#3 No mention that the reason the canopy wouldn't open was because some brilliant individual had used the wrong length of screw, which had worked slightly out of its hole.

The FOB was to replace every one of those screws in every aircraft.

N.B.: these may be ordinary screws, or they may be made of amazingly peculiar alloys.
