#1 Bowe Bergdahl was a 23 year old PFC (promoted in absentia last June to SP4.) This is rather old for a PFC, who typically get this rank after four months time-in-grade as a Private (E-2) and 12 months time-in-service, with average age of 19.5 years old.

So this means he either enlisted at a later age, or was busted from a higher rank. If he was a late enlistee, it would be very interesting to see what he did for 3-4 years before enlisting.

Made more so by his family not commenting at all about him to the media. Rather atypical.

And how many PFCs know how to "dismantle a Nokia mobile telephone and turn it into a remote control for roadside bombs"?

#2 Y'all might want to know this fact, I was enlisted at the E-3 Rank because I had a valuable skill I was a Machinist before I enlisted.

That culd account for the oddity in rank, everybody does NOT start at E-1.
