#1 May 2008? Interesting choice of days. That is about the same time that the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is scheduled to come into operation. It's designed to create the Higgs boson (God Particle), but an unforseen consequence from the whole thing might lead to a miniature black hole being created, which will in turn destroy the Earth.
