#1 Whatever is a fruitless burden to the West is OK by the Chinese, I guess.

Of course, the West continues to take this on. Voluntarily. Give the South Koreans nukes and be done with it.

#2 General MacArthur, please call your office. All is well.

#3 No, China will inetrevene because ...
> It views the entire Korean Peninsula as a strategic route for invasion agz it by foreign powers.
> Is a GUARANTOR of North Korea's sovereignty + existence, to include the primacy of the NOKOR COMMIE-SOCIALIST MOVEMENT.
> China is looking for WARM-WATER PACIFIC PORTS FOR TRADE + PLA, ESPEC IN NORTHEAST ASIA [Japan-Okinawa to Taiwan] + "DRAGON'S TRIANGLE", which Beijing + PLA to be China's most vital front in peace or war, MORESO THAN THE SOUTH CHINA SEA. It why China has proclaimed it is willing to wage NucWar agz the US-Allied rather than give up Taiwan.
> The PLA allegedly has 10-20,000 elite troops inside North Korea providing close security for Kimmie + Family.

IMO the best one can say is that China may NOT militarily intervene agz the US + ROK in a major war on the Korean Peninsula as long as the NOKOR Govt is NOT DESTROYED + "VICTORIOUS" US-ROK, ALLIED MILFORS DON'T CROSS THE DMZ INTO NORTH KOREA - IOW, THE US + ROK CAN MIL FIGHT NORTH KOREA BUT NOT DEFEAT OR DESTROY NORTH KOREA + KIM REGIME, I.E "STATUS QUO", OR IN ALTERNATE THE US + ROK DELIBERATELY LOSE MILITARILY AGZ NORTH KOREA.

versus

* ION TOPIX > [Wikileaks] "CHINA WON'T BE ABLE TO STOP NORTH KOREA'S COLLAPSE", after the death of Kim Jong-il according to Vice-FM + Trade Minister Chun Yung-hoo back in February 2010.

ARTIC > Minister Chun Yung-hoo believes that NORTH KOREA HAS ALREADY COLLAPSED ECONOMICALLY, + WILL COLLAPSE POLITICALLY NMT 2-3 YEARS AFTER KJI's PASSING.

* DEFENCE FORUM INDIA > BLOOMBERG: CHINA'S FALL, NOT ITS RISE, IS THE REAL GLOBAL THREAT.

ME > China's heavily regulated Communist Govt-Society versus Post-US = New #1 Global Superpower-wannabe requirements, espec vee Modern Trade.

#4 OOPSIES, forgot TOPIX > SHADE OF 1962: NEW INDO-CHINA WAR TO BEGIN AT SEA?

Naval moves and countermoves by Indjuh + China in East Indian Ocean + South China Sea eerily similar to provocations which led to 1962 war???

and

* CHINA DAILY FORUM > POSTER OPED: ARAB SPRINGS TO LEAD TO CHINA WINTER?, or grey-ish "China Autumn"?

#5 Support them militarily? No.
Support them politically and financially to make sure the government that unites Korea is at least a friendly neutral to China and hostile to the West? Yes.

#6 Or in the alternative, take that 25 mile perimeter along the Yalu River in North Korea as part of 'historical lost Chinese territory', and establish the new border there. That would let the ChiComs establish an easily defended border with a bunch of useful mines, factories, and other facilities already in place.

#7 Wouldn't Chinese be better off, not having crazy people as neighbors?

#8 Y'all are all thinking of new and exciting ways for China to benefit for having created and supported the totalitarian state of North Korea for the last sixty years.

North Korea is their buffer state between them and a non-tribute-state of non-Han. If their government depopulates their country so that in the future it can be populated with Han, they think it's a feature, not a bug. And as long as it's bleeding S. Korea and the US more than it bleeds them, that's a feature too.

#12 "Chinese leaders, bureaucrats and citizens neither like nor support many North Korean policies and actions it has taken at home and abroad, including its development of missiles and nuclear weapons and its attacks on South Korea last year,"

That has a ring of truth to it. Having to justify North Korea's actions is like having to justify the actions of a drunken, jobless, wife-beating younger brother. Nobody "likes or supports" that.

#13 More ...

* PRAVDA > KURILS TO BECOME RUSSIA'S FORTRESS IN FAR EAST.

IMO read, Russia SSSSSSHHHHHHHH wants SCO-CSTO ally + strategic partner Rising China to come up against the US-Japan-ROK, UNC etc. in the Okinawa, Taiwan Straits = DRAGON'S TRIANGLE.

We already know about VIETNAM'S new rapprochment wid RUSSIA, US, ISRAEL, JAPAN, + INDJUH ala CAM RANH BAY + other Ports, + SOuth China Sea disputes. DITTO THE PHILIPPINES WID INDIA + JAPAN in the SOuth China Sea, + or course the US.

* New Players or Wannabes = IRAN'S + TURKEY'S + PAKISTAN'S NAVIES.

Lets also not fergit the new US-AUSTRALIA SECURITY ALLIANCE, ee US support for across-theboard Aussie military modernization + USN Carrier rights.

Taken collectively, that leaves China + PLA the TAIWAN-HAINAN CORRIDOR BETWEEN OKINAWA + NORTHERN PHIL, AIMING STRAIGHT AT GUAM-CNMI-WESTPAC, + FSM.

* DEFENCE.PK/FORUMS > CHINA'S MILITARY PLANES LEADS TO TRIPLING OF JAPAN [Air SDF] JET SCRAMBLES. Approximately 83 times = 3 times more for same six-month period in 2010.

* WAFF > TENSIONS FLARE OVER OIL IN SOUTH CHINA SEA [China demands India halt joint energy project wid Vietnam]; + CHINA FUMING OVER NEW ENERGY DEVLOPMENT AGREEMENT BETWEEN INDIA + VIETNAM.

* WORLD MIL FORUM > CHINA AGAIN WARNS JAPAN THAT PROPOSED NEW JAPAN SDF DESTROYER, AIR RECCE PATROLS IN DISPUTED DAOYUS ARE "UNACCEPTABLE" VIOLATIONS OF CHINA'S SOVEREIGNTY, + MAY PERMANENTLY DAMAGE BILATERAL RELATIONS.

* CHINA DAILY FORUM > BLOG:JAPAN MAY HAVE DOMINAT TERRITORIAL CLAIMS OVER TAIWAN.

Japan in better geographic or strategic position than the US to military defend or protect Taiwan from mainland China, vee Japan-controlled Yonaguni Island which is nearby to Taiwan + where Japan plans to expand the SDF presence there.

* SAME > US DEVELOPING NEW WEAPON TO DESTROY CHINA FROM US MAINLAND | AMERICA BREAKS MACH 20 SPEED LIMIT FOR WAR AGZ CHINA [HTV-2 project].

Wehell, whether China mil strikes via TAIWAN across OKINAWA into WESTPAC; or via HAINAN ACROSS THE NORTHERN PHILIPPINES into WESTPAC, GUAM-CNMI-WESTPAC WILL BE THERE.
