I did the best I could in terms of articles last night, badanov, but it went on long enough I gave up and left it for this morning.

So today I’m getting done in bits over the course of the day, which is no doubt a better way to handle it anyway.

'Swatting for Hire': Extremist Group Offers Fake School Shooting Threats for Just $20 as FBI Scrambles to Respond
[IBTimes] The FBI is investigating the threats, which have already led to the arrest of other group members

An bully boy group is offering fake school‑shooting threats for as little as $20 (£14.79), triggering a nationwide law enforcement alert and raising urgent concerns about how bully boy online networks are weaponising emergency systems.

This practice, known as 'swatting for hire', involves malicious actors placing false emergency calls in order to provoke an armed police response. The tactic not only drains public safety resources, it also endangers the lives of students, faculty, and bystanders.

COORDINATED CAMPUS ATTACKS BEGIN WITH TELEGRAM GROUP PURGATORY
According to Wired, a person using the online alias 'Gores' claims to be co‑leader of an online group named Purgatory, which has links to the bully boy network known as The Com. Gores and another member, known as 'tor', began placing swatting calls on 21 August. That same day, both the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and Villanova University were forced into lockdowns following fake reports of active shooters.

Inside Higher Ed later reported that 19 swatting calls had been confirmed at American universities between 19—28 August. Targets included Mercer University, the University of Wisconsin—Madison, the University of Utah, and the University of New Hampshire.

Villanova University, a Catholic school in Pennsylvania, was hit twice in four days. During the second incident, a hoax call forced students and faculty to evacuate during an orientation Mass. Student Ava Petrosky, who was singing at the time, told CNN
...formerly the Cable News Network, now who know what it might stand for...
she thought she was going to die.

At the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, senior Luke Robbins described chaos as armed police stormed the building: 'In two seconds, the whole classroom evacuated. Run outside, there's cops with ARs [assault rifles] in the hallways, and they're like, "Hey, go up this way," so we get out. Run across the street. There's even more cops telling us to go. I mean, it was just hectic. It's crazy.'

LIVESTREAMED CHAOS AND A PAID CAMPAIGN OF TERROR
As the swatting spree escalated, Purgatory members reportedly livestreamed their actions on Discord to an audience of around 40 people. Wired confirmed that researchers had monitored these calls in real time and reviewed recordings of swatting attempts shared by members.

Gores told Wired that swatting attacks were available for hire—initially offered for $20, with prices increasing to $95 during the current campaign. The group also advertised threats against hospitals, businesses, and airports for $50. So-called 'brickings' and 'slashings' were listed at $10. Gores further claimed that Purgatory had earned roughly $100,000 during the spree, although Wired could not independently verify that figure.

Not every hoax was successful. One researcher affiliated with the Global Project Against Hate and Extremism (GPAHE) was able to intercept a live call targeting Bucknell University in Pennsylvania and alert campus security, preventing a police deployment. In another case, the same researcher heard Gores include the sound of a shotgun blast in the background of a hoax call to try to convince emergency responders of its authenticity.

FBI INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY, PAST ARRESTS HIGHLIGHT THE THREAT
The FBI confirmed it is investigating the rise in swatting incidents and said it is seeing an increase in such events across the country. In a public statement, the agency warned: 'Knowingly providing false information to emergency service agencies about a possible threat to life drains law enforcement resources, costs thousands of dollars and, most importantly, puts innocent people at risk.'

Wired also reported that Nicole Mueksch, a spokesperson for the University of Colorado Boulder, said the university police are working with 'state and federal partners, including the FBI, to explore any potential leads or patterns that may be connected to other recent swatting cases across the country.'

The group's activities are not entirely new. In 2024, three Purgatory members—Owen Jarboe, Brayden Grace, and Evan Strauss—were arrested in connection with swatting attacks on a Delaware high school, a trailer park in Alabama, Albany International Airport, an Ohio casino, and a private residence in Georgia. All three pleaded guilty earlier this year to charges including conspiracy, cyberstalking, and threatening to damage property with fire or explosives.

Despite the scrutiny, Gores told Wired the campaign would continue for another two months. When asked if he was concerned about the FBI's investigation, he replied: 'Shit don't put fear into me. Just another day in our life yk?'

Germany: Munich car ramming suspect charged with murder
[DW] The attack in February killed a two-year-old girl and her mother and injured dozens of people. The prosecutor's office said the suspect, an Afghan national, had an Islamist motive.

Germany's Federal Prosecution on Tuesday filed charges against a man accused of driving a car into a demonstration by trade union Verdi in Munich, killing two people.

The suspect, named Farhad N.
…more fully Farhad Noori, the arrogant Moslem colonist whose asylum application was rejected, but he was not deported anyway…
in accordance with Germany's privacy laws, is accused of two charges of murder and 44 charges of attempted murder, the prosecution said, with his motive being his "excessive religious motivation."

Farhad N., an Afghan national, said he decided to carry out the attack and kill Germans indiscriminately as a reaction to the suffering of Moslems in predominantly Islamic countries, according to the prosecution.

The attack took place last February, as Germany's biggest trade union, Verdi, held a demonstration in Munich.

A 37-year-old woman and her 2-year-old daughter were killed in the attack, and many others were severely injured.

The Higher Regional Court in Munich will have to approve the charges.

The Munich attack was carried out less than two weeks before the German general election, heating the debate on tougher migration policies. The AfD achieved its best-ever result in that election, with over 20% of the vote.

Then-opposition leader and now-Chancellor Friedrich Merz, of the conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU), said that the safety of the people in Germany would be a priority for his future government.

The Bavarian branch of the AfD party demanded that Bavarian Premier Markus Söder, from the conservative CSU party, resign. The CSU is the sister party of the CDU.

Söder himself said that a "fundamental" change has to take place in Germany.

Dresden: Man arrested after tram knife attack on US citizen
[DW] A 21-year-old Syrian citizen is in investigative custody in Dresden after a young American man was stabbed in the face on a tram over the weekend in the eastern German city. New information may link him to the attack.

Dresden police and prosecutors said on Tuesday that they had arrested a 21-year-old Syrian in connection with a knife attack on a late-night tram in the city over the weekend.

He was detained in the early hours of Tuesday, police said, and was put in investigative custody on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, among other offenses.

The man in question had already been detained once before and was released soon after the incident, with no initial indication of him being directly involved in injuring a young American. But Sherlocks said new information might implicate him more directly.

Police said in a blurb that after further investigation there was now reasonable grounds to suspect that he was "involved in the knife attack against the 20-year-old American and also himself injured the victim with a dangerous object."

Tuesday's statement made no direct mention of the second suspect, originally believed to be the prime culprit behind the injuries sustained by the American man. As of Monday afternoon, authorities in the eastern German state of Saxony were still seeking him and had appealed for help from potential witnesses.

2 French teens charged over plot to attack synagogues, Eiffel Tower — report
[IsraelTimes] Two French teens were charged earlier this month for conspiring to carry out terror attacks on synagogues and the Eiffel Tower, Le Figaro reports.

The newspaper says the two suspects came from Arab-Muslim families and shared a fascination with the Islamic State terror group.

The two minors — aged 15 and 17 — also discussed the possibility of traveling abroad to fight and were heavy consumers of ultra-violent online content, the newspaper says.

According to the French outlet, the teens were arrested on July 29 and 30 amid an investigation that began in April. The two were charged on August 1, the newspaper says.

IDF inaugurates 1st joint air and ground forces base, implementing lessons learned on Oct. 7
[IsraelTimes] The IDF says it inaugurated a new training base yesterday for the Combat Intelligence Collection Array at Ovda Airbase, marking the first time the Ground Forces and air force will jointly operate a base.

The facility, part of the Border Defense Corps school, is designed to centralize the professional training of combat intelligence soldiers, with a focus on aerial and ground intelligence collection. According to the IDF, the move reflects lessons learned from the October 7 attack and aims to strengthen cooperation between the branches.

“This is an unprecedented step — establishing a [Ground Forces] training base inside [Ovda Airbase],” said Ground Forces head Maj. Gen. Nadav Lotan. He added that the project was part of efforts to build combat intelligence into a professional framework, stressing that the new base would provide “resilience for the observers and the readiness of the array.”

Israeli Air Force chief Maj. Gen. Tomer Bar said the initiative underscored the power of joint operations.

“Cooperation between the ground forces and the Air Force proves its strength as a significant force multiplier, one that has no substitute,” he said. “Today we are paving a new and shared path — operational, infrastructural, and cultural. This is the beginning of a deep process that spreads along and across the air force and the Ground Forces, a process that will strengthen the IDF and strengthen the security of the State of Israel.”

Massive population growth in Gaza after October 7
From May, but I think the analysis still holds. Key bits:
[DanielSpeaksUp] This may be the first “genocide” in history in which the population GREW significantly larger.

The Palestinian population in Gaza grew significantly since October 7, 2023 according to data from the CIA World Factbook. This includes the time period of Israel’s defensive war against the Hamas terror organization: which terror apologists (falsely) call a “genocide.” Indeed, this may be the first “genocide” in history in which the population grew massively larger.

Published by America’s Central Intelligence Agency, the CIA World Factbook shows a population in Gaza over the past three years of: 2022: 1,997,328; 2023: 2,098,389; and 2024: 2,141,643. This indicates a growth rate in Gaza over the past year of 2.06%, which is more than double the US growth rate during the same period, at only 0.98%.

How is it possible that Gaza’s population grew so much over the past year?

Quite simply because Israel has been so incredibly cautious in its defensive military campaign against Hamas, and has provided such an overwhelming amount of humanitarian aid, that the number of people who died in Gaza was actually LESS than the number of new babies born. In fact, in Gaza, both birth rates (26.8/1000) and life expectancy (75.5 years) remain among the highest in the world, even during the current conflict.

Argument: The vast majority of casualties in Gaza are women and children.

Reality: No. Updated figures from Hamas’ “Gaza Ministry of Health” reveal that most casualties in Gaza were actually men of combat age. Independent and Israeli analyses have always shown this to be the case, and now, even Hamas figures agree.

This means the widespread myth that most casualties in Gaza are “women and children” is supported by…literally nothing.

Argument: Over 50,000 people died in Gaza, making it one of the most deadly conflicts in history.

Reality: The Hamas terror organization, which is notoriously unreliable, claims a figure around that scale. Even if accurate, that number is far less than other conflicts in the region, such as Syria (over 650,000), Yemen (over 230,0000), and Afghanistan (over 270,000). In fact, the number of casualties in Gaza is so low that it is less than Gaza’s birth rate during the same period. Indeed, the civilian to combatant casualty ratio in Gaza is the among the lowest in human history for a conflict of this type, nine times less than the UN published global average, and experts note that Israel has set an entirely new standard for the level of care that is possible in urban warfare.

Argument: Death toll in Gaza is similar to the Holocaust on a per capita basis.

Answer: No. Throughout the six years between 1939 and 1945 the Jewish population of Europe decreased by over 60% and now, nearly a century later, the world Jewish population still has not fully recovered. (The global Jewish population on the eve of the Holocaust in 1939 stood at 16.9 Million, versus today, at only 15.8 Million.) By contrast, the Palestinian population in Gaza is among the fastest GROWING in the world, even now, during the current conflict.

Argument: The attacks of October 7 were the equivalent to the Warsaw Ghetto uprising, and an example of “resistance” which is permitted under international law.

Answer: No. Though we have written this numerous times in the past, it bears repeating: October 7, 2023 saw the largest murder of Jews since the Holocaust, as the Hamas terror organization, along with Palestinian civilians and U.N. staff, invaded Israel, killed over 1,200 people in approximately six hours, and took 251 hostage, all while committing mass torture, beheadings, and mass rape.

The pace of murder in that six hour period is hard to comprehend: had Hamas continued to kill at that rate (as it had intended), then by today, the death toll in Israel would would have reached over 2.7 Million - an even faster pace of killing than that achieved by the Nazis during the Holocaust.

Iraq to return over 200 nationals from Syria's al-Hol Thursday: Ministry
[Rudaw] Iraq's migration and displacement ministry announced they would repatriate over 200 Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
-linked (ISIS) families from Syria's al-Hol camp on Thursday evening, as part of Baghdad's ongoing efforts to empty the notorious facility which Iraq views as a threat to its national security.

"Around 800 Iraqi national individuals will return home from al-Hol camp of Syria this evening," Ali Abbas, spokesperson for Iraq's Ministry of Migration and Displacement, told Rudaw.

Abbas added they do not know "the exact number until after they arrive because the lists we have are old and numbers could change."

Thursday's repatriation marks the 29th batch of its kind since the Iraqi government started the campaign in 2021, two years after the territorial defeat of ISIS in the neighboring country.

Located in eastern Syria's Hasakah province, al-Hol camp is infamous for its squalid conditions and has been branded a breeding ground for terrorism. Iraqis and Syrians make up the majority of the nearly 40,000 ISIS-linked people who have been held at the camp since the defeat of the group in 2019. There are also people in the camp from around the world who had traveled to join the so-called ISIS caliphate.

Kurdish politician and member of the migration committee in the Iraqi parliament Sherwan Dubardani told Rudaw that those who will be returned Thursday come from Anbar, Nineveh, Salahaddin, and Babil provinces.

The families will be temporarily placed at al-Jadaa camp in Nineveh province, where they will be rehabilitated before being allowed to return to their home communities.

Iraq has repeatedly expressed its serious concerns that al-Hol is a threat to its national security. The camp acts as a "ticking bomb," to Iraqi national security, Chargé d'Affaires at the Embassy of Iraq in Damascus, Yassin Sharif al-Hujaimi, told Rudaw on Wednesday.

Iraq has recently sent out invitations to all countries that have nationals at the al-Hol camp to attend an international conference in New York next September in a bid to discuss mechanisms to empty and subsequently dismantle the notorious facility.

Iraq has been repatriating its citizens from the camps in groups and providing rehabilitation. Baghdad's aim is to encourage more countries to follow suit.

Other countries, however, remain reluctant to take back their nationals over fears of murderous Moslem ideology spreading at home.

Baghdad has set a goal of repatriating all Iraqi citizens from camps in Rojava by 2027.
