This isn't all that unlikely. The easiest thing for our enemies is to take our paychecks and plot against us. Wouldn't be the first time it's happened, either. Just because someone takes your money doesn't mean he's on your side.

I've already noticed (more) stories lately of US forces whacking putative allies/friendly fire/innocent civilians. Later, the story is retracted but to the casual Obama supporting voter, the mental image of incompetent trigger happy Cheney-directed killbots lingers. MSM says, "Oops, our bad!"
