[Rooters] President Champ, who had medical tests on Saturday after complaining of a sore throat, is suffering from acid reflux, the president's physician said.
"The president's symptoms are consistent with soft tissue inflammation related to acid reflux and will be treated accordingly," Champ's doctor, Captain Ronny Jackson, said in a statement.
Acid reflux is a condition in which the stomach contents flow back up from the stomach into the esophagus, causing such symptoms as heartburn and sore throat.
Champ, 53, went to Walter Reed military hospital for a fiber optic exam of his throat and since swelling was detected, doctors decided to perform a CT scan as well, Jackson said.

No official diagnosis, but when I woke up in the middle of the night with my throat on fire, I figgered it was acid reflux. Water and Rolaids wouldn't put out the fire. It had to burn itself out.
But I certainly wouldn't confuse it with a sore throat.

I don't know about the military personal at Walter Reed military hospital, but I doubt I could trust my own hands that close to Mr. Obama's throat.
[USA Today] Candy Crowley is exiting CNN after a 27-year run. Run? Candy Crowley can run ? Sure she can. Follow the slime trail...
Network chief Jeff Zucker announced the news Friday in a staff memo that called her a "television icon" and read, in part: "Candy has let us know that she has made the decision to move on, so she can embark on the next chapter of her already prolific career." Yea right, her decision of course. More time with the family, food bank, guest lecturing, that sort of thing.
Crowley, 65, joined CNN in 1987, and has been chief political correspondent and host of State of the Union, its Sunday morning public-affairs show. She has covered several presidential campaigns and moderated a town-hall debate between The Champ and Mitt Romney during the 2012 campaign. After which she should have been immediately fired. As I said above, follow the slime trail...
The move comes amid buyouts and layoffs at Time Warner that have affected about 300 CNN employees. No word on the hostile takeover by an Atlanta parking lot consortium ?
No word on her successor. But two canteens have closed, 5 vending machines have been recalled, and CNN elevator buttons have grown smiley faces.
[Ynet] A United Nations ...an idea whose time has gone... peacekeeper who contracted Ebola in Liberia arrived in the Netherlands on Saturday for treatment, the Health Ministry said in a statement.
The man, a Nigerian who was not identified, was to be treated at the UMC Hospital in the central Dutch city of Utrecht, after arriving on a medical flight to the capital, Amsterdam.
Make sure all your seams are sealed, guys. And whatever you do, don't rub your eyes.

Not to be confused with Operation Torch on 8 November 1942 when America would without declaration of war launched an unprovoked attack upon neutral Vichy French North Africa. Right FDR? I'm sure the French sailors of the Jean Bart were impressed with that 'surprise' as well. (see-Naval Battle of Casablanca).
Just retrieving from the Memory Hole(c,1984) about Father Progressive himself and the rhetoric of war.

It's going to happen again. When the last ones who remember are gone, it will happen again. And this time, there will be a casualty count that makes Pearl look like a bar fight.

Prosecutors dropped charges of crimes against humanity against Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday, marking a failure for the International Criminal Court in the highest-profile case in its 11-year history.
Carla del Ponte weeps...
Judges in The Hague had on Wednesday given prosecutors a week to decide whether to proceed against Kenyatta, who was accused of fomenting ethnic violence after the 2007 election, or withdraw the charges.
"Da witnesses are all dead!"
Prosecutors have said Kenyatta, the first sitting president to have attended a session of the court, used his powers to obstruct the investigation, especially since becoming head of state last year. Kenyatta's lawyers denied this.
The collapse is a blow to the court, which has secured only two convictions, both against little-known Congolese warlords, and has yet to prove it can hold the powerful to account.
Many Africans accuse the court of unfairly targeting their continent, while a lawyer said it had failed victims of the post-election bloodshed in which 1,200 people were butchered.
"The evidence has not improved to such an extent that Mr Kenyatta's alleged criminal responsibility can be proven," prosecutor Fatou Bensouda said in a court filing.
Kenyatta received the news at a meeting of Kenyan officials and business executives, who applauded. Some hugged him. His reaction, "One down, two to go", referred to his wish to see similar charges dropped against his deputy, William Ruto, and a Kenyan journalist.
Diplomats say the case has been a distraction for the administration, despite official denials. But the economic impact has been limited, in part because most investors have long thought the case against Kenyatta was falling apart.
The court did not acquit Kenyatta, so charges could be brought again if more evidence becomes available. But the case against him struggled in the court, with prosecutors saying star witnesses had been intimidated into withdrawing testimony, a charge Kenyatta's lawyers denied.

According to Auto Express, the ZIL concept has been commissioned by the Russian army. The vehicle, based on the chassis of the standard-issue US army Humvee, is said to be able to carry 10 people into combat in various seating positions. Two chairs at the back corners of the truck can be used by gunners, deploying weapons through the hatch doors.
Looks like it came out of a Batman movie. One of the ones with George Clooney...
Or Robocop.
The ZIL is powered by a Cummins diesel engine with 183bhp, through a five speed manual gearbox to all four wheels. Despite the futuristic styling, it uses traditional leaf springs and drum brakes.
TOKYO -- Defense policymakers in Japan and the U.S. are privately voicing concern about the total absence of U.S. aircraft carriers from East Asian waters for four months next year.
So the Japanese should build one. Or three. Or follow Hagel's advice and put in enough long-time shore-based weapons to make the waters around them theirs for a thousand miles...

It would cost more to refuel USS Enterprise (and do other non-discretionary repairs) than to build a new aircraft carrier, or so I am told. It was not designed to ever be refueled.

I'd call one City of Nanking just so the message was clear. I realize the ChiComs are looking to settle some old scores, but I fear traditional mainland conceit might be getting the better of them.

This a opposed to Merkel, who trained and began her 'public service' career in the eastern zone before the reunification. Vast difference.

also, in posting article, you don't get to copy material, only post a link.
"In response to President Obama's announcement of November 20, 2014, that he on his own authority will grant legal status in the United States to approximately 4.7 million illegal aliens, Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Arizona, and his crime-fighting attorney Larry Klayman, have filed a complaint and preliminary injunction motion with the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia seeking to enjoin or stop this illegal action by President Obama," said a statement released by FreedomWatch, Klayman’s organization.
Rudy, please. He has international experience, and we need Sheriff Joe at the border. Top state cop might not be a bad idea, though, were he he willing to take it.

Well, I suppose we could all secede on a temporary basis...OR the field guys could just ignore the crap and nonsense and do their job as intended....of course the political officers in each organization make them toe the line.

In a crowded Pennsylvania shopping mall on Black Friday, an Army veteran spots a suspicious-looking man in uniform.
"Where'd you get your three CIBs at?" asks Ryan Berk, a sergeant with the 101st Airborne Division in Afghanistan in 2010-11, referring to Combat Infantryman Badges and recording the encounter at Oxford Valley Mall on his phone.
The video, which has gone viral, shows Berk, 26, outraged by what he calls a "phony soldier" and "stolen valor." This morning, he appeared on Fox and Friends to expand on the incident and explain why he believes the imposter deserves to be prosecuted.

...This is being followed in detail (and legend-level snark) at http://thisainthell.us/blog/ . One comment on the CIB thing - Numbnuts didn't do a lot of research on it. The way the award periods are set up, he'd have to be in his 80s to have three. Apparently there are a handful of triple CIB winners, but Round Boy ain't one of 'em.
BONUS: Turns out the guy was also involved in a thoroughly creepy incident a while back - he was impersonating a police officer who was killed in the line of duty. http://thisainthell.us/blog/?p=56879

I wish I could put those stolen valor guys inside a memory for just a single minute of screaming hell that is the reality of how you earn a bronze star or other award. Be no need to threaten them with anything after that.
Thing is, any non-hacker with enough knowledge of the awards to put them on properly had to do enough research to pick up at least a minimal understanding of their meaning, and would therefore end up not impersonating a soldier.
And yeah, Shin, I'm with you on the Thank You For Your Service. I always tell them I appreciate it but to be sure to thank the current ones. They are paying the price now for things we left unfinished (thanks to the politicians). Same as it ever was.
Full Disclosure: I was well paid enough after service as a government civilian then as a contractor to help remedy things left unfinished in some places - and they still haven't been remedied completely, thanks to State Dept idiots and the politicians with them
"Do you have a video or image of a faker that you were planning on exposing to Guardian of Valor or This Ain’t Hell? Don’t. Just post the image with appropriate information to the Al Jazeera Facebook Page with some judicious comments.
When the terrorists strike, if they ever do, who are they going to hit? We definitely don’t want to have to worry about getting ambushed back at home. I know some would enjoy the opportunity to get stuck back in with deadly intent but a firefight with the kids along could be a drag.
This solution may also absolve some of the boys who like to play dress up by giving them a real chance to actually earn the oxygen they breathe instead of just wasting it by being fat posing retards with delusions of adequacy."
[Breitbart] The man identified as "Barry One" in a Breitbart News investigation debunking TawanaLena Dunham's story of being raped in college by a "mustachioed campus Republican" named Barry, has made his first official statement since the release of that report. Through his attorney, identified as Aaron Minc, Barry One has set up a legal fund to cover current legal expenses, clear his name, and to potentially file suit against Ms. Dunham. Gents, think about this: Tawana Dunham's higher'n a kite on coke and drunk as a lord and she wants her horn swoggled. You're magickally 22 years old, single, and wearing beer goggles. Do you
Fill her void?
Go home alone and study for your fly fishing final?
Uhuh. Now part II. You wake up in a strange bed with a splitting headache, a half empty jar of mayonnaise on the nightstand. You're lying next to Tawana Dunham, who's rifled your pants, found your wallet, and is examining your voter's registration card. Do you
Apologize profusely and leave, hoping the German shepherd's okay
Tell her your name's Barry and check to make sure your false mustache is still glued on
Become a homosexual on the spot
Sorry. This won't be graded on a curve.
The proceeds from the legal fund will be used only to cover Barry One's legal expenses. If there are any leftover monies, those will be donated to non-profit organizations that aid sexual assault victims.
For more than two months, and to no avail, Barry One has asked Dunham (through her representatives) to clear his name. Obviously, she has refused.
"All proceeds will be spent by Barry on legal costs and related fees associated with defending Barry's reputation," the statement reads, "including, but not limited to, potentially pursuing Lena Dunham and Penguin Random House for harm caused to Barry's reputation from the publication and sale of Ms. Dunham's memoir."
The statement adds that due to numerous details in Dunham's memoir that falsely point to him as her rapist, "Barry has already spent a substantial portion of his savings on legal fees because of the actions (and inactions) of Ms. Dunham and Penguin Random House."

If anyone tried it she'd be like that NYT reporter in Chicago who demanded priority 'A' police protection after receiving a single threatening phone call following a story she wrote.
Violence by Michael Brown against Officer Darren Wilson and resulting in violence by Officer Darren Wilson against Michael Brown in Ferguson must not have been real either.
Thank you so much for clearing all that up for the world with such all encompassing reasoning!
Please answer me this one question; where are the people and property that violence really did not happen to, go, and what caused kind of actions caused their disappearance oh wise one?

Life, liberty, property - John Locke
Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness - Thomas Jefferson
The proper alternative to the natural state is not political dictatorship/tyranny but democratically elected government and the effective protection of basic human rights to life, liberty, and property under the rule of law.
Remember, though, for progressives there is no real law (a set of restrictions both of individuals and the state to which all are subject), only power.
Property takes time to accumulate. It take parts of our lives. It's a manifestation of our labor, our sweat, and dreams. Time you can not recapture once passed. This is no 'natural disaster'. This is a wonton act and taking and is indeed violence against someone.

If you break into my house here in Austin, Texas I will shoot you dead.... the problem is which weapon to use. 45. or 357 magnum. Or my 308? such a quandary.
#8
308? No. Over-penetration. Go with .40 S&W, or better yet a .410 pump or semi-auto shotgun with the shortest barrel you can legally put on it (Like a .410 Saiga with a bullpup kit), with birdshot, 00 and deer slug (repeated) in that order. First one shocks them, second one hurts them, third one makes a big hole in case the first 2 weren't enough. Kit makes it easier to use in close quarters.
This allows for a lower grade of marksmanship - after all, not every one is combat experienced, or a mounted police officer from Austin.
