#3 Someone should read the story. No one steps forward to be identified, not even "senior Israeli secutity officials." The story has all the earmarks of a smear, most notably, no named sources.

Not even the Jerusalem Post has this story.

The soldiers now shooting their mouths off are part of an anti-Israeli Army group. The same folks who tried to invoke an erstwhile strike against the IDF amoungst reservists.

And Maariv is a suspect publication. They gotta be pro-labor. These were the same folks who wrote the Sharon bribery scandal story last year, an "scandal" so serious that the Ministry of Justice declined to charge Sharon with anything. There are very little in the way of verifiable facts, but a ton of agenda, I suspect.

This is just an Arab/Islamic smear. Take what you read with a rather large grain of salt.

Also, why would an Israeli goverment official "admitting" murder be an "challenge to the Jewish stateâs official insistence that its forces have abided by a strict code of ethics in battling the Palestinian intifada?" If anything, this story, if true, shows the obverse.

As a personal matter, I don't believe the thrust of the story: Revenge killing.
