#1 yes - but while I'm probably in the most wishful of the wishful thinking mode - isn't it also possible that the police are finally working to make the beaches safe for families, women and lifesavers and this is the press spinning that they are doing to keep the Muslims safe from the racist gangs?

#2 Yes, Anon1, the statement from authorities is made in the most PC bullshit manor. But doesn't the very heavy presence of patrols insure that normal Aussies can go about their pleasure on the beaches? Any Muzzie gangs...and they always operate in gangs...would be spotted and rounded up right away, no ? Of course, I don't have your insight on these things from up here in the states.
