#5 Young MissJohnQC lives in Austin. She is thinking of moving to another place, in part, because wealthy migrant Californians from places like Silicone Valley are moving to Austin and driving up housing costs to the point of unaffordability.

#6 Trailing daughter #2 and Mr. daughter (yes, I am having fun doing this properly -- why do you ask?) moved to Dallas last October. Td#2 told me house prices are appreciating at the rate of 1% per month, and houses are selling so quickly that buyers are putting in offers sight unseen -- and often offers on multiple houses in the hope that at least one will be accepted. This concerned me until she said in Dallas there is a period of time after the seller accepts an offer that the buyer can cancel without penalty, lest they be on the hook for three or four properties at once.
