#8 A young woman I know is in the Army Reserve. She has received orders and is being activated for a deployment to Syria.

I don't know if this is just a normal rotation of troops or if it signifies a escalation.

In either case, we have no business risking lives to save Muslims. They all hate us and if the more they kill each other, the better.

#13 Well there is oil being exported from the US controlled areas in Sryia - and the Turkish and Iranian. The residue Syrian official government (backed by the Russians) is losing all that potential revenue. So far everyone has tried to only target the indigenous forces not the advisors. If US direct assets deliberately strike direct assets of one of the other players, tit for tat could easily escalate. The US supply chain is far longer than those of the other contestants. FWIW if we’d created an independent Kurdistan 20 years ago it’d have been a more tranquil situation - or at least a different set of more solvable problems
