#1 I'm not impressed with Stephenson's writing. Maybe it's the editor in me, but this is clunky.

#2 Pappy - I haven't read the novel, though some people I respect couldn't put it down.

Yeah, his writing is sort of long-winded, but the descriptions of the "Modern Language Association types" and the others is dead on for the Left and the rest of us.
