Afghanistan
Fresh $40 Million Cash Aid Package Arrives Kabul: DAB
[KhaamaPess] Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) on Sunday announced that a fresh $40 million cash package arrived in Kabul, and said this is the second cash shipment Kabul receives in less than four days.
$40M $15M $1.50 arrived
On Thursday (May 11), Afghanistan’s central bank announced that $40 million cash aid, as part of the United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
humanitarian aid had arrived in Kabul, and was deposited in a private commercial bank.

Since the return of the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
to power in 2021, the cash aid shipped to Afghanistan exceed $2 million.
I expect that's $2 Billion. Maff be hard for Journolists
Afghanistan’s central bank welcomed the shipment as part of the United Nation’s humanitarian cash aid and called on the international community for further cooperation across fields.

The way these funds are spent has always been a topic of debate, and donor countries, especially the United States, have prevented probing the use of these funds.

Previously, Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) had revealed that the United States donations to Afghanistan is not very clear, and the US Department of State had denied providing details in this regard.

Some Afghan politicians have criticized the UN for continuously delivering cash to the Taliban administration, which helps the group finance their de facto regime.

Whereas, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) had earlier clarified that cash shipped to Afghanistan is deposited in UN accounts in a private bank, and will be used by UN agencies solely for the purpose of humanitarian aid and other supportive programs. The money will not be handed over to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, the announcement said.

#1  What is the customary Kickback administrative handling charge now? 25%.

Also, while they say the $$$$ won't be handed over to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. How are they gonna stop it from happening?

Plus, doesn't this $$$$$ fund the continued open practice and process of restricting pre-teens to mid-teen females to little more than privately owned and used sex workers, baby factories and housekeepers without any rights.

Sudanese generals determined to eliminate RSF militiamen and prosecute rebel commander
[SUDANTRIBUNE] A member of the Sudanese Sovereign Council, Lt. General Yasir al-Atta, voiced their determination to dissolve the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and prosecute its rebel commander militarily.

Several sources close to the American-Saudi mediated talks in Jeddah said an agreement would be signed in the coming hours to stop the fighting in Khartoum and deliver humanitarian assistance to the civilians in the capital.

In an interview with the Saudi Asharq al-Awsat newspaper on Wednesday, Mohammed al-Atta, however, said that the aim of the talks underway in Jeddah was only to withdraw RSF forces outside the capital and assemble them in a gathering site before merging those who met the conditions for military service and demobilizing the rest.

"It is important to prosecute senior RSF commanders for crimes they have committed against the homeland and citizens. Any dialogue other than these points is a postponement of the war to another time," he stressed.

The Sudanese military stressed that they would not accept any international plan that leads to another solution.

He pointed out that there is no greater danger to Sudan than the presence of "these militias," accusing them of sabotaging the political and economic life and plundering the country’s resources.

"The actual disaster is the presence of the Daglo family on the Sudanese map," he said, referring to the RSF Commander Mohammed Hamdan Daglo aka Hemetti.

He also ruled out any possible development of this conflict into a civil war, considering that the army is a national institution representing all the tribes of Sudan and that the current conflict is with a rebel group.

General Atta is perceived as one of the hard-line military leaders who reject any compromise with the RSF leader and has been calling for a long time to curb Hemetti’s political and economic ambitions in the country.

#1  NY Times, precis. "Today, Darfur the fighting has created a security vacuum that militias and armed tribes have exploited, raising fears of a widespread conflict and brutality... Fighting between two military factions has thrown Sudan into chaos..., As feuding generals turned Khartoum into a war zone. The violence has driven thousands of Sudanese into neighboring countries... As the crisis in Sudan creates the kind of power vacuum that the United States had hoped to avoid, critics of the Biden admin are blaming a naïve approach to foreign policy for the violence. In West Darfur in recent years, Arab communities have mobilized alongside the Rapid Support Forces and carried out attacks against non-Arab African groups, including the Masalit group, said Mohamed Osman, a Sudan researcher at Human Rights Watch. ..."
This is reporting that definitely needs expansion. First off, the RSF are led by a Zaghawa, and reporting indicates it is composed of ethnic Zaghawa, a non-Arab tribe. Why the African Mesalit should be under attack by Zaghawa is questionable, unless the ethnic Mesalit have thrown in with the Nile River Arabs, which does not make sense. If the African Zaghawa, Messalit, Fur and Darfur's minority tribes can expunge years of mistrust and unite, and then attack and defeat the Arab tribes of Darfur (which helped sponsor the vicious Janjaweed predators fostered by the Nile Arabs), the province can be theirs, howbeit after some struggle.

Erdogan could head to runoff in national election, state-run news claims

and opposition leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu could be headed to a runoff.

Despite leading comfortably earlier in the day, Erdogan was only up by a thin margin Sunday evening with 49.9% of the vote to Kilicdarglu’s 44.4% and almost 91% of the ballots counted, according to reports.

Under Ottoman Turkish election rules, the candidates would have to have a runoff on May 28 if neither man can get more than 50% of the vote.

Kilicdaroglu, a member of the country’s center-left Republican People’s Party, had disputed the earlier reports from the state-run news agency
...and if you can't trust the state-run news agency who can you believe?...
that had the incumbent leading in the race.

"We are ahead," the 74-year-old challenger, who is running as the representative of a six-party coalition seeking to unseat Erdogan, said on Twitter earlier on Sunday.

Erdogan says Biden gave instructions to topple him

[Rudaw] On the eve of critical elections, Ottoman Turkish President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. told his supporters that US President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. We hold these truths to be self-evident. All men and women created ... by the — you know — you know, the thing...
has given instructions to topple him.

"Biden gave the instructions saying ’we have to topple Erdogan.’ I know this. All my people know this. Tomorrow the ballots will give Biden an answer as well," Erdogan said during an election rally in Istanbul.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire...
will go to the polls on Sunday to elect a new president and parliament to lead the country at the dawn of the second century of the republic. It is the country’s most crucial vote in years as the opposition looks to end two decades of Erdogan’s rule.

In a 2020 interview with the New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

, Biden encouraged Turkey’s opposition to defeat Erdogan at the ballot box.

At the rally, Erdogan also criticized his challenger Kemal Kilicdaroglu who had accused Russia of being behind fabricated videos and fake content online that have affected the race. The Kremlin denied the charge.

Erdogan said Russia is a crucial ally in agriculture, defence, and tourism sectors.

Despite NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
member Turkey’s close ties with Moscow, it has sold weapons and arms including drones to Ukraine in its war with Russia.

Turkey has not joined its NATO allies in imposing sanctions on Russia. Erdogan lauded this and claimed that Kilicdaroglu has said they will impose sanctions on Moscow. There is no public record of Kilicdaroglu saying this.

Ottoman Turkish presidential and parliamentary elections will take place on Sunday. Erdogan faces his toughest challenge as his popularity has slumped amid an economic crisis, the soaring cost of living and inflation, and the aftermath of February’s devastating earthquake.

On Friday, ORC research firm, which accurately predicted the results of the 2018 presidential election, released the result of their latest poll that predicts Kilicdaroglu winning the race in the first round.

Social media sites still blocked in Pakistan
[The Nation (Pak)] The Pakistain Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has received no instructions to restore social media, a spokesperson for the authority said Saturday.

Confirming that mobile internet services have been restored across the country, the PTA spokesperson said that no instructions have been received so far to restore social media platforms.

Earlier, on May 9, the government restricted mobile internet service across the country and prohibited the use of social media platforms such as YouTube, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

The information technology (IT) sector has suffered a devastating loss of Rs10 billion, while the telecom sector suffered a loss of Rs2.5 billion in merely three days due to the restrictions on mobile internet services, which adversely affected several businesses.

Moreover, sources in the telecom industry confirmed that the government’s tax revenue took a hit of approximately Rs860 million.

Strip.

According to the IDF’s data, Paleostinian snuffies launched 1,468 rockets and mortars at Israel during the conflict.

The military says 290 of the rockets, or one in five, landed short in the Gaza Strip, and another 39 landed in the sea, while 1,139 rockets crossed the border to Israel. Air defense systems intercepted 430 rockets, marking a 95% interception rate of rockets headed for populated areas.

A handful of rockets landed in populated areas, causing one death and several injuries, as well as damage. The rest of the rockets landed in open areas, which also resulted in one death and the injury of two others.

The IDF says it carried out strikes against 422 Islamic Jihad targets in the Gaza Strip, including eight military sites, 19 command centers, 12 weapons manufacturing sites, 122 rocket launchers, 63 mortar launching sites, 10 squads launching rockets and mortars, and 21 assassinations — including against six senior members.

The Air Force carried out the strikes with 120 fighter jets, 14 combat helicopters and an unspecified number of drones. The aircraft used 250 tons of munitions (a total of 390 bombs). Drones carried out a total of 115 strikes. And ground forces carried out 10 strikes.

The IDF says it killed a total of 21 terror operatives during the fighting. The Hamas, the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,-run health ministry in Gaza reported 33 deaths during the fighting. The IDF says at least four civilians were likely killed by failed rockets, and a number of non-combatants were killed during the initial strikes of the operation, targeting senior Islamic Jihad members.

Speaking to news hounds, the head of the IDF Southern Command, Maj. Gen. Eliezer Toledano, says the surprise strikes on Tuesday were key to what the military views as a very successful operation.

Toledano says defensive activities continue on the Gaza border, after the ceasefire.

‘We made no promises’: FM Cohen says Israel offered PIJ nothing beyond ceasefire
So much for Iran’s plan for their Palestinian sockpuppets splitting Israeli society wide open along visible faultlines, readying it for a pincer movement conquest. Tahrir al-Sham seeks to move away from al-Qaida past, get off Western terrorism lists
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] The leader of an Death Eater group that rules much of northwest Syria rose to notoriety over the past decade by claiming deadly bombings, threatening Dire Revenge against Western "crusader" forces and dispatching Islamist inquisitors religious police to crack down on women deemed to be immodestly dressed.

Today the man known as Abu Mohammed al-Golani is trying hard to distance his group, Hayat Tahrir al Sham, known as HTS, from its al-Qaeda origins, spreading a message of pluralism and religious tolerance.

As part of the rebranding, he has cracked down on krazed killer factions and dissolved the notorious inquisitors religious police. For the first time in more than a decade, a Mass was performed recently at a long-shuttered church in Idlib province.

Iraqi Prime Minister Pledges Action to Save 600 Yazidi Captives in Syria's al-Hol Camp

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani on Sunday vowed to address the plight of 600 Yazidi captives languishing in Syria's al-Hol camp.

Al-Sudani's decision follows an urgent appeal from politician Mohama Khalil.

Shafaq News Agency obtained official documents revealing that al-Sudani has instructed the National Security Advisory to undertake the necessary measures to secure the release and rescue of the Yazidi captives held in the northeastern Syrian detention facility.

The notorious camp is run by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a mostly Kurdish umbrella group that was a vital American ally during the U.S. military's operations in the region.

More than 6,000 Yazidi women and girls are believed to have been kidnapped by ISIS as the group seized control of a third of Iraq and Syria's combined territory in 2014.

As they ran over countless Yazidi villages in the foothills of the Sinjar Mountains, ISIS turbans killed the men and took the women and kiddies as sex slaves.

After forcing ISIS out of the territory it controlled in early 2019, thousands of its fighters and their families surrendered to SDF forces and were placed in the al-Hol camp.

Al-Hol camp was the primary facility in the region used to shelter civilians fleeing ISIS-held territory as the group lost ground.

By March 2019, when ISIS lost its caliphate, the camp was home to nearly 70,000 people. There are still about 55,000 there, including 28,000 Iraqis, 19,000 Syrians and 8,000 people from other countries.

Most of their home nations have denied them the right to return, arguing that they pose a security threat.

The U.S. has repatriated virtually all of its citizens from al-Hol, leaving behind only Hoda Muthana and her half-Dutch child. The mother, a Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
i-American dual national, was stripped of her U.S. citizenship.

ISIS turbans still mingle among the refugees, and the forces that run the sprawling camp say they can do little to change the realities within its perimeter.

Yazidism, a religion that predates Islam, is considered heretical devil worship by ISIS and other Sunni Moslem bully boy groups. Followers have long been targeted —along with Christians and other religious minorities in the region— by ISIS and al-Qaeda.

When ISIS took control of Christian and Yazidi areas, they would commonly force Christians to choose between execution, conversion to Islam, or fleeing ISIS territory.

The Yazidis, however, were given no such options.
