Little Rock Officer fires at driver through windshield 15 times (Video)
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) ‐ The Little Rock Police Department has released footage from a deadly officer-involved shooting that shows the officer on the hood of a car firing at least 15 times into the windshield.

Mayor Frank Scott said Thursday that the department, along with an outside marketing group, compiled dashcam footage, video from nearby businesses’ security cameras, and radio traffic from the Feb. 22 incident. Scott said the videos weren’t edited, and he urged the public to remain calm and trust in due process.

Scott’s spokeswoman said Friday that Starks is still being paid but is no longer performing any departmental duties during the investigation, and was ordered to surrender his badge and gun.

In the nearly 25 minute-long video, various angles show the confrontation between Officer Charles Starks, who is white, and 30 year-old Bradley Blackshire, who was black. Police said Starks was responding to a call after a detective confirmed the car Blackshire was driving was stolen.

R. Kelly Screams as He Fights Back at Sexual Abuse Charges: "I’ve Been Assassinated"
[HOLLYWOODREPORTER] The R&B singer ‐ who is facing 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse involving three minors ‐ broke his silence in an explosive interview where he denied the claims on 'CBS This Morning.' "I'm not a devil and by no means am I a monster," he says.

R. Kelly broke his silence on the sexual abuse charges he is facing Wednesday. The R&B singer sat down with CBS This Morning's Gayle King for nearly 80 minutes Tuesday and the result is an explosive interview that saw Kelly growing combative and so emotionally overwhelmed while defending himself ‐ at one point standing and screaming into the camera ‐ that King had to temporarily pause the interview.

"I'm very tired of all the lies. I've been hearing things and seeing things on the blogs and I'm just tired," he told King when the cameras started rolling, explaining why he has decided to speak out.

King asked him which lies disturbed him the most.

"Oh my God. Um ‐ all of them," he said, then rattled off: "Got little girls trapped in the basement, helicopters over my house trying to rescue someone that doesn't need rescuing because they're not in my house. Handcuffing people, starving people. I have a harem, what you call it ‐ a cult. I don't even really know what a cult is. But I know I don't have one."

Kelly, whose legal name is Robert Kelly, has been charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, with three of the four victims being underage at the time of the alleged assaults, according to reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown

and could face up to 70 years. Kelly is due back in court March 22.

The Grammy-winning artist has been under scrutiny for more than a decade. Kelly was previously tossed in the slammer

in 2002 for his alleged involvement in a child pornography tape ‐ with a girl as young as 13 ‐ and was acquitted when the case went to trial six years later. Lifetime's recent six-part docuseries Surviving R. Kelly explored that scandal in particular, along with sexual abuse allegations from a number of women, including Kelly's ex-wife Andrea Lee, when it released to record numbers for the network in early January.

Jussie Smollett Indicted on 16 Felony Counts by Chicago Grand Jury
[HOLLYWOODREPORTER] A reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
... home of Al Capone, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel,...
grand jury on Friday indicted Empire actor Jussie Smollett on 16 felony counts for allegedly lying to police about a supposed hate crime attack.

A request for more information from the Cook County State's Attorney's Office was not immediately returned, but the indictment reads, in part, "Jussie Smollett knew that at the time ... there was no reasonable ground for believing that such offenses had been committed," according to section cited by CBS Chicago News.

A request for comment from Smollett's attorneys was not immediately returned.

The actor was charged last month with felony disorderly conduct and released on $100,000 bail.

The actor reported in late January that he had been viciously attacked by two men who yelled pro-Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
remarks mixed with racist and homophobic language.

Chicago detectives later determined that the Empire actor allegedly set up the highly publicized attack to further his career.

Smollett was subsequently placed in durance vile
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
and charged with a felony in the case.

Smollett and his attorneys maintain the actor has anything to do with the assault other than being the victim of a hate crime.

Vacancy at Federal Prison Butner, NC: Madoff pal Carmine 'The Snake' Persico dead at 85
[MAIL] The longtime boss of the infamous Colombo crime family, Carmine 'The Snake' Persico, has died at the age of 85.

Attorney Benson Weintraub says Persico died on Thursday at the Duke University Medical Center. He had been serving what was effectively a life sentence at a federal prison in Butner, North Carolina.

Persico was convicted of racketeering and murder in a prosecution of mob bosses led by then-U.S. Attorney Rudolph Giuliani.

Prosecutors said Persico took over the murderous New York-based crime organization in the early 1970s when it was at the height of its powers. He was sentenced to more than a century in prison during the 1986 'Commission Trial' targeting the heads of New York's mafia families.

Persico served as his own lawyer during the trial.

Persico was sentenced to 139 years in prison, though he was said to continue running the Colombo crime family from behind bars, according to the New York Daily News.

Man Storms Taco Bell, Makes Own Mexican Pizza
A drive-thru customer enraged by the paucity of meat on his Mexican pizza stormed a Taco Bell in South Carolina and "walked into the kitchen area and began making his own food," police report.
Something I've never had the guts to do just yet.
According to cops, the suspect entered the Taco Bell in Spartanburg Wednesday afternoon complaining that "there was not enough meat on his Mexican pizza." A store employee told cops that she "re-made the suspect’s food."
Probably just as bad as it was the first time. Only with added drool. And a complete lack of creativity.
The man, however, was equally displeased with his second pizza and demanded a refund. When told that was not possible since a manager was not on the premises, the suspect became "enraged," declaring that he "would show the employees how to make his food the appropriate way," according to a police report.
Hopefully senior management was there to get his secret recipe.
The man then "walked behind the counter into the kitchen area and began making his own food." A Taco Bell worker noted that the suspect "did not follow proper health/safety guidelines" by not wearing "protective gloves while making his food."
Oh no!
The Taco Bell employee said the suspect "made himself another Mexican pizza and subsequently left the store and premises." The man, the worker said, "was angry and upset throughout his time in the facility" and used foul language in response to her repeated demands to leave the Taco Bell.
Not until I get about 20 packets of your wimpy-a$$ hot sauce!
Investigators described the Mexican pizza enthusiast as a black man with "braids/dreadlocks" in his late-20s or early-30s. The man, dressed in a a dark sweatshirt and gray pants, left the restaurant in a late-model Dodge Challenger driven by a woman who never entered the restaurant.
Oh honey, not again.
Police expect to retrieve video surveillance footage recorded by Taco Bell security cameras. If apprehended, the suspect faces possible misdemeanor larceny and trespass charges.
I'm kinda hoping he gets away with it.

This town in Vermont just elected a goat named Lincoln as its honorary mayor
[TheWeek] When residents of Fair Haven, Vermont, voted for mayor, they weren't kidding around. They chose a Nubian goat named Lincoln.

With 13 votes, Lincoln eked out a victory over Sammie the dog, who received 10 votes. As the town's first honorary pet mayor, Lincoln will attend events throughout the year and already has plans to march in a parade on Memorial Day. He will officially take office on Tuesday.

Fair Haven is home to 2,500 people and does not have a human mayor. Town Manager Joseph Gunter heard about a town in Michigan that voted for an honorary pet mayor, and he thought it would be fun to do the same thing in Fair Haven. For just $5, residents could enter their pets in the race, with every dollar going toward the building of a community playground. Not only was $100 raised, Gunter told The Associated Press, but it was also "a great way to introduce the elementary school kids to local government."

'And yes,' she continued, 'I came very, very close to leaving the Earth. Good news: I didn't.'

She went on: 'Thank you for all of your good wishes, all of the wonderful things that people have been saying. Even people who aren’t huge fans of mine have actually been saying nice thing about me.'

The comedienne then joked that 'all that is gonna change' when she returns to the daytime talk show, drawing laughter from the live studio audience at The View.

Ten year old Alabama storm survivor Meredith Pike asks POTUS to sign her bible.
[USNews] ‐ THE Latest on President Donald Trump's trip to Alabama to survey tornado damage (all times local):

President Donald Trump is signing Bibles at an Alabama church and taking photos with survivors of a deadly tornado outbreak that killed nearly two dozen people.

Trump is surveying the wreckage and visiting with victims Friday.

Volunteer Emily Pike says the president and first lady signed a small Bible owned by her 10-year-old daughter, Meredith Pike.

Pike says: "She just reached out there and said, 'Mr. President, would you sign this?'"

Trump used a felt pen to scratch out his signature on the cover of the girl's Bible, which is decorated with pink camouflage, and first lady Melania Trump then added her signature.

Pike says the Trumps also signed a Bible for one of Meredith's friends.
Local media reports it like he initiated it, thinking he's God

An unvaccinated boy's minor head wound led to nearly-fatal tetanus and $800,000 in medical bills, says CDC
[The Week] An unvaccinated boy nearly died from tetanus after he busted his head open while playing on a farm, and the CDC says his experience was preventable.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released a case study on the boy on Friday, writing that his was the first pediatric case of tetanus in Oregon in more than 30 years.

The boy's wound was stitched and cleaned at home, according to the report. But six days later, his muscles were spasming and he had difficulty breathing. He later received a tracheostomy to allow him to breathe, writes USA Today. The child spent 57 days in the hospital, totaling $811,929 for care and rehabilitation.

One month after his hospital stay, he was healthy enough to run and use a bicycle. After the whole ordeal, the CDC writes, the family still opted not to vaccinate the boy.

"Despite extensive review of the risks and benefits of tetanus vaccination by physicians, the family declined the second dose of DTaP and any other recommended immunizations," reads the case study. It also says the cost "to treat this child's preventable disease" was 72 times higher than the mean cost of a pediatric hospitalization.

Diseases typically prevented by vaccines are on the rise due to an increase in "anti-vax" adults who fear adverse effects from immunizations. The boy's family's stance on vaccines is unknown. Tatyana Bellamy-Walker

Chaos as machines fail, patients die, in Venezuela blackout
[PULSE.NG] Venezuela's nationwide blackout left large areas of the country in chaos on Friday, crippling day-to-day functioning of hospitals and other public services.

Witnesses described scenes of chaos at several hospitals as relatives tried to move patients in the dark to clinics with better emergency power facilities.

Marielsi Aray, a patient at the University Hospital suffering from an aggravated infection, died at dawn on Friday after her respirator stopped working, her uncle Jose Lugo said.

"The doctors tried to help her by pumping manually, they did everything they could, but with no electricity, what were they to do?" a distraught Lugo told AFP.

Wiping away tears, he described how his niece had been brought to the bottom of the 11-story Caracas hospital on a stretcher after the elevators stopped working.

"They got her to the ground floor where they had electricity, and connected her up but because of the transfer and the waiting and everything, she faded away," he said.

The power cut compounded an atmosphere of chaos that has gripped the South American nation, already battered by economic collapse, since opposition leader Juan Guaido declared himself interim president in January and asserted that President Nicolas Maduro
Venezuela's attempt at producing a Muammar Qadaffy...
was no longer legitimate.

Lugo said another patient had died in the parking lot in the chaos of the blackout, as people "tried to get sick people out of here and move them to other places where they had generators and equipment that would work."

"The screaming was brutal," he said.

EMERGENCY GENERATORS FAIL
Backup generators at the JM de Rios children's hospital in downtown Caracas failed to kick in when the blackout hit, said Gilbert Altuvez, whose eight-year-old boy is among the patients.

"The night was terrible. Without light. Total madness," he said.

When more generators were brought to supply emergency power, they weren't enough. "None managed to supply it completely," said Altuvez, 38.

Emilse Arellano said urgent dialysis for her youngest child had to be canceled Friday, after a night during which staff worked by the light of cellphones.

"The children were very scared," she told AFP.

The putrid odor of rotting flesh hung around the entrance to Caracas' main Bello Monte morgue on Friday where the refrigeration system had stopped working.

#2  I'm curious as to the cause of this nation-wide blackout. Gawd knows journalists are not going to look into it, bless their black little hearts.

I can see isolated failures due to lack of maintenance or fuel shortages, but the entire power grid?

China-Japan-Koreas
N. Korea media acknowledges 'no deal' at Hanoi for first time
[PULSE.NG] North Korea's state media Friday acknowledged for the first time the collapse of the summit between leader Kim Pudge Jong-un
...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished...
and US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
last week without a deal.

The high-stakes meeting in Vietnam was supposed to build on the leaders' historic first summit in Singapore last year, but ended without any agreement on walking back North Korea's nuclear programme in exchange for sanctions relief.

Pyongyang's official KCNA news agency, however, had made no mention of the breakdown of the high-stakes summit until Friday.

"The public at home and abroad... are feeling regretful, blaming the US for the summit that ended without an agreement," an editorial published by KCNA wrote.

In the aftermath of the summit's abrupt ending, each side sought to blame the other's intransigence for the deadlock.

But immediately after the summit North Korean media said only that Pyongyang and Washington have agreed to continue "productive" discussions on denuclearisation.

The following day Rodong Sinmun, the North's state-run newspaper, carried a front-page picture that showed Kim and Trump shaking hands.

China says working with U.S. day and night to get trade deal
BEIJING (Reuters) - China and the United States are still working day and night to achieve a trade deal that matches the interests of both sides and the hopes of the world, including eliminating tit-for-tat tariffs, a senior Chinese official said on Saturday.

Chinese Vice Commerce Minister Wang Shouwen said he was optimistic about negotiations with Washington, but added any trade mechanism achieved must be equal and fair.

The governments of the world’s two largest economies have been locked in a tariff battle for months as Washington presses Beijing to address long-standing concerns over Chinese practices and policies around industrial subsidies, technology transfers, market access and intellectual property rights.

#1  They do need to. Since they run such a huge surplus with us, any trade war will necessarily hurt them worse than it hurts us.

Any business where a customer says they are thinking of buying less from you would work day and night to make sure the purchases continue.

Europe
Finnish Government Collapses Due to Rising Cost of Universal Health Care
[Free Beacon] The government of Finland collapsed Friday due to the rising cost of universal health care and the prime minister's failure to enact reforms to the system.

Prime Minister Juha Sipila and the rest of the cabinet resigned after the governing coalition failed to pass reforms in parliament to the country's regional government and health services, the Wall Street Journal reports. Finland faces an aging population, with around 26 percent of its citizens expected to be over 65 by the year 2030, an increase of 5 percent from today.

Sipila's reforms "intended to remove power from the 295 municipalities that currently oversee health and social care, and place responsibility within a leaner, more efficient system of 18 elected regional authorities," according to the Journal. The prime minister also wanted patients to be able to choose from a range of public and private providers.
Or you could, just, ya know, try the free market system?
Sipila said "there's no other way for Finland to succeed" besides these reforms, which could have led to $3.4 billion in savings for the government.

Finland's aging population is increasing the financial strain on its health care system. From a BBC News report:

India-Pakistan
‘Sad day’ in PA as opposition members ‘manhandle’ colleague
[DAWN] Speaker Siraj Durrani on Thursday called it a "sad day" in Sindh Assembly’s history when a politician was "attacked" by fellow members after harsh personal remarks were made by the leader of the opposition, overtly targeting the chair.

It was a raucous day that initially mirrored the previous two sittings of the current session when the three large parties on the opposition benches went on to create hullaballoo mainly on the provincial government’s refusal to make the opposition leader as head of the Public Accounts Committee of Sindh.

However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
the proceedings turned graver on Thursday when Leader of the Opposition Firdous Shamim Naqvi, while protesting against, what he called, lesser representation given to the major opposition parties on the business advisory council, referred to some reports broadcast in a section of the electronic media asking how "that much amount of undeclared money and jewellery was found in your lockers".

Mr Naqvi’s words led everyone on the treasury benches to rise in their seats.

Everyone on the opposition benches, barring three members belonging to the Tehrik-e-Labbaik Pakistain and the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal, stood up chanting slogans against the government.

The opposition leader’s words appeared to hurt Speaker Durrani, who said what was being claimed as the undeclared jewellery from his lockers had belonged to his family for more than a century and was duly declared in his tax documents.

"I know how much you respect me, my office. The whole world knows how much a speaker is respected here," said the speaker.

Kohistani was rubbed out on Wednesday evening in the densely populated area of Sarban Chowk at around 8:10pm by unidentified button men who managed to flee afterwards.

Abbottabad
... A pleasant city located only 30 convenient miles from Islamabad. The city is noted for its nice weather and good schools. It is the site of Pakistain's military academy, which was within comfortable walking distance of the residence of the late Osama bin Laden....

Isro with Nasa's help can send astronauts to ISS using SpaceX Dragon 2
The Times of India web site wouldn't permit even one sentence cut and paste, so the text is from NASASpaceFlight.com and the Times can take a flying f...
[Times of India] Statement by former NASA administrator Charles Bolden, made today at some space conference in New Delhi:

Isro and Nasa can work out a joint mission to ISS for bio-medical research. If both agencies agree on the mission and work out the cost-sharing deal for the programme, Nasa will contract a space vehicle from Space X for the mission. The joint collaboration is possible.

Just another glimpse of the new opportunities that were initiated by the successful Crew Dragon demo. Half a year ago, they were talking about buying one Soyuz seat. Now it's about chartering a Crew Dragon.

Tennessee and Georgia State Houses Pass Fetal Heartbeat Abortion Bans
[Breibart] The state Houses in Georgia and Tennessee have passed measures that would ban most abortions once a fetal heartbeat can be detected ‐ usually six or seven weeks into pregnancy.

In Atlanta, Georgia, the legislation passed Thursday night, 93-73, but not without significant debate and tension.

Some Democrats made a point of walking out before the bill was even introduced, reported WSBTV:
In a remarkable show of defiance, House Democrats turned their backs on the Acworth lawmaker sponsoring the so-called heartbeat bill before it was introduced.

House Speaker David Ralston reprimanded them.

"I guess we have people in violation of the rules of the House. The gentleman will proceed, and this will be dealt with later," he said.
State Rep. Ed Setzler, who sponsored House Bill 481, said his legislation "seeks to recognize that the child in the womb that is living distinct from their mother has a right of life that is worthy of protection."

Prior to the vote to approve the heartbeat abortion ban, Republican Gov. Brian Kemp said in a statement:
Georgia is a state that values life. We shield the vulnerable and shelter the innocent. I applaud the Health and Human Services Committee for advancing legislation to protect the unborn. I encourage the House and Senate to do the same. This is a powerful moment in Georgia. It’s bigger than politics and partisanship. Let’s champion life today and ensure that all Georgians ‐ including the unborn ‐ have the chance to live, grow, and prosper.

Planned Parenthood Southeast condemned the state House’s approval of the legislation:
