#1 They didn't go to Texas Courthouses and read old 1800's property deeds, during the years of Comanches, marauding bands of outlaws and Mexican army raids, if you refused to agree to the wording to "protect and defend" your deeded Texas land during the frontier days then Texas didn't want you.
