#5 For Democrats, losing an election is not the end of the line. She can always get a job as a lobbyist or a bureaucrat is she displays her communist bona fides. Home state voters be damned.

#6 Don't forget academia for soft jobs, and book deals for further well-deserved rewards. But you only get the payoff -after- the job.
(FWIW, not all professorships in academia are soft, but pols rarely retire into STEM.)
