[NYPOST] The man suspected of causing a Manhattan subway derailment by tossing metal construction debris onto the tracks was hit with a number of charges for the vandalism on Sunday night, police said.
Demetrius Harvard, 30, is accused of chucking the material onto the tracks at 14th Street and Eighth Avenue as an uptown A-train was pulling into the station at about 8:20 a.m, authorities said.
The suspected subway saboteur was hit with reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, assault and criminal trespass charges in the incident that created delays to the transit system, officials said.
The first car of the train veered off the tracks, sideswiping at least 10 beams after striking the metal ties, also known as D plates.
All 135 passengers were taken off the train by first responders. Three of straphangers reported minor injuries, the FDNY said.
Harvard allegedly tried twice to chuck the metal debris onto the tracks Sunday morning, sources said.
After he allegedly threw the material onto the tracks a first time, a good Samaritan went down and retrieved them, sources said.
But he allegedly picked them up and hurled them back just as a train was pulling into the station, sources said.
Harvard found the plates among construction materials at the station, police sources said. MTA workers have been warned not to leave the items close to tracks or near where riders could get a hold of them.
Straphangers held Harvard until cops arrived.
Harvard was previously arrested Sept. 5 on charges of criminal mischief for allegedly hurling a metal bench through a bus window on 8th Avenue and 22nd street, according to sources and records. He was released without bail in that case.

Personally, I object to the whole concept of "hate crimes". You don't assault, beat, rape, murder someone because you really love them. You do it because you hate them. So all violent crimes are essentially hate crimes.

[NAIJANEWS] A family has cried out for justice, following the sexual assault and death of their 28-year-old daughter, who was killed by the personnel of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Federal Capital Territory Command, Abuja.
The victim, Ifeoma Abugu, said to be a graduate of the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu; was attacked when three coppers stormed the residence of her fiance, Afam Ugwunwa, at Wumba village in the Lokogoma area of Abuja, around 5pm on September 10, 2020, to arrest him.
Naija News learnt that on getting there, the coppers who did not find Ugwunwa, decided to arrest Ifeoma and took her away.
Our correspondent learnt that all efforts to know the cop shoppe she was being taken to proved abortive saying she was not found until Ugwunwa got a call the next day that Ifeoma had died and her corpse had been deposited in the morgue.
Her brother, Alex said she had just finished her National Youth Service Corps and was arrested and killed four days after she had her introduction with Ugwunwa in Enugu State.
He said, "I was in Lagos when one of my junior brothers called me that he learnt that SARS arrested our sister and she died in detention. I just came to Abuja today (Sunday) and I have asked some of my uncles, who have been to the cop shoppe, and they said that the coppers alleged that they met my sister unconscious on the bed and they carried her to hospital, where she died.
"When I asked my sister’s fiancé what happened, he said he went out and someone called him on the telephone that SARS had arrested my sister and when he came back, he called someone he knew at the SARS office to help in facilitating her release, but the person was unable to do it that night.
He said her fiance even tried to bribe the woman into securing her release, but the woman called him back to inform him that she had died.
Alex said when his uncles saw the picture of her corpse, they could see signs that she was sexually assaulted.
He added that the family Is still awaiting the result of an autopsy to come out to ascertain what happened to her.
"My sister was arrested four days after her introduction in the village and her wedding was slated for December. We want the killers to be brought to justice."

Baimadajie Angwang, who worked as a community affairs officer in the 111th Precinct in Queens, allegedly began acting on behalf of the People's Republic of China in May 2018 with an unidentified handler stationed in the Chinese consulate in Manhattan, according to a complaint unsealed in Brooklyn federal court.
His contacts with the consulate began in 2014, the papers note.

Federal charges against an NYPD officer accused of spying on behalf of China are “pure fabrication,” the Communist nation claimed Tuesday.
“The relevant accusations made by the U.S. side are pure fabrication,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin told reporters at a daily briefing Tuesday, according to Fox.
“The U.S. plot to discredit the Chinese consulate and personnel in the United States will not succeed.”
Baimadajie Angwang, a now-suspended police officer in Queens’ 111th Precinct, was arrested Monday following a years-long federal investigation. Prosecutors allege the 33-year-old has been gathering information on Tibetans and recruiting potential intelligence sources for a contact inside China’s Manhattan consulate since at least 2018.
The married cop, who lives on Long Island, has been charged with acting as an agent of a foreign government, obstruction, wire fraud and making false statements.
Wenbin said the indictment against Angwang was filled with hedging terms like “seems” and “possibly,” which gave him the impression that prosecutors struggled to make a case, the outlet reported.
The International Campaign for Tibet said in a statement that the case against Angwang shows the depth of China’s nefarious intentions.

IIRC from research on a history paper in college, every year starting from 1930, the Japanese naval officer's final exam had a question asking for a plan for bombing Pearl Harbor. It makes sense that China would have one for Guam- just as we would (should) have one for various Chicom bases and targets.
And no, I do not remember the source re Jap Naval exam factoid.

[WashingtonTimes] China is engaged in massive data mining in the United States and likely has stolen personal information on nearly half of the entire U.S. population, FBI Director Christopher Wray revealed this week.
Chinese intelligence and government-linked hackers have conducted data collection operations, such as the 2017 theft of financial information on 150 million people from the credit bureau Equifax.
Mr. Wray said in prepared congressional testimony that hackers compromised information on "nearly half of the American population and most American adults."
"If you are an American adult, it is more likely than not that China has stolen your personal data," Mr. Wray told the House Homeland Security Committee on Thursday, adding the theft is "on a scale so massive that it represents one of the largest transfers of wealth in human history."
