#5 I remember when in the movie The Dark Knight using everyone's cell phones as an echo-location device was wild sci-fi.

Chances are that was already a real thing back in 2008.

#6 It's probably worse than they can imagine. They go thru SIM cards like some people eat potato chips. There's a good chance the SIM cards themselves have little undocumented features installed that makes location just part of the deal.
