#1 And the Krauts were the first to do it. Granted the curved barrel attachments would wear out rapidly but they had to be a lot cheaper

#4 Don't you young whippersnappers recall that LIFE magazine had some photos of just such a weapon (minus the TV sight) for house-to-house fighting, around the end of the WWII European campaign?

Must not have worked very well, since it disappeared from sight after the war. But the grim troopers poking that curved barrel around corners made great photos anyway.
