Actually there's a fairly large tourist industry that caters to Christians - IIRC the Apostle Paul travled through Anatolia, I know more than a few people who have taken tours that retrace his steps.

#4 Was considering Turkey for my next break, but had some misgivings due the security factor (OK, I know, what's someone in Baghdad worrying about in Turkey! But of course here I'm pretty safe, not out in Shi'a markets very often ....). The female friend who's traveling to meet me was also a bit wary - she pays attention, though I don't think she's YET reading R'burg regularly - so we said the hell with it and we're going to enjoy a luxury resort in hot-as-hell Dubai. So wrack up one small victory for the Hawks ....

#5 go ahead and enjoy. Your chances of getting hit by a truck or crashing in a plane are probably greater than being at the right time and place for a terrorist attack. Besides, if others are staying away - that might mean good deals :-)

#7 Avoid Turkey if you can, go to Greece instead the people there are just as arrogant but not so aggressive. In turkey its considered polite to swear and curse your parentage whilst bartering in the market.
