Gunsex on Massoud Day Kills One, Injures Five
[Tolo News] Celebratory gunfire on Tuesday left one civilian dead and five injured, once again raising anger against authorities who seem unable to prevent the reckless behavior among gun owners even in the country's major cities.

During celebrations for Massoud Day, the national holiday honoring the mujahedeen commander Ahmad Shah Massoud, a 21year-old male in Kabul was killed and five others, including a woman and child, were maimed by stray bullets.

The families of the victims have demanded action be taken against those responsible, who some seem to believe were coppers.

in connection to Tuesday's shootings, but declined to offer any more details.

"The police are strictly investigating the Tuesday shootings and killing of a youth," Ministry of Interior front man Sediq Sediqqi said.

Faraidoon, the young male who was killed by errant fire Tuesday night, lived in the Khair Khana area of Kabul. According to Abdul Razaq, his brother, Faraidoon was a strong athlete.

"He was in the yard with me and we were watching the mourners, I saw a bullet hit his head and blood went everywhere, and my brother hit the ground," Razaq recalled.

There are many who point blame at local police, who they say do not do anything to stop celebratory shooting, and in some cases are the ones who are doing it.

"People were shooting a few meters away from the 11th police district with Kalashnikovs, but the police did nothing," a friend of Faraidoon named Muhammad Daud said. "Bullets were being fired even from the police trucks."

Another young adolescent named Farid was injured by the scattered fire on Tuesday night. As a street seller, Farid is an important bread winner in his family, but he now faces the possibility of never walking again after being hit by a bullet in the waist.

"I hid behind a vehicle when I saw the gun, but the bullet hit my waist," Farid told TOLOnews.

In other parts of the country there were casualties left by blind shooting on Tuesday as well. In Pashtun-infested Logar, another young boy was reportedly paralyzed by a stray bullet.

Officials from the Ministry of Interior met with police chiefs of all districts in Kabul on Tuesday night and ordered them to take action against anyone caught shooting without due cause.
