#1 I wasn't entirely sold on Cruz until......

#2 What I liked best about his announcement was that he did the entire speech without a teleprompter. Try getting Champ to do that...

#3 Cruz was intentionally provocative because he intends to make the Left itself the main issue.

"But why are leftists' heads exploding as well? I dunno, but its fun to watch after 6+ (seems like 30-40 years) years of leftists--a kind of schadenfreude.

After 8 years of Obozo, this might become a viable strategy for getting elected.

#4 I like Cruz a great deal, but he's still a newly minted Senator. Senators don't do well in presidential elections. More importantly, he needs to spend some time in government, get reelected once or twice. He's young. He has time.

#5 Wonder if he is just the lead off hitter testing the other side before the meat of the batting order comes up. Then he gets the vp job

#6 He's young. He has time.

But do we?

i like Cruz a great deal to and will probably vote for him (if I get the chance...). But the Democrats, media, and Republican Establishment are going to be gunning for him with smear-guns blazing. What they did to Palin will pale in comparison.

#7 Republican Establishment

The term for old Liberals who lost their party to the Socialist and took over the 'other party' as a means to continue to play politics. (see - Bushes, et al)

#8 Cruz is there to push the GOP toward smaller government. He's not expecting to win, but he is expecting to slash away at Jeb and the other closet Progressive Republicans and DC insiders like Karl Rove and his ilk.

#9 P2k, the Rinos aren't ex-liberals from the other party, they're the heirs to the Rockefeller Republicans that Barry Goldwater was fighting back in the '60s. They're the party that Reagan had to beat, too.

He was saddled with one of their cadre in GHWB and we can see what that led too. At best they mean well, but, they are committed members of the "Gov't. is always the answer" party. THAT's why Cruz and the Tea Party are hated, they proclaim the basest heresy.

#10 Cruz has done a very good job chairing the Space part of the Armed Services Comm.

#11 If he really wants to put the lefties into a complete stroke, he should float the name of a couple of black gay politicians as running mates...maybe even a Jewish one...

#12 Don't forget climate change, or global warming, or whatever they're calling it these days. Cruz is a denier, you know. And according to California's own Governor Moonbeam that makes him absolutely unfit to run for office. Because, of course, if you don't accept the progressive dogma you must be some kind of nuts.

#13 But do we?

Yeah, that is the question. We have a whole generation of young Americans who don't know anything but socialism but who don't even know it by its real name. It's progressive, dontcha know, and if you don't get with it you're a "radical". With the progressives in control of the schools and the media, it might already be too late.

What they do to Cruz is gonna be awful.

#14 Regarding Climate Change, some late night guy tried to ambush him on that and his answer was very solid.

I like the guy. I'm sympathetic to pleas of not enough experience but it seems to me teh experienced small government types are lacking in numbers.

#15 Whoever the Pubs run, whether conservative or RINO, will get demonized. Cruz has a good foundation of conservative principles--the present guy seems to have no foundation or principles.

#16 Just was on the cruz website. Seems his father came from Cuba where he (the father) was imprisoned and tortured.

Curious how the media will spin that...
