#1 Gregg Easterbrook, in this week's "Tuesday Morning Quarterback" column:

Will Belichick even be in coaching by season's end? When the Vick dogfighting scandal first broke, most football pundits, and most in the Atlanta and league offices, thought there would be few repercussions. Then they thought Vick would have to make some kind of apology. Then they thought he'd need some leave of absence. Then they thought he'd be suspended for a year. Now they wonder whether he'll ever be allowed to play again. By acting Nixonian, Belichick is accelerating his fall from grace. Today, Belichick and New England are trying to pretend the scandal is over. It would not surprise me in the slightest if, before the season ends, Belichick resigns, or is suspended, or is fired by Kraft, or even is permanently barred from the league. Belichick's head might be necessary to preserve the integrity of the game. Surprisingly soon, sacrificing Belichick to save professional football might seem an attractive option, even to Kraft. Remember, there is no law of nature that says the NFL must remain popular.

#3 well, they kicked my Chargers' asses last week without tape, but they also won a great number of games by three or less points the last couple years. How many were won because Brady knew a strong-side blitz was coming and checked off for a screen? If Belichick doesn't come clean with all his tapes (proving it was more widespread than he admitted) the Mangina can let the league know, since he participated in this before he jumped ship and tattled... BB is in deep doo doo

#4 Of course the Eagles losing to the Pats in that Super Bowl had everything to do with cheating and NOTHING to do with Eagle's Coach Andy Reid moronic play calling in the 4th quarter of the game. I swear it feels like Sept. 10th again.

#6 One overriding, always prominent characteristic of a winner is to take your lumps, and to never make excuses. All the great teams had this characteristic in spades.

And it's the reason why the Eagles aren't in that category. Brian Westbrook, if this is a prevailing opinion in Philly, please, find a team with character.

#7 If I have my stats right, the Pats at home have only allowed an average of 13.6 points against them since 2002.....seems the Chargersm fall into that average...
