Sources have told WRAL News that they expect former U.S. Sen. John Edwards to admit that he is the father of his former mistress' 18-month-old daughter.
Edwards, a two-time Democratic presidential candidate, confessed last August to having an affair with Rielle Hunter, who served as a videographer on Edwards' 2008 campaign. He has denied fathering her daughter, saying his relationship with Hunter ended before the child was conceived. The name of the girl's father isn't disclosed on her birth certificate.
Andrew Young, a long-time Edwards aide, initially claimed to be the father of Hunter's child, but he is reportedly writing a book in which he will claim Edwards is the father.
A federal grand jury is investigating whether Edwards' campaign funds were illegally paid to Hunter to keep quiet about the affair. Hunter spent nine hours last Thursday at the federal courthouse in Raleigh, where the grand jury was meeting. She brought her daughter, Frances, with her.

Wehell, ION a new book claims that 'CUZIN ANNA NICHOLE SMITH'S so-called "Baby Daddy" was involved in a sexual relationship wid her lawyer. The book is repor part of the "chain of evidence" in upcoming litigation.

The hits keep coming for the Senate Democrats. Amid the most severe fiscal crisis in recent memory and a state hiring freeze, the Senate majority is spending $430,000 a year on a newly created "creative services" department led by a cocky deejay who spun records for Mick Jagger and Prince.
Scratch-master Christopher Sealey was given a $120,000 salary by Senate President Malcolm Smith (D-Queens) in February to head up a five-member team dedicated to "rebranding" the newly Democratic-controlled Senate. Most recently a graphic designer for the HIV-prevention group Housing Works, Sealey claims design of the Senate's new Facebook-inspired Web site as his big accomplishment. But his brash manner, wiseguy Twitter "tweets" and fat paycheck have quickly drawn the ire of fellow staffers.
The expense has come under greater scrutiny after revelations that Senate Democrats recently doled out huge raises to favored staffers and hired the kin of influential senators, such as the son of Senate Majority Leader Pedro Espada Jr. (D-Bronx), for plum jobs. "Unfortunately, [Sealey] is one of many brand-new hires who have come on board making an excessive six figures and haven't produced much," said one outraged Democratic Senate staffer. "He's become the face of what is wrong with the personnel polices in place."
Sealey oversees four staffers, including an "art director" and a "production director," each making about $100,000 a year. Republicans say the jobs are redundant to others that have long existed in the Senate. Sealey could not be reached.

New York Rep. Jerrold Nadler is having his first health-care town-hall forum on Monday night -- it just won't be with any actual people in the room.
The Democratic congressman will hold a "telephone town hall," where Manhattan and Brooklyn constituents who have been calling his district office to talk about health-care reform will get return calls. The method allows Nadler to hold a forum without potentially encountering the protesters who have spoken out at other health-care reform events around the country.
A Nadler spokesman insisted the move had nothing to do with avoiding protesters, saying they'd always planned on doing a "tele-town hall."

Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle has told associates he will announce this week that he won't seek a third term in 2010, POLITICO has learned.
"His legal counsel resigns, poll numbers have been in the tank, the state's unemployment rate is hovering above 9 percent, he's bickering with Dem lawmakers on the Finance Committee, and he's taking shots from the Madison media over one of his appointments to the Dane County bench."
By deciding against a run, Doyle, a Democrat, sets off what could be one of the most competitive gubernatorial races in the country next year.
The governor has been coy for months about his intentions, stockpiling money but at the same time not saying publicly whether he would run for re-election. But sources familiar with his decision not to seek a third term say Doyle recognized the difficulties he may have faced next year and didn't want to go through another campaign after a long political career.
He's had to raise taxes and fees while furloughing state workers to help plug a $6.6 billion budget deficit. In doing so, his approval numbers have fallen below 40 percent. And just this week, he faced the embarrassment of seeing his legal counsel quit because she hadn't passed the state bar. "His legal counsel resigns, poll numbers have been in the tank, the state's unemployment rate is hovering above 9 percent, he's bickering with Dem lawmakers on the Finance Committee, and he's taking shots from the Madison media over one of his appointments to the Dane County bench," wrote the popular state political site Wispolitics.com in their insider "Stock Market" column last week. "And there's continued heartburn among Dems because he still hasn't officially announced if he's running for governor next year. It all adds up to a rough patch for the guv, insiders from both sides say."
National Democratic strategists privately expressed concern about Doyle's re-election prospects, especially in the face of a strong GOP field that includes Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker and former Rep. Mark Neumann. "It's not the worst thing in the world," said one top Democrat, citing Doyle's declining popularity and a solid bench of prospective Democratic candidates

It will take the folks from Wisconsin years to recover from the anti-business, free spending Mr. Doyle. Case in point - a major proponent of the 'high-speed rail' farce, the governor just spent $47M "No-Bid" on two sets of Spanish trains for an existing Milwaukee-Chicago rail line (Hiawatha) that could add 70 riders (to 420, up from 350) per trip on a system that usually carries far less than 200 passengers per trip. Another future subsidy!
Wisconsin used to be 'good' for business by investing heavily in existing and new industries (thereby keeping the unemployment rate very low in relationship to its neighbors). Doyle cut the majority of this investment out of the budgets since 2003. In the last 6 years, businesses have left the state in droves, so that part of his plan 'worked' anyway.

The notorious "Frankenstein Veto" built into Wisconsin's constitution was modified somewhat. The above link goes to an article about Doyle using the illegal veto from force of habit. The legislature has to unscramble this little problem now.
