It's interesting. I thought it was a browser issue. I'm running Edge (chrome) 85.0.552.1 (dev) on my main desktop and I'm seeing the "new" fonts. On a portable running the GA version of Edge (chrome) I'm still seeing the classic Rantburg look.

^ Was me. Actually, Firefox 72.0.2 (GA) is also showing classic. So it's something strange.

Fred says it's possibly a style sheet error - he's looking into it, but it could be a slow process. At least it's working properly, so low priority IMNSHO

Faint Chawles of Chalmette is a chawma,
Your standard Chalmatian, but warmer,
Whose shop's always crawlin'
With hawts who use "dawlin'."
We passed his boutique
Just last week to a shriek:

Yeah, grom, but you can't see me cuz I've got my hands over my eyes (viewing Burg in dark mode on unfamiliar mobile after long absence = psychedelic experience ;-)). Huge disproportion in font size between various panels. Figured it was just the new browser. Great to see you all thriving.
[KhaamaPress] A jacket wallah detonated a vehicle packed with explosives close to a security check post in central Maidan Wardak province of Afghanistan.
According to local officials, the incident took place earlier today in Sayedabad district of Wardak province.
Mohibullah Sharifzai, a spokesperson for the provincial government, said a suicide bomber detonated a Vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device closed to a security check post in Sheikhabad area of the district.
Sharifzai further added that the security forces identified the suicide bomber before he could reach his intended target and he blew the explosives up after coming under fire.
He also added that the earth-shattering kaboom did not inflict casualties on security personnel but some properties located in the area were damaged.
The anti-government armed Lions of Islam including Taliban ...Arabic for students... have not commented in this regard so far.

[MSN] Shots were fired into the air from a car in Portland, Oregon, in the early hours of July 9 as the vehicle drove away from a group of protesters who had surrounded it. This video, recorded by Portland Independent Documentarians, shows the shots being fired out the driver’s side window of a white Kia as it drives away from protesters near the Justice Center. The source of the video said the vehicle was "driving erratically before accelerating into protesters". Another witness said the car "tried to swerve into the street towards people multiple times." Portland police had yet to comment on the incident.

Trying to get around rioters == "driving erratically".
Keep the thugs out of the street, and this won't happen.

From what I've seen in the riot videos, it seems that the Antifa/BLM/Anarchist SOP is to run out in front of any vehicle to block them from moving into 'your space'.
That's what happened to those two womyn on the I-5. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Spent about 20 mins looking up the Criminal Backgrounds on the leadership of various radical groups that we are currently seeing promoted and championed in MSM.
I quickly determined even with a Level 4 Vest and 120 rds of ammo. I would not want to be in the same room with them. I'd set up an X outside.

Watched a TV show called Apocalypse: Stalin last night on TV. The guy was arrested two or three times for his Bolshevik related activities, went to jail and was then released. Hitler went to jail once for the Beer Hall Putsch. Gotta wonder how different the world might be today if authorities at the time had sense enough to keep these dangerous sociopaths behind bars where they belong.

So they'll blame everything on numbnuts here and don't need to look for anyone else?
Antifa have compiled and released a list of names and info of what they say is every officer in a law enforcement agency in the Portland-area.

[DAILYWIRE] Vandals have cut down a flagpole at a memorial in a village outside of New York City that honored five local firefighters who died in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
The vandalism in Washingtonville was discovered early Wednesday, according to the Times-Herald Record. Police have launched an investigation.
Washingtonville Police Chief Brian Zaccaro told the newspaper that vandals cut the flagpole about four or five feet from its base, toppling it. They also wrote a message on the part left standing. Police would not release what the message said, but stated that an eagle figure that sat atop the flagpole was found next to a vandalized sign at the St. Mary’s Gay Pareeh Center about a half-mile away.
"These two locations mean so much to Washingtonville and the larger community," said New York State Assemblyman Colin Schmitt, whose district includes the area, the Record reported.

[AlMasdar] Hundreds of Israeli soldiers were quarantined on Wednesday, on suspicion of having been in contact with a soldier who was infected with the coronavirus.
The Israel Today newspaper said on its website that all the soldiers of the Nahshon unit were quarantined at an army base in the occupied Golan Heights.
They pointed out that some of the soldiers participated in a party in which a soldier was infected with the coronavirus, which led to their quarantine, but after examining them, it became clear that some of others were also infected.
Israel Today quoted a senior official in the battalion, whose name has not been released, as saying “that the entire battalion was placed in quarantine.”
No further details were released regarding this quarantine.
That’ll teach them to engage in risky behaviours. Here’s hoping only a few actually fall ill and, of those, none badly.
[JPost] - Iran is facing a total intelligence breakdown.
With another explosion on Thursday night, reportedly at an Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps facility, the question is not only how anyone has pulled up to seven attacks off in around two weeks, but how has the Islamic Republic repeatedly failed to stop them.
From 2010-2013, the regime succeeded in cracking a CIA cell and eliminated many CIA operatives.
Even when the US and Israel, according to foreign reports, breached Iran's security for its nuclear program with the Stuxnet virus in 2009-2010, they had to use assets of Dutch intelligence.
In general, Iranian counterintelligence is known as performing at a much higher level than most Israeli adversaries. Sometimes they falsely announce arrests of Mossad agents who are just political opposition members, but sometimes they can flush out spies at a professional level closer to the world's top powers.
Until Israel's January 2018 operation seizing Iran's nuclear secrets, Iranian territory was thought of as much harder to penetrate than Syrian territory, where Israel has admitted to thousands of intelligence and airstrike operations.
In the days of Meir Dagan, a score of attacks on Iranian nuclear scientists were attributed to the Mossad.
But much of that was over a decade ago and many of the scientists were killed alone and outside their facilities — presumably, easier targets than penetrating and exploding whole facilities like a set of dominoes.
What the world is witnessing right now is someone (the United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia, possibly with Iranian dissident proxy help) hitting Iranian nuclear and conventional weapons and IRGC facilities practically at will. And they are doing it in a way that has virtually never been witnessed in recent memory.
...However, what we appear to be witnessing are the limits of a second-tier counterintelligence force. Up against a premier intelligence or cyber power, Iran is apparently near defenseless.
The questions remaining then are how long these attacks can continue and whether Iran can cope with them or may make some sort of secret contact to cut a deal to get them stopped.
If it does not, the message from whoever is making this happen is clear: continued aggressive actions on nuclear and other fronts will lead to consequences that the ayatollahs had never imagined.

Iran recently signed a very strange deal with the PRC. It allows the PRC to station troops anywhere it wants in Iran at anytime for any purpose.
In addition it allows ChiCom business to set up an run businesses anywhere in Iran without supervision or normal controls.
This sort of deal almost requires a monster to exist in the first place. Every time one sees a deal like this there is always the chance that those the deal benefits (China) are the actual monster. Iran may have been rickrolled by China.

Once an intel org misses a certain number of Big Events, for whatever reason, it starts to look inward--more than its usual caution--and that reduces efficiency. Fewer people are willing to work with an operative if the previous guy got burned over a slow fire on account of suspicion..... Good agents, or mediocre ones for that matter, can be investigated for normal activities not sufficiently recorded. Who leaked Soleimani? Maybe nobody. Maybe it was strictly sigint. But you can't be sure so it has to be investigated and everything slows down . And bosses need scapegoats to CYA.
And the it's Howdy Doody time. See the CIA.

It looks like Bibi’s big warehouse raid picked up more than just nuclear bomb information.
One advantage of the coronavirus lockdown is that it appears Israel needn’t spend nearly as much time dealing with domestic nonsense — there are hardly any articles on the subject to post nowadays. g(romgoru, is that your impression, too?

And, in any case, I think it's the wrath of Ahura Mazda with the worshipers of the Moon God.

The recent Iranian attack on Israel infrastructure has led the Israelis to put into effect a plan that was to be held in reserve and employed if conditions became much more serious. It's now obvious that Israel senses major Iranian weakness in both its economy and social settings. As the old adage goes, strike while the iron is hot.
Gen Milley says US & military are struggling with racism & have much more to do. "Divisiveness leads to defeat." Adds "There is no place in our armed forces for manifestations, or symbols of racism bias or discrimination"
I went to my first (and mandatory) Army "Race Relations" class in Berlin in 1974 or '75. They told us we were all racists. I stopped listening about that time. I don't think they've said anything much different since. That "discussion on race" stuff doesn't involve an exchange of opinions. I strongly recommend promotion board minority quotas along with an effort to increase the number of sergeant majors of color. Doing away with MOS tests and mandatory weigh-in should also be considered. Lastly, prior felony convictions should not preclude one from enlisting. [sarc off]

"Gen Milley says US & military are struggling with racism & have much more to do."
1. Carla works for VOA news...AKA MSM. So what I see is negative spin, disguised as news
2. He's testifying before Congress (aka Dog & Pony Show), so what was he supposed to say?
3. Just what the hell is systemic racism anyway? I know what the words mean, I just have a problem when they are combined. I also notice no examples are ever provided. NEWS FLASH!!! it's not 1920.

Chris gives us Mexican press dispatches of drug and gang war violence
over three years, presented in a multi volume set intended to chronicle the death, violence and mayhem which has
dominated Mexico for six years.
