[ToloNews] The Ministry of Defense in a statement on Friday said that at least 14 members of the Afghan Border Force were killed in an attack by the Taliban ...Arabic for students... in Dand-e-Patan district in the eastern province of Paktia on Thursday evening, despite a ceasefire that continues between the two sides.
The statement reads that the Taliban violated the ceasefire and attacked the Border Forces outpost in the district, adding that the attack was fended off by Afghan forces and the Taliban suffered heavy casualties.
Three other members of the Border Force were maimed in the attack.
And we are all so shocked they didn’t keep their word
[ToloNews] The Afghan Ministry of Defense (MoD) on Friday accused the Taliban ...the Pashtun equivalent of men... of having violated the ceasefire that was put in place on Saturday despite the group's assurances to fully implement the ceasefire with the Afghan forces.
According to Afghan defense officials, at least 14 members of the Afghan Border Force were killed in an attack by the Taliban in Dand-e-Patan district in the eastern province of Paktia on Thursday evening, despite a ceasefire that continues between the two sides following the initial Eid agreement.
Three other soldiers were maimed in the attack, said the Ministry of Defense.
The Afghan government has again called on the group to respect the ceasefire so that the way is paved for the start of intra-Afghan talks.
Previously, the Taliban accused the Afghan forces of targeting civilians in an Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... in southern Zabul province.
"The Afghan government released a large number of Taliban prisoners to help the ceasefire move on and to help start direct talks with the government," said Sediq Sediqqi, a front man for President Ashraf Ghani ...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money... Afghan officials believe that an extension of the ceasefire will help the country reach long-term peace.
"The Afghans may reach to peace if the intra-Afghan talks are started simultaneously with the ceasefire," said Mohammad Yasin, the governor of Helmand ...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan... Ordinary Afghans have also been pushing for the two sides to agree on a long-term ceasefire.
"We want the ceasefire that was announced during the Eid to continue," said Ahmad Ali, a resident in Kabul.
"The war has gone on enough now. How long should we face poverty and destruction, we are at war for 40 years--its enough now," said Abdul Wase, a resident in Kabul.
The Eid ceasefire--from May 24 to May 26-- was announced by the Taliban and reciprocated by the Afghan government, and, according to figures provided by the Afghan Independent Human Rights Commission, civilian casualties dropped by 80 percent.
There were reports of two security incidents in each of the three days of Eid, but they were significantly less than recent averages.
According to the AIHRC, before the ceasefire, up to 30 Afghans were killed and maimed as a result of war and violence in the country on a daily basis.
Zabul in the south, Farah in the west and Parwan in the center of Afghanistan have witnessed festivities between government forces and the Taliban in the last 24 hours, according to officials and local sources.
[KhaamaPress] At least seven soldiers of the Afghan Local Army forces bit the dust in an attack by Talibs in northern Parwan province.
Wahida Shahkar, a spokesperson for the provincial government, confirmed that the incident took place late on Wednesday night in Siagerd district.
Shahkar further added that the Talibs attacked a security post of the Afghan Local Army forces in Aantan area of the district, killing at least seven soldiers.
According to Shahkar, another soldier of the Afghan Local Army also sustained injuries during the attack.
Meanwhile, ...back at the pond, Gloria slowly backed away from the eight-foot bull frog. If the creature croaked she would surely be deafened... Shahkar said the Talibs also sustained casualties during the clash but did not elaborate further regarding the exact number of Talibs killed or maimed.
The Taliban ...the Pashtun equivalent of men... group has not commented regarding the incident so far.

Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol... on Tuesday night allegedly killed five members of the Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK) — not members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) as earlier claimed.
PJAK, an Iranian Kurdish armed opposition group, issued a statement on Friday claiming an Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... hit one of its vehicles carrying two fighters and three supporters.
"At 11:45 pm on May 26, two of our fighters were inside a vehicle alongside three of our supporters who were driving in the Assos area of Sifra village," PJAK said in its statement, published by Sterk TV — a media outlet affiliated with the group.
"A Ottoman Turkish drone targeted the vehicle carrying our fighters and supporters and killed all of them inside the vehicle," the statement said.
PJAK named the two fighters as Zinar Brusik and Rebaz Sina, but did not provide names for the three supporters killed in the strike.
The group accused traitors and collaborators of giving up the vehicle’s location to the Ottoman Turkish military. "Such an attack proves that without the hands of the traitors, the enemies will never be able to reach such areas," the statement added.
Initial reports on Tuesday indicated the occupants of the vehicle were members of the PKK, another armed opposition group which has fought a decades-long struggle against the Ottoman Turkish state for greater cultural and political rights for Kurds in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...Qatar's satrapy in Asia Minor... A statement from Turkey’s Defense Ministry published on Twitter grabbed credit for the strike, and confirmed the killing of five PKK fighters, as part of reconnaissance and surveillance operations over northern Iraq.
Both the PKK and PJAK use the Kurdistan Region of Iraq as a safe haven from which to launch attacks on Ottoman Turkish and Iranian security forces. PJAK is considered the Iranian wing of the PKK, but PJAK claims it is merely linked by shared ideology.

Salami said during the handover ceremony of 112 new warships in Bandar Abbas that this step is part of the birth of a new naval force in the Gulf called ’Iran’.
The commander of the Revolutionary Guards said in a speech: "These boats will increase the offensive power of the Iranian navy in the Gulf waters."
He explained that the strengthening of military force is part of the road map, which is being pursued by the Revolutionary Guards, adding that "Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The U.S. State Department has announced a $3 million reward for information that leads to the whereabouts or arrest of the new leader of the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh), Muhammad Ramadan.
The State Department indicated that Muhammad Ramadan, who was born in Jordan, is considered one of the most prominent officials in the terrorist organization.
They said, “He played an essential role in the propaganda operations of (ISIS) in order to recruit and incite elements and make them extremists, and supervised the planning, coordination and production of many videos, propaganda leaflets and online platforms that published violent scenes of torture and mass executions of civilians.”
The reward will be provided for information that leads to the location or seizure of Ramadan under the State Department’s “Rewards for Justice” program.
Since the death of the former leader and founder, Ibrahim Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, the terrorist group has remained relatively silent, except for one brief recording by the new ISIS commander.
