An oversupply that quickly disappears when the conquests stop. But in the meantime, selling a few back to their communities for exhorbitant ransoms is a lucrative financing source that offsets the cheap prices found in the slave markets.

It puts them at risk of being attacked/killed for speaking out

It shows they are cowards and bullies
