-Great Cultural Revolution
‘It's Mind-Boggling': Mike Rowe Tells Tucker Americans ‘Starting To Get The Message' On College Education
[Daily Caller] "Dirty Jobs" host Mike Rowe told Daily Caller co-founder Tucker Carlson that Americans may be "starting to get the message" on seeking a college education in an interview released Wednesday.

Rowe explained to Carlson that research indicating young people are ranking a college education lower on the scale of importance is a "good thing," prompting the Tucker Carlson Network (TCN) creator to agree that a diploma does not mean its recipient is educated.

"Do you see any evidence that, I know people are listening to you, and I, again, would argue I haven’t seen anyone kind of refute what you’re saying," Tucker said. "But do you have any sense that it’s there’s changing, that it’s moving?"

Rowe said the cultural expectation of going to college after high school is "a consensus" most Americans "fall in line" with. He likened the idea of "supporting things that we personally don’t really support" to the behavior of people on Twitter, calling it a "collective illusion." (RELATED: ’I Don’t Know Why They Hate Us So Much’: Gold Star Father Arrested At SOTU Tells Tucker Biden ’Never’ Contacted Him)

"If you look for it, you’ll see it everywhere. It’s mind-boggling," Rowe told Carlson. "And this was kind of a wake-up call for me because for 15 years I’ve been talking about this deeply held belief."

"The parents and guidance counselors are, truly believe that the best path for their kids, is this most expensive path," Rowe continued. "But the latest research. When you really sit people down and take a deep, deep dive ... Gen Z right now is ranking the importance of a college education out of 50 different things at 47."

"That seems high," Carlson reacted.

#1  Professional 'educators' are a product of colleges and universities. They're part of the academic complex and thus are focused upon feeding the system rather than what is right for society and the individual.

"Every pusillanimous creature that crawls on the Earth or slinks through slimy seas has a brain. Back where I come from, we have universities, seats of great learning, where men go to become great thinkers. And when they come out, they think deep thoughts and with no more brains than you have. But they have one thing you haven't got: a diploma.” - Wizard of Oz

Greenhouse Gas Emissions Rule for Vehicles Struck Down by Texas Judge
[Epoch Times] A judge in Texas struck down a Biden administration rule on March 28 that required states to measure and report the greenhouse gas emissions from any vehicles using the national highway system. The rule was issued by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) in 2023 as part of President Biden’s efforts to slash carbon emissions in half by 2030.

Texas sued the DOT in December, arguing the agency lacked legal authority from Congress to enact the rule, and that it violates the Administrative Procedure Act. In his ruling, Judge James Hendrix of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas agreed, stating that the Biden administration lacked authority under law to impose the greenhouse gas emissions performance measure.

"When a regulation attempts to override statutory text, the regulation loses every time, regulations can’t punch holes in the rules Congress has laid down," the judge wrote. "If the people, through Congress, believe that the states should spend the time and money necessary to measure and report GHG [greenhouse gas] emissions and set declining emission targets, they may do so by amending Section 150 or passing a new law. But an agency cannot make this decision for the people," he concluded.

In finalizing the rule in December last year, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said the performance measure would provide states with a "clear and consistent framework to track carbon pollution and the flexibility to set their own climate targets."
I wonder how Mayor Pete intended to measure the contribution of Electric Vehicles? A factor based on the percentage of their electricity that comes from coal and gas, perhaps? Could be a computer simulation, for sure.

Investigators comb scene of deadly South Africa bus crash
[Africa News] Investigators are scouring the site of a tragic bus accident in South Africa, where a bus carrying pilgrims to an Easter gathering veered off a bridge, resulting in at least 45 fatalities. The only survivor, an 8-year-old child, was found amidst the wreckage.

The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon in a mountainous area near Mokopane, approximately 200 kilometers north of Pretoria. According to authorities, the bus lost control, crashed into the bridge's barriers, and plummeted 50 meters into a ravine. The driver, among the dear departed, was believed to have lost control of the vehicle.

Local resident Simone Mayema described the harrowing scene, where flames prevented bystanders from rendering aid to the victims. Many bodies, some charred beyond recognition, remained trapped inside the bus, while others were ejected upon impact.

Forensic teams commenced investigations early Friday, recovering some bodies but suspecting others remain within the charred remains of the bus. Details regarding the condition of the surviving child were not immediately available.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa extended condolences, noting that the victims were pilgrims from Botswana en route to Moria in Limpopo for Easter observances. Transport Minister Sindisiwe Chikunga pledged an inquiry into the crash and expressed sympathies to the families affected.

The crash underscores the dangers of Easter holiday travel in South Africa, with millions of people traversing roads during the festive season. Last year, over 200 fatalities were reported during Easter weekend, prompting authorities to issue cautionary advisories.

The tragedy occurred just before the anticipated Easter pilgrimage of the Zion Christian Church, marking the first such event since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. The pilgrimage holds significant cultural and religious importance, drawing worshippers from across the region to Moria.

South Africa's former President Jacob Zuma involved in car crash
[UNDEFINED] Former South African President Jacob Zuma has been involved in a car crash but escaped unharmed.

According to local news reports, Police said a drunk driver hit his official state car on Thursday evening.

A member of his party, uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK), claimed it was deliberate.

Zuma, suspended by the African National Congress (ANC), is campaigning for MK before May's election.

The crash occurred in his home province, KwaZulu-Natal, at 18:40 local time.

"No injuries were reported," said police.

A 51-year-old man was arrested for drunk and reckless driving.

Musa Mkhize, MK's election head, suggested the crash was planned.

Zuma, 81, served as president from 2009 to 2018 amidst corruption allegations.

He's entitled to an official protection team.

The crash coincided with him being barred from the upcoming election due to a previous jail sentence.

Stress Creates A 4-Fold Increase In Spread Of Cancer: Study
[ET Via ZERO] A breakthrough discovery links stress hormones with a fourfold surge in the spread of cancer, shedding light on why patients under severe stress often have lower survival rates.

"There’s probably very few situations that are as stressful as being diagnosed with cancer and undergoing cancer treatment," Mikala Egeblad, cancer researcher and senior author of the study, told The Epoch Times.

Understanding the stress—cancer link may open up new ways to protect patients from the adverse effects of stress as part of cancer care.

An Accidental Discovery Prompts More Research
The team of scientists from Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) found that glucocorticoids—a type of stress hormone—play a role in creating a metastasis-friendly environment.

The Egeblad lab, which relocated to Johns Hopkins University, studies how the communication between tumors and the immune system affects tumor growth and metastasis in mice. Researchers discovered the connection accidentally, noticing faster tumor growth in mice they had unintentionally stressed by a change in housing.

The phenomenon prompted further research on chronic stress exposure and how it can encourage the spread of cancer, according to first author Xue-Yan He, who was a postdoctoral fellow at CSHL and is now an assistant professor at the Washington University School of Medicine.

Ms. He investigated this connection with a mice study that mimicked chronic stress, leading to startling observations: an increase in tumor lesions and up to a fourfold surge in the spread of cancer.
