[IsraelTimes] Police investigating assault in Brooklyn as a hate crime, make one arrest; ADL offers $10,000 reward for information; governor ’outraged,’ as antisemitic attacks surge
A group of assailants beat a Jewish man on a New York City street on Friday night, the latest in a string of attacks on Jews in the area.
Six males repeatedly punched and kicked the Hasidic Jewish man in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood, causing him minor injuries, according to police and neighborhood groups.
Police are investigating the case as a hate crime and have made one arrest.
There were no "prior words of provocation" between the 21-year-old victim and assailants ahead of the beating, police said.
The New York Police Department released a blurry video of the attack, which appeared to show the group striking the victim and shoving him against the side of the truck, where he collapsed, and the beating continued.
The police also released a video showing the group that allegedly carried out the attack, offered a $3,500 reward for information, and said detectives had arrested a 16-year-old and charged him with gang assault and assault as a hate crime.
I guess the Guardian Angels have found other neighbourhoods more interesting to patrol, or Curtis Sliwa lost track while running for mayor.
The United Jewish Organizations of Williamsburg, a leading community group in the neighborhood, called the incident a "disturbing hate fueled attack."
It said that after the assault, the group of assailants carjacked an Uber driver.
The attack took place on the neighborhood’s Gerry Street, near Harrison Avenue, at 7:55 p.m. on Friday night. Attacks on Jews in the neighborhood often take place on Friday nights, when religious Jews do not carry cell phones, making it more difficult to report crimes. Williamsburg is the home base of the large, tightly-knit Satmar Hasidic community.
The Anti-Defamation League offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
Police figures showed 81 antisemitic hate crimes in New York City so far this year, marking an increase of over 300% over the same period last year.
The antisemitic incidents include assaults on city streets against visibly identifiable Jews, racist graffiti, property damage, and verbal abuse.
Jews are targeted in hate crimes more than any other group in New York City, by far, year after year. Anti-Jewish attacks accounted for 38 percent of all confirmed hate crimes in New York City last year, according to NYPD statistics.
In February, there were 56 hate crimes against Jews, compared with 11 during the same month last year. Hate crimes in New York City as a whole climbed by 100% last year, and other types of crime have also been on the rise.
Hate crimes usually do not lead to arrests in New York. The 198 confirmed hate crimes against Jews in New York last year only resulted in 58 arrests.
Last week, hundreds of pro-Paleostinian demonstrators chanted "Globalize the intifada" during a march through Manhattan that stopped at the offices of several Jewish organizations, in what many Jewish and Israel advocates interpreted as alluding to violence against Jews.
The protesters, who called for Israel’s complete dismantlement, say they are targeting the Jewish state, not Jewish people. The event came as Israel grapples with a wave of deadly terrorism that has killed 11 people.
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Police have reportedly arrested Kelvin Winfield, who has six prior arrests, including a 2019 assault at Penn Station.
[Western Journal] They’re going to be playing for the national championship, but they’re already losers in the court of public opinion.
The South Carolina Gamecocks drew national attention Friday when they stayed off the court for the playing of the national anthem before their game in the Final Four of the NCAA’s women’s basketball tournament in Minneapolis.
While the team under coach Dawn Staley has been off the court for the anthem all year, like many of their competitors, the practice made news this weekend — because of how their opponent behaved.
The Louisville Cardinals honored the anthem on the basketball court, and fans noticed the difference.

How many of the team are attending college based on Athletic Scholarships?
Where did that $$$$$ come from?
So I say, may their donors and supporters lists be released. Each donor/supporter should ask a direct question. "Will hey will continue to support/donate to this team IF this matter is NOT seriously addressed?"

Don't understand what's shocking. I can see the argument that maybe we sanitize death too much, but hiding massive injuries seems like a kindness, not something goulish.
(But, then, there are two morticians in my extended family, and one of them spent some time with the federal Disaster Mortuary Response Team, so maybe I'm sanguine about it all.)

[Garowe] An International Committee of the Red Thingy (ICRC) convoy carrying medical assistance, food, and water treatment supplies arrived in the Tigray region on Saturday, 2nd April 2022, through Afar. This is the first ICRC convoy reaching the region by road since September 2021.
"Many people affected by the conflict in Tigray live in extremely challenging conditions, unable to access healthcare, sufficient food supplies, and basic goods and services," said Nicolas Von Arx, the head of the ICRC delegation in Æthiopia. "In addition, a lack of medication and medical equipment has placed enormous strain on the region's health-care system and medical staff."
"The ICRC welcomes the current ceasefire and the willingness of the parties to the conflict to facilitate passage of much-needed humanitarian aid into Tigray," he added. "It is vital that the assistance keeps reaching the region on a regular basis."
The ICRC convoy carried medicines, medical equipment, emergency food, water pumps, and water treatment chemicals, along with essential household items such as jerricans, solar lamps, mattresses, and kitchen sets.
Prior to the convoy's arrival, the ICRC conducted almost 40 cargo flights into Tigray since January, delivering life-saving drugs such as insulin, hemodialysis, oxytocin, tetanus toxoid, gloves, and surgical material.
Meanwhile, ...back at the pie fight, Bella opened her mouth at precisely the wrong moment... in the Afar region, 9,000 internally displaced people (IDPs) recently received food delivered by the ICRC, including wheat flour, split peas, salt, and oil. A further 9,000 IDPs in Afar are currently being assisted with emergency household items.
“Ukraine’s Armed Forces and territorial defense battalions have pushed them away through Chernihiv Oblast,” Zhyvytsky said, warning that small groups of Russians might still be around.

I'm only for the "Let's bleed Russia Dry so they don't go farther than Ukraine" side.
Because Russia really, really wants to establish their previous borders to secure their heartland. And that means going toe to toe with NATO. And that means nukes when their conventional forces get their teeth kicked in.

The trolls are gonna hate this.
If Putin was frustrated about the fighting in Donbas, he's going to hate the results of the invasion. Ukraine will be like a giant Gaza Strip.

Dead civilians piling up everywhere. Russian murderers leaving their angry calling cards. I doubt they'll be returning. Russian units participating in such activity have surely been identified. Going back into that region...very bad juju.

Read "Journalists for Hire: How the CIA Buys the News"
by Udo Ulfkotte, former editor at FAZ (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung). It's in German, sorry.
Also Glenn Greenwald's explanation of how the security agencies spread fake news: "One large news outlet publishes a false story based on whispers from anonymous security state agents with the CIA or FBI, and then other news outlets quickly purport that they have “independently confirmed” the false story, in order to bolster its credibility (oh, it must be true since other outlets have also confirmed it).
"This is an obvious scam — they have not “independently confirmed” anything but rather merely acted as servants to the same lying security state agents who planted the original false story — but they do it over and over, creating the deceitful perception that a fake story has been "confirmed” by multiple outlets, thus bolstering its credibility in the public mind. It was the favored tactic for spreading debunked Russiagate frauds and is still used."
According to Amazon, the English translation is currently unavailable, who h just means some work finding it. Usually the author has some extra copies lying about in such cases.

"In the direction of the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkov regions - a large grouping of Russian troops is gathering there. They are not going to stop. The tasks that Putin sets for his Janissaries to destroy the Ukrainian state, they do not disappear anywhere. They will regroup. 19:56 Zelensky says that the negotiators are close to agreeing on agreements that may include a non-nuclear, non-bloc and neutral status of Ukraine.
"An important part of these agreements is security guarantees. Security guarantees should imply the existence of a circle of states that will support our country. And in the event of aggression by Russia against Ukraine, the leaders of these countries will help Ukraine in various ways after certain conditions in the security sphere are met, regarding which there must be an agreement between these guarantor countries," he said in an interview with CBS.
19:43 German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht said that the EU should discuss the issue of a ban on Russian gas imports.
19:38 The head of the Donetsk OVA, Pavel Kirilenko, called on all civilians to leave the region for safer regions. In an interview with the publication, the League said that there is a high probability of the situation worsening.
"And in this case, one of the important levers of manipulation and achievement of results for the enemy will be the population. Therefore, people need to leave in order to knock this lever out of the hands of the occupier. And it will be much easier for the defenders of Donbass to beat the enemy," he said.
19:31 The mobile crematoriums that the Russian troops were carrying with them were intended for Ukrainians, says Podolyak.
19:29 Kim reported that 14 people were injured as a result of today's shelling of Nikolaev. 11 of them were hospitalized, among them a child with moderate injuries, one died. He added that as a result of the shelling of Ochakov, there were also dead and wounded.
19:21 The Welt publication, citing sources, reports that Germany refused to supply Ukraine with 100 Marder infantry fighting vehicles, which were requested last week.
19:10 From the territory of the Kiev region liberated from Russian invaders, 410 bodies of dead civilians have already been taken out.
"In the liberated territories, there is super-important evidence of the brutal war crimes of the Russian Federation. This is a hell that must be documented in order to punish the non-humans who organized it on our land," said the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
19:04 With respect to Russia, the United States will very soon take additional actions, said State Department spokesman Ned Price.
“As for the photos from Bucha, we have already assessed that Russian troops have committed war crimes. We are collecting information. Firstly, to shed light on what exactly they are doing, and secondly, to ensure that all those who committed these atrocities, and all those who ordered these atrocities. This is our mission," he said.
18:58 French President Emmanuel Macron reacted to the brutal killings of civilians by the Russian military in Bucha. According to him, the Russian authorities will have to answer for this.
"The photos that come to us from Bucha, a liberated town near Kiev, are unbearable. There are hundreds of civilians killed on the streets. My compassion for the victims, my solidarity with the Ukrainians. The Russian authorities will have to answer for these crimes."
18:54 Rape, executions, looting: Human Rights Watch documents war crimes of Russian occupiers in Ukraine.
In particular, at the moment, atrocities have been recorded in the territories of the Chernihiv, Kharkiv and Kiev regions, as well as in the city of Bucha.
“The cases we have documented represent unspeakable, deliberate brutality and violence against the civilian population of Ukraine. Rape, murder and other violent acts against people in the custody of Russian troops should be investigated as war crimes,” said Hugh Williamson. Director of Human Rights Watch in Europe and Central Asia
18:51 The United States does not yet agree to provide Ukraine with security guarantees in the form our country asks for, Zelensky said in an interview with CBS. In addition, the president said that Ukraine has not yet received security guarantees from other countries.
“I would like to thank the United States and the Biden administration for their bipartisan support, for everything they do for us. But nevertheless, the United States did not provide us with security guarantees. This must be understood,” Zelensky said.
18:48 Georgia is categorical in its decision not to join economic sanctions against Russia, head of the Georgian government Irakli Garibashvili said.
"We want peace, stability and development. This is what our country needs today. No one needs war. And to prevent war, any leader of the country - a patriot should do everything possible," Garibashvili explained.
He also does not welcome the participation of volunteers in the hostilities in Ukraine.
18:46 Zelensky reproached NATO for the delay in inviting Ukraine to the Alliance:
"Bucharest, NATO summit declaration. April 3, 14 years ago. There was a chance to prevent. So that Russia would not come. Bucha, Kyiv region. Now. Russia has come. I advise the mothers of the Russian military to look. Look what bastards you raised. Killers, marauders, executioners".
18:44 The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation declares that none of the civilians were injured under their occupation.
18:42 The footage from the suburbs of Kiev is terrifying, but the situation in Mariupol blocked by the invaders is much worse, the Azov regiment says.
The chief of staff of the Azov regiment, captain Bohdan Krotevich, said that the situation in the city is critical and up to 200,000 Ukrainians are under the rubble or in bomb shelters, under constant enemy shelling.
"They have no food, water, electricity. We have no way to help them, because we are fighting fiercely in the city. What is happening now in Mariupol is the genocide of the Ukrainian population," he said.
18:39 Slovak Economy Minister Richard Sulik announced the country's readiness to pay for gas supplies in rubles, as required by the Russian Federation.
"In order not to refuse gas, we will pay in Russian currency, unless we agree on something else," Richard Sulik said.
18:22 "Some of the murdered children had their hands tied. Children. Children were tied up. Shot dogs. Murdered women. Girls under 10 with torn vaginas."
The editor-in-chief of the publication Babel Evgeny Spirin told on his Facebook page what he learned about after visiting the settlements of the Kiev region after the Russian occupation.
18:18 NATO will find ways to accept Sweden and Finland relatively quickly if they express a desire to join the North Atlantic Alliance, Stoltenberg said.
18:15 How social networks react to the crimes of the occupiers in the Kiev region:
17:11 NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in an interview with CNN said that the withdrawal of Russian troops from Kiev is not a real conclusion, but rather a change in position, which may be followed by further attacks.
According to him, the alliance is not yet convinced that Russia is conducting peace talks in Istanbul in good faith, because Moscow's military goal has not changed since the start of its invasion of Ukraine.
17:09 The pilot of the plane shot down near Izyum was detained, Gerashchenko said.
17:06 The occupiers again fired at the city of Vasilkov, which is located south of Kiev. Part of the missiles was shot down by air defense. There was a hit in the headquarters building, which had already been destroyed.
16:59 Pentagon: Military assistance from the United States to Ukraine is constantly received, in the last 24 hours, part of the $800 million package has been received.
16:53 Peskov: "The goal of the military operation in Ukraine will be achieved in full."
16:51 BBC News report from Bucha and Gostomel, where almost every house has the bodies of civilians killed by the invaders:
16:38 The network published footage of dogs and puppies killed by Russian invaders in one of the liberated settlements of the Kiev region.

16:23 German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock said that those responsible for war crimes in Ukraine must be punished.
"Photos from Bucha are unbearable. Putin's rampant violence is destroying innocent families and knows no boundaries," Burbock tweeted.
16:16 The next three weeks will be decisive - the former commander of the US European Army, General Ben Hodges. What happens at that time will influence Putin's decision to end the war against Ukraine, Hodges said.
“It depends on what happens over the next three weeks. If we don’t help Ukraine beat the Russians now, it will drag on for months and Russia will continue to make Ukraine bleed. However, if we beat the Russians now, then we can go to negotiations on this issue are much faster," the general explained.
16:08 Kuleba: "The Buchan massacre was deliberate. The Russians are trying to destroy as many Ukrainians as possible. We must stop them and expel them. I demand new destructive sanctions from the G7 now: an embargo on oil, gas, coal; close all ports for Russian ships and goods; disconnect all Russian banks from SWIFT".
15:24 In Ukraine, as a result of hostilities, 23,000 kilometers of roads and 273 artificial structures were destroyed, Andriy Ivko, First Deputy Chairman of Ukravtodor, said.
14:58 European countries will continue to pay for Russian gas in euros, according to the concluded contracts, the Kremlin said. Earlier, Moscow delivered an ultimatum to the EU demanding payment in rubles.
14:11 Russia is preparing for a protracted war in Ukraine, spreading propaganda about the "first stage of the special operation," the Center for Counteracting Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council said.
"Russian propaganda is actively spreading the theses: "the first stage of the special operation has shown results", "denazification is proceeding according to plan", "Donbass can count on security". It is already obvious that the so-called withdrawal of troops in the Kiev and Chernihiv regions is nothing more than redeployment" , the message says.
14:06 The Russian military is not being withdrawn from the Kiev and Chernihiv directions, but will be redeployed for the next "phase" in the Donbass. This opinion was expressed by US General Ben Hodges, explaining why Putin agreed to withdraw his troops from these directions.
"Russian military units have been defeated, they have lost leaders, their equipment has been smashed, they have lost a lot of equipment, thanks to the Ukrainian defenders. So now they are trying to retreat, reorganize, regroup for the next 'phase'. This is exactly what I think is happening right now. So this is not a withdrawal," Hodges said.
13:52 German Finance Minister Christian Lindner spoke out against the imposition of an embargo on Russian energy carriers as part of the EU sanctions policy for the invasion of Ukraine.
Asked by journalists why Germany continues to finance warmonger Putin's campaign in Ukraine by importing gas and oil, the minister replied: "All options are on the table. Sanctions are already unprecedented. But they should hit the Putin regime and not jeopardize Germany's stability."
The minister said that "the war in Ukraine makes us all poorer, for example, because we have to pay more for imported energy."
“Even the state cannot compensate for this loss of wealth. But we can mitigate the biggest shocks, and we are doing it. That is why we support those in need and ensure the existence of companies that are at risk. But since funding is limited, these measures can only be temporary,” - he said.
Recall that on the first day of the war, when the Ukrainian ambassador to Germany turned to the German government for help, Lindner replied that there was no point in this, "because Ukraine will fall in two days."
13:48 On Nikolaev several missile attacks are put, the Nikolaev mayor Alexander Senkevich reported.
13:46 A video of the moment of the execution of civilians in Bucha by Russian invaders has appeared on the network. According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred on March 25. Local residents were shot after interrogation. Apparently, photos of their bodies were published in all media the day before.
13:45 Vladislav Atroshenko, the mayor of Chernihiv, spoke on the air of UA at once about the situation in the city:
"Chernihiv is 70 percent destroyed, people have already ceased to be interested in how many mines have arrived ... Our city resembles Bucha, and in some areas it is already the same as Mariupol. People are interested in how they can survive until tomorrow. We have a concentration of Russian troops on border with Belarus, we are interested in how the air defense will work, whether bombs will continue to fall on the head."
13:41 President of the European Council Charles Michel promises support from the European Union in the prosecution of war crimes committed by the Russian army in the Kiev region
“I am shocked by the photographs that stick in my memory and testify to the atrocities committed by the Russian army in the liberated areas of the Kiev region,” Michel admitted, adding the “Bucha Massacre” note (#BuchaMassacre) to his tweet.
The head of the European Council believes that this is evidence of war crimes that should be used in court. "There will be new sanctions and new support," he added.
The politician completed the message, written in English, with two words in Ukrainian: "Glory to Ukraine!".
13:32 As a result of rocket strikes and bombings, 80 percent of residential buildings in Izyum have been destroyed.

13:12 Ukrainian artist Max Barskikh, who from the first day of a full-scale invasion waged an information war on the network, decided to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
He has to go through two weeks of training. Now, instead of a microphone, he will hold a machine gun in his hands.
13:08 Dmitry Antonov, the commander of the An-225 Mriya, the largest cargo plane in the world, destroyed by the invaders, was one of the first to get to the Gostomel airfield after its release.
"The Russian world has been here. There is no need to explain anything else. It's just awful," Dmitry Antonov said against the backdrop of the An-225 Mriya aircraft destroyed by the Russians.
He examined the aircraft and assessed what parts from it could be used to build a new Mriya. According to him, some engines, wing elements, landing gear survived, but the expert commission will evaluate the suitability of these units.
Numerous holes from shells are visible on the fuselage of the aircraft. Part of the aircraft burned down as a result of a fire, the wings and nose are on the ground after numerous shellings.
12:55 The President of Ukraine posthumously awarded photojournalist Maxim Levin with the Order For Courage.
12:39 Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, about 280,000 Ukrainian refugees have been registered in Germany. Under the new EU rules, they are allowed to operate legally. But is it so easy for Ukrainians fleeing the war to find work ?

The footage shows the faces, phones and some documents of the Russian occupiers.

12:17 British Prime Minister Boris Johnson urged not to wait for Russia's active actions on the coast of Odessa and immediately provide Ukraine with anti-ship missiles, the Times newspaper writes.
Johnson said that British anti-tank missiles had already been used in the defense of Kyiv, which had a tangible result, and now it was necessary to protect Odessa and thwart Putin's plans in southern Ukraine.
12:15 Mediterranean hubs did not wait for the decision of the EU and arranged "self-sanctions" for ships with Russian fuel.
"Mediterranean fuel sellers have stopped serving Russian-flagged ships at major European hubs, including Spain and Malta, in another blow to Moscow's exports," five industry sources familiar with the matter told Reuters.
The loss of access to refueling points in the Mediterranean creates serious logistical problems for Russian oil tankers sailing from Baltic ports to Asia.
12:11 Gennady Trukhanov, the mayor of Odessa, on the consequences of rocket attacks on the city on air UA at a time:
The blow was delivered to critical infrastructure facilities, residential buildings - private and multi-apartment buildings - were damaged, there was smoke and fires in the city, but no one was injured
There is no critical fuel situation in the city
The threat from Transnistria exists, and the military leadership is preparing to repel it
12:09 British Ambassador to Ukraine Melinda Simmons: "Rape is a weapon of war. And although we do not yet know the full extent of the use of this weapon in Ukraine, it is already clear that it was part of the Russian arsenal. Women are raped in front of their children, girls - in front of their families, as an act of deliberate enslavement. Rape is a war crime."
12:06 At a pro-Ukrainian rally in occupied Kakhovka, the Russian army opened fire:
11:59 Food for Ukrainian servicemen in combat conditions is of great importance. Great physical and mental overloads constantly require to replenish the body with energy.
BBC News correspondents filmed a report on Ukrainian dry rations. The video was filmed two days before the full-scale invasion, but has now been released.
Now other samples of army dry rations are coming from Western countries for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
11:38 The international human rights organization Human Rights Watch said it had collected evidence of Russia's war crimes in Bucha.
11:30 The General Staff published fresh data on the losses of Russian invaders in Ukraine:
10:53 "Kyiv region. Hell of the 21st century. Bodies of executed men and women with their hands tied. The worst crimes of Nazism are again in Europe. Russia did this on purpose. Impose an embargo on energy resources, close ports. Stop the killings now!" Podolyak wrote.
10:34 Poland is open to the deployment of US nuclear weapons on its territory, said Deputy Prime Minister Yaroslav Kaczynski.
"If the Americans asked us to store US nuclear weapons in Poland, we would be open to it. This would greatly strengthen the containment of Moscow," he said.
According to him, at present such a question is not raised, "however, this may soon change." He also stressed that the initiative should come from the Americans.

The President of Russia is under pressure from society and his entourage due to the lack of high-profile victories. Therefore, the day of May 9 should be for him the day of victory in a new war. “Every day, hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians wake up in fear of bombing Russian planes. Meanwhile, Europe is playing roulette: first it announces tougher sanctions, a day later it says: let’s not go too far. Putin set fire to Ukraine, and Europe wonders if it has enough fire extinguishers ", Morawiecki wrote.
Prior to that, he said that the sanctions imposed on Russia do not work, as the Russian ruble is strengthening.
"At the moment, Putin and his entourage have been able to change fiscal policy, credit policy, financial policy in such a way that they are immune to sanctions to a certain extent. At least for several months," the Polish prime minister said.
He expressed the opinion that for the next few weeks and the next few months, Russia is ready for this war. "I'm not sure that the West or the United States, the European Union and NATO are so prepared," Morawiecki said.

In Mariupol, 23 civilians were injured due to shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine
[REGNUM] During the shelling of the liberated part of Mariupol by the armed forces of Ukraine (AFU), 23 civilians were injured. This was announced on April 3 by the representative office of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of the Ceasefire Regime (JCCC).
"The operational line of the DPR JCCC received information about the wounding of 23 civilians as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian armed forces of the previously liberated part of the Mariupol settlement," the report said.
Armed Forces of Ukraine fired at the settlement of Donetsk from the MLRS "Grad"
[REGNUM] The settlement of Donetsk in the Lugansk People's Republic (LPR) was fired upon by representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was announced on April 3 by the representative office of the LPR in the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of the Ceasefire (JCCC).
“The shelling was recorded from the side of the armed formations of Ukraine: ... from the direction of the settlement. Novotoshkovskoe along the settlement Donetsk with the use of multiple rocket launchers (MLRS) BM-21 "Grad" (20 shells)," the report said.
No casualties or injuries have been reported.
As REGNUM reported, on April 3, the People's Militia of the DPR reported that eight more Ukrainian servicemen had defected to the side of the republic.
"Five servicemen of the 56th motorized infantry brigade (AFU) and three servicemen of the 25th airborne brigade voluntarily laid down their arms and went over to the side of the DPR," the message said.
In the DPR, six servicemen were killed during the day during the fighting
[REGNUM] In the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), six servicemen were killed during the day during the fighting with representatives of the armed forces of Ukraine (APU). This was stated on April 3 in the message of the People's Militia of the DPR in the Telegram channel.
"Over the past day, in the struggle for independence, six defenders of the DPR died in the line of military duty and 20 were injured," the report said.
Ukraine fired more than 100 shells and mines at Donetsk
[REGNUM] Representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have fired more than 100 shells and mines in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) since the beginning of the current day. This was stated on April 3 in the message of the People's Militia of the DPR in the Telegram channel
"Since the beginning of the current day, the enemy (APU) has fired more than 100 shells and mines from 152 and 122-mm cannon artillery," the message said. "The areas of six settlements of the Republic came under shelling."
It is noted that as a result of shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, two civilians were injured.
Nearly 40 Ukrainian nationalists killed in Donetsk
[REGNUM] Servicemen of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) have killed 37 Ukrainian nationalists since the beginning of the current day. This was reported on April 3 by the People's Militia of the DPR.
"Our servicemen (DPR) destroyed 37 Ukrainian nationalists, one tank, two infantry fighting vehicles and a field depot of rocket and artillery weapons," the report said. One 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled artillery mount was captured.
Ukrainian Armed Forces shell the village of Yelenovka in Donetsk
[REGNUM] The settlement of Yelenovka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) was fired upon by representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was announced on April 3 by the DPR representative office in the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of the Ceasefire Regime (JCCC).
"Fire was recorded from the side of the armed formations of Ukraine in the direction ... the settlement of Yelenovka," the report said. "Five shells of 122mm caliber were fired."
Russia demanded to convene a meeting of the UN Security Council because of the provocation in Bucha
[REGNUM] Russia demands to convene a meeting of the UN Security Council on April 4 in connection with Ukrainian fakes about the events in Bucha, Kiev region. Dmitry Polyansky , First Deputy Permanent Representative of the country to the UN, announced this on his Telegram channel.
"We will bring presumptuous Ukrainian provocateurs and their Western patrons to clean water," the diplomat said.
As REGNUM reported , video materials with supposedly corpses on the streets of Bucha have been published in Ukrainian public and media outlets. Internet users discovered that these "corpses" were alive, and the Russian Defense Ministry called the incident another provocation.
Meanwhile, Western countries decided to use Ukrainian materials to tighten anti-Russian sanctions.
"All the photographs and video materials published by the Kiev regime, allegedly testifying to some kind of “crimes” by Russian military personnel in the city of Bucha, Kiev region, are another provocation," the report said.
As REGNUM reported, the Russian army left this settlement on March 30, after another round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. For all the time the city was under the control of Russian military personnel, local residents did not experience harassment. They could move freely and use mobile communications, as well as travel in a northerly direction. At the same time, the southern outskirts, including residential areas, were shelled around the clock by Ukrainian military personnel.
Also, the Ministry of Defense drew attention to the fact that the so-called "evidence of crimes" in Bucha became known to the public on the fourth day of the withdrawal of the Russian army from there.
Employees of the SBU, as well as Ukrainian television, arrived in the city. At the same time, the bodies of people published by the Kiev regime did not stiffen for at least four days and do not have cadaveric spots, and unclotting blood is not visible in the wounds.
All this also irrefutably confirms that the video footage and photographs from Bucha are another production of the Kiev regime for the Western media. Previously, this has already happened in Mariupol and other cities.
"All the photographs and video materials published by the Kiev regime, allegedly testifying to some kind of “crimes” by Russian military personnel in the city of Bucha, Kiev region, are another provocation," the message said.
The Ministry of Defense also emphasized that during the entire time this settlement was under the control of the Russian army, not a single local resident suffered from violent actions. Moreover, Russian servicemen delivered 452 tons of humanitarian aid to the Kiev region and gave it to the population.
Representatives of the Ministry of Defense added that the inhabitants of the city freely moved around it and used cellular communications. The exits were not blocked. All local residents were free to travel northward, including to Belarus. At the same time, the southern outskirts of the city, including residential areas, were shelled around the clock by Ukrainian troops from multiple launch rocket systems, tanks and large-caliber artillery.
The Ministry of Defense stressed that on March 30, all Russian units left Bucha. This happened after a face-to-face round of talks between Russia and Ukraine in Turkey. And on March 31, the mayor of the city Anatoly Fedoruk confirmed this fact in his video message. Also, he did not even mention any local residents shot in the streets with their hands tied.
“Therefore, it is not surprising that all the so-called “evidence of crimes” in Bucha appeared only on the fourth day, when SBU officers and representatives of Ukrainian television arrived in the city,” the Ministry of Defense noted.
Also, representatives of the department emphasize that all the bodies of people whose images were published by the Kiev regime did not stiffen after at least four days, do not have characteristic cadaveric spots, and unclotting blood is visible in the wounds.
"All this irrefutably confirms that the photographs and video footage from Bucha are another production of the Kiev regime for the Western media, as was the case in Mariupol with a maternity hospital, as well as in other cities," the department concluded.
So he commented on the video that appeared in the Ukrainian media and social networks, allegedly filmed in the city of Bucha, where the bodies of the dead lie on the road. Users noticed that the "corpses" move their arms and remove their limbs so as not to fall under the wheels of military equipment, and in the rear-view mirror you can see that one of these "dead" gets up as soon as the car passes by him.
"The conveyor works, but periodically fails, which the West, however, does not notice <...> They are impressed by the "crimes" themselves and the reason to shout loudly that the Russians are murderers. Reveals then no longer interest anyone, you can always dismiss and not be interested in the consequences," - wrote Miroshnik.
He recalled that the American investigators themselves reported that at least 150 PR structures and key Western media companies were working on promoting fake news about the situation in Ukraine.
“And here is an example of their work,” Miroshnik concluded.
[IsraelTimes] 144,000 people left Ukraine and 88,000 arrived over past week, with 537,000 returning in total, ministry says; UN figures show 4,176,401 Ukrainians have left since Feb 24.

Bullion star dot com has a detailed breakdown on how much gold various countries believe they have stored in London vaults. It’s going to be interesting to see what they may be allowed to repatriate. It’s taken Germany 5 years to relocate a fraction of their holdings. I’m not a gold bug so I found the information very illuminating. Learned about the tungsten adulteration of gold bars in Macau in 2019 along the way. Holdings of physical gold have been pretty opaque but with recent changes they may become of greater interest to the citizens of the countries owning them

Yes. "Possession is 9/10 of the law" becomes more like 99.9999% when an underground vault is involved.

Russia has some of the biggest reserves of physical gold on the planet, more than enough to back the ruble with a gold standard. This also links the oil price for Russian exports to the gold standard.
In effect, the Bank of Russia's move has put floor under the ruble and also boosted the value of these two physical commodities, physical gold and oil.
Bad news for the dollar. Hyperinflation will hurt the dollar and boost the ruble, also sendcthe price of physical gold upward.

Credit Suisse's Zoltan Pozsar, a currency and interest rate expert who used to be a top official in the US Treasury, argues that Bretton Woods II collapsed when the G7 countries seized Russia's foreign exchange reserves.
Pozsar argues that the next global currency regime will not be driven by the US dollar but by commodities instead. The West's sanctions have created a large gap between Russian and non-Russian commodities' prices, and the only way for markets to close this gap is by ditching the dollar and moving back toward the gold standard. Which is exactly Russia's strategy. Last week the Russian central bank pegged the ruble to gold and forced Russian banks to sell their gold holdings to the central bank at a slightly discounted price.
Russia is in effect arbitraging the sanctions and positioning itself to come out ahead in a post-Bretton Woods, new world monetary order in which commodities are king. This is probably the biggest reason that so many nations around the world are siding with Russia rather than the West.
[Al-Rooters] Hungary's nationalist Prime Minister Viktor Orban scored a fourth consecutive landslide win in Sunday's election, as voters endorsed his ambition of a conservative, "illiberal" state and shrugged off concerns over Budapest's close ties with Moscow.
Russia's Feb. 24 invasion of Ukraine had appeared to upend Orban's campaign in recent weeks, forcing him into awkward manouvering to explain decade-old cosy business relations with President Vladimir Putin.
But he mounted a successful campaign to persuade his Fidesz party's core electorate that the six-party opposition alliance of Peter Marki-Zay promising to mend ties with the European Union could lead the country into war, an accusation the opposition denied.
Surrounded by leading party members, a triumphant Orban, 58, said Sunday's victory came against all odds.
"We have scored a victory so big, that it can be seen even from the Moon," he said. "We have defended Hungary's sovereignty and freedom."
Preliminary results with about 98% of national party list votes counted showed Orban's Fidesz party leading with 53.1% of votes versus 35% for Marki-Zay's opposition alliance. Fidesz was also winning 88 of 106 single-member constituencies.
Based on preliminary results, the National Election Office said Fidesz would have 135 seats, a two-thirds majority, and the opposition alliance would have 56 seats. A far-right party called Our Homeland would also make it into parliament, winning 7 seats.
His comfortable victory could embolden Orban, 58, in his policy agenda which critics say amounts to a subversion of democratic norms, media freedom and the rights of minorities, particularly gay and lesbian people.
Conceding defeat, Marki-Zay, 49, said Fidesz's win was due to what he called its vast propaganda machine, including media dominance.
"I don't want to hide my disappointment, my sadness ... We knew this would be an uneven playing field," he said. "We admit that Fidesz got a huge majority of the votes. But we still dispute whether this election was democratic and free."

He was trained as the spare, but no longer needed once the heir’s son grew up, and hasn’t been able to find another meaningful role. Britain's Prince Harry has the same problem.

^ Ugh. He was talented (just didn't do music I cared about.) Married, kid who died in a couple days. Did chemicals in his body have anything to do with that? We'll never know.
RIP in any event.
