And they say chivalry is dead! Edited for brevity.
A man says he broke into an apartment with a cavalry sword because he thought he heard a woman being raped, but the sound actually was from a pornographic movie his upstairs neighbor was watching. "Now I feel stupid," said James Van Iveren, who has been charged in the case. "This really is nothing, nothing but a mistake." Hey, I'd break down the door too to rescue a woman with 44DDs.
According to a criminal complaint, the neighbor told police that Van Iveren pounded on the door and kicked it open without warning Feb. 12, damaging the frame and lock. "Where is she?" Van Iveren demanded, thrusting the sword at the neighbor, the complaint said. "Where is she?" The neighbor told police Van Iveren became increasingly aggressive as he repeated the question, insisting that he had heard a woman being raped. The complaint said that, with the sword pointed at him, the neighbor led Van Iveren throughout the apartment, opening closet doors to prove he was alone. The neighbor later played for police the part of the DVD he believed Van Iveren heard downstairs. The police seized the DVD for further viewing...um...as part of the investigation. Yeah, that's it!
Van Iveren, 39, of Oconomowoc,[WI,] was charged with criminal trespass, criminal damage and disorderly conduct, all while using a dangerous weapon, and is due in court March 5. Together, the misdemeanor counts carry a maximum sentence of 33 months in jail.
Van Iveren, who lives with his mother in the downstairs apartment, said he did not call police when he heard the noises because he does not have a telephone. He said he barely knew the upstairs tenant. I'd have thought the 39-year-old living with his mom would have been the one in need of porn...
Police seized Van Iveren's sword, which he said was a family heirloom.

If the weapon is a cavalry weapon it is a saber, not a sword.

I think I saw that in "Law and Order".
A man who worked fraudulently as a forensic psychologist for almost 30 years has been convicted of deception. Gene Morrison, 48, left school with no qualifications but gave evidence as an "expert" in hundreds of court cases, many of which must now be re-assessed.
He was convicted at Manchester's Minshull Street Crown Court of 20 charges of deception. Morrison, of Hyde, who was described as a charlatan, had denied conning judges, solicitors and police over decades.
"It wuz longer den dat, hawh!"
The court heard he had duped them into believing he was qualified and was paid at least £250,000 in taxpayers' money.
Morrison's firm, Criminal and Forensic Investigations Bureau (CFIB), was hired by legal firms, insurance companies and private businesses to give evidence in court. He also gave evidence from the witness box and wrote reports, many of which he had copied from the internet. About 700 cases in which he gave evidence are now being re-assessed to look for possible miscarriages of justice.
Morrison was found guilty of 18 offences including obtaining a money transfer by deception, obtaining property by deception, perverting the course of justice and perjury. He admitted a further two charges. The guilty verdicts followed two days of deliberation by the jury. He was cleared of one count of obtaining a money transfer by deception after the four-week trial.
The jury is continuing to deliberate on a single count of intending to pervert the course of justice and another of attempting to obtain property by deception. Judge Jeffrey Lewis remanded Morrison in custody while the jury continued deliberating on the outstanding counts.

It says a lot about "forensic psychology" that someone can BS judges about it for 30 years.
Perhaps there is no real difference between the BS that qualified folk spew out and Mr Morrison's version?

" In the New Mexico Legislature's 1995 session, Sen. Duncan Scott, a Republican from Albuquerque, proposed an amendment to a psychologist regulatory bill offered by another senator. The Scott amendment would have dramatically changed the face of New Mexico's legal system:
The amendment said: "`When a psychologist or psychiatrist testifies during a defendant's competentcy hearing, the psychologist or psychiatrist shall wear a cone-shaped hat that is not less than two feet tall. The surface of the hat shall be imprinted with stars and lightning bolts.
"Additionally, a psychologist or psychiatrist shall be required to don a white beard that is not less than 18 inches in length, and shall punctuate crucial elements of his testimony by stabbing the air with a wand. Whenever a psychologist or psychiatrist provides expert testimony regarding a defendant's competentcy, the baliff shall contemporaneously dim the courtroom lights and administer two strikes to a Chinese gong."
The bill, with the wizard amendment, passed the Senate by voice vote and cleared the House 46-14. Unfortunately, Gov. Gary Johnson vetoed the legislation. "

The rapper P. Diddy, aka Puff Daddy, has such an intense fear of clowns that he has a clause in his live performance contract that no clowns will come near him, and no clowns will even be allowed in the audience.
Ironically, he keeps crossing paths and venues with the Insane Clown Posse, a group that has hundreds of fans dressed as clowns in each performance.
A 40 year old man from Luleå received life-threatening injuries after being stabbed in the lung by his 28 year old Russian girlfriend. The pair were staying at the man's apartment in the northern Swedish town when they got into a heated argument about their relationship. The 40 year old says that his girlfriend was disappointed with the quality of their sex that evening.
"That's it?"
"Gee, honey, I..."
"Take that, you inconsiderate bastard!"
"Aaaaiiiieee! My lung!"

I think "It's not you, it's me" is probably a better method. Uh. er, that's what I'm told, anyway.

A Moroccan man was sentenced to death on Tuesday for the murder of an Italian working for the European Commission in Rabat and his Belgian wife, state news agency MAP reported. Alessandro Missir di Lusignano, an official attached to the Commission's delegation in Morocco, and his wife Arianne Lagasse de Locht were stabbed to death in their villa in a wealthy Rabat suburb last September. Karim Zimach, 25, was arrested shortly afterwards while driving a car he stole from the couple's home, according to Moroccan officials. "During the trial, the guilty man admitted ... having committed these murders while under the influence of drugs," MAP said.
Moroccan courts still hand out death sentences but no one has been executed in the North African kingdom since 1993. The death penalty is banned throughout the 27-nation European Union. Earlier this month, the European Parliament voted to urge the bloc to press for an immediate United Nations moratorium on executions across the world.

A court in Doha awarded a year in prison to a 36-year-old Pakistani man for getting a 25-year-old Iranian woman pregnant. The court also ordered that he be lashed 99 times for adultery. However, the judge cleared him of rape charges for lack of evidence. The man is currently in jail and the court said the period spent in prison would be deducted from his sentence, the Gulf Times reported on Tuesday. The newspaper did not name the individuals involved. According to the prosecution, the man was employed as a driver in the plaintiffs house. The plaintiff claimed that in May, 2005, the man lured her daughter to a garage and raped her. The case took a turn in December when the accuseds lawyer told the court that the couple was married. The marriage, arranged by the lawyer, created a new situation in the trial. Judge Manon Hamour said the case was unique and went from bitter hostility to becoming a family. The judge said the marriage proved that the accused was the illegitimate babys father. On the day of the crime, they were not married and therefore, the man cannot escape punishment, the judge ruled. On the womans status, a legal source said that the court could not punish her since no formal complaint was filed against her. The woman gave birth in January 2006.

Shouldnt the headline read:
Another Woman avoids Honor killing through Marriage to Rapist
#9
CT must be from one of those "alphabet" agencies that we hear lurk around the 'Burg on a regular basis.
Second thought: does it not seem as if rapists must be the most incredibly potent males on the planet? It seems like there are an awful lot of reported stories where women raped one time conceive children. That seems more than just unusual given the huge amounts that are spent worldwide by married couples desperately trying to become pregnant.

Mohammed Riaz made every conceivable attempt to prevent his wife and daughters enjoying their Westernised lifestyle. He destroyed their clothes - modest by Western standards but tight fitting by his own - when they came out of the wash and he railed against plans to allow alcohol at his terminally ill son's 18th birthday party - which had been brought forward because of his prognosis.
Increasingly alienated and in despair over the illness of his son, Adam, the labourer killed his wife and four daughters by throwing petrol over them as they slept and igniting it.
At the inquest in Blackburn, Lancashire, yesterday the coroner, Mike Singleton, recorded a verdict that Caneze Riaz, 39, and her four daughters, Sayrah, 16, Sophia, 15, Alicia, 10, and Hannah, three, were unlawfully killed at their terrace home in Accrington, and that Mr Riaz, who died in hospital two days after the fire, took his own life. Adam died six weeks later.

What a waste of good people, all because of one hypocrite.
My heart goes out to this poor boy. Terminally ill, his father kills his entire family and himself. What suffering he must have endured for those 6 weeks. What loneliness. What a tragedy.

Mr Riaz, a traditionalist and a practising Muslim who grew up in the North West Frontier Province of Pakistan
Well the root of the problem solved . Is there anything which comes out of there not a sadist?
On a side tip , hardly a practising muslim ,if he has an alcoholics liver disease . I hope those 65% burns to him caused him extreme pain , and I hope they continue to in hell
#7
From halal killing of animals to honor killing of those who "shame" Islam, does it never occur to people that avoiding causing others intentional pain might be a worthwhile goal? Sadism, or indifference to suffering at the very least, truly seems to be a feature of the Islamic culture. Planet Dan-you are spot on.
A truly thoughtful and spiritual person not under the hypnotic spell of Islam might have gained some insight from his predicament-like what it means to have no power over your own life-and used it to help others. Perhaps one of these days, a spiritually-attuned Muslim might actually draw a correlation between loss of autonomy and no option of self sufficiency and the condition of women under Islam.
*I* say a home invasion assault by a total stranger is being incorrectly labled a "political dispute", but that's just me.
Man's Republican beliefs irritate suspect
A Fredericksburg [Virginia] man was arrested Saturday on charges he assaulted three strangers at their home during a dispute over politics, police said. According to a Fredericksburg police report, the suspect went to a home in the 900 block of Marye Street about 5:30 p.m. after finding one of the resident's name on a Republican Web site. [!]
Sounds like a DU nutcase found one of his neighbors was a Evil Republican, maybe after trolling their blog.....hummmmm
The resident and his two roommates engaged in a discussion with the suspect, though none of them had ever met or had contact with him before. The argument got heated and the suspect learned that the young residents had not enlisted in the military and "put their all" behind the Republican-led war effort in Iraq, police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe said.
Rather an odd way of reporting that a crazed stranger knocked on a law-abiding citizens' door screaming obscenities and hurling accusations (and a few punches), dontcha think?
Sounds like our suspect played the "Chicken Hawk" card.
The suspect refused to leave the home after repeatedly being asked to do so, police said. The three roommates were hit multiple times each as they attempted to get the suspect out of the door, authorities said.
Brave, brave DU lad. Wouldn't leave when he was invited to do so until he had made sure he had converted them to The Cause.
The suspect continued to be aggressive and disorderly even after a city police officer arrived, the report states.
Andrew Stone, 23, was charged with three counts of assault and battery. A magistrate released Stone on his own recognizance and he was ordered to have no further contact with the victims. It was not clear in the report what political agenda Stone was supporting. Then you're too stupid to be a journalist.
No, that's exactly how a fifth columnist ought to report this story. High fives all 'round in the newsroom...
And it was abundantly clear.
