According to local sources in the city, one of the button men, believed to belong to the "Shabwah Defense" factions, opened fire on the citizens while they were in a "cafeteria" for selling juices near the headquarters of the security department in the province, leaving two dead and one maimed, on the background of a tribal revolt between the ’Al Nasser’ and ’Rubiz’ tribes in al-Awaleq.
The sources confirmed that the button men managed to flee to an unknown destination, and no action was taken to chase them by the factions loyal to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC).
Shabwah has been witnessing an unprecedented insecurity state and chaos due to the spread of pro-coalition factions since the beginning of 2016 in several districts to fuel tribal conflicts by disbursing money and weapons to ensure the achievement of the interests of the coalition.
