[ALMASDARNEWS] Footage has been released over social media showing the gruesome aftermath of an engagement between the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (national militia; abbreviated as PMU) and a group of Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. According to sources, an assault group of the PMU’s 16th Brigade (Turkmen) were conducting an operation near the village Hamirah when ISIS faceless myrmidons belonging to a local sleeper cell emerged.
Upon identifying one another, the two sides clashed with the end result being five Islamic State fighters killed in action and one captured alive; it is unclear whether or not any PMU troops were killed or maimed.
Following the defeat of its Levantine empire at the end of 2017, ISIS has since switched to a low-insurgency method of operation involving the use of sleeper units to conduct liquidations, roadside kaboomings and hit and run attacks.

[NYP] Russia has hampered American military operations in Syria by jamming some of its drones after several suspected chemical weapons attacks on civilians, according to a report.
Four US officials told NBC News that Moscow was concerned that the US would retaliate for the attacks in rebel-held eastern Ghouta, so it began jamming the GPS systems of some smaller drones.
Todd Humphreys, chief of the Radionavigation Lab at the University of Texas at Austin, said blocking or scrambling a drone’s reception of signals from GPS satellites can be quite simple.
"GPS receivers in most drones can be fairly easily jammed," said Humphreys, who warned that jammed drones may malfunction aand even crash.
"At the very least it could cause some serious confusion" for the drone operator if the unmanned aircraft reports an incorrect position or is lost, he told NBC News.
American analysts first noticed the Russian military jamming drones in eastern Ukraine after the invasion of Crimea four years ago, Humphreys said.
The jammers "had a pretty significant impact" on UN surveillance drones, which were grounded for days after gathering intelligence from the air.
#5
I wonder if the AGM-88 can be tuned to attack the jammer? Unlike a GPS omnidirectional antenna, the HARM should be able to focus on a point emitter.
#7
If a drone gets jammed up it needs to fail over to a pre loaded program that will lead it to strike a target area, if that is the mission, or that will bring it back home without guidance.
#8
Syria is a complex battlespace. The U.S. would be retards to believe that their drones would work in that space. Put an F-18 into the space, and no one would fuck with that. But put in some dopey drone -- yah that is our bitch.

A caravan arrives one day
From snowy land of spammers,
Its camels bearing many sacks
Of rusty scythes and hammers,
And such a song and dance is seen
That each Mohammed clamors,
"By Allah, I need better drones
And lotsa Russian jammers!"
[AnNahar] The Army Command-Orientation Directorate said on Monday that four Israeli warplanes have breached Leb's airspace.
According to the army’s statement, the warplanes violated the Lebanese airspace at 3:25 a.m. flying over the sea to the west of Jounieh, adding that they had flown east over the city of Baalbek and then left the country’s airspace at 3:35 a.m.
Syrian state media had said that a number of missiles have struck Monday at dawn the Tayfur airport base in the central province of Homs killing and wounding several.
Leb’s airspace and territorial waters have been constantly breached by Israeli enemy.
They say four, the Russians and Syrians say two, but no comment on whether they were F-15s or F-16s. Oh well.
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Tehran declared on Monday that four of its military advisers have been killed in "Israel’s overnight Arclight airstrikes on T4 airbase in the Syrian province of Homs."
According to a statement carried by Fars News, two Israeli fighter jets attacked the Syrian army’s T4 military base in Homs province from the Lebanese airspace on Sunday night, killing and wounding over a dozen personnel, including 4 Iranian military advisers.
The Iranian casualties have been identified as Seyed Ammar Moussavi, Medi Lotfi Niyasar, Akbar Zawwar Jannati, Mehdi Dehqan Yazdeli. The Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday that Israeli F-15 fighter jets targeted Syria’s airbase.
Y’all are certain they’re F-15s?
The warplanes fired eight guided missiles, but Syrian air defense units shot down five before they could hit the airfield. Three of the missiles reached the Western part of the airfield. "The Israeli fighters did not enter Syrian airspace and launched the strikes while flying over Leb," the agency said.
F-15 war planes
Syrian state media, citing a military source, said on Monday that Israeli F-15 war planes
Definitely F-15s, then.
had conducted the overnight missile attack on a major air base in central Syria.
"The Israeli aggression on the T4 airport was carried out with F-15 planes that fired several missiles from above Lebanese land," state news agency SANA said. Russian military sources also said that two Israeli F-15 war planes had carried out strikes on a Syrian air base on Sunday.
Interfax cited the Russian Defence Ministry as saying the Israeli war planes had carried out the strikes from Lebanese air space, and that Syrian air defence systems had shot down five of eight missiles fired. Asked about the Russian statement, an Israeli military front man said he had no immediate comment.
Syrian state TV said on Monday the United States was suspected of striking an air base hours after US President Donald Trump ...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States... warned of a "big price to pay" as aid groups said dozens of people were killed by poison gas in Douma, a rebel-held town.
The US denied it was conducting air strikes in Syria. "At this time, the Department of Defense is not conducting air strikes in Syria," a Pentagon front man said.
"However, facts are stubborn; statistics are more pliable... we continue to closely watch the situation and support the ongoing diplomatic efforts to hold those who use chemical weapons, in Syria and otherwise, accountable."
Iranians killed
The strike killed 14 fighters, including allied Iranian forces, a monitoring group said on Monday. "At least 14 fighters were killed in the strike on the T-4 airport, among them Iranian forces," said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britannia-based war monitor.
[Ynet] Iranian drone shot down two months ago by Israel came out of the T-4 airbase, which was attacked overnight, while one of Iranian 'military advisers' killed in the attack was reportedly a member of a division that operates drones.
The target of an Arclight airstrike early Monday at the T-4 airbase in Syria was apparently an Iranian drone base.
While Russia, the United States, Syria and Iran have all attributed the strike to Israel, Jerusalem has neither confirmed nor denied it.
The T-4 complex in the eastern Homs province, 60km east of Palmyra, has recently been used by Iranian-backed militias fighting in Syria. It was built at a strategic location, close to Syrian gas fields, and was under ISIS control until the Syrian army, with backing from Russian forces, reclaimed it.
Two months ago, an Iranian drone coming out of the T-4 base was shot down by Israel. During a retaliatory IAF strike on the drone's point of origin in Syria, one Israeli F-16
... not an F-15...
was shot down by Syrian aerial defense. Israel struck back with a larger scale attack, hitting 12 targets in Syria. It is likely the Iranians have been working to rebuild the infrastructure destroyed in the Israeli attack.
Mehdi Dehqan Yazdeli was reportedly a member of the Revolutionary Guards Aerospace Force, a division that operates drones, which further strengthen the assertion Iran's drones array in Syria was the target.
Syria initially accused the US of carrying out the strike in retaliation for an alleged chemical weapons attack Saturday in Douma, which was attributed to the Syrian regime. Washington denied the charges, and later confirmed Israel was behind the attack, and that the IDF informed the Americans of its intentions beforehand.
Russia too accused Israel of carrying out the airstrike, with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov saying the air strike "was a dangerous development."
La Belle France did not carry out a missile strike on a Syrian government air base early Monday that reportedly killed several people, the French army said.
"It was not us," armed forces front man Colonel Patrik Steiger told AFP.
[Ynet] The United Nation's special envoy to Syria said Monday the international body was unable to determine who was behind the strike on the T-4 base in Syria.
"The United States and La Belle France had specifically denied responsibility for that attack, while the Russian Federation and Syria had suggested that Israel was responsible. The United Nations ...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense... was unable to independently verify or assign responsibility for that attack, but it urged all parties to show restraint," Staffan de Mistura said.
