute what we call the ’establishment’ ‐ are hardly on the same page about Islam, and what posture the state of Pakistain should adopt towards the religious right.

The differences within the state are not reducible to a simplistic binary, namely ’does the state want to continue patronising the religious right or not?’ Religion is so deeply entrenched in the body politic that there is no question of a wholesale shift in the state’s historic policy of politicising it. It is much more meaningful to interrogate the extent and nature of conflict within the state about how to use religion in politics, including the thorny matter of which religio-political forces are to be patronised and in what way.

It is not rocket science that the rise of the Mumtaz Qadris and Khadim Rizvis of the world has coincided with the (relative) falling out of favour of more puritan sects that were previously the dominant bearers of public religiosity. It follows that state personnel sympathetic to different religio-political movements do not see eye to eye with one another about the manner in which Islam should guide the affairs of the state.

In short, the actually existing state is anything but a monolith. Thought about intuitively, the state is comprised of many individuals in a great many number of institutional and geographical settings with varying histories and localised imperatives. With this in mind, it makes sense that state personnel with long-term ties to, say, Deobandi groups are not thrilled at the fact that Barelvis are currently enjoying more favour at the highest echelons of the security apparatus.

to recognize Israeli-occupied Jerusalem al-Quds as the capital of the Tel Aviv regime.

"We, as Turkey, are determined to perform our duties on this issue. We will stand up against those who breach international law. We will work to annul this unlawful decision, first in the Security Council and then in the UN General Assembly, if it is vetoed there," Erdogan addressed a rally in the central province of Konya via teleconference on Friday.

He stated that Washington had violated the 1980 UN Security Council decision on Jerusalem al-Quds, stressing that "no country was above the law."

Erdogan went on to say that Moslems "would never give in to such double standards and injustice," adding that Ankara was also launching initiatives to make other countries recognize the Paleostinian state.

"Right now, 137 countries in the world recognize the Paleostinian state. God willing, this number will further increase with our efforts," he said.

Pakistan could lose territory to terrorists: US
[DAWN] Shifting between soft persuasions and tough advice, the United States is now saying that Pakistain could lose control of its territory if it does not sever ties with the Haqqanis and other terrorists.

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson ‐ who issued the advice at a Washington think-tank earlier this week ‐ also said the murderous Moslems who were focusing on Kabul might one day decide that Islamabad was a better target.

The warning followed a Pentagon statement, which said the new US strategy for Afghanistan had "fundamentally changed the battlefield in favour of Afghan national security forces" and the Talibs were now on the retreat.

And this change happened because the new strategy made it clear that US forces would stay in Afghanistan for as long as it took to stabilise the country and also because it gave American troops more power to confront the enemy, the Pentagon added.

The two statements follow the Trump administration’s repeated calls to Pakistain to do more to destroy the alleged safe havens that Afghan murderous Moslems still retain in parts of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata), a charge Islamabad strongly denies.

"Pakistain has allowed so many terrorist organizations to find safe haven within its territories, and these organizations are growing in size and influence, that at some point I have said to the leadership of Pakistain, you may be the target, and they turn their attention from Kabul and decide they like Islamabad as a target better," Secretary Tillerson said.

during the final months of the 2016 presidential race, according to documents and interviews.

Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, lawyer Lisa Bloom’s efforts included offering to sell alleged victims’ stories to TV outlets in return for a commission for herself, arranging a donor to pay off one Trump accuser’s mortgage and attempting to secure a six-figure payment for another woman who ultimately declined to come forward after being offered as much as $750,000, the clients told The Hill.

The women’s accounts were chronicled in contemporaneous contractual documents, emails and text messages reviewed by The Hill, including an exchange of texts between one woman and Bloom that suggested political action committees supporting Perennial Presidential Campaigner Hillary Crooked Hillary Clinton
... former first lady, former secretary of state, former presidential candidate, Conqueror of Benghazi, Heroine of Tuzla, formerly described by her supporters as the smartest woman in the world, usually described by the rest of us as The Thing That Wouldn't Go Away...
were contacted during the effort.

Bloom, who has assisted dozens of women in prominent harassment cases and also defended film executive Harvey Weinstein earlier this year, represented four women considering making accusations against Trump last year. Two went public, and two declined.

In a statement to The Hill, Bloom acknowledged she engaged in discussions to secure donations for women who made or considered making accusations against Trump before last year’s election.

on Thursday made addition to his earlier three demands as he now wants immediate arrest and physical remand of all those involved in Model Town incident and recovery of weapons of offence from them.

For the last few weeks, Qadri has been insisting on three demands, ie resignation of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif
...Pak dynastic politician, brother of PM Nawaz Sharif, chief minister of Punjab...
and Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, temporary removal of suspected babus bureaucrats and police officials from active duty and formation of a joint investigation team (JIT) on the pattern of the Panama Leaks.

Though he avoided any specific date and plan for his protest movement, which he was expected to announce, he asked the PAT workers to stay on toes for such a call.

"Both the PPP and the PTI are sitting on my left and right, soon the JI will also be on board ‐ for a movement," Mr Qadri claimed while addressing a lawyers’ convention at PAT Secretariat in Model Town.

"Today, the lawyers’ community has put its weight behind us, which would give new energy to our plans. We have already staged two sit-ins (for the removal of government), the third one would be decisive."

Kansas Dem Andrea Ramsey, accused of sexual harassment, will drop out of US House race
[KANSASCITY] Andrea Ramsey, a Democratic candidate for Congress, will drop out of the race after the Kansas City Star asked her about accusations in a 2005 lawsuit that she sexually harassed and retaliated against a male subordinate who said he had rejected her advances.

Multiple sources with knowledge of the case told The Star that the man reached a settlement with LabOne, the company where Ramsey was executive vice president of human resources. Court documents show that the man, Gary Funkhouser, and LabOne agreed to dismiss the case permanently after mediation in 2006.

Ramsey, a 56-year-old retired business executive from Leawood, was one of the Democratic candidates vying to challenge Republican Rep. Kevin Yoder in 2018 in Kansas’ 3rd District.

She was running with the endorsement of Emily’s List, a liberal women’s group that has raised more than a half-million dollars to help female candidates who support abortion rights.

Ramsey will drop out on Friday, her campaign said.

"In its rush to claim the high ground in our roiling national conversation about harassment, the Democratic Party has implemented a zero tolerance standard," Ramsey said in a statement Friday. "For me, that means a vindictive, terminated employee’s false allegations are enough for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) to decide not to support our promising campaign. We are in a national moment where rough justice stands in place of careful analysis, nuance and due process."

North Korea vows retaliation over US sea blockade
[Al Jazeera] North Korea warned the United States any imposition of a maritime blockade would be an act of war that would push the current standoff towards nuclear confrontation.

Discussion of a possible American sea blockade off the Korean Peninsula has emerged in media reports and academic circles in recent weeks, further ratcheting up tensions between Washington and Pyongyang.

The threat of nuclear war between the arch enemies has grown more real since US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
took office in January. He has threatened to "totally destroy" North Korea - demanding it surrender its nuclear and missile programmes.

Pyongyang has baulked at the demand saying it needs a functioning "state nuclear force" to prevent "invasion and plunder" by the United States, which has 28,500 troops stationed in neighbouring South Korea, a legacy of the 1950-53 Korean War.

#1  ...Well, in fairness, at least for once they're not running off at the mouth - a blockade is an act of war.

A traditional blockade is a really bad idea on our part - way too many big, high-value targets just cruising around out there waiting to get overrun. On the other hand, submarine-laid mines outside of their small number of ports gives you the same effect...

Palestinians killed in protests against Jerusalem move
[Al Jazeera] The corpse count has risen to four as Israeli forces violently crack down on Paleostinian protesters in besieged Gazoo and the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Local media reported that an 18-year-old Paleostinian, Muhammad Amin Aqel al-Adam, died after being shot by the Israeli military during Friday protests near the West Bank city of Ramallah.

Adam allegedly attempted to attack Israeli forces.

Another Paleostinian in the occupied West Bank was killed under similar circumstances hours earlier. Two Paleostinians in the Gazoo Strip died after being shot by Israeli forces during border protests.

One of the men killed, 29-year-old Ibrahim Abu Thurayya, had lost his legs in previous Israeli offensives on the blockaded strip.

According to the statement, a "large number of explosives used to make homemade bombs, automatic rifles, munitions and bully boy literature" were seized during the police operation.

FSB chief Alexander Bortnikov said on Tuesday that Russia was on alert for the possible return of Takfiri snuffies from Syria ahead of the FIFA World Cup and the presidential election in 2018.

Back in April, some 14 people were killed in an attack in Saint Petersburg.

Russia has been hit by a number of high-profile attacks by ISIS since the country became involved in the war on terror in Syria.

US signals Western Wall has to be part of Israel
[PRESSTV] The administration of US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
has signaled that the Western Wall, a site of worship in Jerusalem al-Quds’ Old City, has to be a part of Israel.

The declaration by two US bigwigs on Friday came amid mounting tension over Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel's capital.

The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, ruled out any scenario that did not retain Israeli control over the site.

"We cannot envision any situation under which the Western Wall would not be part of Israel. But as the president said, the specific boundaries of illusory sovereignty of Israel are going to be part of the final status agreement," the News Agency that Dare Not be Named quoted one of the officials as saying.

Another official later added by email, "We note that we cannot imagine Israel would sign a peace agreement that didn't include the Western Wall."

This also came ahead of Vice President Mike Pence's trip to the region on Wednesday, a visit Trump officials said is aimed at reinforcing the president's announcement on Jerusalem al-Quds.

Trump made the controversial announcement in a speech at the White House on December 6, saying his administration would also begin a process of moving the American embassy in Tel Aviv to the holy city, which is expected to take years.

Trump to stop spouses of H-1B visa holders from working
[PRESSTV] The White House has planned to stop the spouses of thousands of immigrant workers from getting jobs in the US.

The Department of Homeland Security said it plans to stop spouses of H-1B visa holders from working.

Since 2015, the spouses of H-1B visa holders waiting for green cards have been eligible to work in the US on H-4 dependent visas.

Highly skilled foreigners used the H-1B as a common visa route to find work at companies in the US.

The visa is valid for three years, and can be renewed for another three years.

In October, however, the US Citizenship and Immigration Services instructed its officers to toughen up the process for renewing visas, making renewing visas as difficult a process as initial visa applications.

In July, Trump signed the executive order that directs federal agencies to review and change a temporary visa program for high-skilled foreigners to ensure preference was accorded to the "most-skilled and highest-paid".

"We must never lower our guard again. We must defend and protect our party and remain genuine to the founding principles ... against people with very little history," Mnangagwa said, referring to the events that led to Mugabe's removal in November.

Over 7,000 delegates from across the country attended the congress, which was organised to confirm Mnangagwa as the party's first secretary and its presidential candidate ahead of 2018 elections.
