#2 Anyone bothering to click through the link will see little connection between the article urging a return to a firm US dipomatic and cultural stance on adherence to freedom of religion, and Pocopius' knee-jerk reaction to the thought of (horrors!) defending Christians as a revival of the Crusades. His reaction only confirms that hostility to Christianity and Christians isn't limited to Islamic countries.

#3 Someone help me out here. I was just reading about the Treaty of Antioch where the Christians of the the Near East peacefully gave up control of Jerusalem and the rest of the holy sites to the Caliph of Baghdad. Why would we ever fight or 'crusade' to take back what was so willingly given up. Shame on those Christians to want back what was theirs or to think of fighting to keep it. Too bad you only have two cheeks to turn unless of course you do it over and over again. Oh, by the way 2K, George W was right when he called for a crusade, sadly he pulled that punch way to early. Deus vult to their allah akbar.

Not being Catholic, but if Benedict did call for it once again, I might have to seriously think about taking vows.

The Crusades were in response to the conquests and deprivations of the Islamics and their jihad which had been barely turned away at Tours and would break once again before the gates of Vienna. Unlike the cultural traitors within, I see Western Civilization having delivered to the vast population of the world better living and longer life through the fruits of science and technology, only possible by the freedoms and liberties it practices. It's not perfect, but the real record shows its exceeded the others by far.
