#2 The J6 civil disobedience and political protest being hyper-exaggerated into an "insurrection"(albeit the only one in history where only the government had arms), and the show-trials and deceptive claims of illegal intent to question the election were the essential predicate behind the Smith Indictment. The trial and the almost certain conviction of President Trump for no actual crimes will create the justification for barring him from the ballot in 2024. As incredible as it may sound, the 14th Amendment, Section 3 language will be used to cast a "convicted" Trump as an insurrectionist, hence ineligible for the ballot.

Undoubtedly, the entire sham will be overturned in due course, after every procedural delay in the DoJ playbook, by the US Supreme Court. But the timing will be such, that it will not have been vacated in time for the elections. The process is the blocking strategy, not the eventual outcome. Like Ted Stevens in Alaska, Trump will be eventually vindicated, but denied a return to the Presidency.

XIV, Sec 3: "No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability. "
