#1 One thing I've wondered about this little kerfuffle is the true strength of the KSA.

They have always seemed like the ultimate stable base for anything going on in the mid-east. Any trouble on the periphery (see Kuwait) and someone else would jump in. Now it seems that KSA must take the lead with some other weapon than the price of oil.

Could KSA actually be more like the USSR? A country with a formidable looking shell but weak in the middle?

What happens when that shell is cracked? Will the whole country crumble as the USSR did? Remember the speed with with which the Soviet empire disintegrated once the first crack appeared.

Keep frackin' boys. We're gonna need it.

#2 Ksa is construct, and a poorly designed one at that. The custodians and ground keepers of the two attractions should have been kept separate from the small coastal strip of land that is Shia and produces 80% of the oil.
