#1 Gov. Kathleen Blanco appealed for an end to the bickering that has dominated Louisiana's hurricane recovery on Monday as she announced the creation of a new panel to oversee the process.

Is this a panel of people already on the take? Or will it be a new crop of trainees?

#2 We need a committee like we need a hole in the head. We need one guy/gal with the nads to make some tough decisions before the patient dies on the operating table.

Interesting, too, that despite the bitching about Mike Brown's lack of experience in disaster recovery neither Francis nor Isaacson has any experience in that department.

Francis is a good guy by all accounts but not what I'd call a dynamic leader. Isaacson's a local kid made good, but he's a frickin' journalist and maybe looking for material for his next book.
